Onwards with the upcoming war!

37 January 6 1995

Jennie flew around Grimmauld Place number 12 and tried to do everything she had to do at the same time. It didn't work out that well.

"Why, oh why", she muttered as she dashed into the kitchen and checked on the chicken in the oven. Realizing that the bird was nowhere near done, she hurried upstairs into the living room and glanced around the room; it looked shiny and spotless just as it had five minutes ago.

"What are you doing?"

She whirled around, ready to speak, but was silenced by hot lips and warm arms.

"Mm… hello… I'm fidgeting and feeling useless as usual…" she admitted when Sirius released her with a cheeky grin.

"Useless? That's a load of bullshit, love. You're everything but useless!" he told her sternly and then proceeded to kiss her senseless and maneuvering them both down onto the couch.

Jennie gave a little moan as he nibbled on her lower lip, begging for entrance which she was all too happy to give.¨

"War… visitors… you taste good…" she murmured between kisses and he chuckled and his and hands flew around her body, slowly warming her up.

"We have another hour until we have to play nice hosts."

Sirius looked down at the sleeping blond on the couch. She'd fallen asleep during a pause in the kissing, and since he saw no reason to wake her, he decided to let her sleep while he checked on the chicken in the oven.

The smell in the kitchen was divine and he grinned as he peeked at the bird.

"Isn't it done soon? I'm starving!" complained Harry as he walked inside the room.

"Hi there kid! Up for kitchen duty?"

"Nah, not up for it but I'll help anyway if I get food faster that way", his godson said with a grin and Sirius snorted, amused by the teenager.

"So, peel potatoes and tell me more about school, how are things since the last report?" he asked the black haired boy as he seated himself by the table and began making salad.

"Difficult to say… some are openly against professor Dumbledore and some are openly with him while some are like in between. I think some wants to go home but they're too afraid to, have you realized how many deaths there have been in the past months?!"

"I know kid, I know. I'd like to say that things will work out fine soon, but I don't believe in giving people illusions… did you talk to Remus about the defense group?"

"I did, and he said he'd love to help; head been thinking among the same lines as you actually, and he wondered if you would come along."

Sirius pondered over this. On one hand, he'd love to help the kids, on the other he didnät want to leave Jennie. Selfish, really, but it was the truth.

"I think you should help, handsome."

He blinked, surprised to hear her voice.

"That was a short nap", he commented softly as Jennie strolled into the kitchen and gave Harry a hug while snorting at him.

"I was dozing of silly, you could've poked me!"

"You were not dozing, lady, you were sleeping!"

"Was not!" she scoffed and threw a paper ball at him with a smirk.

"Was too! And yes, I now that the logical thing is to help Remus, but I don't-"

"Oh c'mon! I'm a big girl; I can take care of myself! Besides, Albus already told you that he would appreciate your help at Hogwarts!"

"I know, I know! But I'm a little selfish! I mean, face the facts Jennie, you're not a witch."

She looked sad and he didnät like that look on her; in fact he hated to remind her that she was different from himself and Harry.

"I know that very well, darling, but I can still help", she pointed out and sneaked up behind him and began dragging her fingers through his hair.

"Mhm… I know you can, I'm just… I really don't want you to get hurt."

"Right back at you, dog."

She hugged him and the stole a piece of cucumber.

"Even so, I think someone has to hold the forts here; and it's not like you would be at Hogwarts every day."

Harry found it interesting, the way Sirius and Jennie interacted with each other. He would like to have that connection with someone; he was sure it made things easier.

He went on with peeling the large amount of potatoes, and there was silence in the kitchen for a while, and then Harry decided to voice some of his thoughts.

"Hey, you guys?"

"Yes?" echoed the voices of his guardians.

"I'm scared… and jealous of you two… and I don't want to be part of this shit! I don't want to be the one in that fucking prophecy!"

A week ago he had sat with Jennie and Sirius in the living room while Headmaster Dumbledore had told him the absolute truth about the night when his parents were murdered, and what the consequences now where. It was crazy, unrealistic and frightening.

"Oh Harry, sweetheart come here!"

He really didn't know how he ended up in Jennies lap on the floor, but she held him and rocked and even though he felt childish for crying like a baby, he also realized that perhaps threw couldn't be more time for tears, so he simply let it out, vaguely aware that another arm hugged his shoulder as well.

"That's it kid, let it out, you'll feel better", his godfather mumbled softly and ruffled his hair.

Later, Harry sat with Blacky in the living room. They had eaten, and talked some, and then each of them had departed to be alone; it was as they all understood that they needed their own time.

Harry did, however, admit that it had been good to cry and voice what he really felt since he hadn't reacted at all when Dumbledore had visited them.

Blacky barked and wagged his tail; the dog was now large bordering on enormous, but still had the mentality of a pup, playful and cute and all in all very uplifting.

"Good dog", Harry complimented the animal and scratched his ears.

Sirius glared at the wall and fired of another curse; it blazed burning blue ion the room, quickly followed by green, red and orange and then he sunk down on the floor and released his wand from the iron like grip and it fell clattering on the floor.

Sometimes, he wondered what the point was… everything was dark, no matter what shade he seemed to see, everything was truly dark and moody.

####

Jennie was tired. Tired of feeling like a burden, tired of the sadness she could feel in the walls and her two darling boys. Tired of the general darkness that had spread across the land over the past months. She hoped that somehow, someone would bring an end to the moody shadows, and she prayed that it wouldn't have to be Harry, that somehow, the prophecy could be undone, or at least get some other meaning.

She knew it was a fools hope, but it was all she had, so she held on to it, and hoped some more.
