A/N: Sorry for the sappiness and the bad writing. Hope you still like! Next one will be better I hope.

Lexie walked into the exam room Hilary Young was in.

"How's my favorite patient?" Lexie asked her with a smile.

"She's hoping the mushrooms haven't grown back." She answered nervously. "Do you think they have?"

"I don't." Lexie said. "We got all of the fungi out in time. But it's hard to know for sure. It could go wrong with only one cell." She saw Hilary's uncomfortable look. "But I think we're good."

Lexie grabbed the equipment. She started looking in Hilary's uterus.

"Can you see anything?" Hilary asked.

"No." Lexie said with a smile. "I think that you're fungi free. But you still have to come for check-ups."

"I will." Hilary said with a bright smile. "I promise. Wouldn't miss an appointment with the best doctor ever."

Lexie chuckled. She loved flattery. "Thank you." She said. "So how are you and your ex husband? Did you work it out?"

"No, we didn't." Hilary said sadly.

"Well, you are better off."

"I know."

"And your friend…?" She asked carefully. "Did you and Bethany work things out?"

"No, we didn't. I never even talked to her." Hilary said sadly. "Does that make me a bad person?"

Lexie sighed. She pulled up the sleeve of her lab coat and revealed a bruising. "This is from a fight with my sister. I'm not exactly the person you should ask for good person advice from."

"What happened?" Hilary asked with a smile.

"Nothing with a guy." Lexie assured her. "It's way more complicated than that. But I think you should talk to your friend. Friendship is amazing, and it can survive a lot. And if you don't give her a chance to explain, you're never going to find closure. You'll always be thinking of the what and the if."

"True." Hilary said. "But she was the maid of honor on our wedding."

Lexie sighed. "That's messed up."

"I know."

"And if she pisses you off too much, you can always get in a physical fight, it's what I did and I sort of feel better."

"As my doctor, should you be recommending me that?"

"Probably not." Lexie said with a smile.

"Didn't think so."

I made it through the wilderness

Somehow I made it through

Didn't know how lost I was

Until I found you

Lexie ran into Deb who looked way too happy for a morning.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?" She asked.

"I'm happy." She said. "Henry surprised me last night."

"What did he do?"

Deb held out her arm. "First, he got me this beautiful bracelet. And then he had someone play our song on the radio!"

"That's great." Lexie said.

"It was so romantic. He's so sweet. Does Jackson ever do that for you?"

"Not really." Lexie said. "But I don't mind."

"It's great that you don't think you need romance in your relationship." Deb said with a smile.

Lexie didn't know what she was implying with that. "What?"

"No offense." Deb said. "I like the way you and Jackson treat each other, it's refreshing. But you hardly do anything romantic of the kind. It's because you hardly have time for each other because of your job."

"We're romantic enough."

"Really?" Deb asked. "What's your song?"

Lexie thought about that. "We don't have one."

"That's just my point." Deb said. "But it's okay it doesn't make your relationship any better or worse."

"Right." Lexie said, trying to think what Deb meant with all of this.

"I'm just so happy." Deb said happily.

"That's great."

I was beat incomplete

I'd been had, I was sad and blue

But you made me feel

Yeah, you made me feel

Shiny and new

Lexie stamped into Jackson's office.

"Hey." She said.

"Hey."

"I think Deb just offended our relationship."

"What did she say?" Jackson asked, intrigued.

"She said we didn't have romance."

"Well, why do you think she said that?"

"Because it's true." Lexie said. "And maybe because I told her she had a fat ass yesterday and she needed revenge."

"Do you want romance?" He asked.

"Not particularly." She said. "I mean, we could try it. It could be fun."

"So what is romantic?" He asked, absolutely clueless.

"I don't know." Lexie said. "We could stare in each other's eyes." She said sarcastically.

He leaned in and so did she. They looked each other in the eyes for a while.

"This is boring." Lexie said.

"Totally."

"Your eyes are green, I know that already."

Jackson laughed. "What else do you think is romantic?"

"I don't know." Lexie said. "I'm not that good at this."

