It's time for the second chapter of the day, and hopefully another will come later, but it's doubtful. This chapter will be about, as stated in the title, a double date and double battle! Shocking, I know. That's all I've really got to say, so let's get going!

SomeGuy: Thanks for the long review, I really do like reading everything you had to say. In regards to Cindy, I really don't know where to take her character, but I have an idea that I think I'll use in Laverre City, and I might have something for the Lumiose arc, though I'm not entirely sure about that yet. It's kind of difficult having to capture the daredevil personality and fitting into each chapter, but I'll definitely try to implement more often. Thanks for the review!

ShadowDragon9000: I'm kind of disappointed in the length of last chapter, too, but I'll make it up with this one. Next chapter may be long, but I'm estimating somewhere between 1,700-3,000 as a safe bet. And haha, rude thief is rude (and stupid) XD

guest: No problem! Thanks for voicing your concerns so that I could help address them :) And I won't make up any crazy explanations about stuff unless I feel like it would well-received, because I really hate reading stories like that, unless they have a valid explanation for why it happened. And great prediction!

MCMXCV: Yeah, it's about time. I was hoping I could make his joining a bit more intense, but I guess his choice was good enough. And they did almost die, but thankfully they didn't. I can tell you at least two characters in the story will die, so they might not get as lucky next time

Elodus: Distraction's kill my writing. I could probably be ten chapters further than I am if I didn't take days off to watch TV or something, but Kingdom Hearts is a damn good game! The furthest I made it in the first one was Aladdin's world (I don't remember the name, lol). Mind you, I was six at the time, so I guess it's kind of acceptable, but not really :3

Emboar-Man (guest): The Laverre City will be when Owen catches his fairy type, and Pikachu will not evolve. If he did, I don't think he would've learned any cool moves. Maybe Thunder, but he's not evolving so it won't happen :(

Defender31415: I'm surprised you're only the second reviewer to call Fate and CJ coming back, given the name of the chapter and all

"So you really took down that guy with the gun?" Pikachu asked as he was sitting next to Frogadier. "That's crazy."

"And don't forget awesome!" Tyrunt exclaimed with a smile. "I don't know if I could've done that. It's a good thing you were there instead of me," the prehistoric Pokemon told Frogadier, who laughed at the comment as he continued to eat his food near the five trainers.

"Thanks, Tyrunt, but I was just lucky that it was so dark outside. I don't think I could've done it in broad daylight."

"That's not the way you should think," Butterfree told Frogadier as if she were his mother. "Be proud that you did what you did."

"She's right, you know," Chespin proclaimed while patting Frogadier on the back. "I think the only other one of us that could've done that would be Haunter, and that's because she's a ghost," the grass type said with a cheeky grin.

"Thanks, Chespin," Haunter replied sincerely as she floated alongside Butterfree. The only one that hadn't complimented Frogadier was Charizard, but the water type was aware of the lizard's feelings towards him, so he didn't have to say anything.

(End Poke-Speak)

"When do you guys want to leave?" Owen inquired before sipping on his glass of water. It was around three in the afternoon, and everyone had just woken up because of the eventful day they had. After three battles and a kidnapping, there was a reason for why they slept in so late.

"I don't really care," Daniel replied as he cracked his back and looked over at his two Pokemon, who were getting along with the others incredibly well. Dragonair was busy talking to Charizard and Litleo while Dedenne was conversing with Brooklyn's Pokemon.

"We can go whenever, right? Aren't we a month ahead of schedule?" Brooklyn inquired. Owen nodded. They had been in Kalos for five months, and the league was still seven away, so they had time to spare now that Owen was halfway done with his badge hunt.

"Let's do something exciting!" Cindy shouted, breaking the calm flow of the conversation by flooding it with excitement and a sense of urgency. "Maybe when we go back to Lumiose we can jump of the Prism Tower again," the twelve year old proposed while giving Owen a devilish look.

"No way, I'm not doing that again," Owen shot back immediately, remembering when he and Cindy had almost killed themselves in his first month in Kalos.

"You jumped off the Prism Tower?" Daniel inquired through laughter, thinking Cindy was joking.

