Then, before I could comprehend it, he sunk his teeth into my neck. I felt the pain and knew it.
This was only the beginning.
Gilan POV
I jolted upright from where I was laying. My breath came in labored pants and my heart raced. Ally…What I had seen…I wasn't even certain.
"Gilan? You okay? You look like you just saw a ghost." I turned my head to the side to see the light hazel eyes of Evalia staring at me. I rubbed my hand on my face.
"Yeah…I'm fine…I saw…I saw Ally." A look of concern and confusion flashed over her face.
"What do you mean 'you saw Ally'? How?" I shook my head.
"Honestly, I don't know. I was dreaming…then suddenly Ally was there. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but I knew what she meant. I could see the desperation in her eyes. I could feel her pain." She put a hand on my shoulder.
"Gilan…I'm sorry…I don't know how that happened or even why, but…" She stopped and got a look on her face.
"What? Evalia what is it?"
"An idea." She went over to her mom and had a quick conversation. I couldn't quite catch it, but as Evalia was talking, her mom got a look of inspiration. She shook Teyran awake and told him something as well. Then the three of them came back over to me.
"Gilan", her mother said, "What you have is something very rare. It is a bond between you and Ally. It allows you to, how should I say, connect. Your emotions travel across one another, and in extreme circumstances, allows you to communicate on a certain level. If you saw her, and she spoke to you…well the good news is she is at least alive. But to send a message such as that…It can only be done in the most strenuous circumstances." I let that sink in.
"So…What does that mean?" I asked, unsure if I wanted to hear the answer.
"It means we need to get to her as fast as we possibly can."
My mind was fuzzy. I distinctly remembered Morgorath sinking his teeth into my neck, but after a few minutes, I no longer knew what was happening. I wasn't even sure if I was in the same place or not. Suddenly, I felt something cold wash over me and I was jolted back into awareness. Through my blurry vision, I saw Morgorath staring down at me. He was saying something, because I could see his mouth moving, but I couldn't hear them. I gave up and my head lolled to my chest. Then I felt a hand pull it back up and I was staring right into the black abyss of Morgoraths eyes. Anger flared in them but I couldn't bring myself to care. He said something else, but again, it was lost to the muffled world. He huffed in anger and dropped my head. I was able to keep it up just long enough to see him storm out of the door and motion to the guards. I faintly was aware of them unshackling me, but I didn't have enough power to fight them. So I simply let them drag me out and back to the cell where they threw me onto the ground. I had enough sense to break my fall but not enough energy to get up after the fact. I rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling. I felt my eyes become heavy, and I was lost to the world once more.
