Chapter 38: The Surprise / Her
***Jordon's POV***
"Wow Jordon," Olivia exclaims, "it's so beautiful up here!"
"I still can't believe you've lived in LA your whole life and you've never been up here," we sat on a huge boulder, looking out at the city lights before us, munching on our Chinese food. I twirled some noodles on my fork and took a bite. Delicious.
"I always heard kids talk about Crescent Point in high school, but I never thought anything of it to come up here myself. I guess I should have, it's gorgeous up here, I don't think I've ever seen so many stars,"
"Yeah, it really is, I'm glad you like it," I grinned at her.
"I'm glad I get to experience it with you," she smiles back and then takes a bite of her rice and swallows. I think I'm gonna melt into a puddle on these rocks.
"Me too," I lean in and kiss the side of her forehead. "Are you ready for a surprise?"
"I thought this was the surprise!" a confused look is on her face, but she is still smiling.
"It is but I have a little something else up my sleeve, close your eyes, and don't open 'em till I say okay?" she squeezes her eyes shut and I smile and put my food to the side and get up.
I go to my car and open the back passenger door and grab the two glasses and the jacket I had the bottle wrapped up in. "NO cheating!" I shouted from the car.
"I'm not!" She yelled back.
I walked back over to her and sat down, put the glasses to the side and unwrapped the bottle of wine, which thankfully was still at a good drinking temperature. "Okay give me your hands, and be careful!" She extends her hands out and I put the bottle in her hands.
"Open your eyes,"
She let's her eyes flicker open and they become wide "Jordon oh my god!" She says almost dropping the bottle, my heart stops, she catches herself. I notice her hands are shaking, "Jordon you can't be serious.. Th- this is too much, Sterling Vineyard?" she looks at me as though she's about to cry.
"No, no," I put a hand on her thigh, "you sounded really excited about this wine, and I knew where to get some so I figured why not, I was gonna save it for us to drink later but I got the idea of bringing you up here and I thought now seemed just like the perfect time,"
"Jordon..." She just looks at me, seeming to be at a loss of words. "This is amazing, please tell me you have glasses we need to drink this right now!"
"Of course," I grab the two glasses from beside me and put them in the space between us.
"Would you like to do the honors of opening this exquisite bottle of Chardonnay?" She holds the bottle up like a model and smiles.
"Yes, I would," it just so happens I have a corkscrew on my tool knife, I pull my keys out from my pocket and pull the corkscrew out and I pull the cork out and set it aside. I pour us both a glass and we clink our classes together.
"Cheers to... new experiences," she nods with a smile.
"To new experiences," we both take a drink, and it's pretty damn good. I go back to eating my noodles.
"MMM," Olivia groans, "this is delicious!"
"It really is! And I'm not much of a wine person,"
I look over and notice Olivia isn't really paying attention to me, she's looking out at the town, drinking her Chardonnay. I take a minute to just look at her and take in this moment.
"Thank you, Jordon," she finally looks at me, takes a sip of her wine, and laughs.
"What's funny?" I ask.
"It's just," she laughs, "this is the best date I've ever been on, Chinese food and wine, what more could a girl want?" She continues laughing and I laugh with her.
"I'm glad," I say.
Olivia leans in and kisses me, slowly and sensually, "Oh," she pulls away from me suddenly "I almost forgot," she opens her bag and pulls out a cigarillo pouch, she opens it up and pulls out what appears to be a fat blunt, "I rolled these up when I was at home earlier, figured we could finally smoke together,"
"Hell yeah! That's my girl!" I pat her on the back, and I swear I can see her blushing in the moonlight. She takes a breath and finishes her glass.
"Do you have a lighter?" She asks.
"Of course!" I say enthusiastically, as I pull my lighter out of my pocket. "Do you want more wine?"
"Ooh, yes," I hand her the lighter and she hands me her glass to pour her another drink, and I fill mine back up as well. I think I could get used to this. I take another good drink of my wine, which is delicious, by the way.
Olivia sparks up the blunt and takes a couple hits, "it's called Durban Poison," she says as she passes it to me.
"Nice!" I say, "Now this really is a perfect date!"
"Oh yeah!" Olivia nods at me, "Annnd I don't only have just one blunt, not only just two blunts, but THREE blunts," Olivia laughs and holds up three fingers.