"Yeah, they did an entire news segment on it, too," Brooklyn answered with a serious tone, making Daniel's smile turn into a look of confusion, but he didn't bother asking another question. "You two are idiots," Brooklyn continued as she pictured the terrifying stunt in her mind for what must have been the millionth time.

"For the hundredth time, I didn't do it by choice!" Owen shouted before his PokeGear began to ring. He took the device out of his pocket and looked at who was calling him, and his eyes lit up for a second as he walked away from the table and answered the call.

"I wonder who called him," Eddy said, trying to keep the conversation going. "Maybe it's his parents."

"I doubt it, he hasn't talked to them once," Cindy informed the eight year old, which piqued the interest of Brooklyn.

"Really? He hasn't called them at all?" Brooklyn asked the younger girl, who nodded. "That's weird. I call my parents every night. What about you, Daniel?"

"Uhh..." the sixteen year old paused for a second and looked around at the three kids staring at him, making him sweat drop. "My situation's kind of complicated, so we don't talk that often," he replied. "I guess it's just a guy thing," he concluded, making a connection with himself and Owen that the others bought. While they continued to talk, Owen was outside the Pokemon Center, talking with someone.

"Yeah, it's been a while. Are you around Coumarine City?" he asked while the sun nearly blinded him.

"We've been here for a while. Where are you?" the voice asked in response, making Owen deadpan.

"We're in the dining hall of the Pokemon Center, where are you?"

"By the ships. I'll be there in a few minutes." With that, the call ended and Owen walked back into the Pokemon Center and sat down with his friends, who looked at him waiting for an answer.

"It was just a friend from home," he replied, making Brooklyn groan.

"Don't tell me it's Orange. I hate that kid," she said while rolling her eyes.

"No, he kind of disappeared off the face of the Earth. I haven't heard from him since the Unova League." Owen chuckled at Brooklyn's reaction - which was a sigh of relief - before he looked over at his seven Pokemon, who were still talking to each other. "How about we hang out near the battlefields? It's really nice out." Everyone nodded, and they headed out to the battlefields in the back of the Pokemon Center, where they sat down at an empty table. The Pokemon happily occupied the only empty battlefield remaining, and they began to play.

"I can't believe how well they're getting along," Daniel announced, making everyone turn to the Pokemon. "Dragonair isn't exactly good around people he doesn't know." Everyone looked at Dragonair as he was laughing next to Charizard and Litleo, both of whom weren't very talkative.

"I guess it's because they have similar personalities. Charizard doesn't really like talking that often," Owen told Daniel.

"Litleo's the same way," Cindy added. Daniel nodded at both trainers and continued to watch his Pokemon be accepted into the larger group of animals, making him smile before he turned back to the conversation.

"I wish I had a Pokemon," Eddy muttered while pouting.

"I could always catch you one if you wanted," Daniel proposed, making Eddy light up instantly. "You'd have to tell me as soon as we meet it, though. And I don't think it'll be anything incredible like a Charizard, for example," Daniel warned Eddy, who frowned at the news.

"Why can't it be something really strong? I don't want a really weak or boring Pokemon," Eddy shot back, making Daniel frown along with Owen, who spoke up.

"Eddy, every Pokemon can be strong if you train with it enough. Heatmor aren't considered to be strong, and they're not even thought of as one of the better fire types, but I had one and it was one of the strongest Pokemon I've ever seen!" Owen exclaimed, trying to prove a point.

"Owen's right. His Heatmor was incredible, so it's not always about the species, though some are stronger than others," Brooklyn added, making Owen smile.

"Hmph," the eight year old grunted while crossing his arms and walking away to play with the Pokemon. Owen shook his head at the bright kid, who was acting like a dunce, at the moment. Owen then looked down at his PokeGear and texted the person he had talked to earlier to tell them that they had moved to the back, and he grinned excitedly.

"So are we going to leave tomorrow? I don't feel like traveling today," Cindy asked the older trio as she yawned, still tired from the day before. Owen, Brooklyn, and Daniel shrugged and looked at where the sun was positioned in the sky before determining it was too late to start their trek to Lumiose City.

