Book universe only: Because I just watched The End today and I thought of this idea. Other people have done this I know, but I wanted to try it myself. Begin!

~Normal POV

"Did you find anything?"

"Nothing that would be of any kind of use."

Violet sighed, "It seems all the most interesting items might have already been taken."

"Maybe," Klaus replied.

"I don't want to rock the boat, but I miss my inventions."

"And I miss reading. The only thing I've had to read since we got here is my own notebook."

Sunny looked up at her siblings sadly and said, "Quagmires..."

Violet and Klaus shared her sad look. "Yeah we miss them too..." Klaus replied softly.

"If only they were here," Violet said, "Then maybe this island would feel more like a home."

Klaus nodded, "Duncan and Isadora were the only people who truly made us feel at home."

"Books," Sunny said quizzically getting her siblings' attention.

"That's not what I said at all, Sunny," Klaus replied looking confused.

"No, look books!" Sunny pointed across the coastal shelf they were standing on.

Violet and Klaus followed their sister over to a huge cube of what looked like a combination of everything the Baudelaires missed. It was a massive pile of books, tied together with some kind of invention, and on top of it looked to be an unconscious woman.

"She has a V.F.D. tattoo on her ankle," Violet noted, "And I think she's alive."

The three carefully climbed onto the makeshift book raft to find something even more surprising: the woman was Kit Snicket and she was not alone. There were two other sleeping people on the raft with her. And the Baudelaires' faces lit up at the sight of two wonderful people they never thought they'd see again.

"Duncan!"

"Isadora!"

The journalist and the poet were unconscious, but very much alive. They could tell from their steady breathing. But since Kit was pregnant they decided to check on her first. The older woman looked injured; her ankle was bent at an awkward angle as if it had been twisted recently. Duncan and Isadora looked relatively unscathed, but they did seem exhausted from their long journey. The Baudelaires gently shook their friends to wake them. After several tense moments, Duncan's eyes fluttered open first.

He glanced around tiredly before his gaze rested on Violet, "I must be dreaming... and if I am don't wake me up..."

Violet felt a few tears of joy sting her eyes. It felt so good to hear his voice again; to see his amazing green eyes again, to see him again.

She leaned down and gave him a tight hug and whispered, "You're not dreaming. We're really here."

Duncan sat up slightly and wrapped his arms around her. The two didn't say anything for several moments. They were just savoring the feeling of being in each other's presence again. Klaus smiled at the scene and then proceeded to crawl over to Isadora to wake her. Isadora groaned when he shook her and even batted his hand away.

"Five more minutes..." She grumbled softly.

Klaus chuckled, "Izzie, get up it's me."

Her brown eyes opened a tiny bit, and she squinted at the overly bright sunlight, but she eventually turned her eyes to him.

"Klaus...? Is that you?"

Klaus moved his glasses slightly to wipe away his tears of joy, "Yeah I-" He was interrupted by Isadora grabbing him in a fiercely tight embrace.

"I thought I'd never see you again," The poet spoke her soft confession into his ear.

"I thought I'd never see you again..." Klaus replied quietly.

Once the two let go of each other, Violet hugged Isadora and Klaus hugged Duncan. The two triplets gave Sunny tight hugs as well before they finally thought to ask what had happened.

"The home was attacked by eagles. Quigley managed to get there in time to stop them, but the home was damaged beyond repair. It crashed into the ocean next to a submarine," Duncan explained.

"A submarine," Violet said quizzically, "What was it called?"

"The Queequeg," Isadora answered, "We boarded it and met the crew, and Kit was with them on their V.F.D. mission. The ship was damaged a lot. We were told it could be repaired, especially since Hector is good with tools, but Kit built a raft out of these books and Quigley... he forced us to go with her and stayed on the submarine with everyone else to help them."

"That was very brave of him to do that for you," Violet said, "Did he say why?"

Duncan smiled, "When Kit said she was going to try to find you; Quigley said he wanted us to be with you guys because he knew we'd be safe with you. I seem to recall he promised you he would help us all be together again."

Violet smiled at him in return, "He did promise us that. Are you two ok?"

"We're fine, a little roughed up from the storm maybe and we're pretty hungry but other than that we're fine," Isadora said laughing lightly.

"Well... I wish I could say we're safe here but we're not," Klaus said, "At least not entirely."

The Baudelaires quickly explained exactly why living here was now very dangerous after all...

~Time passes...

"Don't shoot him!"

The diving helmet split open infecting everyone on the island with the dreaded Medusoid Mycelium, including the Baudelaires, the Quagmires, and even poor Kit; who was still resting on the coastal shelf waiting for help. The five children had no other option than to go to the Arboretum to look for a cure. They searched the secret book that was left behind by Bertrand and Beatrice until finding the answer to their problems. Unfortunately, the poison in their bodies had spread too far. They collapsed and waited for the mycelium to finish them off. But while they did, and they didn't notice a very friendly snake creeping over to help them with a cure, they shared a conversation that they hadn't been able to have before now. As was often the case when one thinks they might perish, one feels the need to clear their mind before they pass.

Duncan was lying on the floor next to Violet, "Violet..." He choked out softly, barely able to breathe, "If we're going to die here today... I have something to ask you... Did you really not see anything in that red herring statue in the village?"

Violet coughed harshly before smiling faintly at him, "Actually, I did... I saw you carved our initials into it... I didn't want to say anything because it wasn't a good time... I wanted to make sure we were safe first... I feel the same way Duncan..."

Duncan returned her smile and weakly grabbed her hand. They quietly accepted their fate and didn't even hear Klaus and Isadora having a very similar conversation beside them.

