"Why am I wearing a dress to this thing again?" Beca asked as she wiggled in her seat trying to get comfortable.
"You didn't want Katy to finger bang your tits again." Chloe answered. "Even though we both know you totally loved that." She teased.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Beca stated coyly, looking everywhere but her wife.
"Uh huh. I don't know why you're complaining anyway. It's not like you're the one that's nine months pregnant and has to maneuver this evening gown every hour just to pee." Beca looked at Chloe sympathetically.
"Baby, I told you, we didn't have to come."
Chloe smiled then leaned forward to place a quick peck to her lips. "I know but I wanted to come and see you win those four Grammys tonight."
"Okay, but promise me if you feel uncomfortable you'll tell me and well go."
"I promise."
"And the Grammy goes to…" Demi paused to open the envelope. She smiled, "One of my best friends, Beca Mitchell!" She announced and Chloe cheered as Beca stood and kissed her then hugged Diana and a few others who sat in her row before making her way to the stage. As Chloe sat back down she felt a sharp pain. She took a deep breath and listened to Beca's speech, trying to make sure she didn't show any sign of discomfort. She took slow, deliberate breaths and soon the pain subsided.
"Are you okay?" Diana asked from beside her after noticing the deep breaths.
"Yeah," Chloe answered. "I think it was a contraction."
"Was that your first one?"
"Yeah, guess we'll have to wait and see if they continue."
Diana smiled. "We may be in for an interesting night."
"What's wrong?" The brunette asked as soon as she made it back to her seat about twenty minutes later.
"What? Nothing."
"Chloe, I know your 'I'm fine but I'm not really fine' face." She said and Chloe smiled.
"Of course you do. And that's why I love you."
"Seriously Chlo, what's wrong?" She asked quietly as the crew set up for the next performer on stage.
"It's nothing, I just had ahhh-" She hissed in pain and clutched her stomach, this one hurting a lot more than the one before. Beca's eyes widened in concern, she watched as her wife took a couple of deep breaths. "It's fine." Chloe stated once the pain lessened. "It's just a contraction."
Beca's eyes about bugged out of her head. "Shit! Seriously? Ok let's go, we gotta get you to the hospital." She stated and started gathering their things in a panic.
"Babe." Chloe tried to get her attention. "Beca." But the brunette was busy putting all their free swag into her bag. "Beca!" Chloe took ahold of her wife's hands, stopping her actions, and gaining her attention. "It's fine. They're still really far apart and we have hours until we'll need to go to the hospital." Beca took a breath, calming herself down a bit.
"Sorry, I just-" She smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling. "We're going to have a baby really soon."
Chloe smiled back. "We are." They shared a kiss, Chloe cupping Beca's cheek.
"We should go." The brunette stated once the moment was over and they were getting ready to come back from the commercial break.
"Why?"
"I want you to be comfortable. Let's just go home, you can change into some pj's and we can watch the rest of this at home on the couch."
"Baby, I'm fine." Chloe stated again then cut Beca off when she opened her mouth to speak. "Besides, I want to watch my gorgeous wife win three more Grammy's."
Finally, it was just minutes away from the final award of the night for Beca. Chloe's contractions were getting closer but still not bad enough for them to leave, at least that is what she kept telling Beca every time she asked. But the fact was they were getting close to about seven minutes apart. She and Diana were keeping a close eye on them.
She felt another one coming on when the presenter came up to the stage announce the winner for producer of the year. Chloe tried to fight through it without making a face or sound from the pain and gritted her teeth. She held Beca's hand tightly, which was something she did every time her wife category was announced anyway, to help shoulder the pain. Last one, this is the last award. You can make it through this last one. Was the mantra she formed in her head.
But when Beca's name was announced and she stood to kiss and congratulate her wife-"Ahh!" She yelped, grabbing her stomach slightly doubling over in pain. Beca and Diana were both there to catch her. When she looked up she saw the wide concerned and astonished eyes of her wife.
"Holy shit! Did your water just break!?" She asked as all eyes were glued on them, as they expected Beca to be making her way to the stage. Chloe nodded her head, still trying to fight through the pain, clutching Beca's forearms for support. "Shit, we're about to have a baby. Ok, let's get you out of here. Now." Then looked at their friends sitting beside them. "Dem, can you get a car to meet us out front?" She asked and immediately Demi was on the phone as Diana and Beca began helping her out of the isle. By this time there was quite a ruckus starting, some people cheering after having heard the commotion. Others starting to stand to see what's going on, asking others around them. Soon the news spread as they got closer to the exit, the crowd was cheering, and the camera crew was following and in front of them trying to capture the excitement.
"Okay, the car is ready." Demi said as she pushed her way past the camera guy. "And I called Aubrey. She, Jesse, and the kids are already on their way." Talking about Charlie and Aubrey and Jessie's baby, Scarlet. Beca nodded and then looked at the camera right before they left with a smile. "Watch out America, there's about to be two Mitchell kids that will steal your heart."
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Okay good Chloe!" The doctor said as she coached the redhead through a push. "Just a few more."
"I can't." She pleaded then looked at Beca at her side. "I can't." She had decided to go with a natural birth. Beca agreed not wanting anything to affect the baby, but she also didn't like Chloe in this much pain. She knew she could have never been this strong.
"You can do this baby. You're so strong. You're doing so good." The brunette encouraged. "Just a few more and you can hold our beautiful baby girl in your arms." One hand held onto Chloe's, her other brushing the sweat and hair of her forehead. Chloe nodded and prepared for another push.
