Chapter Thirty-Eight

Both Kagome and Inuyasha were stunned to say the least. They weren't expecting for anyone else to find about this whole situation, especially Ginjiro. Inuyasha knew exactly what his father was capable of and knew that the Youkai tradition was something that he held at the highest regard. It was unheard of having a request such as divorce to be granted. Most youkais would just accept who they were destined to mate with and go on with their lives. Inuyasha was the special case. He knew that his father wasn't going to go easy on him. Hell since when has his father ever gone easy on him? There was an uneasy feeling beginning to settle within the room.

Before Kagome could speak, Inuyasha spoke.

"Yes, it's true. Kagome told me that the Youkai Council has given her permission in getting a divorce." Inuyasha stared at his father.

Without any notice, Ginjiro was already across the room pinning Inuyasha against the wall. His hand was firmly encircled around Inuyasha's neck and Inuyasha was hoisted off the floor, feet dangling in the air.

"How could you have let this happen? Did I not tell you that you have to accept Kagome as your mate and move on with your life? How did I raise such a stubborn son?" Ginjiro growled. His youkai was slowly emerging as his eyes were turning red.

Inuyasha nodded and the grip around his neck was tightening up. He tried his hardest to keep word from getting out. He didn't want anyone to find out about this, especially his parents. Mainly his father, you could see why he didn't want his father knowing about the situation.

Ginjiro released his hold on his son but not before throwing his across the room breaking the metal entertainment center that was on the opposite side of the room. Inuyasha let out a groan as his body connected to the metal. He did just get out the shower and he was already bruised up a bit.

"Totosai was the one who informed me about the Youkai Council decision." Ginjiro began, "I do not agree with this and I don't know how why they would let you be the first to get a divorce." Ginjiro looked over at Kagome. "You must have made some sort of compelling argument for the Council to grant you a favor such as this."

Kagome didn't say anything. Not like she could, she was still in shock about Inuyasha's father finding out about this whole situation. Her eyes looked over at Inuyasha. He was tossed as if he was a piece of balled up paper. Not once did he try to protest to his father, if he did he would have gotten worse. Ginjiro turned his attention towards Kagome, startling her a bit.

"Don't worry Kagome, I won't hurt you. I do wish that you would reconsider your divorce with Inuyasha. He may be stubborn and a complete idiot but I too was the same way when I was his age."

Kagome could feel her throat go dry. What did he expect from her? She wasn't in the position to just open up her heart when it was clearly that Inuyasha was still in love with Kikyo.

"I can't be the one to tell you what you should do. I see now that the family's interference on the two of you has gone out of hand. I do believe that this issue that is between you and Inuyasha should be resolved between you and Inuyasha. Therefore, you do not have to worry about anymore antics, especially from Izayoi. I know that she can get a tad bit overboard. However, you have my word on the matter."

Kagome blinked her eyes a few times, not believing what she was actually hearing. Ginjiro smiled slightly at Kagome as he turned his attention back to Inuyasha. "Clean yourself up Inuyasha and you're paying for the damages that you caused."

"What! I wasn't the one who tossed me clear across the room." Inuyasha yelped out.

Ginjiro shot his son a look and quickly shut him up. Inuyasha grumbled out a fine and Ginjiro walked out of the room. Inuyasha got to his feet and looked at the damage. He knew that this would probably cost a lot seeing that there was also a hole in the wall as well. His eyes darted to Kagome who was still standing there.

"Looks like the cat is out of the bag."

Kagome nodded her head she walked over towards him. She kneeled beside him surprised by her actions. "Are you okay?" she spoke softly.

Inuyasha's ears twitched a bit. He was surprised to see that Kagome was talking to him and actually concerned about his well-being. This wasn't something he was expecting. Since Kagome had shown him that she didn't want anything to do with him. "I'm okay, my old man actually took it easy on me. I've had far worse than this."

"You're bleeding though." Kagome noticed that the metal had pierced his skin with a long scratch on his side. "You need to treat that before it gets infected." Kagome stood up and walked towards the bathroom. She grabbed one of the towels from the linen closet and applied some soap and water on it. She walked back towards Inuyasha placing it on his wound.

"You didn't have to do that. I'm half youkai; it would probably heal in the morning." Inuyasha said turning his face the other way. This was definitely a change in attitude. Why was she being so nice all of a sudden?

"I know I didn't have to." Kagome spoke not looking at Inuyasha.

"Eh, thanks Kagome." He said turning his head slightly embarrassed that Kagome witnessed what his father did. He was however glad that Kagome was offering to help.

Kagome noticing their close proximity quickly stood to her feet and gathered her items to take a shower with and disappeared behind the bathroom door, locking it in the process. Kagome pressed her back against the door, her heart beating in her chest fast. She shouldn't be helping him. Why was she having a change of heart all of a sudden?

