Both Liv and Fitz knew that a honeymoon, a proper one would be out of the question. Especially as he had accepted the nomination to run for his second term just before the wedding. It was a decision that he battled with. Wanting nothing more than to start his new life with Liv free of the White House and its responsibilities. Even more so after Mellie's latest stunt. But Liv, along with Gerry and a reluctant Karen all agreed that he had much to do and that in the end they want him to live with no regrets. To know that he gave it his all. So in the end their honeymoon was a weekend alone in Camp David. No interruptions which was definitely welcomed. They spent most of the weekend indoors just enjoying each other's company. They could almost pretend that in those forty eight hours, they were just like any other normal newlyweds.
A couple of weeks after the wedding, well into her second trimester Liv's stomach ballooned. While the rest of her stayed petite and almost unchanged, he stomach sported an impressive five months bump. While Fitz thought it was unimaginable to love her any more, he was wrong. Every day he spent with her made him love her more and more. The pregnancy gave her a glow that mesmerized him more than ever.
"Hi Baby, I'm off to pick up the kids. You still okay to cook dinner tonight?" She asked dropping a kiss on his temple as she ran her fingers through his hair. Fitz looked up from the files he was reading and smiled at her.
"Yeah, I'll be done shortly. You and peanut okay?"
"Yes Daddy, we're fine. We have Pey tonight too." She added.
"Ah yes, our other child." Fitz replied amused.
Though Gerry and Peyton had chosen to cool off they remained the best of friends. Which seemed impossible at first but their friendship was solid and that carried through. Fitz and Liv had their suspicions that they would eventually get back together, years down the road. For now Gerry and Peyton had both decided being in a serious relationship in their last year was too much pressure and opted to take a break but remain friends. They still spent a lot of time together but it wasn't so intense, which admittedly evoked relief from all parents involved.
"She's actually here in large part for Karen. She has her first date tonight remember? She's here to help her get ready. Stuff I used to be cool enough for before I became Stepmother!" She joked.
"Who agreed to her dating?" He asked outloud feigning memory loss.
"Would you rather have her sneak around? At least this way you have the muscle of secret service without having to look like the bad guy." She pointed out.
"That is true. So is she not staying for dinner?"
"The deal was he comes to dinner and they get to go out to the movies on their own, but with her detail."
"I suppose that isn't too bad."
"It really isn't. She'll be fine. Gerry vetted him."
"Well he can't be a complete doosch."
"Not a chance. Gerry is scarier than you. How do you think your beautiful daughter has not dated till now? It has a lot to do with her over protective, incredibly smart, intuitive jock older brother. Not only can he outrun them. He outsmarts them."
"And here I thought being the leader of the free world would be a little intimidating." Fitz said dryly.
"Not to your daughter who has you wrapped around her little finger."
"God help me there's now two of them." Olivia chuckled. They had found out after their honeymoon the sex of their baby and little peanut was indeed a little princess.
"Hmmm great. Something tells me I am always going to be bad cop."
"Not for the big things Liv. I swear."
"I'll hold you to that Grant."
