Fairy Tail Next Generation

Chapter 37

"Hey my little dragon, were cha going?" Dad was baking metal muffins for breakfast again and noticed me before I had the chance to sneak out. Uggghhh, I should just stick with jumping out the window. Who cares if I break my nose again?

"On a job. Bye." I ran out the door before he could stop me. That man is too damn peppy in the morning. I swear, he would be the laughing stock of the guild if they saw how he acts at home. I kept running just in case he came after me, but I highly doubt he would though. I didn't do anything wrong so there would be no point to hunt me down. I slowed down as I reached the dreaded train station. God I hate that shit.

The job was for some little village off the beaten path. Apparently there was a troll terrorizing the villagers, they were paying 20,000 jewel a job I could finish in five minutes. People in this Bara Village must be stupid. They're known for their roses though. Must be a pretty place. Whatever, I gonna fucking die on this train.

Once I had finally gotten to Bara Village and had a look around, I hunted the troll down. Trolls in these parts are size-shifters which means its probably sleeping in some ally trashcan. Looks are freaking deceiving man, and trolls are great examples. Mountain Trolls are the only ones that don't change their appearance. Oh looky. There was a recycling bin shaking slightly in one of the four allies in this village. Shouldn't a village have more allies? Whatever. I kicked the bin over and watched as a hairy-cat sized thing rolled out. It shook off the plastic stuck to its foot before looking up at me. It grumbled out something that I couldn't understand, most likely because of his current size.

"You the troll bothering these people?"

It grumbled a few more times while stomping its foot.

"I asked you a question little shit." I poked the troll with my foot hard enough to knock it over. It wobbled around on its back for a moment while trying to get up. Seriously? Jeez. I kicked it back up and kneeled down. "Just scurry out of the village or I'm gonna have to hurt you. They want you dead but I'm too lazy to kill ya right now. Okay?" Steam began rolling out of its ears and nostrils before it puffed its cheeks out. Shit. I jumped back a few feet. A large puff of smoke appeared before slowly dissipating to reveal a large slimy monster. Now this is a troll. I couldn't help but laugh a little. The troll stepped closer to my face, close enough to eat me in one bite.

"Why don't you go scurry off to whatever hole you live in little bitch?" The troll's voice was deep and annoying. His breath smelled rank, Uggghhh I'm gonna smell like this for days. Did it really think it was alright to treat me like that after I was nice to it? Okay, then. I'll return the favor.

"Why don't you go scurry out of this town and leave the villagers alone?" The troll made a face like I just told him that his mother was ugly. Seriously? I already said this to you once before. He just stood there and stared at me. This is so stupid. "Come on dick breath, aren't you gonna answer me?" The troll growled and took a couple steps back. I had thought I had one this little spat when he swung his huge fist at me. The thing was bigger than my whole body and it hurt like fuck as my body was smashed between his fist and the wall. He pulled his fist away slightly and I took a deep breath. With my eyes barely opened, I noticed something strange. A . . . boy. He had shaggy brown hair and freckles. But his eyes, they were the greenest things I had ever seen. Suddenly he stomped on the ground and a boulder came out, then he threw it at the troll. Crap the troll I had almost forgotten about it! Oh god, he threw a boulder at the already pissed off troll. Wow this guy is a dumbass. The troll swung one of its long arms at him and it slammed him against the ground behind him. The troll turned the rest of his body around and raised his arms, ready for the kill. Shit. I sprinted over in record time and used my iron scales. Placing my arms in a cross and standing above the boy, I held off the attack. "Did you somehow believe that you could take on a fucking troll dumbass?" I could hear the change in his heart beat as he noticed me. He must have been surprised by the scales. I could also smell him now, he smelled like a fireplace. Like that warm burning wood smell. There was hints of fresh soil in there as well.

"Well you sure as hell looked like you needed some help!" He yelled at me, his voice was laid back sounding, even though he was yelling.

"I was perfectly fine dumbass, at least I'm not gonna get killed!" I was sort of pissed now, not just because the troll was pushing down harder now but also because he yelled at me. I threw my arms up and the troll stumbled back a little. I took the chance to punch it with an iron pole. The troll landed on its side, defeated after one hit. Trolls are all looks and no bite man. I stepped away from the boy and took a couple steps towards the troll. "Did you learn your lesson?"