"I've never seen his father appear so angry with Inuyasha. I heard them argue but I didn't think that he was so serious about our marriage. Kagome what have you gotten yourself into?" Kagome thought to herself as she ran her fingers through her hair.

The following day the family next destination was the downtown area which consisted of the Historic District and the New Center. It was in the heart of the city with many historical sites and monuments. The downtown area was simply breathtaking to say the least as large buildings, cathedrals and museums were various sites that would make up both areas. The family didn't get to see all of the sites that the tour guide had scheduled them to see but amongst the sites were the Cathedral, Patio do Colegio, Largo de Sao Francisco, Municipal Theatre, Museum of Sacred Art, Nossa Senhora da Luz, and many more. The majority of the day was pretty much spent downtown.

"Kagome what's wrong? You are unusually quiet and I know something is bothering you." Sango noticed that her best friend wasn't talking as much to her or anyone else for that matter. She immediately thought that the cause of Kagome's quietness was Inuyasha. "Don't tell me that idiot did something to upset you again."

Kagome shook her head faking a smile, "You don't have to worry about him. I just have a lot on my mind is all."

"You know that as soon as we return back home you will get your wish and finally divorce that bastard." Sango pointed out.

"Yeah, then you can finally start back pimping because we all know that Kagome was a pimp back in her high school days." Yuka teased.

"No I was not and exactly who did I pimp?" Kagome wanted to know.

"Hmm there was Takeru, Yuu, Shingo, Mitoki, and the list goes on and on and on." Yuka teased.

"The main source after her affections was Hojo." Eri remembered.

All the girls screamed yes as they burst in a fit of laughter.

"He was so smitten with Kagome. It was adorable." Ayumi reminisce.

"It wasn't adorable; he just didn't take the hint." Kagome rolled her eyes. "Hell I told him flat out that I wasn't interested in him. I don't know why he continued to pursue me all those years."

"He believed that you were his one true love and that nobody else could compare to you feminine charm." Eri mocked.

"Oh gosh you sound just like him." Kagome couldn't help but to laugh.

"When you didn't go to prom with him, he was so heartbroken. However, you did redeem yourself in his eyes when you and him danced and took pictures." Sango laughed.

"I'm sure that he's going to tell his grandchildren that we were an item." Kagome shook her head at the memory.

"I doubt he'll have grandchildren. He's not going to want to get with anyone but you." Eri said.

"Hey, Kagome's a married woman. She shouldn't be talking about other men, Inuyasha wouldn't like that." Ayumi pointed out.

"I'm quite sure that Inuyasha wasn't thinking that when he snuck around and was with Kikyo. So if Kagome wants to see Hojo then he shouldn't be upset. Like they say karma is such a bitch." Sango shrugged her shoulders.

"What was that Sango? I didn't hear you." Inuyasha walked over to where the girls were startling them. Everyone except Sango.

"You have those ears on your head Inuyasha, I'm quite sure you know exactly what I said." Sango glared at him before rolling her eyes and turning her attention elsewhere.

"How about you repeat it. I would love to hear what you have to say about the whole situation." Inuyasha let out a low growl.

"Now now, we don't want to get to hasty now do we?" Miroku intervened. He knew that Inuyasha wouldn't hurt Sango but with his temper who knew what would come out of that mouth of his.

"Yeah don't get carried away Inuyasha. I don't take verbal jabs too kindly." Sango said walking off.

The whole time while the whole scene was playing out Ginjiro and Totosai were watching at a far off distance. Ginjiro knew that things weren't going too well with Inuyasha and Kagome, he just never expected for a divorce to be on the table.

"Did you talk to the two of them about the situation?" Totosai asked.

Ginjiro nodded his head. "More like I gave Inuyasha a piece of my mind and you know how that went."

"You Inu's really have to learn how to control your tempers. I don't know which is worse the temper or the possessive nature you have with your mate's." Totosai shook his head.

"I'd say they are evenly matched." Ginjiro smirked.

"Does Izayoi know about their impending divorce?"

Ginjiro brow furrowed as he thought about telling Izayoi the news. He knew that it would break her heart but he already could see how things were going with his son and daughter in law. "I don't think she should know. We already know how excited she can get. I don't want her to try and fix things. This is something that Inuyasha and Kagome will have to figure out themselves."

"As if Inuyasha can actually fix this. The boy will probably create a bigger mess when it's all said and done."

"I agree but things haven't been going well with our interference either. Although, if it was me things wouldn't have even come to this point. I still can't believe that the Youkai Council agreed to her request." Ginjiro couldn't wrap his head around that one detail.

"Hosenki is getting old and probably got tired of the constant bickering coming from Inuyasha. He may be your son but he is a whiner. Even Shippo doesn't whine as much as Inuyasha."

Ginjiro smirked at the comment.

"Hopefully things will work out and Kagome will change her mind about the whole matter." His eyes were locked on Inuyasha and Kagome. "Who knows what fate has in store for those two."

