Chapter 38

"You won't win Laura, no matter how hard you try," I said with such fury the ground trembled. "If you want a fight, it will be with me, leave my family out of it." I took a step away from Pogue. He had one hand on the small of my back and the other on my waist.

"The only way to defeat me and save your pathetic family is to embrace your dark power," she retorted with venom. "But with all the power you have in your possession, your mind is starting to deteriorate." I felt Pogue's hands tighten on my waist.

I could see my Tio and Uncles move in front of my Aunts and the girls. Gregory was making his way next to Reid. The guys were moving into defensive mode.

"You don't scare me," I replied angrily.

"You know you can't last much longer," she said with a mocking tone.

"What is she talking about?" Caleb asked as he touched the shield. "Sam," he barked as he looked at me. I pushed my power out trying to find Renée, the woman who was with Laura when the guys saved me from Liam.

"Caleb, the more power Samantha possesses the more likely it will begin to affect her physically," Gramps explained. The guys turned towards me. Pogue pulled me back until I was against him. "I need you boys to concentrate and stay focused." He patted Caleb on the back. "You can argue with Samantha later." Gregory and Reid made their way next to me. "Samantha," Gramps touched my arm. "As long as your heart is strong, you are in control." I nodded as he let my arm go. I continued to search for Renée.

"Baby Girl when this over," Reid hissed. "We're going to have a serious talk about your lack of communication skills." He was projecting his angry at me. I flicked my wrist and sent the projection back to him. He growled and shook his head.

"After this is over Bubba," I moved my hand towards the shield and an energy line connected. "I might not remember any of this." Pogue pulled me closer. Reid I need you and Gregory to stop yelling at me and help.

"That's not funny Sam," Tyler snapped. He gave me a dirty look but I ignored him. We can fight later…I hope. Gregory tapped my shoulder. I need everyone to hold hands and make sure one of you is touching me. I only have one shot at this and it's going to take a lot of energy and concentration.

"I need everyone to stay still," I stated in a commanding tone. I felt Ashley take a step towards Gregory. I looked in her direction. "Don't move," I snapped at her harshly. I closed my eyes taking a deep steady breath. As I let my breath out slowly the other three women with Laura came into focus. They all seemed to have their own agenda. But they do agree on one thing…power. They were just biding their time. My control was slipping a little.

"All you're doing is avoiding the inevitable," Laura announced sarcastically.

"Carla, Dominique and Patricia don't seem to share the same views as you," I moved my other hand towards the shield and an energy line appeared. I stepped away from Pogue but he followed. I turned to look at him. "Trust me," I whispered. He was reluctant to move back until Reid and Gregory each put a hand on his shoulders. I turned to face Laura as my hand followed the shield while the other was pointed at her and her friends.

"You don't know us," Patricia shouted taking a step towards the shield. Her dark black hair was pulled back in a braid. Her huge black eyes stood out against her small face. There were all dressed the same in black jeans and black blouses that were buttoned all the way up.

"I know that Carla thinks she can get past my shield," I answered pulling my hands towards me slowly. The energy from the shield was increasing. Carla took a step away from Patricia and Dominique. Her light blonde hair was pulled into a bun. She took a step closer to Laura and began to whisper.

"Samantha, we don't have much time," Gramps whispered. He was watching the energy I was pulling towards me.

"Much time for what," Caleb was next to Gramps trying to move closer to me. Not now big brother. Tyler gave me a look. That includes you too.

"I just need a few more seconds," I replied back. Reid and Gregory make sure everyone in connected to me. They nodded and quickly moved over to the girls and parents. I felt Pogue's hand on my waist. Dominique didn't like when Reid moved back to my side.

"They're up to something Laura," her red hair began to move around her face as she pulled her power into an energy ball. Laura barely turned when Dominique threw the energy ball at my shield. She screamed in frustration as I smiled. The shield absorbed her energy ball instead of deflecting it.

"Reid," I shouted as I took a step between Laura and my family.

"Now," he yelled. Everyone was holding hands.

Laura looked around and smiled. I pushed one arm out sending the energy I was collecting at her. I waited a second before pushing my other arm out as Renée appeared behind my Tio. I pulled the shield in and teleported everyone to the Colony House. I took a step away from Pogue and fell to my knees. I heard voices and feet moving but I was concentrating on pushing Laura's connection back.

