I've been a little addicted to the chicken fries at Burger King.

And the slushes at Sonic.

He didn't know what upset him more: The fact that she liked him and hadn't told him or the fact that she liked him and was trying to convince herself she didn't.

Sasuke was slouched in his seat, hardly paying attention to what was on the screen. The usual group had gathered at the movie theater—and how delighted and overwhelmed the staff became because of the money the group poured into snacks alone—and it was Choji's turn to pick what they would watch. Usually, he picked an action-comedy, but some confusion of dark fantasy was flashing before the Uchiha's eyes, and he suspected this was based off a book of the same name.

Hinata was next to Sasuke, and this wasn't anything to fuss over. He wouldn't say they were inseparable since they became real friends, but they were…on the same page. They ended up doing similar things at similar times, and their lives sort of aligned without them trying. Friendship like this was refreshing to experience, but…then she started acting weird—like he made her uncomfortable.

Or maybe she was acting more like the alignment of their lives was somehow inappropriate.

If their eyes met, neither used to think anything of it, but now her eyes couldn't dart away fast enough. If they touched in any way,it was never a big deal, but now she'd jerk back and eventually find a reason to leave his presence. If there was an empty seat next to him, she used to take it, but now she lingered to see if anyone would get to it before she did and only sit next to him if it was the only one left.

Like. She did. Tonight.

He knew the signs of someone crushing on him, so he was at least glad he didn't have to question if he had done something to cause this. Still, it was aggravating because he was invested in this friendship and would be very fucking pissed if she let it fall apart all because of emotions she was bottling up, but…

Why did she like him?

He had grown very tired of people befriending him for ulterior motives a long time ago. He knew Hinata's crush on him had been a very recent development, but he couldn't push away the irritation with what the past has caused him to feel. When he noticed the change in Hinata, he was prepared to deal with it in some way so their friendship could be saved, but she never confronted him. He didn't know why that bugged him as much as it did—perhaps because her crush was so transparent.

But Hinata acted as though it was such a horrible thing that she had feelings for him, and that really bugged him.

It hurt, angered, and confused him because she actually knew him before her crush started. Was she ashamed she liked someone like him? Was he so horrible as a person that liking him was too far for someone like her?

Again, he was prepared to talk her through this issue, but now he was somewhere between desperately wanting to fix this and wanting to drop her all together.

Sasuke glanced at her.

She was sitting up perfectly straight, hands stiffly balled in her lap. Her eyes were fixed on the large screen, almost too wide, and her lips were set awkwardly. He frowned, his chest constricted, and he rolled his eyes away. He tried to focus on the movie, but he had little idea about what was happening. When he glanced at her again, she had just looked away from him. He had little time to think about what it meant before she got up and quickly began to leave. He rolled his eyes again, sighing to himself, and found his body moving after her, his irritation driving him.

"Hinata," he hissed a fraction after the theater door closed behind him, practically on her heels.

She spun around, white eyes filling with horror and cheeks gaining much color. "Wh-wh- Yes?" She took a few steps towards the restrooms, scanning the empty hall. "Yes…Sasuke?"

He shook his head, trying to gather the most appropriate words. "Can you just…tell me what's bothering you?"

More horror filled her expression. "What?"

He ran a hand through his hair. "You… You like me, right?"

Her color drained rapidly, and she darted into the restrooms before he could get another word out. He ran after her, stopping short of the entrance, and he couldn't believe she actually ran from him. Was this her choice? To avoid him over something as stupid as this?

Sasuke had almost had it with all the drama, but then it started to hurt too much. This wasn't worth it… This wasn't worth losing a friend over…and she had to understand that, too.

"Hinata," he called, and he didn't know how he sounded to her. "What's gonna help?"

There was silence.

"Ignoring this won't."

More silence.

"It's… It's fine, okay?" He huffed, feeling stuck. "If I'm wrong and this is all about something else, then tell me, but we can't ignore it now if I'm right."

A sob echoed from the restrooms, followed by attempts to keep the rest in. Sasuke was more confused, alarmed, because he couldn't understand why she was feeling…so bad about all of this.

"It's hard," Hinata said. "It's really hard…to act normal. I can't… I can't k-keep it together, a-and I keep having thoughts about you, and…and it's not something I can ignore. I want to think of you as a friend, but…I can't anymore."

Sasuke didn't know what to do for the longest time. He didn't know what the right thing to do was. They were both hurting, and he didn't know why either of them cared so much. They went years without caring one way or the other, and now…it was unbearable to go back to how it used to be.

"Let's get it out of your system."

She laughed humorlessly. "You don't understand."

"Yes, I do. Let's… Let's just get it all out."