The following day was one that most of the family was looking forward to going to the beach. Everyone was pretty much excited about going. Maybe there was some truth about the beaches in Brazil. Seeing how glamorous it was in movies and television shows you could only imagine how it would be to actually be there.

"Looks like we should be heading out." Inuyasha grabbed his items from the table as he looked over at Kagome who was still gathering some of her items. "My parents said that their crew won't be there until the afternoon. Your brother and Shippo are still asleep and our moms are having breakfast."

Kagome nodded her head but didn't say anything. She grabbed her last item placing them into her beach bag and headed towards the door. The two of them walked out of their hotel room to meet up with their friends.

Getting to the beach wasn't as close as they hoped. The two beaches that the group had to choose between were the Maresias beach or the Santos beach. Both beaches were over an hour drive from where they were staying at the hotel. There was a vote on which beach the group would go to and the majority decided to go to Maresias. Even though it was a longer trip, the sightseeing while they were driving would be well worth it. Besides they would arrive there before noon which would give them plenty of time to enjoy the beach and all it had to offer.

As to be expected, it took two hours and 45 minutes to arrive to the beach. Traffic was unusually busy that morning but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for that part of Brazil. Most of the time everyone was kept entertained by either talking or busy on their phones. Once arriving to their destination, the real fun was about to begin.

"It's definitely pretty out here." Eri said as she and the others stepped out of the limousine and inhaling the beach air.

"It's nice. I can't wait to see what else they have here." Yuka exclaimed already excited.

"Ladies how about we enjoy ourselves and have some fun." Sango yelled out. "Where are some locals?"

"You don't need any locals. We can have fun with just us." Miroku chimed in.

"Uh no. I plan on having fun and I don't plan on hanging with you or your friends especially not Inuyasha. Now come on Kagome, let's find a comfortable spot for us." Sango walked passed Miroku and grabbed Kagome's hand leading her down the path.

"Looks like she shut you down." Kouga laughed. "She isn't interested in you Roku. Looks like you're losing your charm. I guess you're getting old."

"Whatever, she's playing hard to get. I know how to approach her. I have to be aloof and act like I don't care."

"I doubt that will work but you know I love to see you crash and burn. It'll be entertaining." Bankotsu said taking a sip from his water bottle. "What time did you say that the others will be here Inuyasha?"

"My dad said that they'll be here after noon. So they should be leaving the hotel now."

"Guess we will have some free time before they get here." Bankotsu stretched.

The Maresias beach was simply breathtaking. When the group first arrived there weren't that many people gathering but it was starting to pick up after 12:00 hit. Locals and tourists were filling up the beach at a rapid pace. It is a beach location known for its huge waves that were sometimes stationed for many surfing tournaments. Besides of that fact it did have tourist attractions and shops that attracted locals and tourists alike including nightclubs and other activities.

"Hey Kagome are you okay? You've been quiet since yesterday." Ayumi noticed that Kagome wasn't talking as much as she normally would.

"Don't tell me that bastard did something else to upset you? He didn't try to contact Kikyo or anything has he?" Sango was ready to fight and was looking for a reason to give Inuyasha a one-two punch.

Kagome raised her hands up quickly. "No, it's not that. I'm just taking it all in, ya know. This trip is like a once in a lifetime vacation. I'm just enjoying it really." Kagome lied.

Sango looked at her best friend for a few seconds. "Are you sure? You know that I don't have a problem of putting Inuyasha in his place."

"You just want to be violent." Eri laughed. "You two are butting heads. You two should schedule a boxing match. Let's put it all out on the table."

"That would be interesting. A pay-per view match between Inuyasha and Sango. Definitely would draw some attention." Yuka laughed. "I can see it now. I one corner we have Sango weighing such and such pounds coming from a long line of Youkai exterminators. And in the other corner, we have Inuyasha. The guy who was forced to marry Kagome and now is making her life a living hell but wants to redeem himself."

"FIGHT!" Eri shouted.

The girls couldn't help but to laugh. It was a funny thought to picture those two actually getting into a boxing ring and duking it out.

"You guys are silly." Kagome couldn't help but to chuckle a bit. "Hey, I'm going to get something to drink. Do any of you want me to bring you back something?"

"No." they all said at the same time.

"Okay." Kagome walked towards one of the stands that were selling refreshments. She didn't realize that it was obvious that something was bothering her. She thought she was good at keeping a poker face. Ever since Ginjiro found out about the Youkai Council granting her the divorce, she didn't know how to feel. Also seeing how Ginjiro man handled Inuyasha was another thing that bothered her. She never saw Ginjiro show that type of rage that it sort of scared her.

"What have you gotten yourself into Kagome?" she thought to herself.

"Is that you Kagome?" the familiar voice spoke from behind her.

Kagome turned her head and was surprised to see Rodrigo standing behind her.
