Kyouya smirks. For a moment there he was worried. Reborn looked so tame next to Fon – Kyouya wanted some of that fire back.
The teenager stands, satisfied despite the sharp pain lancing through his side. It may not have been the best method, but it was certainly efficient.
[Mini-game start! Objective: Happily Ever After]
Kyouya sighs in annoyance, looking at the dense forest that materialises around him.
His tonfas are gone and his clothes changed into some old-fashioned western garb with tight white pants, brown boots up to his knees, and a waist coat and jacket combo in black that's tight enough to restrict his breathing. There's even a bright white horse tethered to a tree off to the side.
Kyouya calls up a map but everything is greyed out. He tries the menu as well but the only writing there relates to the mini-game.
[Objective: Happily Ever After
Every Prince needs a Princess and you have several beauties to choose from. Rescue one from an evil witch or fall in love during a dangerous mission. Regardless of your choice, have that happily ever after that you deserve!
Princess(es): x 0
Ring(s): x 0]
He unties the horse then swings himself up. Kyouya has no idea how to ride a horse but most animals submit to him very quickly and this time is no exception. He heads in the direction of Reborn, or at least where the hitman would be in reality, but it's not that easy.
In fact, it takes almost an hour to encounter anyone.
Kyouya finds Fon, dressed in… a dress, along the road side. It's a very traditional Chinese outfit with a sword and belt attached. Kyouya isn't surprised that it's Fon, the man seems to have very good tracking skills.
Kyouya raises an eyebrow.
"I don't mind it," Fon admits, smoothing down the dress. "I also enjoyed the movie."
"The… movie?"
"Mulan," Fon explains as he swings up onto the horse behind Kyouya. "A Disney movie. There was a little red dragon with me but it ran off somewhere so the costume is now a bit vague."
"Let's just get this over with," Kyouya grumbles.
"Perhaps we should find rings first," Fon suggests. "The others won't be hard to find, just look for chaos."
"Where do I get a ring from?" Kyouya wonders.
"Head for a town," Fon recommends, smiling. Oh, they grow up so fast. Already looking for a wedding ring.
They come across a mansion after another two damned hours of this. Kyouya tells Fon to wait with the horse because the teen just wants to quickly go in, threaten the residents into giving him a ring, and then get out.
He instead finds Verde, cutting up a huge creature with fur and horns. There are smashed plates and broken furniture everywhere with a roaring fireplace melting the last horrified features of a candlestick.
Skull the mermaid is flopped over an armchair, his tail brushing the floor. Lal is studying a large hook made of something like bone with detailed carvings on it. Colonnello is snoring on another couch, dark green dress tangled in his legs and bow plus quiver of arrows abandoned on the floor.
Kyouya bets they found each other already because they didn't have to wander through those frankly ridiculous trees for three bloody hours.
Zombies were so much better than this.
"Little Mermaid, Moana, Brave," Skull lists off even though Kyouya hasn't seen any of these movies.
Lal does helpfully point Kyouya towards the nearest town, where Viper meets them at the gates.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Kyouya asks.
Viper shrugs. "No idea." They don't want to admit that a frog startled them so they killed it.
Fon points Viper back towards Verde and the Mist nods in thanks.
"You should leave while you still can," Viper warns and vanishes.
It actually spurs Kyouya on because hopefully something interesting happens.
A beautiful woman stands on the castle's main balcony, a massive crowd cheering her on below.
"Rejoice, my people, for your queen is the fairest in all the land!" she announces in a musical voice. "And, accordingly, my kingdom deserves to be the fairest as well."
Reborn's smile twists but the citizens can't see the dangerous grin from so far below. "I order the execution of all the ugly gutter trash in my streets."
The pompadour army, people now notice, have encircled the town square. Cutting off any escape.
"Pray to your new God, filth!" Reborn commands. "Pray that I have mercy on your disgusting souls!"
"Wait, wait," Tsuna says quickly, stepping out from the throne room attached to the balcony. "I thought you said 'fair', as in justice."
"Nope, I'm killing all the ugly people," Reborn explains calmly over the sounds of terrified screaming rising up from the masses. He then shoots a look at the 'hunter' who was supposed to kill him. "You're pretty lucky, you know, you're just barely scraping average. Any less and I'd have to throw you over this railing."
Tsuna purses his lips and decides to let this go, only because the kingdom's people are clearly not real, all of them faceless. They certainly panic like real people though. Tsuna winces at some particularly heart wrenching begging and backs away into the castle.
Eventually Reborn gets bored of watching the massacre and instead steps back into the throne room to find Tsuna explaining what happened to Fon and Kyouya.
"Bow, commoners," Reborn commands in amusement. "Your queen demands your piety." He swaggers up in his puffy dress and holds out a hand for the two newcomers to kiss in greeting.
Kyouya slips on a ring instead, an identical band of gold on his own finger, both of them stolen from two corpses he passed on the street.
There's a beat of silence and then Reborn smirks. "I'm a queen, not a princess."
"Well I'm not proposing to Fon," Kyouya argues.
Reborn glances to the side. "Dame-Tsuna, I now dub thee… princess."
"Can you do that?" Tsuna asks, sceptical.
"I'm a queen, I can do whatever I want." Reborn pulls off the ring and hands it back to Kyouya.
Tsuna looks like he regrets everything that led to this moment as he watches the ring slide onto his hand.
The surroundings abruptly warp because the mini-game ends.
.
A/N: Mulan because of the martial arts used. Lal knows how to get a job done no matter what and Moana was a badass facing off against the big island lady. Mermaid because Skull pretty much tripped his way into the Mafia and flailed around until senpai noticed him and he was then kicked into shape by the Arcobaleno.
Brave since Colonnello is all about family despite how annoying the Arcobaleno can be. Verde would love being able to study the phenomena that goes on in the beast's castle. Tiana is very practical and determined to get money. For her dream restaurant, yes, but she's still after money so I thought Viper would do well.
Reborn would make a great queen. Evil Queen, that is.
And yes, Kyouya did find his Snow White.