"Neither am I." He said. "We could have dinner tonight at a restaurant." He suggested.

"Sounds great." Lexie said. "I don't feel like cooking anyway."

"You never do."

"Whatever." Lexie said. "At least I know how to crack an egg."

"One time I do it wrong." He complained. "One time."

She kissed him and said. "You're cute."

"So are you."

Like a virgin

Touched for the very first time

Like a virgin

When your heart beats

Next to mine

Lexie sat with Meredith in Wyatt's office.

Wyatt looked from one to the other expectantly, but neither talked to each other or to Wyatt.

"Meredith." Wyatt said. "How do you feel about Lexie right now?"

"I love her but I think she's stupid because she won't forgive me." Meredith said simply.

"Okay." Wyatt said. That was a sisterly thing to feel. "And Lexie, how do you think Meredith is right now?"

"She's stupid to think that I'm ever going to forgive her."

"Okay." Wyatt said again. "Now what can we do about that?"

"Nothing." Lexie said.

Meredith glared at her. "We could spend more time together."

"We're together now." Lexie stated.

"I mean, some real time together. As sisters." She said.

"No." Lexie said.

"Oh…" Meredith said, a bit disappointed. "Why not?"

"You know why."

"I really don't, so why don't you explain it to me."

Lexie sighed, she scolded herself for admitting what she was about to admit, because she didn't want Meredith to see her like this. "You hurt me. When I first came here, to this hospital, you didn't want to know me. You didn't want anything to do with me. Yet you were friends with Cristina who was like, the most terrible person ever, though she's not anymore since I got to know her. But it just didn't make sense to me. Then when we became sisters because I never gave up on you. But when I came back, after being dead. You didn't get to know me again. You ignored me again. You didn't want anything to do with me again. Do you have any idea how much that hurts?"

"Lexie, it wasn't like that!"

"Then what was it like?" Lexie asked.

"I was too afraid to come and talk to you because I knew the minute that I would, I'd tell you the truth. And everybody told me not to, everybody told me that that would be wrong. And they shouldn't have. I shouldn't have listened. But I did and I apologize. But it hurt me so much to see you every day and not hug you. I hated it, it seemed wrong. I'm sorry to have made you feel the way you did. But I can't take it back now. Though I'd take it back in a second. I regret everything, and I hope that you could find a way to forgive me. Because that hurt me, too."

"Want me to forgive you?" Lexie asked, getting kind of tired of everything. "Fine, I forgive you. I forgive you."

"You do?" Meredith asked.

"Yeah." Lexie said. "But I'm never going to forget it. And that's on you."

Meredith looked down, knowing this was not over at all.

"Time's up." Wyatt said softly.

Gonna give you all my love, boy

My fear is fading fast

Been saving it all for you

'Cause only love can last

Lexie sat in Jackson's office who was pretending to do paperwork. She knew he wasn't though, but she didn't mind because she was charting.

There was a knock on the door and they both looked to see Derek walk into the office.

"Hi." He said. "Can I talk to you?"

"Sure." Lexie said, bored. She didn't really need to hear what he had to say.

"I need to apologize."

That caught her attention. "You do."

"But I also have to you why I did the things I did."

"And that is?"

"I did everything for my wife. I let you perform surgery on her because I wanted her to live. I didn't want you attacking her because she just had heart surgery so, yes, I blamed it on you but that was because I had my wife and her wellbeing in mind so I wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have blamed it on you. I told you-" He turned to Jackson. "-That you were no good because usually Lexie was very forgiving but now she isn't."

"I've grown some backbone." Lexie explained.

"But I thought it was because of him." Derek justified himself. "And I could see that everything was making Meredith so miserable and I didn't want that. So that's why I blamed it on you, when I shouldn't have. I should have just taken responsibility for my actions. I'm sorry. I was just trying to protect my wife and my family."

"Thank you." Lexie said sorry. She didn't know why Derek was having this change of heart but she liked it.

"I'll just… I'll go." Derek said, and he left and closed the door behind him.

"Damn it." Jackson said. "Now I can't hate him."

"Why not?" Lexie asked.