Outside the delivery room…
Charlie and Aubrey sat outside the door (Charlie insisted) listening to what was going on while Jesse sat in the waiting room with Scarlet and the others. "Why is Mommy screaming? Is she okay?" Charlie asked, his voice laced with fear and concern.
"She's alright buddy. Mama Beca is in there with her and so is the doctor." Aubrey answered as she brought the little boy onto her lap. "Your baby sister is on her way here. There's just getting her out of Mommy's tummy. Everything is going to be okay." She ran her fingers through his hair, trying to calm him and hoping he didn't ask any more questions. She really didn't want him to be the one responsible for scaring him for life. It seemed to do the trick as he started to relax from the ministrations of Aubrey's hand.
In the waiting room…
Ashley held Scarlett as Jesse, Demi, and Diana worked on fielding the calls from Beca and Chloe's phone from people who had seen what happened on TV or were at the awards show when it happened. (Artists and producers that had ever worked or befriended Beca and Chloe seemed to all be calling) All whilst, calling the each of the grandparents plus all the Bella's that hadn't been informed of the news yet. Chloe's parents were already on their way. Stacey, Ashley, and Emily had already arrived. And they were working on finding Beca's father and step-mother the soonest flight out of Georgia. Jesse still hadn't been able to reach Beca's mother who still lived in Maine.
"That's it Chlo, just one more push. You can do this baby." Beca coaxed and squeezed her wife's hand before she knew it they heard a loud cry and the doctor announced-
"Congratulations, you have a baby girl." He held the baby girl up so the two mothers could see their baby. They both stared in awe before the doc cut her cord and one of the nurses took her to clean and take care of her. Beca looked to Chloe, putting their foreheads together.
"You did it, Chloe."
"No, we did it baby." She corrected and brought Beca in for a kiss. "I love you so much." She said tears in her eyes. Before Beca could reply a nurse brought their crying new baby girl over to them.
"Alright Mommies, here's your baby girl." She passed the baby into Beca's nervous arms. Beca took her from the nurse, staring down at her daughter, tears beginning to drop.
"Shhhh, it okay." She cradled and bounced the baby in her arms and she started to quiet down and stare up at the brunette. "Hi Avery, I'm one of your Mommies." She turned more towards Chloe and smiled at the redhead who was also crying. "And here is Mommy Chloe. She loves you very much, just like I do." Beca handed Avery to Chloe, sitting next to them on the bed, wrapping her arm around Chloe's shoulders.
"Hey baby girl." They both stared adoringly at Avery as she stared back, but her eyes were already beginning to droop. It had been hard work to get to her Moms and now that she felt the soft caress of Chloe's finger on her cheek it seemed she couldn't stay awake any longer.
"She has your eyes." Beca whispered.
"She's so beautiful."
"She is. I can't believe this is my life." Beca said causing Chloe to turn her attention towards her. "I'm so happy." She explained. "I never thought my life could be this perfect." She kissed Chloe again and then settled to spend a few minutes alone with their baby girl.
"Do you want to go tell everyone and bring Charlie in before I need to feed her?"
"Yeah, he needs to get to know his baby sister." Beca smiled at the pair before getting off the bed. "I'll be right back."
Beca walked into the waiting room, Aubrey and Charlie had rejoined them after Chloe's screaming got a little too intense. "It's a girl!" She shouted, even though everyone already knew, they cheered and congratulated. Charlie ran towards her and she scooped him into her arms.
"Are you ready to meet your little sister, bud?"
"Is she here now?"
"She is."
"I want to see her."
"Okay." Beca answered then looked at their friends. "Just give us a few minutes with Charlie and then everyone can come in."
Beca opened the door to see Chloe had moved Avery and she was now lying on her chest. "Hey Buddy, come see your sister." The redhead stated, already moving the baby to where Charlie would have a better view. He walked over and with Beca's help climbed onto the bed. "Remember what we talked about, you have to be very gently with her. Especially her head." She reminded and he nodded.
"Hi Avwy." He carefully bent down and kissed her forehead. "I Charlie, you big brother." He looked at Chloe. "She sleeping. Why is she so small?"
Chloe smiled before answering as Beca sat in the chair beside them, taking pictures. "She was just born. She hasn't had time to grow yet."
"She's really tiny, so you're gonna have to be her protector." Beca said as she moved to the other side of the bed, taking a seat next to Chloe. "Think you can do that?" Charlie nodded.
"I protect her." He said, and then looked at Avery. She had been a little smaller than Charlie was at his birth, weighing 6lbs and 7 ounces. She definitely had Chloe's eyes and a very little hair (more of like fuzz.) And what hair there was, it was a strawberry blonde. Beca had hoped she would have Chloe's color of hair as well.
Chloe smiled at Beca, silently awing in the way Charlie had already cared for Avery. An overwhelming feeling came over her and she laid her head on Beca's shoulder, and spoke softly.
"This is the single greatest moment of my life." She took her free hand and ran her fingers though Charlie's hair, who had lain down across Chloe's lap next to Avery. "My beautiful son and daughter sleeping on me and the love of my life holding us."
Beca smiled and snuggled closer. "I know there will be an endless amount of happiness as long as we're a family."
"I know everyone is waiting to see us, but I want to stay in this bubble just a little longer."
"As long as you want Chlo."
A/N: So I think this is the "official" end to the story. Only thing that will be added is going to be one shots throughout the Beale-Mitchell family lives. I'm going to add them on to this story instead of individual segments, so you all can be notified when I write one. So keep on following/favoriting. I hope you've all loved this story as much as I loved writing it. It absolutely became so much more than I ever thought it would, so thank you all! And if anyone has any prompts that they want to see for our little family just send me a pm and I'll definitely try to write it.
