Prompt 43: "Are you drunk?"

(Castle)

"Are you drunk?"

Kate doesn't respond immediately, biting her lip and looking up at him through her lashes. "So what if I am?" she asks, mischief sparkling in her eyes and voice.

He gives her a disapproving look that she blatantly ignores. "Kate, you're nineteen."

She shrugs. "I'm not in public," she reasons. "My parents are here…somewhere. And besides, it's New Year's Eve; I'm allowed to have a little fun."

He sighs, resigned. His girlfriend (and he already gets enough flack for dating a college freshman. Gina accuses him weekly of having a mid-life crisis) is stubborn on her best days. Arguing will get him absolutely nowhere.

He wraps an arm around her waist, presses his lips to hers. "Just don't give your dad another reason to hate me, okay?"

Kate giggles, nuzzles against his neck. "If you want to get back in his good graces, you should probably stop kissing me."

"Never. Gonna. Happen," he says, giving her a little peck between each word.

She grins, taking his breath away for a moment. "Good."
