Chapter XXXVIII: Moving towards the Equinox

Wednesday Addams

"Meep, Meep, Meep," Cousin Itt said as we stalked through cemetery hoping to not to be noticed by Plasmius or his birds. Normally, I would love this, there is nothing like be remembering of your own mortality and feeling the spirits of those who refuse to move on to make you feel alive but now all I felt was dread.

"You feel it too?" I ask him shuddering; it was if the whole land was covered in dark shroud that oppressed every other emotion in your soul. "We have to keep going," I tell him as we continue while pausing only to make sure that we have not been spotted.

While we were walking, a shadow from the corner of my eye caught my attention. It looked like a young woman lying on the ground but other than that I wasn't sure. I carefully snuck over to the sight where the body lay.

"Meep," Cousin Itt squeaked in warning as I turned around even hidden underneath his cascade of fur you could tell he was nervous.

"I know it could be a trap, but I'm not leaving anyone to Plasmius' mercy," I tell him going up to where form is strewn and confirmed it was a young woman no older than 15 with black hair. She was dressed in a white tank top that stopped with a heart on the center and a pair faded jeans that went down to her ankles.

"Meep?" Cousin Itt asked curiously as I lean over the girl and see that that left strap of her tank top is broken and huge gashes are on her shoulder.

"She needs help," I tell him as I take a phial out of my pocket, "let's hope Grandmama's potion is still good," I said pouring some of it on the wound causing her to shudder and gently opening her mouth to pour the rest down her throat. "We better find some place to keep her safe before Plasmius finds her," I tell Cousin Itt as I sling her over my shoulder and go to find someplace safe to keep her.

GIW OPERATIVE J

"I have installed the surveillance equipment as you have ordered," I informed Operative H as we met up for a meeting, "if those ghost show themselves we'll find them," I tell him as smiles happily.

"Well done," he said taking out a device from his pocket, "Everything is in place and we begin to sweep the affected areas for evidence," he told me reaching into his coat and took out a card. "You'll need this to enter the dorms," H says giving it to me.

"Thank you sir," I tell him as he nods, "permission to ask a question sir," I tell him as looking at the card which was labeled 'VIP/Guest' on the front.

"Permission granted, what's wrong," H asked as small bit concerned cracked through the mask of a face he wore at all times.

"Why are we sanctioned only to monitor this place, if the ghosts are here we should capture them," I ask him as H sighed. "Did I breech my clearance level?" I ask him worriedly as he shook his head.

"No, you're fine J, the reason we can't take them is that our benefactors at Bureau decided we're not fit to capture them and assigning that task to one of their agents to bring the ghosts in," he informs as I make a face at that statement. Most of us have grown to hate the Bureau and their methods. "Now if you are done you are to go to Sector Gamma and search for evidence," he said I nodded and walked down the hall to my destination.

X Racer

"They went down this way," I said as we raced down the corridors but stopped when arrived at Danielle's dorm. The door was opened and from what I could see her things were strewn across the room. "Were you guys already searching for bugs?" I ask them as I nervously approach the door.

"No, we were with Speed, Lucy, and Connor warning Headmaster about the GIW," Tucker said as we walked inside. "This place is a mess," he said amazed, "not even Danny's room back home is as messy as this," Tucker said as Sam elbowed him. "Hey!" he grunted.

"Danielle is not like this, I've known the few times, I've been here she always keep everything neat and clean," I explain. The few times I've been here is to help her with some project or to deliver assignments to her when she hasn't been feeling good but every time I was here she had everything tidy.

"Oh no!" Sam gasped as me and Tucker raced over to where she was and saw her dresser ransacked, "her diary is gone," she said as I looked at Tucker with a strange look.

"Why would the GIW want to her diary, there's nothing in there," I ask her as she rolls her eyes in frustration.

"Danni uses her dairy to record her flashbacks and fears, I introduced to her a few years ago," she explains as it begins to set in why her diary is so important, "if the Guys in White have her diary they can use her fears against her," Sam says turning to face us. "X, I need you to come with me, no doubt if they have it, they're probably share it with Zazic and we can't let that happen," she says as I understand what needs to be done. "Tucker, scan the room for bugs or any other GIW implanted devices," she tells the Technogeek before we leave hoping we can prevent Danielle's secrets from being used as a weapon.

Clockwork

"Stupid Observants," I muttered to myself as I watched them plan against me. Sometimes I wish they would leave the timeline alone and stop meddling where they are not wanted but the ancient decree dictates that their interference is necessary.

I was about to leave to meditate when I heard a voice chuckle, "They are fatalists Tempus, they'll never stop as long other roads remain open." I turn around and see my brother Chronos standing in front of me.

"What brings you to my tower," I tell my sibling warmly as I show him to my quarters so we can talk without interruptions.