"You're literally so perfect," I smile at her as I take a huge drag off the blunt and pass it back to her.
"Why thank you, I think you're pretty damn great yourself!" She winks and blushes, blunt in her mouth, a crooked smile on her face. It was almost (completely) adorable.
"I didn't know you were a patient?" I asked her, not knowing what else to say.
"Uh, yeah," she chuckles, "Helped me get off of my anxiety medication and sleeping pills every night," she twirled the blunt between her thumb and index finger, looking at it, then, passes it to me. "And I just liked to get high. A lot," she shrugs and laughs.
"Hell yeah, I just got my card about a year, and year and a half ago,"
"Hey me too!" She smiles at me.
"Right after Dr. Ripton's pain seminar," we both said at the same time, we both looked at each other, eyes wide. "Wait, you were there?" I ask her.
"You... were there?" She smiles at me, then a different expression spreads overs her face, one I couldn't identify. "Wait, you didn't happen to have bumped into a girl with red-"
"Red sunglasses with white flowers," I breathed. I remember that day very well. I couldn't believe this was happening and I was hoping Olivia wouldn't bring up who I was with at the time.
"Yes." She looks at me as though she has just solved some great puzzle. "Jordon I have seen you before, I knew it! You were the guy at the seminar that day," She smiles and swishes her wine around in the glass before taking another drink. "You know, I felt something strange when you bumped in to me,"
"Um you bumped in to me," I retorted.
"No, you bumped in to me because you weren't looking where you were going, and you knocked me down, AND I broke my heel,"
"Oh yeah," I laugh, "I remember you broke your shoe, but hey at least I helped you up and made sure you were okay,"
"Yeah I appreciated it, I had to walk barefoot back home though," she nodded her head.
"I don't know why I never got your name then," I pondered the thought, could I have met Olivia almost two years ago?
"Probably because that girl you were with was giving you the dirtiest look ever, and me too,"
Fuck. I was hoping she wouldn't bring her up.
"Yeah she was a real jealous type," is all I say. Wait, I stop and think to myself this is the first time I've said anything about her to anyone other than the guys. Well, that wasn't completely true, there were a couple of drunk one night stands where I got in my feelings but other than that, nothing.
"Who was she?" She asks me.
I guess I'm ready to finally talk.
"A-a bitch." Is all find myself needing to say.
Olivia polishes off her second glass the sets it down and puts a hand on the side of my face.
"But you loved her?"
"Very much," I looked down. "Her name was Jessie,"
"I see. Did Jessie break your heart?" She asks me softly. I had this feeling welling up inside of me, and as I looked into Olivia's eyes I feel like I could cry, but I don't. I can't. Not here.
So I all can stomach is another short worded reply. "Yes," I take the last drink from my glass as well and I hit the blunt one more time before giving it back to her, trying to calm myself "Fucking big time," I exhale the smoke.
"Uhhh, look I'm sorry if I brought up a sore subject Jordon, you don't need to say anything else if you don't want to," she takes her hand off of my face, she looks at me apologetically, then down.
"N-no it's fine, it's been almost a year, I knew she was bound to come up at some point," I grabbed her hand and looked into her beautiful eyes, then out at my city. And I had my second realization of the night; I don't have to lie anymore, it really was fine. What she put me through really hurt, like really fucking hurt but I'm ready to get over it and get back to being happy Jordon again. I'm ready to be me again.
"You know you can talk to me about stuff, I'm here for you," she breaks me out of my thought and puts a hand on my leg and I put mine on top of hers.
"Thank you, there's not much to talk about," smiled at her, there was actually a lot I could say but I didn't want to get on that subject any further. I was finally having a good night and I was done with her ruining all my nights.
"Well... there's actually a lot I could talk about," I sneered at the thought of the things she put me through. "I'm not going to get into it for now," I said, "I'm having a great night with you and that is the last thing I want to think about. I really just want to think about this," I scoot over to her and wrap an arm around her waist, and put my other hand on the nape of her neck. Pulling her closer to me and I start kissing her, really kissing her. She kissed me back just as fiercely. I pulled back and smile at her "Another round?"
"Excuse me?" She looks at me, confused. Hitting her blunt.