"Don't touch me," I snapped when I felt Pogue's hand close to my shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Caleb moving around. "Stay where you are Caleb." He took a step back. I stood up and turned to face them. I knew my eyes were black before I heard my Tia and Aunts gasp. The guys took a step back except Pogue. He was watching my hands.

"Pull your power back Lil Bit," Pogue was standing in front of me. His eyes were black and his arms were away from his body with his palms facing me. Reid and Gregory were behind him. Both their eyes were black.

I opened my hand and a fire ball was swirling around on my palm. "Why?" I asked smiling. The ball of fire swirled around looking like a tornado. I moved my fingers as if I was squeezing a stress ball. The fire tornado got bigger.

I tried to block the dark power that was clearly in charge at the moment. My body took an involuntary step back. I pulled on my power and pushed the dark power back. The fire that was swirling in my hand disappeared. I pulled my power back. I could feel my eyes change back to their normal color. Pogue quickly cupped my face. We were looking into each other's eyes.

"Those are the eyes I love to look at," he rubbed his thumbs over my cheeks. I tensed up when I felt the dark power try to push forward. "Relax babe, you're in control." I took a deep breath and nodded. I closed my eyes and tried to relax.

"Reid, I was so scared," Ava cried. I opened my eyes to see Reid holding her.

"Sam," Caleb spoke my name softly as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I knew he was worried. Pogue kissed my forehead before walking away towards his parents. Sarah was hugging Aunt Evelyn. Tyler was a few steps behind Caleb.

"Are you okay?" Tyler asked. I pulled them both towards me and just held on to them. Tyler was rubbing my back while Caleb held my head against his chest.

"I'll be fine once all the parents, Gramps and the girls are safe," I replied. I pulled away to look at them. "We have to move fast. Laura is trying to locate me. I feel her pulling on her essence," they gave me a weird look. "Her power left an essence after I broke the bind she had on me." Maggie, my Tio and Tia were walking towards us. I could see Gregory and Ashley arguing.

"Where do you expect them to hide?" Tyler asked as my Tio gave me a hug. Tyler was hugging his mom and Maggie. I didn't get a chance to answer. My Tia pulled me into a tight hug.

"Sam," my Tia whispered before she began to cry. I looked at my Tio for help but he shook his head.

"Tia, I'm fine," I sighed which was probably the wrong thing to do. She pulled away from me with a look of motherly anger. I lowered my head for a moment. The look on her face reminded me of my mom. I felt her body shake with anger.

"Fine," she screeched. With everything that's happen, this was the straw that broke the camel's back or in this case, that broke my Tia's back. "It's not fine Samantha Marie Melina. You think I don't know that you have dark power trying to turn you dark." She was holding my shoulders tightly. I was too scared to move and completely impressed with my Tia. As an awe of her as I was she still intimidated me. I took a step back and Tyler wrapped his arms around me.

"Mom, you don't have to worry," Tyler said before I looked at him and shook my head.

"Stay quiet bro," I whispered. My Tia turned her full attention onto Tyler.

"Tyler Aidan Simms, don't tell me not to worry about my niece," her voice was louder than I had ever heard before. She had her hands on her hips.

My Tio took a step back. An image from the accident crossed her mind. My Tia tried to push it back. It was so vivid that I got a glimpse with using my power. She was glaring at Tyler as she struggled to forget the memories.

I stepped forward and grabbed my Tia's hands. "What did my mom tell you?" I asked a bit shocked as I got a flash of a memory from my Tia. My mom was holding my Tia's hand after the accident. She was thinking about that moment so hard, it felt like she was projecting.

"She…she," my Tia pulled our hands close to her chest. "She made me promise…," tears welled up in her eyes, "to keep you safe… as if…as if you were my own daughter." I stayed quiet for a moment. It scared her to know that the situation could have been different.

"You have kept me safe," I calmly said. She shook her head no. My throat was starting to hurt. I could feel a lump forming but I relaxed and concentrated on what I needed to do. "Yes, all of you have but now it's my turn." I kissed her hands and backed away.

"Sam," she cried. I gave her a smile.

"I love you, all of you. But I won't," my voice started to crack. I took a deep breath. "I can't allow my brothers or boyfriend to lose a parent." I created a shield. "I know what it's like to lose your parents. I won't let them feel that pain." Gramps walked over to me.

"You know what you need to do," Gramps whispered. I nodded. "Good. There is no turning back my dear. You only have one shot." I gave him a quick hug. I couldn't say anything. The lump in my throat was blocking me from talking. "Everything you need is downstairs. I look forward to seeing you soon." He walked into the shield and smiled.

