The Surprise That Would Change Everything-Part 35:
Jane and Maura rushed out of the elevator and were putting their jackets on as they raced across the area in front of the café. They hadn't even noticed Angela stood there.
"Jane!" she called out.
"Can't stop Ma. We need to pick Louisa up," Jane called back before stopping to look at her mother and saw Louisa sat at a table. Jane halted Maura and the two walked over to Angela and Louisa.
"Ma what is Louisa doing here already?" Jane asked confuse.
"Well I heard that you had landed a case so I thought I'd go and pick Louisa up," Angela explained, "that way she'd be back he and you wouldn't have to worry. I thought you got my message." Jane shook her head evoke checking her phone and seeing the message,
"Right well me and Maura are heading back upstairs," she informed her mother before heading off with the doctor.
Angela just stood there and looked horrified that they hadn't been to see Louisa. She looked over and saw the girl looking heartbroken and she looked around before going over to Louisa and sitting down by her and hugged her.
"They don't like me," Louisa whispered, "why did t they come and see me?"
"I don't know. They knew you were here darling," Angela said before going and getting Louisa something to eat and drink.
Jane and Maura had arrived back upstairs and walked into the homicide unit,
"Right so we know that the victim was eating hidden seafood T the Crab She'll but was allergic to seafood, which means that the killer knew about the allergy and needed an opportunity to slip the food into the meal."
Frankie looked at the two women,
"You were quick getting Louisa," he observed.
"Angela very kindly got her for us," Maura explained, "and sent Jane a text to tell her but we never saw it before we rushed out of here."
"Yeah well I should have checked shouldn't I?" Jane snapped before looking at the timeline again. Maura just sighed and headed back down to her office, not exactly pleased with Jane at all.
Frankie looked at Jane before looking at the timeline again.
"We need to focus on what happened inside the restaurant during the murder window," he said, thinking aloud.
"Well that's obvious," Jane said, "as soon as Korsak arrives with the footage I want you and Nina studying it, Frost is already doing bank activity and cell phone studies. Korsak and I are going to interview people that have already been picked up," she finished before taking off her jacket.
"Did you make any friends today?" Angela asked as she sat with Louisa in the café. The two were sat waiting for Jane and Maura to finish for the day, yet they didn't even know what time that would be..
"Yes, a girl called Jessica. She's in most of the same classes as me so it was lovely having someone to talk to like all the time," Louisa smiled before drinking some of her milkshake again.
Maura was on her way back upstairs when caught sight of Louisa and Angela sat there and an idea popped into her head so she walked over to them.
"I hate to ask this but is there any possibility of you taking little star home and getting her fed and sorted? I don't want her just sat here and I do t k ow what time Jane and I will finish," Maura told Angela.
"Maura you don't even need to ask. In fact if we head off now then we can get back to Beacon Hill without too much trouble," Angela smiled before Maura hugged them both and headed over to the elevator and upstairs.
Maura walked into the homicide unit and headed to see Frost, Nina and Frankie, determined to avoid Jane. The Italian had seen Maura arrive but was heading to collect a statement so just ignored her.
"Where's Louisa?" Frankie asked Maura.
"With your mother. It's the best place for her. Just do me one favour? Keep Jane away from me for now. No questions, just do it please," she said before looking at the CCTV footage. Nobody dared ask her why, they were just looking at the screens looking for anything suspicious, anything that could help solve the case.
