Previously in "Angel of Destiny", Finn nearly punches Wes, but is stopped by his brothers and Ruby. Later, Finn and Sage have a fight at her old apartment.

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Lexi gave Sage a concerned look. The redhead had come to her and Kol after her fight with Finn, seeking refuge. Since she didn't want to turn her away, she agreed to let her stay with them. "Stop staring at me, you're driving me up the wall," Sage said without glancing up a photo album she had in her lap of Ruby & Grace growing up.

Lexi shook her head. "I'm sorry, Sage. I've just been worried about you since you came here."

"I'm sorry for grumbling at you, but I am just SO mad at him. I don't understand why he has to act like…like an ape! He's not, and if he does this again, I will seek out help elsewhere," she said, feeling the tears stinging her eyes when she saw the picture of Finn with his oldest daughter and Lee with Grace.

Lexi nodded. "I'm sorry that things were so ugly between you two." She went over and sat next to her, gently taking her hand in hers. "You know you can always come to us. In spite of what happened, we're still family, and family is a very important thing to have, especially in situations like this. I know you and Finn; you're going to get past this."

"What if we don't?" Sage said. "What if this is really it? What if our marriage can't be saved?"

"Well, if that's the case, I will help you find a good home to live in, one that is toddler-proof so that Nathaniel can live there with you," Lexi said with a sympathetic smile.

Sage nodded. "Thank you, Lexi."

"You're welcome," the blonde replied. "You shouldn't have to go through this alone."

Meanwhile – At Their Mansion

Kol sat on the couch beside the door to his oldest brother's office, watching him pace back and forth in an angry, unsettled manner. "You're going to tear a hole into the floor, you know," he said with a smirk.

Finn growled at his brother. "I'm in no mood for your wise cracks, Kol."

Kol's smirk faded. "Well excuse me for trying to lighten the mood, brother. You've been fuming since the fight you had with Sage at her old apartment. Damn it, Finn, what is it with the anger all of a sudden? You used to be like Elijah. Now, you lose your temper as quickly as Niklaus does when he thinks someone is contradicting him."

"Oh, bother someone else with those hollow words, Kol. I don't have any reason to listen to them." Finn was about to exit the office when Kol quickly stood up and cut his path to the door off. "What?"

"Sit down, brother," Kol said, and then gently pushed Finn into his desk chair.

Finn raised an eyebrow at him. "What's going on here? What are you doing?"

"What do you think? This is an intervention."

Finn turned his head when not only his father, but the rest of his brothers walked into the study. "You know that we care for you, brother, but we also want Sage to feel like she can allow you to come home," Elijah said.

Finn scowled. "Care about me? You're ganging up on me."

"That's quite enough out of you, Finnegan," Mikael said. "Your brothers and I want to help you and damn it, you will listen to what we have to say, even if we have to tie you to that chair."

Finn looked like he wanted to flee, but Kol held him down on one side and Henrik joined him on the other side. "Sorry, brother, but you're not going anywhere," Henrik said.

Finn struggled against their hold, but to no avail. "Let go of me!"

"Struggle all you like, Finn, but it will do you no good," Klaus said. "As Elijah stated earlier, we care about you and that is why we want to help you."

"And you want to do that by holding me here, as a prisoner in my own HOME!?" Finn yelled.

"If that's what it takes, then yes, son," Mikael replied.

"Some family you are," Finn said. "Holding me prisoner in my own home, the very idea of it is idiotic!"

Just then, Ruby came downstairs with Hannah & Grace, and eyed the group of men inside Finn's office. "Father, we're going out for lunch and we'll be back later," Ruby told Finn before they quickly departed the mansion.

As soon as the girls were gone, Klaus looked over at Mikael. "I think we should get our intervention started. Wouldn't you say, Father?"

Mikael nodded as he replied, "Yes, definitely. It's the only way we can save their marriage."

Using one hand to hold him down, Kol began searching in the drawers of his brother's desk until he found what he was looking for, the two sets of handcuffs he knew Finn kept if he didn't have any other ones for spares. "You're not actually considering that, are you, Kol?"

"If this is what it takes to have to keep from holding you down ourselves, then yes, brother," Kol said, giving the second set of handcuffs to Henrik, who placed one around Finn's wrist while locking it firmly around the arm of the chair.

Once Finn was securely cuffed to the chair, his father and brothers gathered all around and Finn prepared himself for what was going to happen next. "What topic should we discuss first about our brother and his wife, brothers?" Olivier asked the others.

