In the distance a small, white Nissan Altima sat hidden in the trees. The woman in the car, the blonde woman from the storage units, dialed her phone frantically. Her whole body jittered with excitement, as an evil smile crept over her lips. "You will never guess what they found." She said loudly into the phone, looking into the distance. "This is good." She said shaking her head back and forth. "Yes, come, in fact send everyone." She cackled loudly, as she swiftly ended her phone call. Carefully, she watched through a pair of binoculars, keeping an eye on the three black shadows sitting in the Impala.
"Alright, let's go." Dean said confidently, looking over at Alayna. She nodded in agreement, scanning her eyes cautiously around the vast property.
"Looks clear." Alayna said with a slight nod. She quickly exited the Impala and slammed the door shut. She walked toward the house, feeling nervous. Dean and Crowley quickly stood beside her as they closed the distance between them and the house.
"Alright, we need to get in, find it, and then get out." Dean said with demand, as he clapped his hands together. He looked over at Crowley, who had begun sweating bullets again. Worry was starting to eat Crowley alive, as disturbing thoughts clouded his mind. Not only did he have to keep himself from getting killed, but he had to keep Alayna safe. He wanted Alayna to stay in the car, but he knew she would never go for that. She was too gung ho about participating in this adventure. Stubborn, stubborn girl.
"This is by far, the dumbest idea, you've ever had!" Crowley said slowly and quietly, as they entered the house. Alayna rolled her eyes and walked further into the living room of the home. She kept her eyes open and alert, taking every aspect of the room in.
"Come on, Crowley, stop being a baby." She said with a playful smirk, hitting him softly on the shoulder. He shot her a dirty look and grabbed her wrist protectively again.
"If we're going to be dumb, you're staying with me again." He said with demand and he pointed a finger at her. She chuckled softly and nodded her head. She thought it showed how much he truly cared for her, by the protection he was offering.
"Fine, fine." She said as she clasped her hand into his. She wasn't going to argue with him, this time. She could sense how dangerous Cain was and he kind of creeped her out. But not only that, he scared the crap out of Crowley. This in turn, scared the crap out of Alayna. They walked into the living room and Alayna's eyes danced around the bare room.
"Not much to this place." She said looking around the room. Crowley nodded in agreement as his eyes darted around the room. He cringed internally, thinking about Cain returning and seeing them there. All he could in vision was their deaths and he wanted to run away.
"Yes, see there's nothing. Now let's go." He said, as he started to get more nervous. He swung a hand, gesturing they leave through the front door. Dean rolled his eyes and sighed with frustration. Crowley was annoying the crap out of him, more than scaring him. He just wanted to find the blade and leave.
"Man up! Start looking around!" He said loudly with demand. Crowley sighed as he furrowed his eyebrows at Dean's response.
"Fine." He said shortly. Quickly, he started walking toward the back of the house, as he pulled Alayna by the arm. Crowley pulled her to a small bedroom in the back of the house. It was a pretty bare and boring room. Alayna looked around with her lip up. She was thinking about how odd it was, that after all these years; he only had a large bed and a dresser in there. Nothing else? Really?
"Look under there." He said with demand, as he pointed to the bed and Alayna nodded. She knelt down and peered under the large bed, which sat in the middle of the room. Her eyes looked back and forth hoping something would be there, but nothing was. It was just the hardwood floors caked in layers, upon layers of dust.
"Nothing under here." She said with a sigh and stood up straight. She quickly wiped her jeans off, as large amounts of dust flew into the air. Crowley was nervously digging through a small closet at the back of the room. He sighed as he shut the closet door and shook his head in disappointment.
"Nothing here either." Crowley said simply. He walked over to Alayna and stood by her. "I don't see much of anything, really." He said as she nodded her head. He took one more look around the room and shook his head.
"Come on." He said taking her hand again and they walked down the hallway.
"There's nothing back there, not even porn." He said looking around nervously again. Alayna chuckled softly at him. Dean turned around and frowned. He started walking quickly toward them, with a picture in his hand.
"Think I figured out why he went off the reservation so many years ago." Dean said holding the picture up. Alayna raised an eye brow and snatched the picture from Dean's hand. She slowly moved the picture closer to her face and examined the woman in the picture. The black and white picture boasted a young woman, smiling at the camera. She looked plain and simple; it must be how Cain liked things. Alayna quickly met Dean's gaze again.
"Who is she?" She asked looking confused. Dean huffed slightly, as he thought about the ring Cain was twirling.
"Cain had a similar ring on. I think the father of murder got hitched." He said throwing his arms up in the air. Alayna rolled her eyes, shifted her weight from side to side, and glared intensely at him.
"What's so wrong with that?" She asked with attitude, feeling slightly offended. Crowley nodded his head in agreement, as his eyes widened.