"Of wine?" I tell her. Someone's dirty minded.
"Oh yeah, of course!" She giggles. "Silly me I thought you meant something else,"
"Well we could do that too," I pick up the bottle and pour us both glasses. She hands me the blunt to hit it and I do.
"I'm down," she gives me a wicked smile. "You can finish that and flick the roach. Number two?" She looks at me and grins.
"Yeah!" I think I'm in love. I smile at her.
"Okay," she pulls another blunt out of the pouch and she hands me my lighter and the blunt, "Here, spark it up," she smiles.
"Thanks!" I put the blunt in my mouth and light it up, coughing as I pull it away from my lips. I hit it a couple of times and hand it back to her.
"Thank you," she says with a crooked smile. I could tell she was thinking about something.
"So you said you felt something... strange when I bumped into you?" I ask her.
"Oh," she goes to talk, but closes her mouth and swallows the rice she had in there, "Yeah, it was like when you bumped into me," she emphasizes the word 'you', I laugh and roll my eyes. She hits the blunt and passes it back to me.
"I felt something after you helped me up, I don't know, it felt like... a missed connection,"
"Hmm." I say, a missed connection... I hit the blunt hard and cough.
"Yeah, I mean I thought about it for a week or so, even had dreams about meeting you again, I went to my psychic and she said it means that I may I have known you from a past life." I hand her the blunt "thank you," she smiles, putting it to her lips and pulling. I got butterflies from the thought of this lovely girl dreaming of me. Plain old me. What's happening to me?
"Maybe we were meant to meet and fall in love again she said. I believed it, because I could feel something the moment I laid my eyes on you." This made me smile because I felt the exact same about this girl a couple of weeks ago.
"I asked her how that could be since I just ran into and I had no I idea who you were, how and when I would meet you again. She said she couldn't see it because... Ugh what did she say!?" She struggled to remember. "Because... Because wheels hadn't been set in motion!" She said this as though she had just figured out something huge, her eyes grew wide. "This is what she meant a month ago when she said wheels are being set into motion,"
YIKES, a month ago was when decided to target Olivia, an unknown girl to us at the time, as our kidnapee, I guess you could say. This psychic must be for real.
"Wait wait wait you have your own psychic?"
"Well, she's not my like personal psychic, I've just been going to her since I was like 14, Madame ZuLa." She laughed and hit the blunt again.
"Madame. ZuLa." I said, before laughing my ass off, "Do you really believe that stuff?"
"A-are you making fun of me?" She stammers.
"No, I'm just asking," I assure her.
"Well, yeah I do, her predictions are usually spot on. And Madame ZuLa did say a couple weeks ago that a major change was going to happen in my life, and she wasn't wrong," she leans into me and gives me the blunt.
"That's crazy," I take a hit off the blunt and ponder the thought that maybe me meeting Olivia was all predetermined from the beginning. Maybe the beginning of time? Like maybe we did know one another from a past life.
She goes back to her normal sitting position. "Oh man you haven't even heard some of the other things she's predicted, sometimes it's scary accurate, she predicted one of my mom's overdoses a couple of years ago. And as bad as it may sound," she looks down, her hair falling into her face. "I didn't even try and prevent it, I just maybe hoped she was right about the overdose and maybe this time my mom might have an epiphany or something and maybe she'd stop doing this to herself."
She looks back at me, tears swelling in her eyes, "But she didn't, she won't. She's gonna kill herself one day Jordon," she begins crying and she shakes her head, looking back away from me. I grab her chin gently and make her look at me "Sorry, I didn't mean to-" I kiss her, cutting her off.
"Thank you baby," she says with tears in her eyes when our lips break apart and our foreheads meet.
"Anytime," I smile and bring my hand to her face, using my thumb to wipe a tear off her face. "Here take this," I give her the blunt, "More wine?" I ask, glancing at her empty glass.
"Yes," she laughs, wiping her eyes and she turns around to grab her glass and hands it to me. I pour her another glass and she takes a hit of the blunt and a drink. She exhales "woo that's good," she exclaims. "You're the best,"
"You're the best," I beam at her and take a drink of my wine and smile. I was truly having a good day, nothing could ruin this for me. Not even her. Not nothing. Suddenly my phone rings and I pull it out of my pocket, it's Johnny. I stare at my phone for a few seconds, but decide to decline it.
