Chapter 38
Toronto Hospital
Team one couldn't believe the day they had. They first started with a good competition with team three and next thing they knew they were saving three kidnap kids and one of they own might had murder his father. And to put the cherry on top they only female member was pregnant from another member in the same team. No one could blame them, they all saw that coming, but they didn't figure it was the serious between them.
"Julianna Callaghan you could wait in exam room 4, your doctor would be right with you." One of the nurses said. "They could wait in there too, if you want." She said looking at the anxious and worried faces of the team.
"Yeah that fine." Jules said knowing that she was scare to be there alone, especially after today. The nurse led them to the room and Jules sat on the bed while Spike and Greg took a sit and Ed and Wordy pace the room.
"Jules everything is going to be alright." Greg said seeing the worried in her face.
"I know. It is not the baby I am worried about. It is Sam." Jules said and her tears started coming down.
"He's going to be ok too." Wordy said but they knew it wasn't the simple. Then her doctor came in.
"Jules what happen? As soon as I saw your name, I told them to move you. Where is Sammy boy, the daddy to be?" Doctor Miller said and looks around at all the teammates. Jules was too emotional to talk. Just the way her doctor recognize that Sam was her baby daddy, she knew that this was real, that Sam wasn't here because he might go to jail for killing his father.
"I am Greg her sergeant, she was kidnap today and also shot, we here to check on her and the baby." Greg said noticing that the doctor did care and was worried about her and Sam.
"And Sam?"
"Is complicate, he couldn't be here." Greg said trying not to give too much info. Then the doctor looks at all of them and then at Jules.
"Please don't tell me he is the person they talking about in the news from the SRU that kill his father with his mother as accomplice." He said and they all tense. Then they saw the shock and the sadness in his eyes.
"Is not like that. That man was abusing him." Jules snap.
"Hey honey, I am not judging him, Sam is a great guy and he would be an amazing father. I saw all that in his eyes. The same way I saw pain in his eyes, and I know he is going through something but he would get through it and next appointment I would love to see him here with you. Now let check on the baby and then you go be there for him and tell him that his baby is alright." Doctor Miller said and the team let they guard down. They realize that the doctor wasn't a threat.
"Ok." Jules said and sniff. Then she lay down in the bed and Dr. Miller raise her shirt. He pull the cold jell in her stomach and use the device to find the heartbeat.
"What he doing with that?" Spike asked.
"Looking for the heartbeat." Wordy said.
"Oh." Spike said and then they heard a stump sound.
"There it is, you baby heartbeat." He said and Jules started crying while everyone grins in relief.
"Thank you." Greg said and you could hear the relief in his voice.
"Honey your baby is fine. And you would be fine too because your strong. Now let me check the bullet wound and then you could go home." He said and check on her arm and realize that it was a grace and he stitch it himself and patch her up.
"Thank you so much Dr. Miller." Jules said after she had calm down.
"Anytime honey, now here pictures of your baby. And please no more kidnapping, I don't think I could take it." He joke then he turn serious. "Please give my regards to Sammy boy and I hope everything turns out alright and I hope to see him in the next visit." He said and with that said his goodbye and left.
"I like him." Spike said.
"Me too." Jules said.
"I am glad the baby is fine. Now let get to the barn and get the kids and figure out what the hell happen with Joshua and how we are going to help Sam." Greg said but before they could walk out Jules stops them.
"Ed." Jules said because she notices that he hasn't spoken. She had a feeling that he might be mad about the baby and betraying the team again.
"What going on Eddy?" Greg asked.
"Are you guys mad at us because we hook up again behind the team and now we having a baby." Jules asked quietly.
"I am not." Spike said and Wordy also nod. Then they turn on Greg and Ed.
"Jules I am not mad at you guys and I happy for you guys. I am mad about everything else." Greg said.
"I know me too." Jules said and waited for Ed.
"I am happy for you guys too. Having a baby is the most precious thing in the world so I am happy that you both getting what you guys deserved. I am just pissed off that the man abuses him for so long. That he was behind of all of Sam pain just because he such an asshole and thought he could get away with it. I am piss that the damn woman kidnaps those kids and those babies were there to watch everything that happen because she wanted to protect them from the most noble and caring person I have ever met. Sam could be everything, cocky, arrogant, but he never fails to be there for his family. He never fails to be there for anybody regarding someone safety. And this is how they treat him. This is how it had to get before somebody notice that he being so abuse that he had to kill his own father. Because no matter what happen, we know it was him that killed him not his mother." Ed snaps and punches the wall while Jules sob from the same pain that she was feeling for Sam.
"I know Eddy we feel the same. It hurt to see that Sam has being abuse like that for years. It hurt that some people don't see the good side of him, but just what happen because of circumstance that was not his fault. But what hurt the most was that no matter what happen we still don't know how to help him because he is so broken, that we might just lose him after all the effort he has done to survive." Greg said and they understood that this wasn't over and even if Sam get out free of charge, Sam is broken and the pieces are so small that it would be so hard to clue them back.
