A/N: As much as I hate to do this, I think it's finally time for summer love to come to an end. I loved every minute of writing this story, and I will miss writing it, but I feel as if it has run its course. I will be posting a missing chapter that I felt like needed to be wrote, but I forgot to do it, very soon but after that this book will be finished. Maybe in the future I'll write a few more missing chapters, but for now I'm going to focus on my other stories. I don't know which story I'm going to focus on yet, I'll try focus on 'I'll be with you, forever' since I know a lot of you like that story, but at the same time I want to work on new things so look out for new stories.
Thank you all for reading, I seriously can't express my gratitude enough. I never expected to actually finish this book, hell I never expected myself to write more than 5 chapters, but I'm so glad I did since I seriously love this story so much. This has been the first story I've ever finished, and I think it's one I'll love forever. I completely fell in love with Stefan and Elena's love story in this book, so I probably will be posting a few missing chapters in the future. So look out for them! So here it is, the last chapter of this story! Once again, thank you for reading and see you soon.
13 years later
Elena woke up to feel some arms shaking her, she groaned and turned over, knowing it was far too early for anyone to be waking her. Even though she rolled over, the shaking didn't stop. In fact, it just got worse. She opened one of her eyes to see her 14 year old daughter, looking down at her with both excitement and displeasure on her face.
"Come on mum! Wake up." Adelaide shouted, making Elena groan and cover her ears. She looked over to the clock and saw that it was 5am, and now she was automatically more tired. Why the hell was her daughter waking her up at 5am?
"Go back to sleep." Elena instructed, closing her eyes and pulling her blanket over herself. Even though she was in her mid 30's, she still sometimes acted like a grumpy teenager. Her hate for the mornings still hadn't changed over the years. According to Stefan, her hate had actually increased.
"I'm too excited to sleep." Adelaide almost sung, pulling the blanket back down. That was right, it was the big day. The day Adelaide had been counting down for months. No wonder she was so excited, she had been talking about this non stop since last year.
"Addy, you don't leave until 9am, try and get a little more sleep okay sweetheart." Elena replied, feeling a little more awake now but still extremely tired. She probably couldn't go back to sleep, since she had been brutally woken, but she still needed time to wake herself up.
"Fine." Adelaide sighed, and walked out of her room in a sulk. Elena turned over and snuggled herself into Stefan, who wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in even closer. She leaned her head against his chest, loving the fact that he still remained so toned. He was also in his mid 30's, but he still looked like that 18 year old she first met. In fact, he was even more handsome if that was possible. But she loved everything about her husband, and even though it sounds impossible, they both loved each other a little bit more every day. They were the connecting pieces of a puzzle, and they never planned on letting each other go.
"She gets her love of mornings from you." Elena groaned, wishing her daughter had inherited the late sleeper gene. There had been a lot of mornings when Adelaide had woken them up way too early, and that meant Elena was in a foul mood for the rest of the day.
"Well she certainly doesn't get it from you." Stefan teased, making Elena gently bite his chest in response. After 13 years, they still remained playful together. And Elena loved that, she just really loved her husband in general.
"Did you help Adelaide pack?" Elena asked as she closed her eyes, listening to his faint heart beat as she rested on his chest. He trailed one of his fingers up and down her back, and it was so relaxing that Elena almost fell back to sleep.
"Yep, she packed and unpacked, then re packed, 4 times." Stefan admitted, making Elena laugh. She definitely got that trait from Elena, the need for things to be perfect.
"And are you all packed?" Elena asked as he moved his hands into her hair. Once again, the way he was playing with her hair almost made her fall back to sleep. But his voice woke her up from her relaxed trance.
"I've packed enough for 2 days yeah." Stefan replied, feeling at ease right now. He could be anywhere, but being near Elena could always make him feel so relax and calm.
"I can't believe she's going away for 2 months, I'm going to miss her." Elena spoke, feeling sad to be away from her daughter for that long. The longest she had gone without seeing her was 2 weeks, and that was when she was on a school trip to France. She never liked being away from her family, so 2 months was a really long time for her.
"2 months isn't that long." Stefan countered, but he would also miss their daughter too. But, and Stefan would never admit this out loud, he was looking forward to being able to sleep in on the weekends. Normally Adelaide had them out of bed by 7am on a Saturday, and he was getting too old for that. He needed his sleep now.