"I don't have a problem with that," Brooklyn said before looking over at her four Pokemon, who were either talking to Owen's Pokemon, or playing with Dedenne. Braixen seemed to be the one most engrossed in conversation with Owen's Pokemon, namely Butterfree and Haunter, who were the only other females at the moment.

"Sounds like a plan," Daniel concurred as he rose from his seat to go get another drink. He was stopped, however, when a couple walked towards their table with ecstatic looks on their faces. "Hey, uh, who are they?" the sixteen year old asked as he pointed at the two people walking towards them.

"Owen! Brooklyn!" the girl shrieked as she ran over to the aforementioned teens. Her black hair flew back as the wind blew in her face, and she hugged Brooklyn tightly. Eddy, Cindy, and Daniel looked on in confusion as Owen and Brooklyn greeted the two unfamiliar teens; a boy and a girl. Charizard immediately flew over to the two and hugged them while roaring, making both teens laugh while they began to pet the lizard.

"It's been a while," the boy said as he and Owen hugged for a second before breaking away. "How has Kalos been to you so far?"

"Uhmm..." Owen thought for a second as his mind raced through every crazy situation he had been in, especially when Team Grim was involved. "Interesting, I guess. What about you guys? Shouldn't you be in Hoenn?"

"We actually just moved out of my parents' house a month ago. We're living in Shalour City, but everything got destroyed their a few weeks ago," the girl said, making Owen and the others sweat drop.

"Ehem," Cindy said as she faked clearing her throat. Owen and Brooklyn looked at her and then realized they had forgotten to introduce their traveling mates.

"Oh! Fate, CJ, these are our friends, Daniel, Eddy, and Cindy. We're traveling through Kalos together," Brooklyn told the two teens, whose names were CJ and Fate. "Guys, meet CJ and Fate. They traveled with Owen through Kanto and Unova," Brooklyn stated, breaking the awkward tension.

"It's nice to meet you," Daniel greeted as he shook both CJ and Fate's hands.

"You guys seem pretty cool," Cindy said to herself, making Brooklyn roll her eyes while CJ and Fate laughed.

"Hey, I know you two! You saved Red a while ago and you competed in the Grand Festival in Unova!" Eddy screeched as he ran over to the couple and jumped up and down with glee.

"Don't mind him, Eddy knows everything about everyone," Owen said while wrapping his arms around his two friends. "He can recite each of my teams fro each region I went to and what place I got in each league tournament."

"It sounds like he's a lot smarter than you, Owen," Fate joked. Everyone laughed while Owen frowned at the remark. After that, Brooklyn and Fate exchanged strange glances that Owen and CJ didn't understand, but the two girls walked into the Pokemon Center.

"We're going to get some coffee and catch up!" Brooklyn shouted as she and Fate disappeared inside the building, leaving Owen and CJ with Daniel, Cindy, and Eddy.

"So how's your team looking?" CJ asked Owen as he walked over to the large crowd of Pokemon with Owen and Charizard by his side. "It looks like you've got another strong group," the sixteen year old said while patting Owen on the back.

All six of the Kalos Pokemon lined up and greeted CJ, who inspected each of them closely, always finishing with a friendly handshake. After shaking Haunter's hand, CJ looked the ghost type in the eyes before turning to Owen and smiling.

"It looks like you've got an interesting cast of characters, just like Unova."

"I guess," Owen replied. "I haven't had them out of their Pokeballs as often as I did in Kalos, so they haven't had as much time to hang out, but I think they're just as strong," the fifteen year old stated, making the group cheer and smile.

"How about we go get coffee with Fate and Brooklyn?" CJ asked as he and Owen looked back at the Pokemon Center.

"That sounds good. Would you guys mind watching my Pokemon for a little?" Owen quizzed as he, CJ, and Charizard walked towards the automatic doors of the Pokemon Center. The three traveling partners shook their heads and waved to Owen and CJ before they went inside. As soon as the doors closed, CJ stopped walking and turned to look Owen in the eyes.

"So, how are things going with Brooklyn?"

"Good, why?" CJ smirked at Owen's response before the younger boy realized what CJ was referring to. "Stop, I don't want to get into this," Owen said as he began to walk towards the dining hall. He was stopped, however, by CJ grabbing his arm.