"We would save him, not just for those kids, Jules and her unborn baby. But for Sam, because I refuse to lose faith and not believe in god, he wouldn't prevent us from saving a person that needs help and needs to be save more than Sam should be." Spike said with tears in his eyes.
"I agree with Spike we just need to keep positive and we would all get through this. Now let go to the barn and see what else is going." Greg said.
"Alright." They said in unison and they left the hospital in each other thoughts.
SRU Headquarters
"Jules are you alright?" Winnie asked the moment they walk in.
"I am fine and the baby too." Jules said knowing Winnie would want to ask but would feel weird around the team especially with the rules.
"I am glad." She said and you could hear the relief in her voice.
"So Winnie where are the kids?" Wordy asked.
"They are sleeping in the lounge with Natalie. We gave them food and blanket and left them alone." Winnie said.
"That's good. Let not disturbed them now." Greg said and walk to the conference room where team three, two and Holleran where sitting there.
"Sit down guys. We all need to have a long chat." Holleran said and he seems angry but no one knew at whom.
"Yes sir." They all said and sat down.
"No please let start from the beginning, because for the life of me I would like to know how one of my team members walk away without anyone seeing him and went across the city to kill a general." Holleran snap.
"Around 6:30 in the morning Sam and I got into an argument about telling the team I was three months pregnant. We love our job and we both feel bad about breaking the rules and misleading you guys. But we love each other more and we were scare, at least me that I would lose you guys. I know I can't continue working here, not only because of the baby but because we broke the rules, and whatever Sam is dealing with I doubt he will be back too and I am sorry for that. Anyway we talk and agree to tell you guys at the end of the week. He left and Rose the babysitter and I got the kids ready. Around 7:30 am Rose and I got into an argument about Sam. She doesn't believe that Sam and I belong together and that I wouldn't be a perfect mother to his kids because I work here. Then that is when we heard the gun shot. We ran to the living room and Elena the social worker had a gun to Alyssa head. I try to negotiate, but Rose kept getting agitated and screaming at her. Next thing I know she shooting and I am pushing Rose out the way. The bullet graces me but the kids were trembling from how scare they were. Then she usher us to her car and drove around until we stop at her place." Jules said while trying her best not to cry.
"We were here about to compete against team one when we receive the call of shot fire in a residential home. Sam knew before Winnie said his address and we all got in the car and went to his house. We access the situation but they were no leads. Then Sam runs out the house and jumps in the car and Joshua manage to climb in before he left and we just follow them. We arrive at the Royal Hotel and Sam walk straight to a conference room and started beating on his dad. We manage to separate them and Sam accused him of taking the kids. For some reason Sam believe he didn't and then left." Donna said admiring how strong Jules is to admit everything.
"The general and his soldier were piss but we were piss too and we have suspicions that they have being abusing Sam." Greg said and team two gasp. "Anyway they wanted to arrest Sam, but I turn it around and said that they were the prime suspect in the kidnapping and that we have an investigation regarding bruises that Sam has being receiving twice a year." Greg said.
"And I threaten them to kill them if they touch Sam." Joshua said.
"Don't tell me stuff like that. You're as much as in trouble as Sam is right now." Holleran said and sighs.
"Yes sir." Joshua said but you could see it in his face that he didn't regret what he said. He was defending his best friend and no one was going to change that.
"Then we found out it was the social worker. We follow procedure and try to get her to open up. She wanted Sam inside the apartment and nobody wanted to send him in. But who could stop Sam and Joshua there?" Donna said pointing at Joshua.
"What you mean you couldn't stop Sam and Joshua?" Holleran asked.
"Well sir, they're special ops. They would have taken all of us out before we realize it." Donna said and they all nod and Holleran glared at Joshua.
"You would have done the same." Joshua said.
"Yeah I would." Holleran said knowing that if he was there he would help Sam get in. It's just an army thing.
"As soon as we got the kids out we try to get her to pull the gun down. But Sam snaps and provoked her. She aims at me and Steve jump in the way." Jules said.
"I went in and I was too late, she had shot Sam and Steve and I shot her dead. Then I manage to check on Jules and Steve, next thing I know Sam is gone." Ed said.
"How you guys knew he went after his father?"
"When we found out the kids were here. We didn't know that team two would bring them here and we knew Joshua had switched his plans for a reason." Greg said and they look at Joshua.
"I knew they would go after them. I knew they would make Sam suffer if he survives by killing those kids. I talk team two of faking a decoy and Troy and I stay behind. And just like I predicted they show up and try to kill them. But Troy and I were faster and we kill them."
"And you guys couldn't catch one so we could turn him and get some answer." Ed snaps.
"No." Joshua said.
"Why not?" Ed snaps again his frustration building.
