So this one is really long and the next chapter I think will be the final part of this long ass extended one shot. Hope you enjoy.
It had been several months since that day at the hotel and so much had changed since then. Mercedes didn't know how much could change for her and yet still be the same. As she sat in the lunch room eating her lunch, she looked over to where Tina and Kurt were grabbing their lunch. They both were in very stable and open relationships but still found it in their hearts to eat lunch with Mercedes, even though she knew deep down she knew they wanted to be with their boyfriends. To be honest, she didn't blame them. As she scanned the lunchroom, about 80% of the students at McKinley were in relationships and seated with their boos. And if she could, she would be just like them. She smiled at Kurt and Tina as they made their way in her direction then stopped when they noticed Quinn slide into the seat they planned to occupy.
So, I know you know about..." she paused as she looked around then gestured to where a small baby bump was beginning to peek through her sweater. It was only noticeable because Mercedes knew about it, otherwise, Quinn just looked like she had a hefty lunch. "And you know I know about you know..." she paused as she looked over to where Sam sat with Marcus and Santana. Mercedes sighed as she watched Tina and Kurt turn to walk over to their boyfriends instead then looked over at Mercedes quizzically.
"What are you talking about?" Mercedes asked as she dipped her french fries in her ketchup.
"Come off it, Mercedes. Sam told me." Quinn stated in a whisper before leaning back. "To be quite honest, I am relieved that he told somebody because I was getting a bit tired of talking to Sam about it. As a man, he just never got it." She rambled as Mercedes locked eyes with Sam. He faintly smiled her way then moved his focus when Marcus followed his sight. As she stated, so much had changed, yet so much was still the same.
Mercedes remembered leaning against her brother's bedroom door trying to hear the conversation Sam was having with Marcus. They'd been in there talking for what felt like an hour and Sam still hadn't really said what he needed to say. Mercedes remembered wanting to barge in and just lay it all on the line but she promised Sam that she would allow him to say it. Once he finally let it out, there was silence in the room. Mercedes wished she could be a fly on the wall, just to see his face and see how Marcus was reacting. Seconds later, she heard the sound of Marcus asking Sam, if anyone else knew. Sam immediately replied that only Quinn and her father knew, then moments later she felt the door knob from his room jiggle. Mercedes quickly jumped and pretended to be on her cellphone heading to her room.
"What's going on?" she asked as she looked between the concerned look on her brother's face to the somber look on Sam's face. Marcus looked back at Sam then over at Mercedes and shook his head.
"None of your business, go to your room." he replied. Normally, she would reply back with major sass but she knew today was not the day as she rolled her eyes instead. "Where's Mom and Dad?" he asked as he began walking towards the living room.
"In Dad's study." Mercedes responded as she watched Marcus disappear down the hall. She quickly turned her attention to Sam as he made his way towards her. "Don't worry, he usually gets whatever he wants." she stated before wrapping her arms around his neck. He sighed as he held her and shook his head.
"I'm still nervous." he added then kissed her tenderly before placing his forehead on hers. "If I have to leave, I don't know what I will do without you." With their eyes closed, Mercedes remembered inching up to kiss him again but not being able to when they heard Marcus heading their way.
"Let's hope we never have to find out." she stated to no one in particular as Sam jogged over to where Marcus was shouting his name. She slowly made her way to the living room and leaned on the door to her dad's study to listen in on the conversation.
"Sam, why in the world did you think you could pull off keeping a job, and football practice as well as your school grades while living at that motel?" she heard her mother asked. "That place is not a place for a teenager."
"Why didn't you come to us?" she heard her father ask.
"He thought he was superman, Dad." Marcus replied with a chuckle that she could only think he thought was necessary to make the situation less awkward. "If I had known, I swear I would have said something to him."
"I didn't tell anyone." Sam replied. "Well, except Quinn and her dad because he's the lawyer that was helping me with this emancipation."
"So, you mean to tell me, your parents were okay with this emancipation?"
"Actually, Mrs. J, they don't know what I have been trying to do."
"Oh hell to the no, Sam!" Mercedes heard her mother say and almost busted out laughing. It had been such a long time since she had last heard her mother say that expression. "Boy, if you were my son, I would've killed you."
"Edith, let the boy explain what the hell he was thinking." her father said. It was quiet in the room for a few minutes before she heard her father tell Sam that he needed to speak up.
