The next day, she was taken to the lot before her dad headed off to handle some business. She was there with Gemma when the guys left. Piney was leaned against the bay door. He looked grumpier than usual. She watched him. She was staying with Gemma that night. She had been avoiding Tara for a few days now. She wasn't in the mood to deal with all the Jax drama. She had other things to focus on especially since her dad was headed to Arizona. She sighed. He called her whenever they stopped to let her know that he was ok and things were going good. She sighed.
"You ok baby?" Gemma asked her.
"That seems to be something everyone keeps asking everyone lately, doesn't it?" she asked.
"Yeah it does, doesn't it?"
Jocelyn looked at her. They sighed at the same time. Jocelyn giggled. Gemma just shook her head. They headed back to the house late that night after they locked up. Gemma stopped and got them both something for dinner. Jocelyn ate and headed to her typical room when she stayed with Gemma.
"Hey kid, what you want to do tonight?" Gemma asked.
"Movie night?" Jocelyn asked.
They did just that. The next morning, Jocelyn went with Gemma to the flower shop in town. She was trying to figure out what was going on with her flowers. Chucky was with them. Gemma was discussing the gardens with Rita. Jocelyn was sent back out to the car with Chucky. She sat in the back seat waiting on Gemma to come out of the shop.
"Missing your dad?" Chucky asked.
"Nah, I'm used to him being gone by now. It was bad when I was younger. Now I just worry about him," Jocelyn said.
"Yeah?"
"I know he isn't always doing legal stuff, hence why he ended up in prison"
Chucky nodded. Jocelyn wondered what he was up to in Tucson right now. She was glad that he didn't bring any of the girl's home that she knew he messed with at the club. She wondered where Lyndsey had ended up. The girl hadn't come around in the last two years. Just another female who had abandoned her. She sighed. Gemma came out to the car. They headed back to the shop. Jocelyn went into the office to grab the list of repos that came in while they were gone and set two of the guys on them. She went over the invoices that had been turned in while they were gone. Gemma was off doing her own thing. Jocelyn didn't really need help in the office anymore. Even at fifteen she was doing just fine running the business. Gemma was real proud of the young woman that Jocelyn was becoming. She smiled. Jocelyn had quite the attitude as well which made Gemma even more proud of her.
"Hey kid, I'll be back in a little bit," Gemma said.
"Fine," Jocelyn replied.
She watched her pull off the lot with Chucky with her. He was Gemma's own little errand boy lately.
"Hey, Joe, you get to run and get lunch today," Jocelyn yelled.
"I don't take orders from you," the guy yelled.
"Dog, deal with him,"
Dog turned to the guy and forced him to go to the diner to get lunches. Gemma called to tell her that Piney was being admitted to the hospital so she was going to be a bit longer than expected. Jocelyn told her she had already gotten someone to deal with the lunch order and to take all the time she needed to take.
"Tell Piney, I love him," Jocelyn said.
"I will sweetheart," Gemma replied.
Jocelyn hung up the phone. She went to let Dog know what had happened with Piney. She got back to work. Gemma showed back up at the lot later that afternoon. Jocelyn was busy entering paperwork into the computer. She was glad that she had been able to get Gemma to get a new system while the guys were in prison. She knew that Juice had approved when he had finally come home and been able to check it out. The system was simple but effective.
"When are they back?" Jocelyn asked, Gemma.
"Tomorrow," Gemma told her.
"All right."
"Missing him?"
"I'm used to it by now. Just wondering,"
"It's all right baby. You're supposed to miss your dad when he's gone,"
Jocelyn nodded. She turned back to the computer. She sighed. She had no idea what was going on with the club but something felt off. She hated the way it felt and there was only one person she would talk to about it and he wasn't there either. She didn't go to her dad with most of her fears. She went to Happy to talk. She was one of the only people who could actually get him to talk to her.
The guys were home the next day. Jocelyn bit the inside of her cheek. She wasn't going to go running to her dad like she did when she was little. She was too old for all that now but she was glad that he was home in one piece. She sighed. They were ready to head home. She went to her dad's bike as he moved closer to it so they could go home. She headed up to her room.