"Isadora... if we're going to die here... could you tell me something please," Klaus paused to cough before continuing, "When you kissed me that night at Prufrock... Why?"

Isadora grabbed his hand and smiled at him, "Wasn't it obvious? I have feelings for you..." She coughed, "I wanted you to stay so badly... that I put my life on the line for you that night... I don't even care that I got kidnapped... All that mattered was that you and your family were safe... and you came for us."

"Of course I did, Izzie... I have feelings for you too... I wish I had told you sooner..."

Of course it didn't end up mattering that they had these conversations because Sunny eagerly handed them the horseradish apple that was brought to them by the Incredibly Deadly Viper. Once each of the orphans had cured themselves they all embraced happily. Sunny hugged the Incredibly Deadly Viper and covered the snake with kisses to thank him for the help.

"We're going to live!"

"It's like a miracle!"

Klaus hugged Isadora tightly, "I meant every word, Izzie. I can't live without you."

"And I can't live without you, Klaus."

Violet hugged Duncan and softly asked him, "Together, my dear journalist?"

"To the end, my lovely inventor," Duncan replied just low enough to where only she would hear.

However, once the children gathered up a basket of apples to go cure the islanders they found that Ishmael had showed his true cruel nature and forced the other islanders to abandon their home on the false promise of being able to cure themselves elsewhere. Nonetheless, Sunny watched in slight sadness as the Incredibly Deadly Viper swam away to the boat hoping to bring the islanders a cure himself. The youngest Baudelaire was sad to see her friend go after just being reunited with him but she was happy that he left for such a noble task.

Even then they had bigger problems to worry about since Kit had gone into labor. She insisted on not taking an apple, as they were harmful to unborn babies, choosing instead to die for her child rather than save herself. Count Olaf even surprised the children by helping Kit get to shore. It was the one truly good deed that they would ever see Olaf perform as he died from his harpoon wound shortly after speaking to Kit one last time. It appeared the two of them had a history far more complicated than the children would ever know.

And Kit Snicket, the brave volunteer who had helped them all be together, died giving birth to her daughter at sundown.

While the Baudelaires and two of the Quagmire triplets were now living alone together on the island, they had no other option than to give Kit's daughter the care that she needed. It would be another year before the tides would let them sail to whatever home they could think of, and they had each other while they waited and made this place their happy new home. The five of them would take turns taking care of little Beatrice Jr. in shifts.

Sunny would often laugh when it was her turn because she knew for a fact that her older siblings would go to other parts of the island with their loves and spend "quality alone time" together. Not that the young girl minded these things, she just found it amusing when Violet and Duncan would come back to the Arboretum tree house after these incidents. Duncan's hair would be a mess and Violet would sometimes have to hide strange purple marks on her neck. Sunny wasn't quite old enough to understand exactly what those marks were, but she could tell the two had been kissing and that was all she needed to know.

Violet explained to Duncan that the reason Quigley promised to help them be together was because she turned down his offer for a romantic relationship. Quigley wanted to show his respect for her as a friend. Duncan was hurt at first that his brother had attempted to take the woman he was in love with, but he later realized that it didn't matter because she chose him.

On nights when it was someone else's turn to watch the baby, Klaus and Isadora would sneak out for moonlit walks on the beach. Isadora didn't think their island home was entirely a paradise, but it was certainly a romantic place for her and her handsome researcher when they wanted to spend their own "quality alone time" together.

Klaus explained to Isadora that a crew-member of the Queequeg named Fiona had kissed him before going to work with her brother. He had no feelings for Fiona Widdershins, and he only ever wanted to be with Isadora he even told her this; Fiona even still let them escape in her submarine, without trying to harm them. Klaus assured Isadora that, "She was the only woman for him, forever." Isadora, having met Fiona on the Queequeg after boarding it, told him that she already knew this happened and Fiona regrets doing it. She even mentioned that the mycologist apologized to her for her misguided actions. Isadora was rather humbled by her honesty; in Fiona's own words, "Klaus deserves a girl like you." Klaus and Isadora never had to say another word on the subject; the past was in the past.

Duncan wasn't entirely approving of finding his sister and his best friend trying to sneak back into the house undetected after their late nights out together, but eventually he got used to seeing them as a couple. He even stopped objecting to them kissing in front of him... it took him a while though.

He had switched to saying, "Maybe we just shouldn't show affection in front of the baby..."

Sunny wholeheartedly agreed, "You're going to give the poor girl nightmares with how much you guys suck face with each other."

"Sunny!"

The young girl shrugged, "Well it's true!"

But a peaceful year passed as they knew it would, and Violet repaired the boat that had dropped them here in the first place. They gathered whatever supplies they would need and took the one chance they had to get back to civilization.

They did eventually reach the sands of Briny Beach and integrated themselves back into normal society. Not long after reaching land, they even found Quigley again, who had been working and living on the Queequeg for the past year, and was now working elsewhere with his fellow cartographers, and was in a relationship with Fiona. He traveled around a lot now, but he would always be sure to come back to his siblings and his friends. It was enough for Duncan and Isadora just to know that their dear brother was alive, even if he had to be away often for his work. He was even happy to help take care of little Beatrice when the others were busy with their own new jobs, or if his siblings were going out for date nights with their inventor and researcher significant others. Quigley had not known Kit Snicket for very long, but he knew she had been a very noble woman worth fighting for.

They were a family now. A family of young people who had a lot of misfortune in their lives, but had managed to find each other and bring themselves up to a happier life; and it was going to stay that way for a very long time.

~The End!

I cried when I watched The End, and I had to do this idea. See ya!