"This is my senior year, I didn't want to move just to have to start all over. Marcus and I have plans to get scholarships and I just didn't see how I can do this with me there." Sam responded. Again silence fell in the room then the sound of a phone line trilling. Mercedes felt her heart skip a beat as she listened to the voice of Sam's father say Hello. She listened as her parents made Sam confess to what he'd been up to. His parents were upset beyond reason as they told Sam that he would be on the first over to them in the morning.
"Mr. Evans, this is Maurice. Marcus' father, can I call you Dwight?" she heard her father ask before continuing once Sam's father said it was okay. "Look, I completely agree with your feelings towards this. What Sam did was downright crazy but as crazy as it sounds, I can understand why he did it."
"Maurice!"
"Hold on, babe, let me finish." her father said before directing his attention back to the phone. "Now, if my son did something like this I would have been just as upset but I'd be kidding myself if I said I wouldn't have pulled the same stunt. This is their senior year, Sam has a chance at getting a scholarship at McKinley with my son. And I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't look at Sam as if he were my son too..."
"He practically lived over there if we're being honest. How much do we owe you for all the food he's eaten there?" Dwight said as they all laughed.
"Look, let Sam finish out his senior year here and we can call it even." her father said as the room fell silent again. Mercedes pressed her ears on the door a bit harder as she tried to hear a bit better.
"Sam, pick up the phone." Dwight said. Seconds later, she could hear Sam saying okay numerous times before apologizing and telling that he was not trying to hurt them.
"So, you're going to pretend that you're not relieved that you and Sam can continue to be together?" Quinn asked as she looked over to where Sam was still trying to casually look their way. "You think I believe he's really dating Brittany? You're going to tell me that now that Sam has been living with you all that you haven't been wishing and hoping there was someone you can brag about how great of a boyfriend he's been to you? Trust me, I know how great of a guy he is." Quinn smiled as she stared at Mercedes waiting for her to break down.
"If he was so good, why did you leave him?" Mercedes asked instead and watched as the smile faded away from her face.
"I guess you can say, don't know what you got till its gone. Or maybe, we just weren't meant to be as you two are." she looked over to where Finn was busy talking to Rachel Berry before returning her eyes to Mercedes. "Just because someone is good, doesn't mean they're good for you." she sighed then forced a smile. "Pick one of those or all of those reasons for why I am not with Sam. Either way, I was that broken road for the two of you. I know this now." she added as continued to eat her food. Mercedes wondered if Quinn knew about Finn's affair but she decided it wasn't her job to lay it out for her. She was just happy that Quinn was no longer the threat she thought she was. "Look, I get why you're a bit apprehensive about me. I wasn't the nicest to you last year, but this pregnancy has changed me. I'm maturing, I guess." she added with a giggle.
"I guess we all are." Mercedes responded.
"Things are changing for the better I think." Quinn added with a nod as Mercedes slowly allowed a smile to spread across her face.
Quinn was right and she didn't even know how much they were changing. No one knew how much was changing other than Mercedes and Sam. The minute he moved in, things changed. Mercedes and Sam became inseparable at home, while they tried to keep their relationship a secret. At first, they were doing well. Marcus kept Sam occupied as they looked up different colleges that they would apply to. Every morning, as usual, Sam and Mercedes were the first up. They would be in the bathroom together preparing for the day like a married couple. As Mercedes combed her hair, Sam would stand behind her and place kisses on her shoulders before wrapping his arm around her waist. He did these things every morning and then leaving the bathroom within minutes before Marcus' alarm would go off. Mercedes would be getting dressed in her bedroom when she would hear Sam and Marcus leaving for school.
On the weekends, things were a bit different. They were inseparable to the point that it was almost like Marcus barely existed. They would cook breakfast together, and jokingly made jokes as Marcus looked at them as if they were acting weird. Every once and a while he would get Sam's attention and they would begin talking till Mercedes would excuse herself to the living room. She always knew how to get his attention as she began playing one of his favorite old school games. Mario Kart, was always their favorite past time as they would always play the game incorrectly. One weekend, while Marcus was on a date with Santana, Sam played with her all night. At first, Sam really tried to beat Mercedes but she was actually a pro when it came to the game. So, Sam would bet with her that if he won he would get a kiss. Mercedes, wanting to get a kiss from him, purposely began driving backwards. Once he noticed what she was doing he smiled and began driving backwards as well. Even while trying to lose, she beat him. From that point, they began playing the game that way.