Meanwhile...
"He didn't answer," an annoyed George says to the stylishly dressed girl standing in the middle of their living room doorway. The guys all sat on the couches in the living room, George and Jorel sat on the one closest to the kitchen, and Matt and Dylan on the one in front of the TV.
She rolled her eyes and pursed her shiny red lips, "Well you'll just have to give me his new number since he went and changed it,"
Some of the guys in the room scoffed. "Yeah... No, not happening. Sorry Jess," George says.
"He doesn't want to see you or talk to you," Matt chimed in.
"And even if he did, we wouldn't let him," Dylan adds.
"Mmhmm," Jorel nods, as do Matt and Dylan.
"Geez, you guys are being so cold," she frowns, her left hand rested on her hip. "I thought we all liked each other,"
"We did until you hurt our best friend," said Dylan.
"Yeah, you didn't have to see him like we did when you pulled all your bullshit," Jorel, who you could probably say is one of the nicest guys ever, shot the girl a surprisingly hateful look.
"I don't like you," Matt enunciates.
"Look," she rolls her eyes again "When is Jordon gonna be back, I really need to talk to him," she pushes a blonde piece of hair out of her face. "It's... important,"
"We have no clue, he's with Olivia-" George starts.
"Who?" A look mixed with curiosity and what could have been hate came over her face.
"His girlfriend, Olivia," Jorel rolls his eyes, obviously annoyed. He didn't like Jessie. He never did, he always had the feeling she was going to do Jordon wrong, and he was right about that. "Did you think he was gonna wait around forever?"
"Yeah, Jordon's happy now, got him a nice lady," Dylan adds.
"I see," the girl looked genuinely bummed. "Well, since he isn't here, I guess I should be leaving, would you just tell him that I came by to see him, and maybe have him call me,"
The four guys exchanged looks, "Sure we can," George says.
"Thanks guys," she smiles, turns and leaves the house. They hear her car start from outside and then pull off. But she had something else in mind.
"So we're not gonna tell Jordon to call her are we?" Matt asks.
"Nope," Jorel and George say almost simultaneously.
"I think it will just complicate things, her trying to come back in his life, if that's what she's doing," says Matt.
"Definitely and we just got out best friend back! I'm not letting her destroy him again," George says. They all agree then they go back to what they were doing, drinking and watching baseball.
Back at Crescent point...
"It was Johnny, he was probably just calling to talk about the game," I explain to her.
"Why didn't you answer?" She looks puzzled.
"I'm really focused on this right now," I looked at her lustfully. As the second blunt was about done I was feeling pretty high right now. And I was also feeling pretty horny... Maybe it was just the weed and booze, maybe it was just the fact that my girlfriend looked smoking hot. I lean into her and brush her hair away from her neck and grab the opposite side of her face, and begin kissing her neck and I bite down. She turns her body towards me.
"Mmmm Jordon what're you doin?" She moaned and tilted her head back, giving me more room to start sucking on her neck. I could feel her breaths growing faster, she put her hands above the nape of my neck and began playing with and pulling my hair.
I put my lips to her ear "I want you," was all that I said.
"You can have me," she whispered back. Then she leans forward and whispers something in my ear that I was more that happy to oblige to.
"Let's get the fuck out of here then," I smile, trying to control my breathing.
"What about your car?" She asks, looking over at it.
"Too small," I say. "And uncomfortable, I need more room,"
"Ah. Let's go then," she picks the mostly smoked blunt off the rock and slides it back down into the pouch (I guess she put it out at some point), "We'll save the third one for later," she puts the pouch in her purse
"Sounds like a plan," I put the cork back in the bottle and we finished our glasses and I grabbed them.
She closes her Chinese food box and stands up "Ugh I'm so full," she groans.
"Yeah you're gonna be full." I laugh. As we walk to throw our food away in the trash.
"What?" She says, apparently not catching what I said.
"What?" I say back. She just laughs and shakes her head.
We headed for my car hand in hand. I put the glasses and the wine in the backseat. Then I get in the car and I turn to look at Olivia, I am met by her lips. "Let's go baby," she says.
"Alright m'lady," I say, I put the car in gear and begin making my way back to the city.