"You can't do this alone," Tyler protested. The angry look on his face resembled Caleb's.

"Are you serious?" Pogue shouted. "What happen to being there for each other? Did you mean it or was it just talk?" his eyes were black as all the anger he was holding in projected on me.

"Short stuff, you know as your protector I go," he stopped talking when Reid hit him in the back of the head. "Sorry we go where ever you go." He was rubbing the back of his head.

"The shield isn't for you guys," I responded. I felt anger and frustration towards Pogue. I knew it wasn't me but it didn't matter my dark side was itching to strike out at him. "Sorry, I guess you really have no reason to trust me after everything that's happen." I took a step back when Pogue didn't stop projecting. We were staring at each other. "Are you done?" I hissed. I didn't bother to contain my power as my eyes changed to black.

"Knock it off," Gregory barked at Pogue. Reid hit Pogue in the back of the head before standing next to me.

"You're an idiot," Reid grumbled. Uncle Wayne stepped behind Pogue and whispered something.

Pogue smirked as his eyes went back to his normal color. "Do we understand each other now?" he asked in a smartass tone. I pulled my power back but not before I gut checked him with a low energy blast. His eyes got big before he dropped to one knee and gave me a dirty look.

"Crystal," I replied as my eyes flashed fire and went back to normal.

The chamber felt stale and bleak without Gramps. The stone seat of the Putnam line was usually unpleasant but with all the Putnam power coursing through me, I felt comfortable and connected to the line for the first time. I put my head in my hands as I listened and watched the guys talk upstairs. I tried not to but it wasn't something I could control at the moment.

"Do you think they'll be safe?" Tyler asked taking a seat. "We've never seen the place."

Reid was leaning against the fireplace. "Apparently Baby Girl had my dad and your dad put a protection spell around the place. She didn't want to know what they did or where the house was located." He ran his hand through his hair.

"Do you think she knew it would come to this?" Gregory asked gesturing around the room.

"Knowing Sam," Caleb said walking away from the window. "Yes, she knew and didn't want us to know." He didn't sound angry, just slightly irritated. He rubbed the back of his neck.

"Makes sense," Pogue sighed as he sat on the couch. "I can still feel her but the connection is fading." He crossed his arms over his chest sounding frustrated. "Anything we know, she knows. Which means Laura will know once the power starts to take over."

"She's not going dark," Tyler fumed. He got up and walked to the window. "Baby Girl is too strong." He ran his hand through his hair.

"I know that," Pogue growled. "But you know for a fact Lil Bit always prepares for the worst. I felt how it killed her to cut herself off from your parents. But she did it because she loves them." He let out a frustrated breath. "I think she's doing the same thing with me."

"How long do you think it will be before they attack?" Gregory asked looking out the window.

"They won't attack until they know where I am," I answered telepathically. The dark side was coming out. I tried to push it away but it felt like it was getting stronger.

"Pain in the ass," Reid muttered under his breath. I was looking through the Coven Book.

"It could be worse," Gregory added.

"What could be worse?" Tyler asked looking at Gregory.

"She could read all of our thoughts," Pogue suggested.

Reid coughed. "I forgot about that," he whispered. Images were passing through his mind.

"What did you say?" Caleb asked.

"I said that's fucking annoying," Reid said quickly as he tried to push the images out of his head.

"Not as annoying as this," I scoffed. I pulled a fantasy from Reid's perverted mind. I laughed at how uncomfortable he became when Pogue looked at him.

"Stop it Baby Girl," he scolded. He pushed the image out of his head.

"What was annoying?" Tyler asked looking around. I tried to push the dark power back but it intensified and began to pick images out of Reid's mind.

"You don't want to play with me?" I asked softly. I pulled an image of him walking in when I was changing. He smiled at the memory.

"Did she say anything or show anyone something?" Caleb looked at Pogue and Tyler.

"Enough," Reid yelled. "This isn't you." The memory faded away.

"Not to me," Gregory replied looking at Caleb then at Pogue.

"Okay, I'll behave," I pouted. I was almost able to push my power back when something made it surge forward. Random images and fantasy started moving around Reid's mind. A fantasy of us in bed played. Reid was moving my legs up by his head. It quickly changed to a fantasy of us outside in the rain against a tree. I tried to make them stop but nothing was working.

