Previously in "Out of the Darkness", Klaus turns Cassandra into a vampire and Daniel into a hybrid, and later, Cassandra makes her first successful kill.
Chapter Thirty-Eight: You'll Always Be Mine
Warren watched as Sarah slept in his arms. She looked at peace, which was a good thing, especially after all the centuries she spent alone. He hated that she had to endure that, but thankfully, she wouldn't have to go through that again. "You're staring. It's kind of creepy," he heard her say in a soft murmur and he glanced down to see her eyes had opened while he was watching her.
He chuckled then swept her brown hair out of her face. "I'm sorry if you felt I was so 'creepy' by watching you," he said before shifting to brush his lips over hers.
Sarah smiled against his lips as she returned his kiss. "It's all right; I still love you, my handsome sire."
"And I love you. So, since you knew I was watching you sleep, what would you like to do for the day? It's your choice," he said, gently rubbing his nose against hers while barely brushing their lips together.
Sarah smiled. "I really don't care what we do, as long as we're together."
"Hmm, I think a day in bed sounds good to me," he said, moving his head until he could nuzzle her neck with his lips.
"A day in bed, hmm?" she asked, arching her neck into his lips' touch. "That sounds good for me too."
It was quiet for a while until Warren said, "Sarah, there's something very important I want to ask you."
"There is? What is it, Warren?"
Easing himself out of her embrace, he went to where his clothes were piled on the floor, reaching into the pocket of his jeans, and took out the jewelry box, going back to the bed, sitting down next to Sarah, taking her hand in his. "Sarah, I have loved you since the day I turned and sired you. You were the reason I fought against the animals who tortured me, and the reason I survived. That is why I've come before you as a man, nothing more and nothing less, to ask you this important question." He opened the box, revealing the ring he had shown Elijah earlier. "Sarah Spencer, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife and spending eternity with me?"
"Yes. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes, I would be happy to be your wife and spend eternity with you," she said with a tear-filled smile. Launching herself forward, she gently threw her arms around his neck, framing his face in her hands and kissed him passionately.
Warren returned each of Sarah's kisses, pulling away to place the ring on her finger and then kissing her. "I love you, Sarah, and I promise that you'll never be alone again."
"I can't wait to marry you," she said in return, smiling against his lips as they continued to kiss, brief kisses to somewhat seal the deal further.
"I can't wait either," Warren said. "I've waited a long time for this and I intend to enjoy every moment."
"Can we tell Amelia and Elijah in person? I want to ask her something as well," Sarah said.
"Of course we can, darling," Warren said. "You know that I wouldn't deny my future wife anything."
"Future wife," Sarah said with a grin. "I love the sound of that already."
"As do I," Warren said. "I've dreamed of being with you like this for centuries and I feel like my dreams have come true."
"Mine too," she said with a smile as she went to start getting ready. Warren got out of bed and got dressed, looking forward to seeing Elijah again and telling him he was successful in proposing to Sarah.
A Little Bit Later – Elijah and Amelia's Mansion…
Sarah held Warren's hand as they walked up to the front porch of her sister's future husband's home. "I'm so nervous," she said softly to her new husband-to-be.
Warren kissed her softly. "Don't be nervous, darling. I'm right here with you."
"It's good that you are, because this is my younger sister that we're talking about," she said.
Warren knocked on the door and it wasn't long until Elijah opened the door, Evelyn sleeping peacefully in his arms. "Warren, Sarah, what brings you here?"
Warren lifted Sarah's hand for his cousin to see. "I did it, Elijah. I asked Sarah to marry me and she accepted."
"Oh! Congratulations then, Warren and Sarah," Elijah said as he hugged them both as gently as he could while still holding Evelyn in the crook of one arm.
Warren smiled. "Sarah also wants to speak with Amelia. Is she here by any chance?"
"She is," his cousin replied. "Come on in." The couple nodded and followed Elijah into the mansion.
