A/N: I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm graduating in December so I'm hoping over the holidays to not only crack the rest of this story out but also do the alternate ending that will go with the newest film (once I FINALLY see it, because you'd think being in film school would let me actually be able to watch movies when they come out.) But until I graduate, I'm going to try to keep writing so that I don't get too out of the loop with my own story. I'm sorry that this chapter isn't too much, but I felt bad making y'all wait so long. Enjoy!

"Eve. I don't like this." Leonard said from the bed as she was dressing in her CCS uniform.

"I know. I don't either." She put her hair into a ponytail before looking over at him with a worried smile, "But, Jay will be with me, so will two guards, and no matter what happens, I'm not going into the room with him."

She moved over and sat on the edge of the bed and placed a hand on his chest. He took her hand into his and squeezed, "They tried to kill you."

"I know." She laid her head down on the crook of his neck, "Trust me I know."

He sighed and wrapped his arms around her, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel bad."

"It's not you. It's just-" She stopped herself and instead pushed her head further into his chest.

"Just what?" Leonard asked but it was quickly followed with a buzz at the door.

"Nothing. That'll be Jay." She sat up and smiled at him before opening the door.

Jay walked in and leaned on the room divider smiling at his friend, "Bones, how ya feeling? Princess taking good care of you?"

Leonard scoffed at him with a smile, "Yeah and you're taking her away."

"We need to make this ship safe again, trust me I dislike this as much as you do."

"I doubt it."

Eve got the PADD from the nightstand and handed it to Leonard, "You can watch from here. Don't get up unless it's to go to the bathroom and I should be back before lunch."

Jim smiled watching as Eve leaned over and gave her husband a kiss. Leonard held her there for a moment and whispered, "I love you."

"I love you too." She whispered back with a smile before walking back over to Jim, "Ready?"

"I honestly don't know."

"Only one way to find out. Let's do this."

They walked down the hallway towards the holding cells, as they came into view Eve swallowed hard as Moltek came into view. He was just standing at the door staring out at them, watching as they approached, not even blinking.

"That's not creepy." Jim whispered to her.

"Right." She whispered back.

When they got to the door Moltek looked at Jim and then Eve and cocked his head to the side, almost robotically. As he spoke it was his voice, but different, there was a slight buzz with it, "We only wished to speak to her."

"She won't speak with you alone." Eve crossed her arms, "And she wants to know why you wanted to speak to her."

"Because you are important to this ship."

"So is the captain."

Moltek smiled, "But you were important to Starfleet, they did not want you to leave."

"What does that have to do with you or Eve?" Jim questioned.

Molteks head darted to look at him, "Because if she was endanger then they would call you back, keep you out of our space."

"Your space?" Eve got his attention, "And how did you know Starfleet didn't want me to leave?"

"This body heard them talking about it and it gave us an idea on who to target. And yes, we do not want you in our space. We have been alone where we are for centuries and we enjoy it that way. We send out crystals that we can use to connect with those close to it to monitor civilizations so that we can make sure they stay away from us."

"Why are you telling us this?"

"Our attempts to dissuade you had failed so far and we decided this was the next best option. It is an option we have never tried before."

"Almost killing my husband was a way to dissuade me?" Eve said with anger.

"We were not aiming for him, we knew from your files that it would not kill you. We had only wanted to injure you enough to make the ship have to return to your planet."

"Wait so are you guys peaceful or not?" Jim asked.

"We are, unless you enter our part of space." Moltek looked over at him.

Jim looked from her to the prisoner, "Then, what is your part of space?"

"We cannot tell you. Then you will know and that is as bad as entering it."

"Will you at least stop threatening our ship and safety?" Eve sighed, "Clearly it's not stopping our mission."

"We cannot promise that either."

"Then this conversation is over." Eve said before turning around and walking away, Jim following close behind.

Jim caught up to her, "So that's it?"

"It's not like he was giving us anything." Eve shrugged her shoulders, "They won't tell us what space they want us to stay out of and they won't stop messing with our ship."

"So what do we do?"

She laughed, "You're the captain."

"Yeah but you're the brain."

She laughed again, "Maybe me you and the other brains should all talk about it."

"So you're room then? For dinner?"

"My room?" She said as they approached her door.

"Your husband is a brain too." Jim smiled at her, "Just don't tell him I said that."

"Of course not." She smiled opening the door and yelling as she walked in, "Len, Jay said that your smart and didn't want me to tell you!"

"Damn it!" Jim yelled as the door shut.

Leonard smiled at her, "Why did he say I was smart?"

"Because we need to get all the brains together to figure out what to do and you're one of them."

"Really?"

She laughed and play shoved him as she laid down next to him, "Yes, but I honestly think he just wants your input more than anything."

