Area-A(Undisclosed): Mère's house

Aile yawned as she hugged her pillow closer to herself. Looking up to the clock in the room she grimaced when she noticed the time. It was several hours after her bedtime, and she was starting to lose the battle with sleep. However, she quickly shook her head to wake herself up once more.

She made a promise with Prairie after all.

She told Aile that she had something to show her, a tradition she heard about during her days in the resistance. So this left Aile with a strange mix of emotions, she was exhausted, but at the same time she was excited. Looking up to the clock once more she wiggled in anticipation for what Prairie wanted to show her.

And she didn't have to wait long, for there knocking suddenly coming from the door.

Jumping up Aile hurried to the front door and quickly swung it open. Standing on the porch was Prairie covered in a coat that seemed a bit too large for her, and snow. Prairie then gave Aile one look before pushing her back inside. After she shut the door she turned and raised an eyebrow at Aile's attire.

"You can't tell me you aren't cold in that."

"No. Should I be?"

Prairie sighed as she again examined Aile, the girl was wearing shorts and a sports bra, and seemingly nothing else. Looking out of the window, and seeing the snow piled up outside the house caused her to sigh. Turning back to Aile however caused her to smile, Aile was bouncing up and down with barely contained excitement.

"Well, anyway, are you ready?"

"Yes!"

Prairie quickly covered Aile's mouth as she put a finger to hers. She didn't want to wake anyone else that could have been in the house. She then slowly lowered the hand covering Aile's mouth and motioned to the coat rack.

"Get dressed in something warm and come outside, it's going to be a bit of a walk."

Feeling like she was about to burst, Aile quickly complied with Prairie's command.

Aile exhaled a large plume of smoke as Prairie led through Area A by the hand. The two had been mostly silent during the walk, mostly due to a request from Prairie. So the only sounds Aile could hear was their combined breathing and the crunch of the snow under their feet. Looking up to the sky Aile broke out into a smile as she noticed the full moon above their heads. Giggling she returned her attention to Prairie and her smile got warmer.

"How much further?"

"Just about there, be patient."

"Aw, but I hate waiting."

Now it was Prairie's turn to giggle as she turned around a tree, following her makeshift map from memory. She had this planned out for several months, and as much as Aile would hate it, she would have to wait a bit longer. Looking up she quickly spotted a hill in the distance and knew that it was her end goal.

Turning to Aile she pointed up to the hill.

"See Aile? Almost there."

Aile nodded and the two quickly reached the hill, and after some coaxing Aile that it wasn't too high up, they began scaling it.

As they reached the top Prairie swallowed the lump in her throat as she led Aile to a large tree. Reaching the spot she had picked out she turned to Aile after she calmed herself. However she quickly noted that Aile was looking out into the forest, seemingly mesmerized. Following her gaze Prairie found the breathtaking site unfold before her.

Everything was covered in white, and the shadows of the trees seemed to stretch out to the ends of the earth. And at the center of it all was a massive lake that reflected the light from the moon and stars.

Smiling, Prairie finally realized that this would be the best time to do what she had planned. Turning to Aile she gave the girl a smile as she put her hands on Aile's shoulders.

"Okay, ready for the surprise?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, then sit on your knees."

Aile complied with Prairie and quickly sat in the snow, followed by Prairie. The girl then slowly reached into her coat and pulled a box. Opening it she gently pulled out a crown of white flowers. Aile's eyes widened in excitement as Prairie slowly placed it on the girl's head.

"Flowers?"

"No, they're just part of what I want to do. Now, you take the second one and place it on my head."

Nodding Aile reached into the box and pulled out the second crown. She then hurriedly placed it onto Prairie's head, when she lowered her hands Prairie inhaled deeply. She then reached into her coat and pulled out a small white candle and a match. As she went to light the candle, Prairie noted her hands were shaking out of nervousness, but she ignored it as she completed her task.

She then cupped the candle in her hands and held it out to Aile. The girl watched the flame dance as Prairie began speaking.

"Aile, do you truly love me?"

Her sudden question caused Aile's attention to snap towards her, a worried look taking over her features.

"Yes, did I do something wrong?"

"No," Prairie giggled; "but to do this, both people need to have unwavering love for each other."

"Well, I love you with all of my heart, I promise!"

"Good...now place your hands around mine."

Aile looked back to the candle and slowly did as Prairie told her. When her hands were on Prairie's the pink clad girl smiled at the warmth. Looking up to Aile she nodded.

"Alright Aile, do you promise to stay with me forever?"

"Yes, I don't want to leave you!"

"Then do you promise to share in the warmth and happiness that is this love with me?"

"Yes."

"Then Aile, as this candle as a bridge, let our hearts join as one forever."

Prairie then leaned towards Aile, who quickly realized what Prairie wanted. The two then met in a blissful kiss that sent warmth throughout both of their bodies.

The stars and moon the only audience for the newly crowned Brides of Snow.

Another chapter complete, I hope you enjoyed!

World: Trials of the Chosen

Contributor: N/A

Plot: Prairie has something she wants to do with Aile during the holidays.

So, this is how they get engaged canonically in Trials now. It is just so adorable when I picture them in the snow like this.

The crowns they were wearing are made of a flower called a Snowdrop.

There is a song called 'Monochrome in the Night' and I found myself listening to that song on repeat when writing this. It fits somewhat in my opinion.

Again, I hope you enjoyed.

Have a nice day!
