Right, so this little drabble goes with that one scene where Sam falls of the train in 'Control Freaks'. Why I made it? Well, see pale-blue11 (Yes, I know I mention her a lot… that's what you got when you start talking about DP) send me this picture where Sam also has a ghostly glow when Danny catches her. And somehow we got up with a theory… And it sounded interesting enough to write about it.

Theory: Sam glows because her body was preparing to die and become a ghost.

pale-blue11: You should totally write about that! :D

me: I should? O.o

my brain: *instantly comes up with one-shot*

Too close to death

Sometimes we have moments in life where things get too serious, too dangerous to ignore any longer. What happens further in those moments depends totally on luck and fate, and sometimes on having others around.

Like near-death experiences.

Those unexplainable moments where you look death in the eye and almost let go of life. Those moments when you can see your entire afterlife spread out in front of you. People often say that when you die you see your whole life passing in the blink of an eye. Like a movie, but much more realistic.

That was how it was for Sam the moment her foot slipped. One moment she was on top of a fast moving train, surrounded by evil ghosts and their crazy ringmaster. And if you looked at it like that, you could even say it was safer that she wasn't on that train any longer...

If it hadn't been for the fact that off the train only death awaited, ready to strike his unforgiving claws in the poor victim. On top of the train there was still hope, even in this dark hour. It was still worth the fight because none of them would ever leave each other.

So that's what she had done. She fought, fought to get back the life of her best friend in the world (maybe even her secret crush). As long as he wasn't free- controlled by that evil ringmaster like a puppet- she would fight.

But it took only one little mistake to turn the fight onto a much darker path…

Danny caught the crystal ball. But even that didn't seem to snap him out of the mind control he was under. So she jumped back to action, trying to reach him. She knew he was still there, under those merciless red eyes... She tried to reach him with the only thing that seemed to help earlier- hearing her voice.

But things never go as you wanted, and if that hadn't been proven enough that day, it went wrong again. Freakshow pushed her far away from Danny in his anger, and she stopped too close to the edge of the train.

There was not much time now. She knew it, she could feel it. The train had left Amity Park, and the only light around was coming from the full moon and the stars. Shadows seemed ready to jump up and the ghostly glowing from the evil ghosts made the night feel darker than ever.

She tried to convince him one more time, with something that seemed almost too final when it left her mouth. The ghosts were coming closer, and there would be no mercy and no savior this time.

The ice-cold sensation she felt when the ghosts reached out for her made her step back reflexively, trying to avoid the frightening present of death. She felt the ground disappear underneath her, and suddenly she was falling into the cold, black night.

Blood-red eyes watched her fall. The wind rushed past her with alarming speed, but her body could still feel the evil presence that seemed to fill the air. The stars moved away from her, leaving her on her own. There was no safety, no assurance it would be okay.

This was it- this was her end, her death.

And as soon as she realized it, she rebelled against it. Just like she did against anything.

She wasn't done, she couldn't leave, couldn't disappear. There was no way she would abandon Danny.

Blackness, dizziness, threatened to take over. She stopped screaming, feeling a familiar cold sneak up on her with that paranormal tingling. And she welcomed it. Even if this was her end, she wouldn't leave. Never. Not until she could get her Danny back.
