Ally

I hear a scream.

I look around to see who did it, but I can't see anyone.

It must have been inside my head.

Then, a voice. It's Austin's voice.

"No, Ally," it says. "Don't do it! I might not even be dead, for all you know! And Ally, if I'm not dead, I'm probably going to commit suicide if you do! You're my life, Ally, I can't live without you! You're my life! I love you! Don't leave unless I do, please!"

Then it slowly fades away.

I'm Austin's life? Then I wonder what happened when I was unconscious with hypothermia. He didn't tell me he loved me until afterwards...

I throw the knife back on the ground and pick Austin up, gently caressing his face, wiping all the blood off. I kiss his cheek, then rush into the car and buckle my seat belt again, and then put him on my lap.

"Hurry up," I snap at Mrs. Moon, a bit rudely. "We need to get Austin to the hospital."

Mrs. Moon quickly drives to the hospital about five blocks away. I carry Austin out the door and into the emergency room.

About twenty minutes later, Austin's hooked up to a heart monitor yet again. He's on the hospital bed, on the linen sheets that are now stained with blood.

"Do you think he'll be okay?" I ask the doctor.

"Depends what you mean by okay. He might have lost his memory because part of the car damaged his skull, but otherwise he'll be fine."

Uh, I wouldn't say you're fine if you've lost your memory. You're, like, the opposite of fine. Un-fine. Farinaceous. Unsatisfactory. Mealy.

Austin really doesn't look okay.

Two weeks pass, and we're still at the hospital with Austin. He hasn't woken up yet. Austin's in a coma, and the doctor says that he may never wake up.

Mrs. Moon and I have rooms at the hospital. They're both next to Austin's, so we can go check on him whenever we want. I go in there about every thirty minutes. I can't help it, it's like I'm obsessed. But he's my boyfriend, and the least I can do is check on him.

Then later that day, as I walk in, the world seems to change.

Austin's up and moving, all right. I'm so glad to see him, I jump into his arms for a hug.

"Austin!" I yell. "You're alright!"

I take his face in my hands and pull him in for a kiss, but he gets away from me.

"Who are you?" he demands. "And who's Austin?"

Suddenly, I remember what the doctor said about him losing his memory, and I realize what's happening.

The damage done to Austin's skull has given him amnesia, and he doesn't know who he is, much less me.

My eyes well up with tears and I pray that this is just a dream, that I will wake up and Trish will be going on and on about her job, Austin will be on my heels for a new song, and Dez will be walking around in clown shoes.

No matter how hard I wish, there's one fact that stays true: you can't escape reality.

And that's what this is. It's for real.

Author's Note: The next chapter is WAY longer, I promise. :) Like, 1,559 words, or something.

Anyways I CAN'T WAIT! I'M SO PUMPED! I can't stop my legs from moving, literally. I'm pounding them against the floor at the moment I'm so excited! Anyways bye for now!