"Hold on, if you're setting up Mario Kart, I want in." Sam said cutting off Marcus as he spoke. Mercedes didn't even turn to look his way as she handed him a controller.
"Already knew you were coming." She replied. As Sam began selecting his character, Mercedes looked back as Marcus came over and pulled a controller as well to play. "You want in too?" She asked with a smile as he picked his character and sat next to Sam.
"Yeah."
"Mercedes, scoot over." Sam said as she moved a bit.
"When did you start calling her, Mercedes?" Marcus asked. Mercedes remembered that Sam ignored his question as he quickly pressed play. They started the game as they normally would, driving in the right direction. Once Marcus began to win, Mercedes began to slow down and reverse. "Merc, you're going the wrong way."
"Oh, you're cheating!" Sam shouted as he began driving backwards as well. "Thought we'd play normally since Marcus is playing." Sam said as he reached over and tried to swat away her controller.
"Stop! Stop!" Mercedes shouted between giggles and moving her controller away from him. Sam was still trying to reach her in the course, while Marcus was confused and still trying to actually win. " Ahhhh! I just passed Marcus! You'll never catch me!"
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Marcus asked as he finally drove across the finish line. He grabbed his cellphone as it rang and glared at the both of them. "Hey babe, where you at?" Marcus asked into the phone. "Yeah, I'm on my way." he paused and looked over at Sam. "Hey, you wanna come with us, Sam? Santana wants to catch a movie. She said Brittany will be with us. She can help you get over the whole Quinn thing." Sam stiffened next to Mercedes as she tried not to glare at her brother trying to take Sam on a double date.
"I've been over Quinn since prom, Marcus."
"Bullshit! You guys still talk even though her dad isn't even helping you with the whole emancipation bull shit." Marcus said before talking on the phone again. "Babe, Sam and I are on our way." he added as he walked away before Sam could object. Mercedes pretended as if she wasn't annoyed and nervous about Sam going on a date with Brittany. She was known as the school's easiest lay with no shame in her game. And, with Mercedes being a virgin still and Sam not being one, it would be crazy to feel like Sam would reject someone like Brittany.
"Mercedes..."
"Just go, Sam." Mercedes replied cutting him off as she turned off the game and prepared to get up. Sam quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back down. He stroked her hand and leaned over to kiss her but stopped when Marcus came back out.
"Let's go, Sam!" Marcus shouted as Sam slowly stood up. Mercedes remembered wishing she could tell Sam not to go with Marcus. She wanted to tell him that he better now really date her. But, she didn't. She sat back as Sam went on the date with Brittany. The next morning, after the double date, Sam tried to continue their morning routine but Mercedes was still upset.
"You told me to go, Mercedes."
"And you did. I'm sure you had fun." Mercedes said as she continued to do her hair. "You're getting the pretty blonde cheerleader that you're used to having."
"Stop that, Mercedes." Sam said before turning her to face him. "I told Brittany that I'm not interested or ready to date. So we just watched the movie. Come on, I texted you the entire time." he added. Mercedes sighed knowing that he did in fact text the entire time but that didn't stop her from feeling a bit jealous. They were still hiding their relationship. Outside of their home life, they were still acting as if nothing had changed.
So, now sitting with Quinn, his ex-girlfriend, as she tried to pry things out of Mercedes. Mercedes wished she could just be open about things the way Quinn was opening up about her pregnancy but she just couldn't. So instead of delving into her problems with Sam, she got Quinn to talk more about her pregnancy and her relationship with Finn. Quinn was extremely forthcoming when it came to dishing out about her own issues. It was as if she'd been holding it all in and finally was able to let it all out.
"Something is going on with Finn and Rachel. I just know it but I have no proof."
"Why do you need proof? Trust your gut." Mercedes said as the bell rang. She grabbed her lunch tray as Quinn followed suit then smiled as if it finally dawned on her. Mercedes really just wanted to say that she knew Finn was cheating with Rachel but she left it at that as her and Quinn parted ways. Once she made her way to her locker, Tina and Kurt came rushing by.
"Okay Dish!"
"Yes, dish." Tina added. "Quinn Fabray spent her entire lunch with you and she looked as if she was enjoying the conversation. When did you two become so chummy?" Tina asked as she pulled out a notepad as if she were about to get a scoop she could use for the Grapevine. Mercedes shook her head and pushed the notepad away.