"I don't think I've ever heard of how they actually first met," Henrik replied. He stood between Kol and Olivier, since they all stood according to age.

"It was a lucky accident, actually," Elijah said. "Finn was assigned to protect a woman that was being sent death threats. Little did he realize that Sage was the one he had been assigned to protect. It was around that same time that he was trying to get away from Sarah."

"Oh, yes, I remember now. And she was supposed to marry another man that her father felt was better suited for her?" Henrik asked.

Finn struggled against his cuff restraints but was not successful in getting free. "Yes, that was how we met," he gritted out against the pain he was embedding on himself.

"I have never met the man, but I think that Sage's father recalls something a little different from that story," Mikael said.

Finn growled. "Who the bloody hell cares what her father recalls or doesn't recall? He was a tyrant, according to what Sage told me."

Pulling out his phone, Mikael went through his recent text messages then found the one he was looking for, turning his phone until the screen faced Finn. "I'd show you more, but not until we get this intervention over with," he said.

Finn looked at the text his father was showing him. He didn't have to guess who sent it because he already knew. "When did you get that?" was all he asked as he looked up at his father.

"Oh, you mean the text? I got it from Sage's brother, Connor," Mikael replied.

Finn growled again. He never did like Sage's brother, but kept his opinion to himself so that Sage wouldn't get angry. "That idiot should keep his nose out of this. This doesn't concern him."

"On the contrary, son, Connor and Sage have recently decided to reconnect," Mikael said to his oldest son. "And he wants to make amends."

Finn didn't know what to say to that, so he decided to change the subject entirely. "What other topics do you wish to discuss as long as you insist on keeping me prisoner like this?"

"When did you first realize that you loved and still love Sage?" Olivier asked. "I wasn't around then."

"I realized I loved her the moment we met," Finn said. "It wasn't hard, really. She was so beautiful and I found myself unable to resist her. I wanted to bask in her radiant beauty forever."

"So much so that you resisted the evil attempts Sarah made to worm her way back into your life?" Elijah asked then.

Finn nodded. "Yes. I didn't want to have anything more to do with that vile woman. Sage was everything Sarah wasn't and I'm grateful for that."

His younger brothers and Mikael all noticed that his anger had begun to fade to Mikael gestured for his sons to follow him to the other side of the office, all except for Finn. "I think it's working," Klaus said once they were on the other side of the office. "He's starting to calm down. That's a step in the right direction."

"We should still keep going though. Maybe talking about Ruby, Bridget and Amy will help him more?" Olivier suggested.

Kol nodded. "We might as well include Cooper and Nathaniel while we're at it."

His brothers nodded in agreement and walked back over to Finn. "Have you decided to release me from my imprisonment?" he asked.

Elijah shook his head. "Actually, we thought we'd talk about your children now that you've calmed down."

"Damn it, Elijah, I want to get out of here! Not talk about my problems some more," Finn demanded.

"We think it'll be beneficial," Elijah said. "Do you want to save your marriage or do you want to lose Sage forever?"

Finn growled some more so Kol pulled out his phone next and sent a text message to Lexi that said, 'What is Sage doing right now? And can you send a picture?'

Lexi replied back: 'She's looking through photo albums.' A few moments later, Kol received a picture of Sage doing exactly that, but Kol noticed right off that Sage's eyes were puffy and red from crying so he turned his phone toward his brother. "Is that want you want to come home to, Finn?" he asked.

Finn saw the picture. "My God, what have I done? I've hurt the one woman who means the world to me."

"If you want to fix it, brother, I suggest you remain where you are and tell us what you love most about your children," Klaus said.

"My love for my children is beyond measure, Niklaus."

"Just tell us anyway," Klaus said. "Tell us so that you can fix the damage that you have done."

Finn sighed then said, "Very well then. The thing I love the most about my children is that no matter what kind of day I've had, I can always rely on them to make everything better." He chuckled. "I remember this one time when Ruby was in kindergarten. I came home and found a heart made out of macaroni that she made. I loved it so much that it brought tears to my eyes just looking at it."

"And what happened after that?" Klaus asked.