Elijah headed upstairs and found Amelia just dressing in her clothes for the day, and was about to tell his bride-to-be who was here when she smiled at him then said, "Call it sisterly intuition, but I kind of figured she was already here."
He smirked then kissed her softly. "I'll get Evelyn ready for the day and take Warren with me to see Finnegan so Warren can tell him the news about the engagement. I'll even send Sage back over Evelyn if it pleases you," he said.
Amelia nodded. "That sounds like a plan to me."
"Okay. I'll see you later, my love," he said, kissing her one more time before taking Evelyn out of the room and down the hall to the nursery so that he could pick out an outfit for her to wear.
Amelia finished dressing and came downstairs to see her sister and Warren. "Well, if it isn't the happy couple."
Sarah beamed then hugged her younger sister once she was close enough. "Thanks, Amelia. I can't be happier than I am right now," she told Amelia.
Amelia returned her sister's hug. "I'm happy for you as well, sister."
"That's good, Amelia, because I can't think of anyone better that I'd like to ask to be my maid of honor," Sarah told her after pulling back from the hug.
"I'd be honored to be your maid of honor, Sarah," Amelia said. "What are sisters for?"
"Hmm, you're right. Sisters complete everything. We should also ask Hayley if she's willing to be a part of the wedding," Sarah said.
Amelia nodded. "Good idea. She's our adopted sister after all, and we should include her."
"I'll give her a call, and we can have a girls' day of it?" Sarah suggested. Amelia nodded.
"Sage will be bringing Evelyn back when she comes over, so that will be fun," she replied.
Sarah smiled. "That sounds great! I want to see my little Stella-Luna! That is, if Logan is willing to part with her."
Amelia giggled. "Oh, he might for one day," she said.
Sarah smiled. "That's good, because I haven't seen that precious little girl since she was born. I know that we have Evelyn as our niece, but since we adopted Hayley as our sister, Stella-Luna is our niece too."
"Yes! I'd love to see her too," Amelia replied.
At Hayley and Logan's Cabin…
Hayley held Stella-Luna in one arm while using her ear and shoulder to hold her phone so that she could make a bottle of milk for her newborn daughter with the other hand. "I can do that, if Evelyn is going to be there as well," she replied to the suggestion Sarah had made. "And Sage too, yes…"
"Evelyn and Sage will be there," Amelia said. "We want Evelyn and Stella-Luna to bond as cousins."
"I'm not exactly refusing, Mel, but can I call you back? I'm trying to make a bottle for Stella-Luna and it's not working if I have my hands full with her, the bottle and I'm on the phone," Hayley told her.
The Mikaelson Mansion…
Amelia laughed. "Of course you can call me back, Hayley. I'll be waiting for your call," she said before ending their current one. Amelia looked at Sarah after she hung up. "She's going to call back."
"Okay, awesome," Sarah said.
Back at Hayley & Logan's…
"Logan, are you almost ready? I have to get going soon, Amelia and Sarah invited me over for a girls' day," Hayley called upstairs to her husband-to-be.
Logan came downstairs, a smile on his face. "It's great that Amelia and Sarah are doing this for you, Hayley. I may not know them very well, but they seem to be good friends for you, as well as good sisters."
Hayley smiled back. "Yeah, they're amazing. I'm glad I met them when I did."
"Do you think they'll agree to watching Stella-Luna for the night so that you and I can have some alone time together?" he asked.
"I don't see why not, but I'll ask," Hayley replied.
Logan grinned and replied, "Good, because we haven't had a moment alone together in a while."
"You're right about that," Hayley said with a smile as she sat down in a chair nearby to feed Stella-Luna her bottle. Logan watched as Hayley fed their daughter and smiled again. He loved seeing them bond like this, since Hayley was a good mother and knew exactly what Stella-Luna needed, having learned from watching Amelia with Evelyn.
Later…
Hayley waved goodbye to her future husband as Stella-Luna lay cradled in the sling that covered most of her upper body. When they arrived at Elijah and Amelia's mansion, Amelia was waiting for them, a big smile on her face. "Hello, Hayley."