"It felt long when we were there." Elena replied. Adelaide was going away to Damon's camp for the summer, and she couldn't be more excited. Damon's camp was thriving better than ever, there had a rough few years where he thought he was going to have to close it down, but Stefan pulled through and told everyone in sight about the camp and now it's better than ever. Damon had managed to extend the camp for all ages, 11-18, instead of just 17-18, so Adelaide jumped at the opportunity to go.
Adelaide had always wanted to go to the camp, ever since she was old enough to know it was a thing, but once she found out it was the place where her parents fell in love, she couldn't wait to go. Once Adelaide was old enough to know what love was, she asked her parents about how they fell in love. Adelaide was expecting them to have some boring love story, like they met through work, because all of her friends parents had boring love stories, but she was blown away by Stefan and Elena's romance. She was still pretty young, but she knew Stefan and Elena were soulmates. So ever since she found out they fell in love at camp, and Stefan moved halfway across the world to be with her, she couldn't wait to go to camp because she wanted to find her own soulmate. Stefan and Elena's daughter was a hopeless romantic, just like Elena. Elena didn't want her daughter to get her heart broken if she didn't meet her 'true love' at camp, but her daughter was beautiful so she knew she would find her love. Adelaide inherited those glowing green eyes from Stefan, and it made her eyes sparkle.
"Are you kidding? The time flew by, it felt like one day you were arriving and the next you were leaving." Stefan argued. They often like to reflect about their meeting, and the way they fell in love, but in their eyes their love story after camp was the best. That's when they started their life together, and their family.
"But I'm here now." Elena replied, smiling into his skin. She didn't like to think how different her life would be if Stefan never moved to be with her, she couldn't imagine her life without him.
"And you're never getting away." Stefan told her, tickling her sides. Elena squealed and jumped out of the bed as quick as she could. They ran around their room for a few minutes before Elena finally stopped and wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling tired. She was definitely getting too old to be chased around the room, but that never stopped her.
"I'm going to miss you." Elena pouted, and all Stefan wanted to was kiss that pout away. Her pout was beautiful. No, scratch that. Everything about her was beautiful. She aged like fine wine, and Stefan couldn't believe she was his wife.
"I'm only going to be gone for 2 days, Addy can't catch a plane by herself." Stefan replied, pulling her in even closer and resting his chin on the top of her head.
"I know, but I hate being apart from you." Elena told him, and it was true. Even if it was only for 2 days, she couldn't stand not being around him. Whenever he would have to go on a work trip, she would feel extremely restless until he came home. She needed him, and he needed her.
"We could always turn it into a full family trip." Stefan suggested, liking the idea of that. They had taken a lot of family vacations, but every time they seem to just get better.
"We have work, just because the kids have time off doesn't mean we do." Elena groaned. Both Stefan and Elena had full time jobs now, and both of them were high up in their career path, but they still make time for each other and their 2 daughters, Adelaide and Effy. Effy was only 6, meaning she needed more attention than Adelaide did, but she had already developed her own little diva personality.
Adelaide had grown up to be pretty shy, and she had an obsession with books. She had hundreds of them, and they were scattered all over the house. She had a couple of close friends, and that's the way she liked it. Even though the sisters were best friends, they were complete opposites. Effy had already developed an attitude, and she loved the attention. Elena had caught her multiple times trying to put on make up, and everyone in the playground wanted to be her friend. She was the popular girl, and Adelaide was the book lover, but that just made them become even closer.
"Don't remind me." Stefan groaned. He loved his job, he did, but he much preferred spending time with his family.
"Since it's clear we won't be getting back to sleep, you should go make me breakfast. And make it big, since I am eating for 2 now." Elena spoke, smiling the devious smile she always wore when she wanted something. Elena was 6 months pregnant, but this time they were expecting a boy. Elena and Stefan had been debating names for a while now, but they finally decided on the name Noah.
"I don't think it's my little boy that needs all the food." Stefan joked, making Elena laugh at him.
"Go get breakfast started whilst I jump in the shower." Elena ordered, making Stefan salute her then walk out of the room. After taking a quick morning shower she went to check in on her daughters, just to make sure they're okay. She opened Effy's door a gap and saw that she was fast asleep, which wasn't a surprise. It was 5am after all. Next she went to Adelaide's room and saw her sat on her bed, reading a book. Adelaide smiled when she saw Elena and Elena sat down next to her.
"Are you going to be okay out there?" Elena asked, feeling her maternal instincts kick in. She was always going to be worried about her children, especially when they were travelling half the world away.