"Dude, you can't be that oblivious." Owen gave CJ a confused look, which answered his statement emphatically. "Seriously? She likes you!" CJ shouted in a hush whisper. Owen scoffed at the information, but realized CJ was serious when he continued to stare at Owen like he was an idiot.

"I don't like her like that, though. We're just friends," he whispered back as people walked by them and Charizard. "Besides, it's not like I'd be able to ask her out or anything," Owen continued, making CJ laugh.

"You do like her, you idiot. And you can ask her out, because Daniel can watch your Pokemon."

"That's not what I meant. I don't have a reservation anywhere, so there's no where we can go," Owen stated before trying to walk away. CJ ran to his side and they walked into the dining hall, where Fate and Brooklyn were sitting.

"You can come with us! We have a reservation at some fancy restaurant, and I need a guy there. You don't know how many times I've had to have dinner with Fate's parents or her friends without any other guys. Please, just come."

"Fine," Owen spat as he and CJ made their way towards the girls.

(This takes place while Owen and CJ start talking)

"What do you mean you haven't told him yet? That's the whole reason you came here!" Fate shouted before taking a swig of coffee.

"I'm just nervous, okay? Besides, there hasn't been an opportune time to tell him," Brooklyn retorted before covering her face with her hands. "Ugh, I'm helpless."

"That's not true, you just have to tell him. That's what I did, and now we're living on our own in a region where no one we know lives," Fate stated proudly. "Owen's kind of dumb, so that's the only way he's going to know that you like him."

"He's not dumb, he's just... yeah, he's kind of dumb about this stuff," Brooklyn said in agreement with her friend and rival. "By the way, are you competing in any contests?"

"No, but I do perform occasionally at big banquets for companies," the fifteen year old replied. "I know you're competing, so how are you faring?"

"Awful. I haven't won a contest yet, and my Pokemon aren't exactly the strongest," Brooklyn muttered as she remembered Braixen and Amaura getting clobbered by Larenz's Pokemon.

"I'm sorry to hear that. How's Owen doing with his gym battles?"

"Really well. He only lost to Korrina in Shalour because of her using Mega Evolution and his Hawlucha didn't listen to a word he said. But he beat her the next time," Brooklyn replied as she recalled each of the Pokemon battling.

"Just like I expected. Anyways, you really need to tell him how you feel. He definitely feels the same way."

"Not a chance. He doesn't flirt at all! It's always battling with him. He only focuses on that and practicing."

"That sounds like Owen. Just tell him you were the girl at the masquerade party."

"What about the masquerade party?" a voice asked as two boys sat down at the table with Fate and Brooklyn. Owen was looking at both of the girls, waiting for an answer that was fabricated.

"It was fun!" Fate exclaimed with a huge smile. "That's when he finally realized he liked me," Fate continued as she nudged CJ with her elbow.

"That's right, even though I didn't know it was her," he stated before being punched in the arm from and angered Fate. Owen and Brooklyn looked on and laughed at the couple as they shot each other glares before smiling about their stupid argument.

"That was really fun. I still can't believe every girl there slapped you across the face," Owen recalled while laughing at CJ, who scowled at the memory while the girls laughed along with Owen.

"Well, we need to get going. See you guys later," Fate said as she yanked CJ out of his seat and left Owen and Brooklyn by themselves, sitting next to each other.

"Should I ask her out? What if she says no?" Owen thought to himself nervously.

"Should I tell him I like him? What if he doesn't feel the same way?" Brooklyn thought, nearly cringing at the crushing situation.

"Hey, I was thinking..." Owen started as he took a deep breath. Brooklyn looked at him, trying to contain her emotions. "...Maybe you'd want to, I don't know, go to a restaurant later?" the teen asked, a weight falling off his chest as he did so.

"Just us?" Brooklyn quizzed, making sure it was actually a date and not just another dinner with the others.

"Fate and CJ will be there, but they wanted me to ask you to come," Owen answered, making Brooklyn blush. It was a date!

"Yeah, that sounds nice," she said calmly.

"Nice? Try awesome!" she thought to herself before smiling at Owen.