"Chill, we have English Honors together and we were placed as partners."Mercedes lied. Sure they had the same class but no one forced any partnering on them. "She was just going over some of those details, so chill with the notepad." she added as Tina frowned and put her notepad away. Kurt was just about to say something when Sam and Marcus came walking by distracting them. As usual, Sam wouldn't say much when Marcus was near but his eyes always said a lot and since Brittany was still near he felt he needed to plead his innocence with his eyes. Mercedes looked back at him as if to say she understood without letting her eyes linger but it was too late as Kurt caught the look.
"Wait a minute, did Sam Evans just give you a look?" Kurt asked. "And did you give him one back?"
"You're insane, Kurt."
"Come on, Mercedes. The entire school has been talking about Sam since he moved into the Joneses. You have to have some type of tea to spill." Tina said with a smile. "Have you bumped into him in the halls? Played spin the bottle truth or dare again? Seven minutes in your bedroom? Give me something, please!" she begged. Mercedes shook her head as she giggled at her friend's antics but ignored her as she pulled out one of her notebooks just as Sam came running back towards her.
"Mercedes, please tell me you have your charger with you? I left mine at home." Sam said as Kurt and Tina both stared in shock as they watched Sam and Mercedes exchange words.
"You can borrow mine. My phone is fully charged, but I will need it before your practice later." she replied as she handed him her charger. Sam smiled and quickly took the charger from her.
"I will put in my locker. You know the combo, right?" he asked before placing a chaste kiss on her cheek out of habit. "You're a lifesaver." he added before jetting off in the opposite direction. If this exchange happened last year, she would have fainted but now, they were beyond that. A kiss on the cheek was nothing to her but everything to Kurt and Tina as they fangirled.
"Oh my God! You know his combo!"
"It's no big deal."
"Mercedes, he kissed your cheek!"
"I would so die!"
"Calm down, you guys. It's just Sam." she replied knowing that the kiss on the cheek was not something he did purposely. And before she could hear more from the peanut gallery, she excused herself. "I'll see you guys later."
Later that night, Sam crept into Mercedes bedroom as he did whenever he thought Marcus had fallen asleep and the Jones' weren't back in from work yet. These were the moments she loved the most. Aside from when they spent playing games and making out, the moments they spent in her bed were the best. They never did much, but these were the moments that Sam bore his soul to her as they always talked openly then. Some nights, he would just hold her and hum songs to her as she pretended as if she knew the words to the song he hummed. This night though Sam had other things in mind and he wanted to tell her all about it and she was all ears.
"Marcus has all these plans for us once we get our scholarships. He wants us to go to Alabama." he paused as he looked down at her. "You know, Roll Tide." she stiffened at the thought of him leaving and she could tell he felt it. "Those are his plans. I want to stay here and go to Ohio State. They have a really good team and I think it would be best to stay here."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I have a different vision for my future and...I mean, I see Marcus in it but mainly because I see you in it." he explained as he traced her fingers with his own. "I see myself with a wife, living in a house like this one with I don't know..." he paused as he thought about it then continued. "Maybe two point four children running around."
"You mean two point five Sam." she corrected and giggled as he looked at her as if she didn't make sense. "You can have all those things and a dog, with anyone."
"Mercedes, I stayed here for you." he replied with no hesitation. "I can't see myself with anyone else but you. My vision, my future is riddled with images of you. Our future children running around..." he continued as he intertwined his fingers with hers. "I even see an image of you yelling at me for not cleaning up after a puppy I got us." he smiled as if it played right in front of them. "I just feel as if we were meant to be together. I don't want to jeopardize that." he added and then looked her way. "Do you really think I'd just leave you after graduation and just move with Marcus?"
"I keep forgetting that you're graduating soon." she replied before sighing. She didn't want to be selfish but she tried to avoid thinking of the fact that Sam would be leaving soon. And if she was honest, his vision matched her vision for them. She wanted it.
"Unless, you want me to fail and do another year here." he added with a smile as she jabbed him on his side. "Hey, watch it." he reached over and tickled her till she tried to avoid laughing and waking Marcus.
