Shelby woke up with morning sickness early the next morning and Adam was right there beside her. "It's okay." he said as he held her hair back. "How about some tea and crackers? To settle your stomach." She nodded as he got up and headed downstairs to get them for her.
She brushed her teeth and went back and sat back down on the bed. "Feeling a little better." He asked as he came in with the tea and crackers.
"A little." She said softly. "I'd be even better if we could lay back down for a little while."
"Drink a little tea and then we will lay back down." She nodded and took a sip of it. Once she had, they laid back down. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him. "You just rest now baby. I'll be right here if you need anything." She smiled and snuggled close to him.
Whitney looked around the hotel where the reception for the christening would take place. She and John had already met with the officiant for the ceremony.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Carol said to her.
"It is." Whitney smiled.
"Well I talked to the event coordinator and we decided on the food and décor. I figured a simple buffet would be best."
"I agree." Whitney replied. "John and I wanted something simple."
"I understand." Carol replied. "So, when are the Godparents getting here?"
"In a few days. John and I chose Shelby and Adam"
"How are they?"
"They are good. They just found out they are expecting." Whitney smiled. "And I'm so happy for them. Our family just keeps getting bigger."
"Yes, it does." Carol smiled. "I hate to bring this up because this is a happy occasion. But are you going to use the same christening gown as you did when you and John christened Ella before her funeral."
"No. We packed that up after the funeral with her other stuff."
Carol nodded. "Then it's a good thing I bought another one."
"What?" She asked her.
Carol smiled and handed her the box. "I saw this the other day and I thought it was perfect for Logan."
Whitney smiled and opened the box. "It beautiful." She smiled when she held up the white satin romper.
"I figured for Logan. You should have an outfit not a gown."
"Thank you." She smiled. "Logan will look perfect in it."
"I'm so glad you like it." Carol said smiling and hugging her. "I was hoping you would. And nothing is too good for our little man."
"I agree." She smiled.
"Well, we have everything set for the christening. So what do you say we head back to the house and make sure the guys aren't teaching Logan bad habits." Whitney laughed and followed Carol out. She only hoped Shelby and Adam had the kind of happiness she had.
Shelby and Adam sat in the exam room waiting on the doctor. Both were excited to find out everything about their baby.
"Alright Shelby. How are you feeling?" Dr. Wallace asked as he walked into the room.
"I've been nauseous."
"Well I can give you something for that." He replied. "Now, let's do an ultrasound and we will see your baby." The doctor put the gel on her belly and moved the ultrasound machine around. "And there it is. There's your baby."
Adam smiled when he saw it. "That's our baby." Shelby smiled back when he said it.
"Everything looks good. Good strong heartbeat." He said printing out a picture. "I want to see you in a month. If you have any questions or concerns, call me. I will get you a prescription for the morning sickness."
Shelby nodded and the doctor walked out. She looked over at Adam with tears in her eyes. "That's our baby."
"That's our little girl." He smiled.
"And what makes you think it's a girl."
"Just a feeling." He leaned in and kissed her. "And she'll be as beautiful as you are."
"And if it's a boy?" She smiled.
"No, it's a girl. I'm sure of it."
"I guess we will just have to wait and see."
"Yes. We will" He smiled and kissed her. "But I'm right"
She laughed. "Right. Let's head home. We have to pack and get ready to go Boston."
"I'll be the one packing for us. You and our daughter need to rest."
She laughed. "You're going to feel bad if it's a boy and all through everything you kept calling him a girl."
"I'm not wrong. It's a girl. I'm certain of it. Now, let's get ready for Boston. We have a christening to attend." He took her hand and they headed out. Their flight to Boston was the next morning.
The next morning Adam leaned over Shelby and kissed her softly on the forehead. "C'mon baby. We have to go now. You can go back to sleep on the plane."
"No, I don't want to." She said turning over.
"We have to catch that flight to Boston. We can't miss our godson's christening."
"Alright. But you promise I can sleep on the plane?"
"I'll let you sleep on my shoulder the whole time."
"Good." She smiled.
"Well go shower and I'll take our bags downstairs." She took a shower and came back down a few minutes later. "Alright. Let's head to the airport and get to Boston."
She nodded as they made their way to the waiting car and were soon on their way to the airport. They checked into their flight and sat down to wait for the boarding call. She leaned her head over on him and he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her on the forehead again. He heard the flight called and they boarded the plane.
"I can't wait to see what they have planned for the christening."
"Neither can I. We will have to plan one soon."
"We have months before that." She replied. "You picked up the gift right? I ordered and you were suppose to pick it up." She looked at him. She had picked out a beautiful silver rattle and had it engraved with Logan's name. "Adam, tell me you picked it up."
"It's in the carry on. You don't have to worry okay?"
"I just want this to be perfect for Whitney and Logan. She's waited so long for this. I know she had Ella christened. But it's not exactly the same and I just want to give her something beautiful."
"Everything is going to be fine. You'll see."
"I know. I just want this to be perfect."
"And it will. Whitney and John's mom have been planning for a days. It will be perfect." She nodded. "Now you just relax okay?"
"Yes." She rested her head on his shoulder as the plane took off and they headed to Boston. She couldn't wait to see everyone.
Whitney stood in the terminal waiting for the plane to land. She hoped Shelby was alright with the flight.
"Relax, baby. I'm sure the flight was fine." John said as he held her hand.
"I know. I'm just ready to see her." Her smiled widened when Shelby and Adam came into sight. "You're here." She said hugging her.
"You saw me a few days ago." Shelby laughed as she hugged her.
"I know but I'm so excited." Whitney pulled back to look at her. "You feeling okay? Do you want or need anything?"
"I feel fine." She smiled at her sister. "This trip is about you and John and Logan. More about you and Logan. John is just an afterthought."
"Thanks, Shel." John laughed.
"You know what I mean. I am a little hungry though. Can we go somewhere and eat?"
"Sure." Whitney smiled.
"Where is my nephew anyway?" Shelby asked.
"He's being spoiled by Carol and Fabo and the whole Cena family." Whitney laughed.
Shelby smiled. "That's good."
"Yep. So let's go eat." Whitney smiled as they headed out of the airport. They got into the SUV and were on their way. "What did you want to eat Shel?"
"A gigantic taco salad with extra sour cream and salsa."
"And I know the perfect Mexican restaurant." John said as they drove. "They have the best taco salads."
"Good. I'm so hungry."
"Well we will be there in a few minutes." John smiled. They drove for a ten minutes more and John pulled into the restaurant parking lot. "Well here we are. El Pore Loco. The best Mexican in Boston."
"Good. Because I'm starving."
"Then let's go eat." Whitney replied. They got out of the SUV and headed in. Once seated they gave their orders to the waiter who brought their drinks and some chips and salsa. Whitney looked at Shelby. "What did the doctor say?"
"Everything is good. He gave me something for morning sickness. But all in all, everything is good."
"So when are you due?"
"Right around Labor Day."
"Oh having to carry during the hot summer." Whitney replied. "I'm sorry." She smiled.
"It's alright. It'll be worth it in the end."
"Yes it will." Whitney smiled. They finished up breakfast and then headed to John's parents' house. They had tons to do before the christening.
