Chapter 38

Eamon ran into the infirmary to find complete chaos. Liam was trying to keep Sullivan from killing Thanatos. A few feet away, Knox was trying to keep his mate from killing Sullivan. Since she refused to shift back to her human form, only Knox would be able to tell them why. On the other hand, Sláine was trying to keep the rest of the women in the bunker. Luckily, the healer was only a few steps behind him.

"Seriously," she muttered, and before anyone could respond, the wolves froze.

"Ah yes," Nia laughed. "The popsicle powers."

"I'm getting really sick of using them," Jenna growled, feeling extremely on edge.

Soon you won't have to, mate, Jenna heard in her head.

"Nia," she groaned. "It's back."

"What's back?" Nia, the only other person standing in the room asked. "The voice."

"I don't know."

"Just ask," Nia rolled her eyes.

"She doesn't have to ask," she heard form the other side of the room.

"No," Eamon growled. "Jenna's mate would not manhandle her best friend."

"You're correct, Connors. I wouldn't manhandle her best friend," Sullivan called out from his place on the floor.

"What?" Zoya growled, having phased back to her human self.

"The healer is my mate, Zoya," Sullivan rolled his eyes.

"But…" Jenna couldn't get the words out before she collapsed.

Eamon had been close enough to catch her, but it didn't reduce the powder keg before him. Without Jenna to handle the wolves, this could go poorly very quickly. However, when he turned his attention back to his audience he knew they were all just watching in shock.

"Eamon," Jacks called out to him.

"Sweetheart," he groaned. "Please, go back to the bunker."

"Are you or are you not holding my unconscious best friend?" Jacks glared at him.

"Jacks‒"

"Nope," she interrupted. "I did my waiting in the bunker, but now I can't just sit and wait. Something is obviously not right."

"What are you insinuating?" Sullivan growled.

"Well," Jacks glared at the man with green eyes glowing. "If I remember correctly, which I do since it's only been like a week, meeting your mate does not cause panic-induced fainting. Even if she was freaked out, I'm the one who does the passing out, she pointed at herself before pointing at Jenna. "She prefers to hit something."

"Cousin," Treasach cautioned from his position next to his mate.

"Fine," she crossed her arms, her brown eyes back in place. "Just ask Nia. She's the mate compass or whatever."

"Uh," Nia blushed. "It's not like a switch I've figured out yet. I haven't exactly had a lot of time to practice with all the spell countering and all."

Zoya walked to stand with her friends, keeping her eyes trained on Jenna's prone form in Eamon's arms. "Nia, it's Jenna. Just think of what she would do for you. Do for any of us," the Russian woman motioned between the four of them.

"You're right, but what could it possibly be. I mean if she's hearing his voice…" Nia was at a loss for what she could do.

"Nia, please," Jacks implored her with her eyes, unable to ignore the sense of dread she was feeling.

"Fine," Nia took a deep breath. "Please bring Jenna over here, Eamon."

"Uh, why hasn't he lost his marbles?" Jacks pointed at Sullivan who calmly watched Eamon carry his mate.

"Jacks, don't," Liam shook his head from where he stood holding his brother.

"Right," Jacks rolled her eyes. "We don't have Jenna to handle the prickly wolves."

"Nia," Zoya grinned. "Now would be a good time. I think Eamon would appreciate it if he didn't have to fight all the wolves in this room."

"Jenna and Jacks are right," Nia shook her head. "You all are ridiculous."

"Focus, love," Treasach warned.

Nia realized that she couldn't put this off any longer. Something wasn't right. Nia knew that, but she wasn't sure she would be able to figure it out. She wished Kael was awake because he seemed to have some semblance of control over this ragtag group, but more importantly, he had a weird ability to calm Jenna down. If Jenna was just panicking, then he would be able to calm her down. That didn't mean that he was her mate, and everyone could see that, not just the seer.

Without really registering what was happening, Nia walked over to Kael and put her hand on his forehead. It was like falling down the rabbit hole into Jenna's brain.

Leannán, you found their mate mental connection. Jacks was right. Something isn't right.

"Kael's her mate," Nia gasped.

Eamon handed Jenna to Zoya and had Sullivan pinned to the wall in an instant. The rest of the wolves in the room seemed inclined to watch it play out, knowing Eamon would do what was needed.

"Looks like my mate was right," Eamon growled. "Sullivan, do you know what I can do to you now that I know you were trying to manipulate a female into bonding with you?"

"Kill him," Knox growled.

"Knox," Zoya growled. "Not now."