"Great! I'm gonna go get dressed," Owen informed Brooklyn as he saw the time on his PokeGear, which read five o'clock. "I'll be waiting in the lobby in an hour."

000

Owen stood in front of the mirror and adjusted the red bowtie he was wearing before smiling as if someone was taking a picture. He frowned and adjusted his black jacket that covered his long sleeve dress shirt, which was blue, and he looked down at his brown khakis and nodded. He walked out of his room and had Charizard's Pokeball in his pocket just incase anything went wrong. His black dress shoes hit the ground and made an obnoxious noise until he arrived in the lobby and sat at a table, waiting for Brooklyn.

After several minutes, Brooklyn appeared and Owen stared at the blonde as she strutted towards him. She was wearing a crystal blue dress that stopped just above her knees and she wore a pair of blue heels. Her hair was also curled and hung to her right while she wore white ear rings.

"You look great," Owen complimented as they walked out of the Pokemon Center, where CJ and Fate were waiting in a car.

"So do you. I didn't know you had a suit packed in your bags."

"Neither did I," Owen replied as he opened the back door of the car for the girl, who laughed as she got in. Owen ran around the other side and sat behind CJ before they took off.

"Where are we headed?" Brooklyn asked CJ and Fate, who were talking about their electric bill or some other boring thing adults had to deal with, but they stopped once they heard Brooklyn.

"I don't remember the name off the top of my head, but I heard it's the best restaurant in all of Kalos!" CJ exclaimed, taking his hands off the wheel as he did. He quickly took control of the wheel when he saw the death stare Fate was giving him, and he slowed down his speed.

"Thank god. I'm starving!" Owen announced.

000

"That was disgusting," Owen muttered as he spat out the window. The three other teens laughed at Owen as he sat down and his face twisted as he thought of the disgusting food he had consumed, making him even more sick.

"I thought that was supposed to be the best restaurant in Kalos," Fate said, mocking CJ as she did so.

"I'm sorry that the reviews online lied to me!" the sixteen year old shouted before laughing about the five stars the place had received. "I guess those must have been jokes."

"You can say that again. I asked for a salad and they gave me grass," Brooklyn spat. Once they arrived at the Pokemon Center, CJ parked the car and the four teens walked into the building.

"Hey, how about we have a double battle?" Fate asked once they walked into the lobby.

"I like the sound of that," Brooklyn replied. With that, the girls dragged the boys to the back of the Pokemon Center after they got their Pokemon and changed. CJ and Fate stood on one side of the battlefield while Owen and Brooklyn were on the other, with all four holding a Pokeball.

"Wotter, come on out!"

"Angel, action!"

"Braixen, take the field!"

"Frogadier, I choose you!" The four Pokemon appeared in front of their trainers and they stared at one another as they realized that they were competing in a double battle. Wotter and Angel waved at Owen and Brooklyn, who waved back, and Fate started the battle.

"Angel, use Flame Charge on Braixen!" Angel began to slam her feet on the ground before she was covered in mass amounts of fire, and she charged towards the bipedal fox standing next to Frogadier. As she did, CJ gave Wotter his command.

"Back Angel up with Aqua Jet, Wotter!" Wotter nodded and was encapsulated in water before speeding through the air like a bullet, preparing to slam into whoever tried attacking Angel.

"Frogadier, use Water Pulse on the ground to protect Braixen!" Owen countered tactically. Frogadier quickly formed a ball of water in his hands and threw it on the ground right in front of Angel, launching the fire pig backwards while dealing a decent amount of damage.

"Use Psywave on Wotter, Braixen!" Brooklyn commanded, seeing Wotter speeding in towards her Pokemon. Braixen pulled the stick in her tail out and pointed it at the otter before releasing a wave of blue rings towards the water starter, who dodged the psychic attack and crashed into Braixen.

"Hang in there, Angel! Use Flamethrower!" Angel got back on her feet in an instant before unleashing a powerful wave of fire towards Frogadier, who was standing in front of Braixen.