"Yes . . . mam." He answered with pain in his voice as he change back to his tiny form and ran off and hopefully out of the town. I shoved my hands in my pockets as my scaled reverted back to normal skin. I was going to leave without saying anything, but I heard a small grunt from the boy and decided to say something. "Hope that goes for you too dumbass." I walked out of the ally without looking back. God, I hope I never see those green eyes again.

I wasn't really sure why I was remembering the first time I saw dumbass as we walked around the city. The place seemed desolate despite the sign saying a population 14,000. I continued to sniff around for that fireplace smell I had – as much as I don't want to admit – became too comfortable with. I was still pissed as hell at the person the smell was attached to, but we had to get him anyway. The shirtless Jase was running his hands through his hair so much I thought it might fall out. He had become really worried about Dumbass the further into town we walked. Stace and Tatsu were on the rooftops jumping from building to building searching for him from above. Emma just walked behind Jase and me trying to keep her mouth shut. The other three had nearly killed her by the fourth time she said something 'insensitive' about Felix. It's not her fault she says whatever's on her mind, it's their fault for thinking that I'm gonna commit suicide from hearing her do so. I think that they are all just fucking idiots today. They're all just one step from becoming blubbering assholes. The dumbass is gonna be fine. I'm not worried.

"I smell it." I turned towards the smell. It was faint but it was there. The fireplace – fresh soil smell that had been stuck in my nostrils for the past month. Jase and Emma looked up at me. I took off towards the smell before either of them could say anything to make fun of me. I heard Emma's whistle and then heard the loud landings from the other idiots. Within moment they were catching up with me. I just kept running as the smell became stronger. I took a couple sharp turns before the smell was overwhelming. That's not good. I stood before a building, the biggest one, and even from outside I could smell it as if he was right next to me. That means there's a chance they have been torturing him. The fireplace smell had a faint addition of metallic scent to it. Yeah, that means blood. "Fuck. Fuck. FUCKING SHIT. You little dumbass! I can't believe you got yourself kidnapped! Aren't you a fucking Fairy Tail Wizard? Shouldn't you be strong like the rest of us? FUCKKKKKKKK! FUCK! FUCK!"

I was so busy screaming that I hadn't noticed the giant wave about to crash down on me. Jase was suddenly standing before me holding the wave back with one of his own. Once the waves settled down, a man came out. He had on swim trunks and was holding a surf board. His hair was so sun tanned it was ridicules and his hair was so sun bleach that it was white. He looked stupid as fuck. He started laughing as he kept walking closer to us. "You have a rad vocabulary dude! And you have some awesome wave's dude! I pick you, let's fight man. Water on Water. Mono a Mono. Dude against dude!" Is he retarded?

"You have some nice waves too, sir. I would happily battle you – but could you answer a few of our questions first?" Jase smiled that smile of his while I rolled my eyes. Polite and kind, even to the enemy.

"Oh yeah, I'm supposed to tell you guys stuff. Thanks for reminding me dude. So like there is ten floors in this building. I'm on the first one, so like you have to try to defeat me. Second floor is just full of dudes ready to fight. They've got magic weapons but not magic themselves. After that is the Lovers, those guys are scary. You got to defeat them too. Then another two floors of men. On the sixth floor you have the crazy scary chick who's really hot. I would totally surf her waves if you get me. Then three more floors of men. Then the top floor is where that kid is. That's all I know about the top floor dudes. I'm just supposed to tell you about the first nine floors. So like basically you gotta defeat the nine floors if you want to see him again. Yeah, I think that's it – wait no! If Cali Redfox is here, I'm supposed to say that your friend is still alive. He just got a little beat up on the way upstairs. Oh so dudes if Cali Redfox isn't here you can't come in. She's the only one aloud in. Sorry Dudes." The surfer guy nodded his head before checking out his reflection in his surfboard. I guess they really meant it when they said that this is a game. Although I don't know why the hell they would want him to tell us all that information. But at least dumbass is alive, I mean it's not like he was gonna die but whatever. I'm not worried.

I looked back at the others before looking at Jase. We made eye contact for a moment before I took off for the doors. "Sir, are you ready for that battle I promised?"

"Umm, but I thought the chick who just ran inside was Cali Redfox. I gotta go defeat her dude, maybe after."

"I said, are you ready for that battle I promised?" Jase had that tone he gets right before he gets into a fight. Even if he was Mr. Nice guy, he wasn't very nice when it came to fighting. Emma, Tatsu, and Stace ran past the surfer as well and we headed for the stairs as the doors closed slowly. With Jase and the surfer inside.

If it's a game they want, then it's a game they will get.