"Yes, what's so wrong with a demon getting married?" Crowley asked curiously, as he raised an eyebrow. Dean rolled his eyes, thinking about how ridiculous a married demon was and then it hit him. There was an odd pairing standing right in front of him, giving him awful looks too. He studied the sour faces staring back at him and he sighed.
"Did I just strike a nerve with you two?" Dean asked curiously, raising an eyebrow. Alayna's face went red with embarrassment, as she shook her head. She had never mentioned to Dean that she and Crowley were engaged. And she desperately wanted to keep it that way too. Dean narrowed his eyes at them. "Are you two?" He pointed a finger in between them and shook his head.
"You're friggin' married, aren't you?" he asked in disbelief, staring them down. Crowley shrugged his shoulders and looked back at Alayna. She rolled her eyes, realizing it was up to her to speak.
"Not yet, but soon. I mean, haven't you noticed this rock sitting on my finger?" She asked holding up her left hand. Dean peered down at the ring and sighed, while rolling his eyes.
"Good, great." Dean said with a shrug, "Now let's keep looking." He said as he turned around, leaving the picture in Alayna's hand. He didn't really care that they were engaged, he just wish he had a heads up.
Alayna jerked her head up, as she heard a clicking sound ring through the whole house. Her heart began to beat wildly out of her chest, because what she just heard was nothing normal. Something had just happened and she was about to freak out.
"What was that?" She asked loudly with panic. Crowley had anxiety written all over his face, as he yanked her toward the front door. Sweat began to pile on his brows and his heart began to race.
"Oh, no, no!" He yelled frantically, as he pulled wildly on the handle of the door. Dean ran over toward the door and realized what was going on.
"He's back, come on, back door." He said waving them on, as they all quickly made their way to the kitchen. They all immediately stopped in their tracks and stared down the intimidating figure standing in their way. Alayna gasped again, quickly bringing her hand to cover her mouth. Crowley's hand snaked slowly around her waist and he pulled her close.
There he was, staring them down, with that hateful scowl. She looked down toward her hands and realized she still had the picture. She smiled as sweetly as she could and looked up into Cain's intense eyes.
"I'm sorry, this is yours." Alayna said softly, licking her lips nervously. Cain looked down at the picture Alayna had handed him and his features softened slightly. A soft smile spread across his lips, as he gently took the photo out of her hands. He brought the picture up near his heart and gave a soft sigh.
Dean furrowed his eyebrows as headlights beamed through the windows and he gulped. He stared in disbelief, as he waved a hand. Crowley turned his head as he watched Dean standing by the window. Dean's mouth was agape in horror, as his breathes began to quicken in fear. He licked his lips quickly and regained his composure.
"I don't suppose they are with you." Dean asked trying to sound strong. His eyes darted trying to count the people standing outside the house.
"No." Cain said shortly as he stood motionless.
Alayna walked over to the window with Crowley and her heart sank. "There's so many of them." She whispered in a panic, as she began to count the people. Crowley looked over at her with worry, as her jaw fell open. He placed a sweet, loving kiss on her cheek and sighed.
"I'll protect you, Darling." He whispered softly, as his mouth hovered over her ear. She looked over at him, as their noses lightly touched, and a sweet smile enveloped her lips. Hoping she could trust the words that spilled from his lips, she gave a reluctant nod. Searching his eyes, she leaned in to give him a soft kiss.
"I know you will. Thank you." She whispered back lovingly. Dean started walking angrily toward Cain and finally stood in front of him.
"The whammy you put on the doors that keep us in. Will it keep them out?" He asked curiously as Cain nodded.
"For now." He simply stated and then the demons outside caught their attention again.
"We don't want any trouble, Cain," rang a loud womanly voice from outside of the house, "We've come for the Winchester, the so-called King, and that little bitch too. I'm sure she'll be the cherry on top, soul and all. Our new master can't wait to collect you, so why not collect early? That'll give me all kinds of brownie points! So come on out and play or we'll come in and get you!" She yelled loudly as Alayna gulped in fear. That's what they intended? They wanted to take her straight to Abaddon, so she could rip Alayna's soul out. Now Alayna was mentally freaking out, but she knew she had to be strong.
"Well that's just fantastic!" Alayna said sarcastically as she stood straight up. "I mean great, just great." She said with a sigh as she threw her arms in the air.
"Don't give up now." Dean said sternly as he patted her shoulder with reassurance. "We've got to fight." He said as she nodded.
"I'm not giving up." She said with a soft smile. "Let's kick some demon ass." She chuckled a little as she felt Crowley' grip get tighter on her hand.
"Here," Crowley said pushing a blade into her free hand, "Take this, I brought it for you." He said with a straight face. She looked down and smiled at the sight. He had just handed her, her very own angel blade.
