Kyohei's flying spinning back kick hit the robot square in the middle of its chest and it collapsed. Shirtless in sweat pants, he grinned as he landed in a fighting stance. "Yeah, baby!"
Eriko floated over to him from across the training room's floor, a glass of green fluid in one of her platform's tentacles. If the disembodied brain had had a human face, she would have had a smile to match the approval in her electronic voice: "You've made a lot of progress over the past week, Kyohei. I'm very proud of you."
Kyo took the glass from her and drank some of the green fluid. "I wish I could take them on now - not just Sei but all of them! The look on Sei's face when I take out her soldiers before I go after her…" He laughed.
Eriko drifted a little closer, and one of her tentacles brushed Kyohei's cheek. "Patience, Kyo. We'll get to punish Sei soon enough. Now, you have to get back upstairs before you're missed. But before you go, I want to show you something. Call it a preview of coming attractions."
Kyo followed her out of the training room and down a long, brick-walled tunnel. "Where are we going, Eriko?"
"A warehouse a couple of blocks over. You trust me, don't you, Kyo?"
"With my life, Eriko. I love you."
"I love you, too."
Kyo followed her up a flight of stares into a large space with a purple cybot squatting in the middle of it.
Kyohei smiled. "Cool!"
"I thought you'd like it," Eriko said. "I'll teach you how to fly it tomorrow night. You're learning so quickly, you should be ready to take it out in a couple of days."
"I can't wait."