"Stop it before we wake up Marcus." she giggled as Sam got on top of her and held her hands over her head. He stared down at her for a few seconds as if it were the first time he'd ever seen her giggle. "What?" she asked before Sam smiled as well then lowered his head and kissed her. He slowly released his grip on her hands as she ran her fingers through his hair. She wasn't sure if it was because of Sam's vision of their future together or if she was just feeling ready but she pulled his shirt up and tossed it to the ground. He looked at her with eyes hungrily begging her to tell him to stop but she pulled him back down before taking one of his hands and placing it under her shirt. He allowed his hand to hover over her breast in shock to see that she wasn't wearing a bra beneath her tank top. Unsure of himself he pulled back and stared at her.
"We don't have to do this."
"I know. I want to do this." she smiled as she pulled him back down on her and placed his hand on her breast. They kissed as if this were the first time they ever shared a passionate kiss before as Sam caressed her breast. She moaned softly as he trailed kisses down her neck till he reached her other breast which was still covered by her tank top. He nibbled around the cloth before pulling it up with his teeth then burying his head under her tank top. Mercedes gasped when she felt his warm tongue wrap around her nipple and bit her lower lip when she felt Sam grind himself between her legs. Since she was only wearing her pajama shorts and Sam was in his sweats, there wasn't much between the two of them. Sam continued to suck on her nipple as he grinded himself between her legs as she continued to moan his name softly. Sam slowly pulled himself away as he stood to remove his sweats as she looked at him with anticipation.
"We can stop if you want." Sam offered. Mercedes smiled as she watched him continue to undress and search the pocket of his pants for what she assumed were condoms. She knew that Sam didn't want to stop and she loved that he was still offering for them stop while they were ahead, but she wanted this. She wanted him. She'd thought of this many times and she was ready. She took a deep breath and pulled off her shorts while keeping her tank top on then throwing the shorts his way as he found a condom and placed it in his mouth.
"I want this." she replied as Sam nodded and placed the condom on. She wasn't sure what she expected it all to be like when she finally had sex with Sam but from what she'd heard, she knew to expect pain. She waited for Sam to make his way to her and stared at the ceiling as he fiddled between her legs. She sucked her lips in as she felt something enter inside her and smiled when there was no pain. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing but she was loving the look on his face.
"Wow." Sam said as he kissed her and then she felt him pull something out of her as something else try to enter inside her.
"Wait...wait...stop...what the hell was that, Sam?" she asked as Sam stopped and stared at her.
"That was the tip."
"I thought you already were in."
"That was my finger prepping you." he explained. "I didn't want to hurt you."
"So we haven't even started yet?" she asked as she tried to look down.
"Maybe we should stop." Sam looked down at her then sighed as he prepared to pull away.
"Wait, don't...don't stop. I'm ready." she said. "I promise." she added before placing her hands between them and then searching to put him in herself. Sam reached for her hand and stopped then slowly entered her before kissing her softly. She tried to match his rhythm unsure if she was to move along with him or not. She gasped a couple times as he did slow thrust inside of her then just paused as he stared at her. "What? Am I doing it wrong?"
"No. You're perfect." he whispered as he continued again. The moment felt as if it were a lifetime but it really was just merely five minutes. Sam pulled away then took his shirt and rolled the condom off before looking over at her as Mercedes stared at the ceiling. She wasn't sure if she liked it or not. What she did enjoy was the way Sam looked. She wondered if she was supposed to do it a couple more times before she enjoyed it but knew there was no way they could go another round before her parents came home. Sam walked over to her then began wiping her down as if she were a baby. He smiled at her, gazing at her the same way he did before he told her she was perfect. She wanted to know what he was thinking but before she could ask, he was kissing her again. "I love you." he said once he pulled away. She was in shock and wondering if she should say it back but he interrupted her thought again. "Oh shit, babe, you're bleeding." he said as he continued to wipe her down. She chuckled before taking the towel from him.
"That's normal." Mercedes replied as she looked at the towel, at least that was what she read would happen.
"Oh...so I didn't hurt you, right?" he asked then they both froze as the sound of a car pulling in the driveway could be heard. "Your parents are home." they scrambled around the room searching for his sweats then made their way to the door as Sam stood in her doorway pulling her in for a kiss. "See you in the morning. I love you." he said it once again leaving her stunned as he sneaked his way into Marcus' room. The minute he placed his head on his pillow, Marcus turned the light on showing that he'd been sitting in the dark waiting for Sam to come in.
"We need to talk."
So what do you all think Marcus wants to talk about?
What do you think about Quinncedes?
I know many of you (Whoknowstv) can't stand this Sam lol ...What do you think he'll do next chapter. I should just post the next part but I am tired. lol.