"Because you don't know what they put him through. You didn't see the pleasure in their faces when they hurt him or when they try to hurt the kids. Because you haven't grown up with Sam and realize that he being abuse twice a year or more by the same people. You haven't being in training when his father order everyone to hasted him and jump him and expect him to be there the next day beaten, bruises to do his job. You haven't seeing Sam get beaten and left to die by his own father people on a mission. No they didn't deserve to live. And the only reason they not torture and open from head to toe is because we needed it prove that they broke in to kill the kids." Joshua snaps and started crying.
"That can't be true." Spike said while everyone continues silence and Jules and Joshua cry.
"It is true. I know the story and I seeing it myself. Sam had a hard time in the army. He used get extra work and extra training. He never got rest and sometimes we do some of his duty because it got the point we felt sorry for him. He was the general son and some guys didn't like him for that and gave him a hard time, but the moment they realize that Sam was not a bad person and that he wasn't getting special treatment they opinion change. But the hasting never stopped, and through all that Sam always came at top. Sam always makes sure he completes his mission and never gave up. I would give my life for Sam anytime." Troy said and for the first time, the SRU members realize that Sam is an amazing person and that he earn they respect just because they knew that he was a fighter and never give up.
"I am sorry Joshua; I am just worried about him." Ed said and everyone understood.
"I know we all are. But I need you guys to understand that I would do anything for him and his family. Sam grew up in hell and it is not fair he continue living there. He deserved to be happy." Joshua said and wasn't a dried eye in the room.
"We just need to be there for him now. And help him get through this trial." Donna said.
"That is not the main problem right now." Jules whisper.
"How come? He is in jail for killing his father."
"It would never get there. Sam is going to come out free." Joshua said.
"Why are you so sure?" One of team member from team two asked.
"His mother would never let him take the blame for it."
"Sam won't let his mother take the blame either." Wordy said.
"No, but he won't have no choice."
"But it is clearly that Sam killed him."
"No it is not. We weren't there; we don't know who kill him." Joshua said.
"They won't believe it. Sam is a sniper." Another one asked.
"And so is his mother. She trained too." Joshua said and they gasp.
"Whoa now we really not sure who kill him." Someone said but team one, Joshua, Troy, Donna and Holleran knew in their heart that it was Sam.
"Ok, everyone go home. Let continue with our lives and team one you guys on leaves until this problem is solve. And Jules I know it could be too much right now, but when thing settle we need to talk about the job."
"Yes sir." Everyone said and with that everyone got up except team one and Joshua.
"So Jules what are you and the kids are going to do now." Wordy asked.
"They're coming with me." Joshua said before Jules could answer and they stared at him confuse.
"To your house?" Spike asked.
"No."
"Joshua, I respect your loyalty to Sam, but no more secrets. We care too." Ed said and Joshua sighs.
"We don't know if the general had a back plan just in case he got killed. Basically what I am saying that Jules, the kids and Natalie could still be in danger." Joshua said and notices the wide eyes of his coworkers, especially Jules.
"Sam?" Jules said.
"Yeah, we don't know if he makes it through the night. We took out the four closer soldiers to the general, but he is an asshole and he could have someone do his dirty work if he was killed, especially if it was his son. He would have wanted pay back even from grave."
"We need to warn them." Wordy said.
"No."
"Why not?" Spike snap.
"Because the moment they change plans that when they get the opportunity to killed Sam." Greg said understanding it.
"So you mean we need to go home and forget that someone might kill Sam or his mother tonight." Spike snaps again.
"Yeah." Jules whisper, understanding that she might lose Sam no matter what.
"No we can't do that." Spike said again.
"He is dead anyway Spike. Sam is dead, it just a matter of time. You need to realize that Sam is gone and we might never have him back." Jules said.
"Don't say that. I refuse to believe that." Spike yells.
"He killed his father, his kids got kidnap. I got shot and he being abuse for years. All he sees is how he hurt his family. Sam is gone. It would only take a miracle to get him back, if he doesn't kill himself first." Jules said and they all knew it is true.
"Well I am going to go find the miracle." Spike snap and walk out.
"He just needs time. We all do." Wordy said.
"We know Wordy but we need to realize that Sam just got to the point where he fell of the cliff and now he is borderline suicidal." Jules said.
"We promise we would catch him and we will." Wordy said and also walk out.
"I hope we do, because I can't lose him like that. Not like that. Not for blaming himself for things that weren't his fault." Ed said and also walks out.
"Where are you taking them?" Greg asked Joshua.
"Safe house. Here, it's untraceable phone." Joshua said and gave it to Greg and also got up to get Natalie and the kids.
"Jules…"
"I know. We help him get through it. I can't think about it tonight. I just can't. I hoping he makes it until tomorrow." Jules said and with that got and left too.
"I am hoping he makes it too and maybe, just maybe we have a chance of saving him." Greg said and we that also got up and left.