"Don't look at me," Pogue huffed. "She's probably still pissed off about earlier." He looked at Caleb and then they all looked at Reid's smiling face. "What the hell are you smiling about?" Pogue snapped.

Reid looked around and tried to hide his smile. "Nothing," he responded quickly. He pushed an image of us kissing after I lost our bet in pool. "I have to use the bathroom." He quickly ran out of the room. "Sorry Princess, I couldn't stop it."

"Sam," Tyler, Caleb and Gregory yelled my name. I looked up at the ceiling and closed my eyes.

"You called," I answered as I teleported upstairs. The three of them were staring at me angrily but Pogue looked out the window. I tried to push my power back again but it was having too much fun.

"It seems the dark part decided to come out and play," Gregory pointed out. I smirked as my eyes flashed fire before going back to black. I was trying to push it back but it was getting harder.

"Will you guys give us a moment," Pogue didn't bother to look away from the window.

I took a seat on the couch and waved bye to them with a big smile on my face as they walked by me. Tyler and Caleb looked like they wanted to kill me. Gregory shook his head but he had a smirk on his face. That wasn't a good sign. I put my feet up on the edge of the couch and looked up at the ceiling. The dark part of me didn't give a damn if Pogue was mad or not. But the good me did care. I was concentrating on pushing the dark part back when my body was slammed against the couch. I felt Pogue's full weight.

"That's gonna leave a mark," I choked out. My arms and hands were pinned above my head. Pogue was between my legs with his knees bent so I couldn't kick him.

"Push the power back," he hissed in my ear. His hot breath washed over my neck.

"No," I said in a frustrated voice. The dark power pushed forward. "Come on Pogo this could be fun," I whispered as I licked the edge of his ear. He moved his head away from me.

"Samantha," he shouted in my face. Our noses were touching. I closed my eyes and pulled on Chase's power to help push my dark power back. "You need to control it. We need to concentrate on getting rid of Laura and this extra power you have," he barked angrily.

"It's getting harder to control," I said out of breath. I blinked a couple of times. I knew my eyes were back to their normal color. He let go of my arms and hands. I covered my face and tried to pull myself together. I was frustrated with myself. I hated not having control of my emotions.

"I know," he grumbled as he got off of me. "I got a glimpse of Reid's mind." He was sitting on the edge of the couch holding his head. Damn it, I hate this power.

"I didn't plan…it just happen…I'm sorry," I stammered out. I got off the couch and walked to the stairs. "This whole thing is," I gestured to myself. When he looked at me, all I could see was the hurt in his eyes. "I should have everything ready before Laura discovers us." I turned to walk away.

"Lil Bit," he called out. I stopped on the steps but I couldn't face him. I was disgusted with myself. "I'll teleport you," he offered. I looked at him confused. "Your brothers are still downstairs. They're not happy with you right now." He walked over to the stairs and took my hand.

"I know how you feel," I responded. He chuckled.

"Are you reading my mind?" he asked lifting my chin.

I gave a weak smile. "Kind of hard not to," I answered holding onto his wrist. "As hard as I try to break our connection, I can't completely break it." He leaned his forehead against mine.

"I know you want to protect me," he whispered caressing my cheeks. "But if you love me, you need to stop." I could hear the frustration in his voice. "I already feel the pain you are trying to protect me from." He pulled away from me. "It's too late to stop it."

"Your right, it's too late," I responded as I closed my eyes.

"You have my approval to do the Splitting Spell," Reid mumbled from his seat in the chamber. Caleb ran his hand over his face, making Reid give him a dirty look.

"Don't look at me," Caleb snapped. "It's not me this time." He put his elbows on his knees and held his hands. He turned to look at Tyler.

We were all in our seats except Gregory, who was sitting on the steps leaning his head against the wall. Pogue was leaning back in his seat with his arms crossed over his chest staring at Tyler. I lowered my head into my hands trying not to use on Tyler.

"Explain it again," Tyler asked confused. We all groaned in frustration. I lifted my head and stared him. Pogue shot him a dirty look and Gregory's eyes flashed fire.

"Are you fucking kidding me Baby Boy," Reid shouted as he ran his hand through his hair. "Princess has explained it over and over and over." He kicked something by his seat. "This isn't like the sex talk Tyler, we don't have pictures and instructions to help you." Everyone looked at Reid.

"What does…forget it," I sighed shrugging my shoulders. "Look Ty, in order to get rid of Laura permanently, I need to do the Splitting Spell. That was the whole reason behind Chase giving me his power." He looked away and slouched in his seat.