"Wotter, keep it up with Razor Shell!" CJ shouted as Wotter landed in front of Braixen. The tiny Unova starter pulled the scalchop off his chest and prepared to slash Braixen with the energy that trailed the scalchop, but Owen and Frogadier were quick to come to Braixen's defense.

"Frogadier, use Quick Attack on Wotter to knock him away!" Frogadier turned and rammed into the smaller water type, sending him rolling into Owen and Brooklyn while the Flamethrower closed in on Frogadier and Braixen.

"Block the Flamethrower!" Brooklyn ordered while throwing her left arm straight out to her side. Braixen hopped in front of Frogadier and blocked the fire with her arms before countering with an Ember that pelted Angel.

"Retaliate with Flame Charge!"

"And use Hydro Pump!"

"Frogadier, use Smokescreen and grab Braixen before fleeing with Quick Attack!" After hearing the long command, Frogadier slammed his hand against the ground and a cloud of smoke covered him and Braixen while Wotter unleashed a wicked blast of water and Angel charged into the smoke while covered in fire. Once the smoke vanished, Frogadier and Braixen were gone, confusing Fate, CJ, and their Pokemon.

"Braixen, use Psywave!"

"Flamethrower, Angel!"

"Wotter, combine Hydro Pump with Flamethrower!" CJ shouted as Angel and Wotter stood in front of Owen and Brooklyn. The two Pokemon charged their attacks before firing at the same time, and they began to circle before turning into a spiraling blend of fire and water, which crushed through the blue rings of energy Braixen had sent towards them.

"Dodge and use Water Pulse/Ember!" Owen and Brooklyn shouted at the same time. Frogadier and Braixen jumped at the same time and unleashed a ferocious blend of their attacks, which crushed Angel and Wotter, who were knocked unconscious.

"Way to go!" Owen cheered as Frogadier leaped into his arms and cheered victoriously while Brooklyn smiled at Braixen and hugged her. Once Frogadier hopped off Owen's arm, he helped Wotter and Angel up along with Braixen, and the four starters all bowed in respect. Once that was over, Frogadier smirked and he was engulfed in a bright light that blinded everyone.

"I can't believe it! Frogadier's evolving!" Brooklyn exclaimed as the frog began to grow. Once the light faded, a tall frog was standing in front of Owen. His skin turned a dark blue while his underbelly was cream, and he grew two strange ears. His tongue was also sticking out and wrapped around his neck like a scarf, which was disgusting and cool at the same time.

"Greninja, the Ninja Pokemon. It appears and vanishes with a ninja's grace. It toys with its enemies using swift movements, while slicing them with throwing stars of sharpest water. New moves learned: Smack Down, Water Shuriken."

"Wow, Greninja," Owen muttered as the Pokemon looked at his hands and grinned. In the blink of an eye, Greninja disappeared and reappeared on a branch, hanging upside down by his feet.

"That's incredible!" Fate exclaimed as she and CJ withdrew their Pokemon. "Owen, Brooklyn, we have to go back to Shalour. It was awesome seeing you guys again," the fifteen year old said as she hugged both of her friends.

"Good luck with the Grand Festival and Kalos League. We'll both be cheering for you," CJ informed the two as he and Fate began to walk away. Owen and Brooklyn nodded and waved as their friends left.

"I had fun tonight," Brooklyn said suddenly, catching Owen off guard as Greninja began running around to test out his newfound speed.

"Me too," Owen told her with a smile. "We should do this again." Brooklyn smiled as soon as Owen said that, but he didn't realize why until he thought about what he had said, making him smile too.

"I guess this makes us a thing now."

"I guess it does." The two smiled and Brooklyn leaned against Owen, who wrapped his arm around her as they walked into the Pokemon Center with their Pokemon following.

I like to leave things off with cliffhangers or descriptions that sound like they could end a chapter, but this just felt right. So, Owen and Brooklyn are dating(!) and Frogadier evolved, so now he'll be useful! Next chapter will take a different turn and focus on Team Grim, and that will be conclusion of the arc. Till next time, peace out.

Next Chapter: "The Plan Unfolds": Team Grim's plans finally come to fruition, and they begin making moves to take over the Kalos region while showing no mercy in the process. What exactly are these fiends (namely Frank) up to?