"I heard her voice in my mind," Sullivan said nonchalantly. "How else would you explain that?"

Nia noticed something in his eyes and reacted on instinct. Treasach yelled for Eamon to move, who luckily listened without hesitation. Another beam shot out of Nia's hand before anyone could react. It was a few minutes before the beam faded and Sullivan looked at the seer in disbelief.

"How did you…How…but…" Sullivan couldn't seem to formulate a sentence.

"How did I know you had the blood of an enchantress running through your veins?" She asked with her eyebrow quirked. "No idea, but all the ties you had to magic are gone. You no longer possess any abnormal abilities, well for a wolf that is."

Sullivan instantly phased and Thanatos started laughing hysterically. Brady was on Sullivan with a tranquilizer before anyone else could react.

"She's going to kill you all," Thanatos laughed. "She's going to kill you all."

"Sláine, sedate him, please," Eamon ordered. "Everyone else, let's go to…the theater room." When no one moved to follow, he continued. "It's the only other room in the entire mansion that has the kind of sound barriers that Kael's office has. Not everyone needs to know what is going on. People, let's move."

"Does that include our mates?" Dakota asked, wanting to keep Blyana out of harm's way.

"For now, the safest place for them is with us," Eamon answered as he grabbed his mate's hand.

No one spoke as they recovened in the theater room. All of the visiting alphas were with them. It seemed whatever meeting they were having would just pick up were it left off with the explosion. Except for the fact that two traitors were now sedated in the infirmary, and Kael was unconscious.

"Eamon," Liam cleared his throat. "Where should we put them?" He motioned to the two unconscious individuals in his arms and Zoya's.

"I don't know. Just sit them in some of the chairs," he sighed running his hands over his face, suddenly feeling exhausted.

He felt his mate's arm snake around his waist. "Make sure they're touching," she added.

Once the two were situated, everyone else took seats in the first two rows. Eamon looked at Treasach who stood, but also motioned for his cousin to stand with him. When Eamon raised his eyebrow slightly, questioning his cousin, Treasach just laughed.

"Sometimes you seem more like the alpha of alphas then I do," Treasach shook his head. "This is your pack house. This is your meeting. When it comes to the war, that's when I am to play my part. For now, you address the grievances towards your pack alpha and his mate," he added with a smile.

"Well," Eamon turned to the waiting alphas and his packmates. "It seems we have quite a lot to discuss."

"Let's skip to the part where we talk about how Nia kicked ass," Zoya grinned.

"Daughter," Vladislav growled. "Behave. You are an alpha. Act like it."

"Father," she rolled her eyes. "I've been an alpha my entire life, so I don't know what you are referring to."

"Zoya," her brother growled.

"Calm down, Nikon. I'm not going to shame the family or anything. Besides, you should show me a little more respect. I'm mated, you're not," she smirked.

"Okay," Jacks dragged out. "If the Volkov family is done, then I think we should discuss how to handle our two sedated friends. I imagine figuring out the details of the bombing is on all our minds, but it seems a bit pointless since we know who planted it, what was in it, and everyone survived. So, what do we do with our lovely traitors," Jacks gaze was calculating.

"Well, before Jacks peels their skin off their bodies, maybe someone could catch me up," someone called from the back of the theater.

Jacks immediately ran to Jenna's side.

Jenna laughed, "Before you maul me, prego, can you please explain what's happening."

Jacks winced at Jenna's slip up, but knew it would be revealed soon when her stomach began to show. "Well, what happened? Let's see," Jacks grinned. "I was right."

"How could you possibly know you were right," Jenna shook her head. "There's no way you asked Treasach and‒"

"Not that," Jacks interrupted with a blush. "About you and Kael," she motioned to the hand her friend was clutching.

"Oh," Jenna sat back down in shock. "But what about what Sullivan said…"

"Yea it seemed a little fishy to me," Jacks rocked back on her heals, trying to stay casual. "So I pestered everyone until Nia figured it all out."

Jenna looked at Nia, knowing that she wasn't getting anything else form. Nia chuckled, "Don't look at me like it's my fault."

"You two are impossible," Jenna complained. "I thought you were supposed to be the level-headed amigo, Nia."

"That's one word for it," Zoya laughed.

Jenna, stop letting them get you worked up.

Jenna immediately shifted her attention to Kael who gave her a small smirk, but still did not open his eyes.

Does anything still hurt? she asked, testing their new mental bond.

I'm fine, but you might not be for much longer. I think Jacks and preparing to even the score, he answered before chuckling aloud.