Nearly 16 Years Earlier

Finn let his duffel bag drop down off of his shoulder as he walked into the kitchen's back door. "Sage, love, I'm home!" he called out. Glancing around for a minute, he spotted a piece of colored paper with some kind of object on it and he moved closer toward it, nearly crying when he saw it was a heart made out of macaroni. Picking it up, Finn smiled at the inscription on the inside. In the sloppy writing traditional of a four-year-old, the words, "I love you, Daddy" were etched in the middle of the heart. He then turned around to see the little artist herself standing there, her red hair in pigtails on either side of her head. Finn smiled at her. "Did you make this, Ruby Red?"

Ruby nodded. "Do you like it?"

"Sweetheart, I love it," he replied. "In fact, I am going to frame it and hang it on the wall so that everyone can see it."

"Daddy, you're so funny," Ruby said with a giggle, grinning when he reached out and picked her up, putting her in his lap as they admired the artwork together.

Finn kissed the top of his daughter's head as they admired the picture. He was proud of her and in that moment, words weren't necessary. Sensing a presence nearby, Finn turned his head and smiled softly at his wife and younger daughter, lifting one hand toward her.

They all smiled at the project as they admired it proudly. After a while, Finn turned again toward his wife, smiling as he gently caressed her pregnant belly before leaning toward it and pressing a gentle kiss onto the fairly large bump. "Hello, my precious son," he whispered.

Sage smiled as he kissed her belly, feeling a kick. "Your precious son is saying hello back."

"Indeed he is," Finn said with a grin. "Daddy loves you, Cooper Finnegan."

Present Day

Finn smiled. "I still have that macaroni heart. I wasn't lying when I said I'd frame it." He nodded toward the wall behind Klaus. "It's even hanging on the wall, right where I said I'd put it. I look at it whenever I have a bad day, remembering when Ruby made it for me."

"What about Bridget? How did Ruby feel when she found out that she was not going to be the only one who had her daddy wrapped around her little finger?" Elijah asked.

Finn sighed. "Well, she did get a little jealous when she found Sage and I would be adding to the family. But, Sage and I sat her down and told her that she can still have our attention, but she would have to share us. She didn't like it at first, but over time, Ruby realized that there would be enough of us to go around, and she didn't have to feel that anyone was going to take us from her."

"See? And she still loves you both to this day, Finn. But, you almost ruined it, when you almost beat up Wes Maxfield. And you want to make it up to her, am I correct?" Elijah spoke up again.

Meanwhile

Ruby glanced over at Hannah, watching her as she typed furiously away on her cell phone. She then glanced over at Grace, who was glancing off into the distance before she nudged Grace. Grace felt Ruby nudging her and looked at the redhead. "Huh? What's up?"

"You were zoning out again."

"Sorry," Grace said. "I'm really trying not to do that." She saw Hannah typing on her phone. "What's Hannah typing over there?"

"For your information, I was typing for my new girlfriend to come and meet us for lunch. Unless you're not okay with that?" she asked her stepsister and cousin.

Grace was confused. "I'm sorry, did you say girlfriend?"

"Yeah, Hannah told me about what happened with her and Caleb's stepsister," Ruby said. "I'm sorry, I should've told you."

"Hannah should've been the one to tell me! You and I live together!" Grace yelled before rushing off.

"Grace, wait!" the two cousins called out after her, grabbing their purses and shopping bags then rushed to find her.

Grace growled as she turned to face them. She pointed an accusing finger at Hannah. "Why the hell didn't you tell me this, Hannah? Doesn't our bond as sisters mean anything to you anymore?"

"Grace! How dare you accuse me of such a thing?" Hannah gasped. "You know that you mean more to me as my sister than anyone else does. I only told Ruby first because it's her boyfriend's stepsister and I was there for her when she needed me. Why, I haven't even told your mum or my father about it yet. Do you want to know why I haven't done that yet, Grace? Because I'm scared about how they'll react to the news that I'm not the saint that my father thinks I am, and that I'm attracted to the female species instead of the male species."

Grace scowled. "They're going to find out eventually, Hannah. Either your girlfriend is going to let something slip or I'll go to them and tell them myself."

"Well, it just so happens that I'm planning to have a dinner tonight so that I can tell them and introduce Callie to them at the same time. I'd really like it if my sister AND my cousin could be there, because both of you are my dearest and best friends," Hannah said.

"Come on, Grace, it will mean a lot to Hannah if you were there," Ruby said. "She needs us to be there for her."

Grace sighed, calming herself down. "All right, if it means that much to her, I'll be there."

Author's Note: The next chapter will start out with Hannah & Callie then shift to the introduction of Callie to Kol & Lexi, so hope you enjoyed this chapter!