"You know Sam's right Baby Boy," Caleb stated. Tyler looked at him with fury in his eyes. "Put your feelings aside and think about everyone this affects."

"Really," he shouted with his hands in fists. "It wasn't too long ago that you were against this whole thing." He and Caleb were in a staring match. Neither one was backing down. I scooted to the edge of my seat.

"I think you guys need to make a decision before Laura shows up," Gregory pointed out. I jumped when I heard his voice. He chuckled as he put a hand on my shoulder. "Sorry Short Stuff," he said still chuckling.

"Babe can you sense Laura?" Pogue asked leaning forward to tap my knee. I closed my eyes and concentrated.

"Tyler quit yelling at me," I snapped. There was a loud smacking noise.

"What the fuck Reid?" Tyler yelled. He was still yelling at me. I opened my eyes and threw a shield around him.

"Yell all you want," I said closing my eyes. "No one can hear you." I concentrated on Laura. She was at Pogue's apartment.

"Where is she?" Gregory asked.

I opened my eyes and looked at Pogue. "She's at our place." I got up and walked to the bookshelf. "Tyler if you don't want to give your approval then we need a new plan," I pulled out the spell I needed for the guys to say to let me do the Splitting Spell. "But if you're done sulking," I walked to the fire in the middle of the seats.

"I'm not sulking," he replied. "I'm thinking." He made a face as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Okay," I said in a mocking tone. "When you're done thinking, you guys need to say the spell and I need a drop of your blood." I pulled out a stone bowl that held the ingredients for the spell. The guys looked at me with a shocked face. "It's a bind between all of us," I looked over my shoulder at Gregory. "That includes you too." I walked to my seat but Pogue pulled me towards him.

"Why me?" Gregory looked shocked. I couldn't help but smile.

"You're our brother," Reid scoffed. "Do you honestly think I would put up with your shit if you weren't?" he leaned back in his seat. "I'm not that noble." Caleb and Tyler laughed.

"That's for damn sure," Caleb said still laughing.

"You will never hear the word noble and Reid in the same sentence again," Tyler laughed.

"Gregory, after everything we've been through, how could you not be our brother?" Pogue asked. "If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be here." I pulled his arms around me tighter.

"I didn't have a choice," Gregory replied looking away.

"Oh God, I am so sorry Gregory," I cried as I covered my mouth. I shook my head and turned away.

"Shhh, babe," Pogue whispered. "It's okay." He held me close and rocked me. "I know you didn't want to know anything but if wasn't for Gregory, none of us would be here." I nodded taking a deep breath.

"We need to do the spell before it's too late," Tyler said getting up. He grabbed the paper and began to read the instructions.

"What can we do to help?" Caleb asked looking over Tyler's shoulder.

"It looks like Sam did everything," Tyler responded. "We just need to add a drop of our blood and say the spell."

The house began to shake. I jumped off Pogue's lap and pulled on my power. I swung my arms around. "Get down," I shouted. Everyone ducked as I shot out an energy ring.

"Is everyone okay?" Gregory shouted. There were loud noises and the sound of small bombs going off.

"Yeah," Reid yelled getting up from the floor.

Tyler helped Caleb up. "We're good," Tyler grunted. They were looking at me when the house shook again. I fell backwards landing next to Pogue.

"I'll hold them off while you guys do the spell," I suggested as we got up. Pogue pulled me towards him as his lips crashed down on mine. His tongue invaded my mouth with urgency. He pulled away just as quickly.

"We'll hurry up," he promised. I gave him a quick kiss and headed towards the stairs.

"Short Stuff, wait," Gregory yelled. I looked over my shoulder. "I'll go with you."

"You need to add your blood first," I shouted going up the stairs.

"How will you know if it works?" Caleb asked. I laughed as I stopped and turned around.

"I'm connected to all of you, I'll know," I answered as my eyes flashed black. "Hurry up big brother." I ran up the stairs.

The house was quiet as I walked through the bottom floor. I looked out the window and I could see Laura and Patricia by the tree. They were looking at the shield as it took a hit. I closed my eyes and tried to find the others. Dominique, Carla and Renée were on the other side of the house. They were throwing energy blasts at the shield. I pulled on my dark power as I walked out of the house. Laura and Patricia were talking and didn't see me. I turned my hand so I could listen to their conversation.