"How romantic." She said with a playful wink. He gave a breathy laugh as a slight smile crossed his lips.
"Yes, well, I thought you might need it, Darling." He said as she gave a slight shrug. He had a point, she hadn't really thought about grabbing any weapons for herself before she got out of the Impala. Rookie mistake, so good thing she had someone looking out for her.
"Well thank you, I appreciate it." She said as the loud screeching of moving, heavy furniture, reverberated through the room. Turning her head quickly her eyes landed on Dean, who was feverishly pushing heavy furniture.
"What are you doing?" She asked Dean with an eyebrow up. A grunt escaped his lips, as he gave the piece of heavy furniture one last heave, and it finally rested in front of the door.
"I'm barricading the doors, getting ready for this fight." He said moving his eyes to everyone in the room and then finally stared down Cain.
"Well, good luck with that." Cain said with a slight shrug. No concern even crossed his mind, only anger that his home was being invaded.
"What?!" Dean yelled in disbelief as he crossed his arms across his chest.
"You exposed my home. You exposed me." He said angrily.
"Well boo-hoo!" Dean said with no sympathy and a scowl on his face.
"Brave, but impulsive. You truly have lived up to your reputation." He said as a proud smirk crossed his lips.
"I can't say you've lived up to yours." Dean said pointing a finger as Cain shrugged again.
"What can I say? I'm retired. If you survive, you're welcome to join me for the last meal I will eat in this house before I disappear again. It's the least I can do." He said as he turned around and walked into the kitchen. He slowly set his grocery bag onto the table and began taking items out.
Dean's mouth was slightly open in shock, as he exchanged a look with Crowley. He closed his eyes in disgust, while sighing and he pointed a finger at Crowley.
"You guys stay in here," He said pointing toward the ground, "I'll take the kitchen." He said pointing toward the kitchen. Crowley just gave him a simple nod, to acknowledge he understood. Dean quickly walked into the kitchen and began pushing the fridge in front of the back door.
Crowley shut the glass filled doors that separated the rooms and immediately walked over to Alayna. His breaths were quickened as he placed a hand into her. His eyes connected with her big blue eyes and he sighed. He saw the glint of worry and fear that radiated off of her and it made him cringe. Never in his life did he want to see her in this position. He was going to fight tooth and nail to protect her.
"You stay over there and if anything happens," He said pausing for a moment while pointing to the corner of the room, "Don't be afraid to use this." He said gently tugging on the angel blade, which still rested in her hand. She nodded slightly and looked into his eyes.
"I'll do my best." She said as a tiny smile crossed her lips. "Don't worry." She said trying to be reassuring. She quickly walked toward the corner of the room, as a loud noises came from the kitchen. Crashes, yells, and stomping feet crashed into Alayna's ears.
"What's going on?" She asked loudly with concern. Her eye brows were lifted, as new lines of sweat poured down her temples. She started to walk out of the corner she was banished to, but Crowley growled at her.
"Stay there, Love." He said pointing a finger at her. She rolled her eyes and hesitantly took a few steps backwards.
"Shouldn't we help him? It sounds like there are a lot of them in there!" She said frantically. Crowley huffed at her, ready to retort to her comment, but suddenly turned his attention to the front door. It quickly opened letting one young demon in and he eyed Crowley wickedly.
"Stay. There." He said slowly, raising a hand to point at her. He didn't even take his eyes off the threat standing in front of him, as he spoke to Alayna. She sighed, keeping her eyes on the demon in the room. The demon now stood in front of Crowley, with his lip up. Crowley cocked his head to the side and scoffed.
"Isn't it past your bedtime?" He asked sarcastically, getting ready to fight. Suddenly, Crowley was hit hard with a kick in the face and thrown to the ground.
Alayna jumped, as the young demon looked viciously over at her and slowly started stalking toward her. She got her angel blade ready, gripping it tightly with both hands. She was preparing for the worst and if she was going down, she was going down fighting. Her whole body jumped in surprise, as her eyes widened, and a slight gasp escaped her lips. Cain had suddenly appeared right in front of her and her breaths began to quicken. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder and looked her right into her eyes. The hate was gone, but the intense glare was still there, staring holes right through her. Her jaw fell open and she was at a loss for words, as he began to speak.
"I'm going to put you somewhere safe. It would be wise for you to stay put. I want to have a word with you later." He said simply as his grip on her shoulder got tighter. She nodded her head absentmindedly, as both hands still gripped her angel blade tightly, out of fear. Her eyes closed involuntarily, as she felt the air change around her. Her heart was beating out of her chest, breaths out of control, and sweat poured down her face rapidly. She opened her eyes again and her jaw fell open.
"Oh great." She whispered to herself, as she looked around the unfamiliar room. Silence fell around her and she began to feel worried.