"I bring news from Lady Hecate, the Pantheon has decreed they will not intervene if war breaks out," he tells me sadly as I sigh. I figured as much as Zeus would not allow it after our last venture in there. "There is still hope, the Roman delegation has not yet voted and I have talked with Eventus and he has agreed to plead our cause," he said as I shook my head, the Roman delegation of Olympus was tricky to deal with as they harbor resentment for not being 'full' members of the Pantheon.

"What of the others?" I asked him curiously hoping that the other Pantheons could persuade the Olympians to change their minds.

"Not good, the Egyptian Pantheon has sworn neutrality unless their realm is under threat and the Norse Pantheon is in a state of Anarchy," Chronos says, "the only thing you can do is hold a meeting of the Council to get a vote on whether or not summoning the Quorum Mortuus is needed he says as I bow my head knowing the council would never allow the Army of the Dead to rise again especially since they are staunch allies of Pariah Dark. "Hope is not lost Tempus, we can still prevent this and there is your ward that if needed will no doubt join our cause," he said before vanishing.

"I pray to the Master Spirits that it will not come to that," I say sadly as I go back to the Observatory to watch over things on earth.

Annalise

"Soon those freaks will be gone forever," I said to myself as I walked down the hall to where father had them stationed. I was anxious to see what they had uncovered and possibly use it.

While I was walking, I heard something nearby and so hid in a nearby corner so I could see what was happening.

"X said that whatever happened was urgent," I heard Speed Stain say as he and his loser friends raced down the hall. Those GIW must have found something good and are trying to get it back. My mind raced as I thought of what dark secret the Gs had uncovered.

"This should be good," I whispered as I waited for the loser to pass before emerging and racing towards the GIWs base. When I approached the door I could tell it was locked and shuttered so to deter any intruders from entering their realm but I was determined to get inside to view the secrets within.

"Operative C," I heard a voice say as I saw two of the agents head this way and retreated to my corner again, "Have you heard anything more from the Bureau?" the agent asked his comrade as they approached the door and entered something into the keypad.

"87-74-00-09-99," I whispered as I watched them press the buttons causing the door to open and the government operatives entered silently in. "Now's my chance," I said as the door shut and raced up to it. "Now for the code," I said entering the code watching the door inside.

I walked in and discovered they had converted the empty room into lab of some sorts. It was filled with all kind of equipment including two operating tables, "If they catch the Phantoms I may want to watch this show," I said as looking at the equipment ready to experiment on Danny and Danielle but that would have to wait.

"Operative N, did you find anything in sector Alpha?" a voice said as I hid inside a closet before the agents arrived. The alabaster clad drones entered the room and looked around as if they could detect the presence.

"We found this, we believe it may contain some vital information," another one said placing a book on table, "we have yet to examine it as

the GIW could find me.

Operative H believes that we need more research," he said as they walked away and I slunk out of the closet to the table.

Laying was a medium sized black and green book with the Phantoms' symbol on it. Examining it closer I found these words embroidered with silver lettering:

The Diary of Danielle Alexis Fenton

"Jackpot," I said smiling as I took the book and left the room before

Vlad/Abramelin

"it would seem that fate decreed me superior once more," I told my foe as he glared at me, I could sense my old pupil residing deep within the boy. If could I goad him out of the boy I could destroy both of them at once and be able to continue what I started over 50 centuries ago.

"Why do you say that Abramelin, because you are older?" he asked raising an eyebrow at me before shouting, "repello!" sending me crashing against the wall. "I am stronger than you could ever be, those followers of the path of darkness will destroy themselves," he said charging up an ectoblast at me.

There was something about his words that set something off in my mind. How dare he claim such a thing, I am Abramelin, father of light and first to bring the Knowledge to the world. He would pay for such affront. "A pathetic spell even an Adeptus Minor wouldn't taint himself with such a poor spell," I taunted the boy feeling the anger swell up in him.

"I beat you before and drove you into the recesses of Vlad's mind," the boy said his voice trembling with fear as he spoke his own words. "I can do it again," he spat his eyes glowing with power. "You don't scare me Abramelin," he stuttered as I smiled dodging his attack.

"The last time you had help, those wretched Ghostbusters and the sniveling brat you call a sister," I told him, "but now it's just you and me," I told him as he glared at me but calmed down as Hermes once again took control.

"You are the one who is alone, oh father of light, when gave your soul to forces of the Abyss and descended into madness. I have the energy of youth on my side and a mind ready to learn all the secrets I wish to impart to it," he said raising you hand, "where as your mind is old and corrupted- lentulus!"

"Delecto!" I shouted absorbing the spell into my body and laughed, "So, Hermes you value youth," I told him as he glared at me, "then let me help you achieve that- repeto juvenis," and smiled as I watched time unravel for the boy and secure my victory.