"Jocelyn," he called.
"What?" she asked.
"You ok?"
"Yeah I just missed my bed,"
"Happy should be back in town later this week. He's gonna be coming by to see you,"
"Good."
She went to change into sweats and a tank top before going back down to make dinner for her and her dad. They had a calm evening at home.
"Dad," Jocelyn said.
"What?" he asked.
"Why does everyone leave me?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well my mom left me on your doorstep as an infant, my sister hates me, Lyndsey left, the crow eaters are rude,"
"Jocelyn, everyone hasn't left you. The important people will always be around. Me, Gemma, Clay, Jax, Opie, Hap, the rest of the guys at the club. We won't leave you."
"Daddy, you can't promise me that. You guys have no idea what's going to happen from day to day. I know you guys do things that can get you killed. I've been around for some of that. I've been shot at a few times myself. It's dangerous."
"What are you trying to say?"
"I just worry that you guys won't come home one day,"
"Jocelyn Cecelia Trager, I promise you that I will do everything in my power to come home to you every single time. I know things aren't easy. I know we have been through hell."
She sighed but nodded. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her. She wrapped her arms around her father's neck. He kissed her cheek.
"I love you baby girl," he said.
"I love you too," she replied.
The next day, Clay called church by noon. Jocelyn was in the shop and her father headed over to the clubhouse. She sighed. They were all in there talking. She watched the door waiting for someone to come out of it.
"Hey little miss, you want to go to lunch?" Tig asked.
"Sure," she grinned.
He took her down to the diner. She smiled. He was trying to ease her mind a little bit with everything that had gone on. He still hadn't gone into what she had seen over in Belfast. He had heard that something had happened while she was there but she refused to talk about it.
"Baby girl," he said.
She glanced up from her chicken fingers.
"What happened over there?" he asked.
"Nothing, daddy. It's all right. I promise," she said.
"You sure?"
"Yes, daddy. I am sure."
He nodded. They ate in silence. Then they headed back to the clubhouse. Tig started working in the garage and she went into the office. Clay walked in. Jocelyn shot out of there so he could talk to Gemma. She saw her dad standing by his bike. She sighed.
"What's up?" he asked.
"Nothing, Clay wanted to talk to Gemma," she said.
"All right."
She leaned back against the railing. She sighed again. She wondered what they were talking about but didn't want to sneak around to find out. She was terrified of Clay now. He wasn't the same man he was when she was younger. She had figured that out after he had Donna killed. She hadn't told her dad how she felt about him. She hadn't even told Happy about it. She kept it completely to herself.
"Jocelyn," Gemma called.
Jocelyn jogged back over to the office. Gemma smiled.
"I gotta make a run. You hold down the fort ok?" Gemma asked.
"Yeah ok," Jocelyn smiled.
She walked into the office. Gemma disappeared to the SUV. She sighed. Jocelyn was working on paperwork. She was busy all afternoon. They were slammed all of a sudden.
"Dog, I need that paperwork," she yelled.
"Got it, kiddo," Dog replied.
She nodded, her thanks when he handed it to her. She started in on it. Things were chaotic around there today. She was glad when the day was over. She was exhausted. She wound up crashing in a back room, in dire need of a nap. She hadn't been sleeping real well lately.
"Jocelyn," someone called waking her up.
"Jesus, what?" she asked.
She sat up and rubbed her face. She got up and walked out to the main room of the clubhouse.
"What?" she asked again.
"Where's the keys for the Escalade?" Dog asked.
"Shit,"
She followed him out to the garage and found the keys. It was late when her father finally came back to the garage. She watched him go straight to the bar. She rolled her eyes.
"Take it we're staying here tonight?" she asked.
He glanced at her and nodded. She rolled her eyes and headed back down to the dorm room she had been sleeping in earlier that day. She sighed. She could hear moans and groans from down the hall and ignored it. She put the pillow over her head and reached to turn on the radio to drown them out. She didn't want to hear it so she tried to go to sleep.