"We have to stop them before they can do the spell," Patricia yelled at Laura. "Our power won't be a match for them." She was looking around. "Where are the others?" she screamed.

"It doesn't matter if they do the spell. They are still missing one key ingredient. Not to mention you have my power," Laura snapped. She looked around and threw her arms out. "If you continue to panic," Laura angrily shouted. "You'll end up dead like Stephanie." Patricia winced as she took a step back.

I let my dark power connect with the shield. Laura turned looking at the shield when it started to crackle as my energy lines formed with the shield. I moved them around until they were pointing at all the women. I felt Pogue's heartbeat quicken. They were almost done with the spell. I could feel my power change.

"Where are you Sam?" Laura asked looking around. "I know you're here somewhere." She took a couple of steps to her left.

I heard footsteps on the stairs. I moved my hands to make sure I had them all in sight of my energy lines. The sounds of the footsteps in the house got louder as they approached the door. I closed my eyes to get a feel for everyone. I took a deep breath as I opened my eyes and relaxed my shoulders. Pogue was in front of everyone else. He had his hand on the door and I moved my hands in and pushed them out when the door opened.

The energy lines hit the women with more power than I expected. They were knocked out on the ground. It caused a loud explosion that shattered the shield. There were red sparks falling all around as the shield began to break. Laura and Patricia were still on the ground. The guys ran out of the house looking around. I gave them a small wave.

"Sorry," I said in a small voice. "I might have used a little more power than needed."

"Just a little," Tyler had his index finger and thumb a centimeter apart.

They looked around as red sparks continued to fall. Pogue walked over to me. I hugged him as I pulled my power back. I kept an eye on Laura and Patricia as they lay on the ground. Hearing his heartbeat helped relax me.

"Where are the others?" Caleb asked as he rubbed my back.

"They are behind the house. There knocked out for the moment," I answered. "But be ready. They are about to wake up in a few seconds." I pulled away from Pogue but I held his hand.

"Why don't we take care of them?" Reid asked. He took a few steps towards Laura but Caleb stopped him.

"If you look real close you can see a thin shield around them," I pointed out to all of them. Tyler, Reid and Gregory were talking. I looked at Laura and Patricia but they were still on the ground. Tyler and Gregory started walking around the corner of the house. "I think they knew something was going to happen."

"How the hell do they have power if Princess and Laura are the last of the female line?" Reid asked walking towards us.

"I was wondering the same thing," Pogue added. "Unless there are more Covenants out there that we don't know about." I shrugged my shoulders.

"There is something about these women," Caleb moved to stand in front of me, "that doesn't make sense but I can't put my finger on it." Laura started to move.

"She mentioned something about them having her power," I whispered. Caleb turned to look at me.

"Are you sure she said that?" Caleb asked before turning to face Laura.

"Yes, I'm sure," I answered. "Why? What are you thinking?" I moved next to him and let my power come to the surface.

"I read something about power transfer," he whispered. There was fighting going on behind the house.

"I'll go help," Pogue offered. My heart began to beat faster at the thought of being away from him.

"We need to take them to Putnam barn. I need to do the Splitting Spell there," I said holding his hand tightly.

"It'll be okay Lil Bit," Pogue gave me a kiss and took off.

Laura and Patricia were getting up. "Nice trick," Laura shouted. "But as you can see, I was prepared." She threw an energy blast as us.

Caleb pushed me away as Reid grabbed me. I landed on Reid but he quickly turned us as another blast went over our heads. I threw a shield around us and teleported Caleb into our shield.

"Thanks sis," Caleb muttered under his breath. Our shield was getting pounded by energy blasts and energy balls. Reid pulled me up. Caleb threw two energy balls at Laura and Patricia. They barely had time to move out of the way.

"You take care of Patricia," I shouted. "Laura is mine."

We each threw an energy blast between Laura and Patricia. They jumped out of the way, separating them. I ran towards the wooden fence. I slide between the wood and hid behind the tree. Laura threw an energy blast at me. I threw a blast of energy at her, putting more distance between her and Patricia. She threw an energy ball, hitting the tree branch. I had to jump out of the way as the branch fell. I threw the branch at her along with energy lines.

I could see Caleb and Reid throwing energy blasts at Patricia. Caleb threw energy lines at Patricia while Reid sent a thick tree branch at her. She blocked the branch and threw it at Caleb. His energy lines retracted and hit the house. He landed on his back with a huge branch on top of him. Reid was firing energy balls at her. Caleb got up throwing the branch at her plus energy lines. She laughed deflecting the branch but screamed as the energy lines wrapped around her. She was struggling to get out.

