p class="MsoNormal"The machine was still running by the evening, so I grabbed everything ready to leave. I entered the lounge and as I made my way to the elevator Pepper called out to me./p
p class="MsoNormal""Enya, stay for Chinese. You missed dinner."/p
p class="MsoNormal""I'm fine thank you." I replied pressing the button on the elevator./p
p class="MsoNormal""You haven't updated us on any progress." Eric looked at me from a white box. He had two sticks in his hands. Small sticks, finely carved./p
p class="MsoNormal""I'm awaiting progress. Miah says Rome wasn't built in a day." The door opened with a soft ping and I got in, keeping my bag on my shoulder./p
p class="MsoNormal""Enya, where are you sleeping?"/p
p class="MsoNormal"I didn't reply as the doors shut and took me to the ground floor. Jarvis wished me a good night as I shouldered my bag and wandered the streets of New York for a familiar shed. It was still there standing. I opened the door, crawling under the sheet on the foam and fell into a rough sleep. I was below freezing and although resistant to the cold, it was uncomfortable. My body was seizing up if I didn't keep my body moving occasionally. I fell asleep eventually, after finally settling into warmth./p
p class="MsoNormal"I awoke a few hours later, roughly two, it was early morning the traffic just starting up. Guessing it was around five o'clock I stretched, my shoulder aching terribly. It was difficult to move, the muscle seizing up. Grunting in annoyance I grabbed my belongings, changing my clothing to warmer attire and set off towards the tower. In the heavy snow it took longer than I would have liked. My footsteps were heavier. My shoulder was seizing up in the cold. My body ached with a coldness I had never felt. It was not a feeling I was accustomed to and I wondered how anybody survived in that weather. That lone put me off ever letting any of the girls going through that./p
p class="MsoNormal"Jarvis greeted me as I stepped into the elevator. I greeted him back and asked him not to disturb anyone. He agreed and that made me feel better. No music played as I rode up to the top. The smooth white walls being a bore and not much interest to me. When it opened its doors at the top with an audible ping I stepped out, dropped my bag on the chair and took out my tablet. I opened it up, sliding the two metal bars apart as my screen formed. It loaded instantly as I walked up the stairs to the lab. I sat on the desk facing my object as it still analysed data. It was taking a long time but I sat patiently and waited. I felt the heating intensify the moment I was in the lab. I didn't realise I was shivering. All day passed and nothing. So I left again in the evening; still reading more and more information on anything that could help cure Bruce. I liked technology the best, but that didn't mean I couldn't learn anything new. I loved knowledge. I just loved technology more. But all this was as fascinating as technology with all the mechanisms and variables. Another day passed of this when Pepper and Darcy came into the lab. I was sat reading leaning against the wall when they entered./p
p class="MsoNormal""Hey!" Darcy came over. "What are you doing?" I held my tablet up to them. "Reading? A book?" I showed the title on gamma radiation. "Trying to help Bruce?"/p
p class="MsoNormal""Have you eaten in the last three days?" Pepper asked me. I shook my head and Pepper tutted. "Jane, Darcy and I are going for food. We want to go see some snowy New York. Would you like to come?" I shook my head and Darcy grabbed my tablet from my hands. I had seen enough of snowy New York. I had felt it bitter bites along my body as I tried to sleep. I hadn't slept in three days either. Three hours in total for five days was starting to wear me thin./p
p class="MsoNormal""Food. All this isn't good for you. Food, shopping, it'll be good." I frowned at her as she pushed the two metal pieces together. They assumed the lack of food gave me my haggard look, and not this white stuff that looked pretty but was evil. It got into my shoes, and my clothes. It got under my skin and in my hair. It was wet and cold and would make me miserable if I did not have this warm lab to return to the next day. Pepper held out her hand and reluctantly I took it. She pulled me up and handed me scarf, hat and gloves. I put them on and Darcy grinned. "Let's get Jane!"/p
p class="MsoNormal"I followed them out the lab to the lounge where Thor and Jane was talking. They stopped when they saw us. "Where are you going?" Jane seemed happy. She was holding Thor's hand facing him. He seemed to be amused by something as he smiled to us too. I was not fond of Thor like I was Bruce. But I tolerated him for Loki. Although Loki did not tolerate him. But Loki was quick to accept blame and Thor was quick to judge. Both were wrong in so many ways. But talking to Loki about the matter did not change his opinion./p
p class="MsoNormal""Were are em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"we/em going." Darcy corrected. "Shopping and food. Come on." Jane gave Thor a hasty kiss and then grabbed her scarf and gloves from the floor. She pulled on boots and grabbed her bag from the hook./p
p class="MsoNormal""I love New York with the snow." Jane was happy as we stepped in the elevator. I still disliked the snow. I wanted the warmth back. Not this wet white stuff that seemed to attack me. Even fleeing from Canada did not give me this misery when I ran through parts of it to escape./p
p class="MsoNormal"However, I was glad I had cleaned up after breaking in to a house not far from here. I had been every day to keep clean but I needed a shower yesterday. It warmed my bones but my shoulder only got worse. Seizing up to the point I had to physical stretch it out with my other hand. It was becoming bothersome. I had medication but did not see reasoning to have it when I was supposed to heal as quick as Captain Rodgers./p
p class="MsoNormal"Once Jane was ready with her gloves at the entrance we stepped out into the cold./p