"You wanna fill me in?" He said turning to where he was on his side facing her, and she told him what all had been said. He put an arm on her shoulder to comfort her, "I'm proud of you for keeping your cool."

"Thanks." She smiled at him.

Leonard leaned down and kissed her and she kissed him back for a brief moment. When she pulled away she placed a hand on his cheek, "You should get some rest, we'll be having guest for dinner tonight."

"Only if you stay with me." He put an arm around her.

"You get comfortable." She said, not wanting him to be compromising his stitches.

Leonard shifted to where he was back on his back and she placed her head on his shoulder. He smiled as she cozied up to him placing her hand on his chest, drawing small circles on his chest, something she had done since the first night they were together, something that always made him feel better. Slowly he fell asleep.

When he woke up he was alone on the bed. He noticed three chairs had been brought in the room, he looked around and listened for her in the front room and didn't hear anything, "Eve?"

Nothing. He sighed and began trying to stand so that he could go to the bathroom. As much as he hated to admit it, he was right that he should have Eves help in order to get around. His abdomen was on fire as he stood and he leaned on the night stand clutching his wound as he made his way through the room. He stopped to lean on the door jamb to the bathroom to catch his breath. Leonard laughed at himself for a moment, thinking of all the injuries Eve had had and pushed through, hell even fought through, if she could do that he could do this.

Eve carried one more chair into the room and as she did she heard a thud in the bathroom. She quickly put the chair down and jumped over another before rushing to the door and opening it. There she saw Leonard on the ground, a grimace of pain on his face. She went to his side, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I think so." He replied checking his bandage, "I lost balance when I went to pull my pants up."

She gave him a smile before giving him a kiss, "Don't ever scare me like that again."

"You're one to talk." He gave her a smile back as he took her hand and she helped him up back to the bed.

"The others will be here soon." She said giving him a new shirt and a pair of sweatpants.

"I need to take a shower tonight." He looked at her as he changed his shirt, "I might need some help with that."

"I'll be sure to find my bathing suit." She smiled as he gave her an unamused look, "What? I wouldn't want anything inappropriate to happen."

"Oh, you're going to get it once I'm back to normal."

"Can't wait." She smirked as the doorbell went off.

She opened the door and Jim, Spock, Nyota, and Carol were at the door with food. They all came in and took their seats, both Eve and Leonard on the bed, and began eating and talking about the problem at hand.

"Can't we just break the rocks?" Leonard asked.

"I was wondering about that too." Jim looked from Eve to Spock to Carol.

"I had thought about that but then after running some tests I came to find out that if we were to destroy the gems there would be a residual signal emission that would slowly affect everyone on the ship."

Eve shrugged her shoulders, "What about if we were to blow them out of an airlock?"

"It could kill the man in the coma." Leonard answered.

"Or it could wake him up." Spock rebutted and Leonard somewhat agreed.

"That's possible. According to the scans Dr. Lamb sent me we can see what is causing his coma, and were assuming it's what the rocks signal is doing to his brain because there is no damage from the throw against his brain, and if that signal were to be further from his brain than it already is then the loss of stimuli from it could either make it go back to normal, or could damage it even more, thus killing him."

"Would it affect the other two the same way if we were to space the rocks?" Jim asked.

"Doubtful, they are not under the same effects. They were not knocked unconscious while under the direct influence of the gems." Spock answered.

"So we can't destroy them on board. And we could space them at the risk of injuring the men who are connected to them." Eve said.

"We could try and communicate with them more." Nyota spoke up, "We could try to get them to tell us how to dispose of the gems without harming anyone in the crew, or just give us a vague area of space not to enter. They said they didn't want to hurt us."

"I don't want them talking to Eve again." Leonard spoke up.

"Me either. She's been their main target this whole time." Jim said.

"We may have no choice if they will not speak to us without her there." Spock said.

"Then in that case I will speak to them, but until I agree with Len and Jay. We can't give them what they want every single time, I'm the last resort." Eve gave them an uneasy smile.

"Alright, then until that happens the two of you are still confined to quarters," Jim said to Eve and Leonard, "And the rest of us are only to walk the halls with one security escort and only when absolutely necessary."

Everyone agreed and they all said goodbye and left the room.

Leonard looked at her, "You agreed with us about not talking to them?"

"Yes because I don't want to talk to them." She said before looking at him with a smirk, "And you looked at the scans when I told you that you needed to rest."

He just gave her a smile and she rolled her eyes at him, "And you say I'm hard headed."

"Because you are." He pulled her in for a kiss.

"No sir!" She smiled after the kiss, "Not tonight, you fell earlier and you hadn't fallen until after you seduced me last night."

He couldn't stop himself from laughing at her, "Okay, it's just that it's been two and a half years since I've had you all to myself for an extended period of time and…well with the two and a half years it's been I want to get in every minute that I can."