Hayley returned her smile and replied, "Hey, Mel." Amelia then escorted them inside. Before she could say anything, Hayley cut her off, saying, "Logan and I were wondering if you could watch Stella-Luna for us. We haven't had a night to ourselves in a while."
"Oh, we'd be delighted to," Amelia said. "We all love her and we wouldn't mind watching her for you."
"Thank you. That means a lot. Now, where is that darling Evelyn at?" Hayley asked with a smile.
Amelia smiled. "Sage just brought her back a few minutes ago. I think she'd love to see her Auntie Hayley."
"And I'd love to see her."
Amelia nodded. "Come on, let's go see her."
Hayley nodded as well and followed the witch to the living room, where Sage was sitting on the sofa, making faces at Evelyn and listening to her little giggles. The redhead glanced up when she saw Hayley standing in the doorway with Amelia and gave the werewolf a smile. "Hello, Hayley; how are you?" she greeted her.
Hayley smiled. "I'm doing okay. I'm adjusting to mommy-hood."
"That's good. You'll get even more adjusted to it soon," Sage told her with another smile.
Hayley nodded. "It also helps that Logan is so supportive."
"Oh yes, men are always supportive in these kinds of situations. Wasn't it you, Sage, that had introduced Finn to your children when they were young, but gained his support when you later introduced them when they were older?" Sarah asked as she came into the room with plates of food.
Sage nodded. "Yes, I did. And Finn has been very supportive of me."
Sarah nodded as well, but before she could think of starting an argument, Amelia gave her a stern look. Hayley then sat down next to Sage on the couch, cradling Stella-Luna and smiling at Evelyn as she said, "Hey there, Miss Lyn. Remember me? I'm your Auntie Hayley. I brought Stella-Luna with me." Evelyn turned her head toward Hayley when she heard her voice and the werewolf smiled, letting one hand reach out and gently caress over Evelyn's tiny hand. The newborn witch turned her hand over and let it fist around one of Hayley's fingers. Hayley laughed as she felt Evelyn's tiny hand grasp onto her finger. "That's right, I'm Auntie Hayley."
In the sling, Stella-Luna began to stir and Hayley smiled down at her daughter before looking at one of the other females to help her. Amelia stepped over first and gently released the belt-like top from around Hayley's shoulder. Once Stella-Luna was taken out of the sling, Amelia placed her in the crook of Hayley's free arm, allowing Evelyn to see her cousin.
Evelyn looked up at her mother then, and Amelia gave her a stern look when Evelyn used telepathy to say, "Mum…"
Amelia heard what her daughter was saying. She then said telepathically back, "Yes, sweetheart?"
"Who is the baby?" Evelyn said in response.
"That's your cousin, sweetheart. You remember Stella-Luna?" Amelia said.
Evelyn looked at Stella-Luna and then back at her mother. "I do. It's just been a while since I've seen her."
Sarah, Sage and Hayley all gave Amelia and Evelyn strange looks so Amelia finally stopped with the telepathy. "Sorry, she decided to try and use mind speak," she explained to the two female vampires and the werewolf.
Hayley nodded. "Is that something only witches can use or can any supernatural being use it freely?"
"No, vampires and werewolves can use it too," Amelia said. "I'm surprised that Evelyn learned it so quickly. Then again, I learned mind speak quickly at her age as well."
"Mother was not happy the first time she used it at the dinner table," Sarah said.
Amelia shook her head. "No, she was not. In fact, she didn't know where I had learned it."
"What was it that you said to her, anyway?" Sarah asked.
Amelia laughed. "I don't really remember, but I think I said something about her cooking being atrocious. That really set her off. And it gave you a laugh as well."
"Yeah, it did. But, back to today," Sarah said.
Sage nodded. "Yeah, but it was an interesting story, though."
"It was, but first…let's eat," Hayley said, gesturing to the plates Sarah had brought from the kitchen.