I trapped Laura in a shield but she was trying to blast her way out. I could hear the guys fighting on the other side of the house. I turned when I heard a crackling sound. Laura broke through the shield and appeared in front of me. She had her hand around my throat and held me against the tree.

"I'm done playing," she screeched. I was grabbing at her hands but I couldn't pull them away.

"Sam," Caleb and Reid yelled. I could see Reid was running towards me with a look of pure rage. Caleb was holding Patricia with energy lines.

"Stop," Laura yelled as she turned to face Reid. "Or I kill your precious Sam with a flick of my wrist." She turned her hand cutting off my oxygen. I was scratching at her hands.

Reid stopped and threw his hands up. "I stopped," he shouted. She laughed and let me go. I fell to the ground gasping for air.

She threw an energy blast at Reid, sending him flying backwards. He landed by Caleb's feet. "You should learn to stay down little boy," Laura laughed. She moved her hand over me, lifting me off the ground gasping for air. "I suggest you say good bye," Laura sneered as she turned to walk away. I took a deep breath and pushed my power out trying to free myself from her grasp. She snapped her finger and I was floating next to her.

"Wait," Caleb yelled. Laura turned slightly to look at him. Pogue, Tyler and Gregory were coming around the corner. I could see Carla and Renée were bound together with energy lines that Gregory was holding. "Don't you want your friends?" he asked in a taunting tone. Tyler and Pogue started to run towards me but Reid held them back. Caleb didn't move towards the guys, his eyes were glued on me.

"Do as you wish with them," Laura spat out. "If they were stupid enough to get caught by a bunch of kids," she pulled me closer to her when Pogue broke free of Reid. She threw an energy blast at him, sending him through the side of the house. Tyler and Reid ran inside the house.

"No!" I yelled. I tried to break free of her hold but instead I could feel an invisible hand choking me. Oh God, Pogue. Please be okay, please.

"Shut up," she scoffed as she threw me to the ground.

"Stop," Caleb shouted. "Take me instead please. Leave my sister alone." The squeezing on my throat stopped but it was difficult breathe.

"I have what I came for," she moved her hand as I was lifted up and floating next to her again. She laughed as she began to walk away. "Oh, one last thing," she threw her hands out. Patricia, Carla and Renée began to shake.

Laura began to whisper in a language I couldn't understand. I tried to break free. She closed her hands. Patricia screamed before going limp. Carla began to bleed from her eyes. Her mouth was open but there was no sound. Renée looked like she was hanging in the air with her head down. Neither of them was moving. I looked at Laura horrified. She was smiling as she looked at Caleb.

Reid and Tyler were carrying an unconscious Pogue out of the side of the house. He wasn't moving and his head hung down over his chest. I began to struggle even harder. I tried to talk but nothing would come out. I couldn't take my eyes off Pogue. There was blood on the side of his face.

"Enjoy the next few hours' boys," Laura said in a sarcastic tone. "They will be your last." She waved her hand and we were teleported to Putnam Barn.

Laura threw me against a beam. My head flew back and hit the beam hard. White bright stars flashed before my eyes. I tried to hold my pounding head but she wrapped energy lines around me. I was strapped to the beam with my arms pulled back around the beam and my hands tied.

"Don't move," she spit out as she waved her hand a small cauldron appeared. I closed my eyes and tried to figure a way out.

"Sam."

I looked around to see who was calling me but no one was around. I walked to the edge of the cliff but all I could see were the waves crashing into the side of the cliff. Wait, I jumped back looking at my hands. There were no energy lines and I wasn't at Putnam Barn.

"Sam."

"Chase?" I felt tears sting my eyes. "Where are you?" I saw movement by the tree line. But there wasn't enough light. I slowly walked towards the trees. Chase stepped out of the shadows of the trees. "Chase," I yelled as I ran to him.

"Sam," he yelled as he ran towards me. He opened his arms and I jumped into them. I could feel the warmth of his arms around me. All the pain I felt from losing him came out. I was sobbing so hard my body was shaking.

"I'm…I'm…How?" I cried.

"Shhh little sister," he whispered as he rubbed my back. "I'm better off where I am. I'm happy." He sounded relieved and at peace. He pulled away from me and brushed my tears away.

"I miss you," I cried. He chuckled as he held my hands.