"I'll be fine mum." Adelaide assured. She didn't like the thought of leaving her parents for so long, but she couldn't wait to see the camp where her parents met.
"Promise me you'll stay safe, and you tell your uncle Damon that you need to call me every day." Elena instructed.
"I promise." Adelaide replied, making Elena pull her into a quick hug.
"Come on, your dad is making breakfast." Elena told her, making Adelaide jump up and run into the kitchen. Adelaide wasn't exactly a food lover like Elena, but she did love spending time with her dad.
Elena walked into the kitchen to see Adelaide helping Stefan serve the food onto the plates. She leaned against the wall and allowed time to freeze for a second whilst she watched the two. These past 13 years had been amazing, even through the bad times. And they were bad times. They had their arguments, some so bad one of them would walk out, and they had their bad times where they couldn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. But together, as a family, they pulled through. And they would continue to do that for as long as they all live, because that's what family does.
She looked at Stefan who was joking about something with their daughter and felt so much love in her, that it became a psychical feeling. Everyday she asked herself how she managed to get so lucky, and she considered everyday a blessing when she was able to wake up next to him.
Elena stood there for a few moments, before Stefan finally realised she was in there. He smiled when their eyes met, and he also felt extremely lucky. She was still incredibly beautiful, and everyday he made sure she knew that. She was a beautiful, kind soul and he couldn't believe she was his wife. She was perfect in his eyes, and he was perfect in her eyes.
"What are you guys making?" Elena asked, walking further into the kitchen, but still not breaking eye contact with Stefan. He gave her that smile, that smile that was blessed from the heavens, the one that he could use to make her do anything. Not that he would ever seriously use it, he valued her way too much.
"Bacon and eggs, I basically cooked all of it myself." Adelaide replied, causing Stefan to sarcastically scoff. Adelaide didn't usually reply with a smart answer, so it was funny when she did.
"I'm sure you did, after all you are the best cook in this house." Elena spoke, making Stefan throw a piece of bacon at Elena, which she caught in her mouth.
"Should I wake Effy up?" Stefan asked as they all started to eat.
"Let her sleep in for a while, you know she hates being woken up." Elena smiled, knowing she was like her mum in that aspect.
"And she hates this stuff anyways." Adelaide added. Yet another reason why the sisters were so different, Adelaide loved greasy food whereas Effy only like the high quality food, even though she was young she already knew what type of food she liked.
"Actually, we should wake her up since you guys need to be leaving soon." Elena spoke. They needed to arrive at the airport early, just in case they were any delays at customer service. Stefan was dropping Adelaide off at camp, staying with Damon for a day, then coming back home to Elena and Effy.
Elena stood up to walk into Effy's room. She saw that Effy was still sound asleep and she almost felt bad about waking her up. Gently, she shook her until she slowly opened her eyes.
"You need to say goodbye to your dad and your sister, they're leaving soon." Elena spoke, and it took Effy a few minutes to get up, but she finally did it. They walked into the living room, to see Adelaide and Stefan putting their coats on to get ready to go.
"Come give your daddy a big kiss." Stefan spoke once he saw Effy. He picked her up and showered her face with kisses, making her whine in protest.
"Daaad! I've only just woken up." She huffed, wiping her face as Stefan put her back down.
"But I won't see you for 2 days." Stefan pouted, brining her in for a hug. Effy returned it, before walking over to her sister. She gave her a big hug, before whispering something in her ear and making them both giggle. No doubt it was something mischievous.
Stefan walked over to Elena whilst the 2 girls were speaking and pulled her into a long passionate kiss, one like their first ever kiss.
"I'll be thinking of you, and I'll definitely be thinking about what we did in my room at camp." Stefan spoke, making Elena's cheeks turn red.
"Call me as soon as you get off the plane." Elena demanded, pulling him into a tight hug.
"I will, I need to say goodnight to our little boy." Stefan replied, leaning down to kiss Elena's stomach. He pulled away when Adelaide started to shout, telling Stefan they needed to go and they needed to go now.
Elena and Effy walked them to the door, both of them feeling sad yet happy. Sad, because they couldn't stand for their family to be separated for even a second, but happy because they know Adelaide was going to have an adventure of a lifetime.
Both Adelaide and Stefan turned around to give them once last wave, and Elena decided in that moment that she couldn't remember the last time she wasn't happy. It was probably before she came to camp. Elena knew she was going to have a happy life with Stefan.
And happy, it was.
The End.