Amelia heard her stomach grumble at Hayley's suggestion. "Right…I don't know about you ladies, but I'm hungry."
The other three women smiled and Sarah removed the covering of the plates. Hayley licked her lips at the food on the plates in front of her and didn't know what to go for first. Finally, the werewolf picked out some soft food, which consisted of apples, grapes and cheese bites.
Hayley bit into the cheese and enjoyed the taste of it. She smiled down at Stella-Luna when she heard her daughter gurgling and said, "You remind me so much of your daddy."
Sage heard her and smiled as she took some cheese. "She definitely looks like Logan. But, she's going to look more like you when she gets older. Just like Evelyn is going to look more Amelia when she gets older…"
"Well, actually…" Amelia said, hanging her head. "We, um, we had a visit from her recently, and although we weren't going to tell anyone, she takes more after Elijah, with his dark hair."
Hayley looked up at them. "But, how is that possible? She's right here."
Sarah answered the question for Amelia. "She means her future self, Hayley."
"Future…" Hayley said, still in shock by what they were talking about.
"If you want, I can contact her, and have her come with Stella-Luna from the future?" Amelia asked.
Hayley thought about it for a moment and then looked at the baby in her arms. "Are you sure that you could do that?"
"Of course I can," Amelia said. "Magic has many benefits."
"Aren't you afraid of the consequences, especially if it has to draw from dark magic?" Hayley asked.
"Hayley, love, I'm from a century where dark magic was hardly something one could dwindle with," Amelia replied.
Hayley nodded, remembering just how much older Amelia was than her. "Right…"
"Don't worry, Hayley; my sister knows what she's doing," Sarah said to reassure the werewolf.
Hayley nodded. "Well, if you trust her, Sarah, then I do too."
Amelia nodded then went and began to set up candles in the big, open area, sitting down on one end of the room before she began to chant in the Gaelic wiccan language she had been taught. Hayley listened to her chanting, biting her lip in anticipation. She didn't know what Stella-Luna would look like grown up, but at the same time, she was curious.
Once she was done chanting, a bright light appeared on the opposite side of the room, forming in the wall in a liquid-like circle. Then out stepped a girl with dark hair, which smiled at Amelia, and beside her was another girl with dark brown hair. "Mother, it's wonderful to see you," Future Evelyn said as she waved her hand and the portal disappeared.
Amelia smiled at Future Evelyn. "Hello, Evelyn. I hope I wasn't interrupting anything important that you may have been doing."
"You weren't," she replied. "Actually, I could use a break. So, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"I was hoping if you knew how to contact Stella-Luna," Amelia said.
"Oh. Well, if it makes you feel any better, Mum, this is her," Evelyn said, gesturing to the girl next to her.
Future Stella-Luna smiled at the younger version of her adopted cousin's mother. "Hello." Then she turned and gasped in surprise upon seeing her mother, who was crying quietly. "Mom…"
Hayley opened her arms to her now-teenage futuristic daughter and Stella-Luna fell into them. Hayley smiled through her tears. "I can't believe I'm actually holding the grownup version of my baby."
"Believe it, Mom," Stella-Luna said, pulling back from the hug.
Hayley nodded. "You look so beautiful. You remind me of myself before I met your father."
Stella-Luna smiled. "I do take after you when it comes to looks, but I'm just like Daddy personality-wise," she said.
Sage smiled. "I'm sure Logan will be glad to hear that."
The hybrid teenager smirked. "Oh, of course…I'm daddy's princess," she told the redhead.
Sage returned her smile. "Oh, yes of course; every girl is her daddy's princess."
"Mom, is that Auntie Sage?" Stella-Luna asked.
Evelyn turned and looked at the hybrid. "Don't," she said between gritted teeth.
Stella-Luna nodded. "Right, paradox, got it."
Hayley glanced between them. "Is there something that we should know?" she asked.
"People from the future aren't supposed to reveal too much information to the people of the past," Evelyn said. "It creates a paradox."