"I miss you too but you are where you need to be at the moment," he had a small smile on his face. "I only get one chance to help you." There was a loud screeching sound. The ground shook. Chase pulled me close to him.

"What's going on?" I yelled over the loud noise. I held on to him as the ground continued to shake.

"Damn it," he shouted angrily. "We don't have much time." I looked at him confused. "Okay Sam you need to listen." I nodded as the ground stopped shaking. "Remember what Joy said about being the only one and what Gorman told you about your heart being strong."

"I remember," I said quickly. "But what does that have to do with you helping me? How are you even here?"

"Come on Sam," he hissed angrily. "What are Putnam's know for?" He gave me a little shake. He smiled when he could see it finally clicked.

"Incubus," I looked at him and smiled. "Bad quality actually paid off this time."

He laughed. "You need to embrace your dark side," he shouted as the screeching got louder.

"I don't want to," I shouted scared of the thought of being evil. He shook my arms. I pulled away from him. "I don't want to be him," I yelled.

"Sam you're nothing like him or me," he yelled back. "You know the difference between right and wrong." I shook my head and took a step away from him. He ran his hand through his hair. He was looking at the ground as if he was searching for something.

I looked around taking in the scenery. I know this place. Chase and Devin attacked Pogue and I here, the Dells, before Laura showed up. Why would I dream of this place? I turned to ask him when he looked up and clapped his hands. I jumped back, scared from his sudden movement.

"Sorry," he laughed. "But answer this for me, how do you know that the dark power inside you hasn't merged with your power?" He stood with his arms crossed over his chest and a smug look on his face.

I rolled my eyes. "Because I sense both powers inside me," I answered. "Well actually I can sense all five powers inside me." He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I sighed. "I have my power, your power," I was counting them off on my hand, "the sperm donors, Laura's and your good power." I waved my fingers and thumb at him. "See five." He grabbed my hand.

"If you can tell them apart then you can use them to your advantage," he said hitting my forehead with the palm of his hand. "Don't over think it." I felt a pull but I tried to push it away. He looked up and then looked at me with a sad face. "It's time for you to go," he pulled me into a hug.

"I'm gonna miss you," I held on to him as tight as I could.

"I know," he replied. "But it's not your time. You are going to have an amazing life with Pogue." I pulled away to look at him. I opened my mouth put he shook his head. "I've seen it." He wiped my tears as they began to spill. "But you have to get through this first. Or else everything…," he stopped talking and pressed his lips together. "Sorry." The look on his face reminded me of the first time we met. I could see all the good and wonderful qualities that he possessed. He gave me a big smile.

"I told you there was good in you," I said returning his smile. He kissed my forehead and began to walk backwards as a bright light appeared behind him.

"That's because of Kate and you," he answered. I wanted to ask him so many questions but he began to fade away as the light got brighter. I lifted my hand to shield my eyes. "I love you Sam."

"I love you too," I choked out as I cried. I felt a pull and this time I didn't push it away.

I opened my eyes and blinked a few times. Laura was standing by the cauldron with her back to me. I could feel the tears on my cheeks. It took me a moment before it hit me. Chase. I wonder how long I was out. I could see Laura reading something and it was still dark outside. The energy lines were cutting into my hands. I moved a little to my left as quietly as possible to alleviate some of the pressure from my hands.

The hit I took to my temple was making my eyes hurt. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the guys. I need to know if Pogue is okay… but then I stopped. Chase said he already saw my future with Pogue… but I have a feeling that happily ever after will only happen if I can get out of here. I tilted my head back trying to put a plan together.

Every single decision I have made comes with a consequence that is bigger than the next. I was staring at the ceiling of the barn when I felt a coldness rush through my body. I shivered against the coldness that seemed to close in around me. My teeth began to chatter and I could see the smoke from my breath. I looked at Laura but she was pouring something into the cauldron. I was about to turn to my right when I felt an icy cold breath on my neck.

In my peripheral vision I could see a figure bent over looking at me. I quickly closed my eyes and began to pray. Please just be a figment of my imagination. Please just be a figment of my imagination. I turned to my right and opened my eyes and screamed.

"Do you like my surprise?" Laura asked sweetly. My mom, my dead mom was looking at me with black eyes. Her skin was pale and her hair was pulled into a bun. Her mouth was open and I could see her sharp and pointy teeth. The inside of her mouth was black. The sound coming out of her mouth was terrifying. She grabbed my shoulders and shook me. I heard something crack and then there was nothing.