"Because I'd do the same thing for you."

Lexie smiled. "You would?"

"Of course. I care for your wellbeing. And Derek might've been selfish in his actions but he had the right intentions… apparently."

Lexie sighed. "I really don't know what to think anymore."

You're so fine and you're mine

Make me strong, yeah you make me bold

Oh your love thawed out

Yeah, your love thawed out

What was scared and cold

Lexie was in some fancy restaurant with Jackson, looking at the menu.

"This food is way overpriced." She said.

"I bet it's good." He replied.

"True."

"So what do you want to talk about?" He asked.

"Not surgery. We do that too much."

"Okay." He agreed. "How did therapy with Meredith go?"

"I- The world isn't black and white. I thought she was in the wrong all this time but even though she wasn't there for me, it didn't mean that she didn't care. Or that she didn't want to know me. She just wasn't strong enough. She and Derek, they're not bad people. And they do love me. But it's just… It didn't feel that way."

"You're right." Jackson said. "The world's grey. You even have a last name to remind you of that. But they were in the wrong, too."

"But so am I sometimes."

"I think you should just try your best to mend your relationship with them." Jackson suggested. "Not for them, but for you. You deserve to have a good family and if they can give you that, you should let them. And you're going to regret it if you don't."

"You're right." Lexie said and she sighed. "God, I hate it when you're right. I like to be right. Can you try and not be right?"

Jackson chuckled. "Sure."

The evening went by okay but only because they were talking about surgery so the experiment had failed.

You're so fine and you're mine

I'll be yours 'till the end of time

'Cause you made me feel

Yeah, you made me feel

I've nothing to hide

Lexie and Jackson sat down on Wyatt's couch and looked at Deb who was sitting on a chair next to them.

"You're probably wondering why I called you here." Wyatt said. "Your friend called me upon a matter, or rather the lack of one."

Lexie glared at Deb.

"It's about the matter of romance." Wyatt said.

"We don't have it!" Lexie said. "Big deal."

"Well, today we're going to discover if you do have it!" Wyatt said happily.

"Fine." Jackson said. "What do you have in mind?"

"What do you mean with romance?" Lexie asked Deb.

"Henry tells me why he loves me and how every day. And how much he needs me. I just want my best friend to have the same thing!"

"I know why he needs me." Lexie said.

"Oh, you do?" Jackson asked.

"Yes. You need me to tell you to feed the cat."

"And you need me to tell you you're allergic to eggs whenever you eat pretty much anything you ever want to eat."

"And you need me to tell you you're an ass."

"You need me to for my awesomeness." He said cockily.

"You need me to tell you you're not as good as you think you are."

"And you need me to prove you wrong."

"And you need me to prove me right." She said.

"And you need me to distract you from that." He said.

"And you need me to get you to have that serious look in your eyes right before you kiss me so I know that you're serious about your love for me. Know that it's a lot for both of us. Means a lot."

"And I need you for the smile on my face every morning."

"I love you."

"I take it back." Deb said. "You have plenty of romance. It's just different from mine."

"Thanks."

Wyatt smiled. Her patient seemed to be in a healthy relationship. How did that happen?

Like a virgin, ooh, ooh

Like a virgin

Feels so good inside

When you hold me, and your heart beats, and you love me

Lexie sat in the lobby, waiting on Jackson.

She missed her sister, like, really missed her.

She dialed Meredith's number but never pressed 'call'.

Instead she just kept waiting on Jackson.

When would she give up?

She called the one person she knew who would understand.

"Hey Mol."

"Hey Lex."

"How have you been?"

"Good. You?"

"Not that great."

"I'm sorry."

"So am I."

"What should I do?"

"Do you remember what mom used to say?"

"Probably. But she said a lot of things, so what are you talking about?"

"Love means giving chances when there are no more chances left to give."

Lexie sighed. "Why was mom so wise?"

"Because she hated us."

"I know, it's really annoying."

"Just give in."

"I will."

"Stop being afraid."

"Sure."

"Bye."

"Bye."

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Ooh, baby

Can't you hear my heart beat

For the very first time?
