As of 1:32AM GMT on February 8th 2015, this story has been fully completed on my laptop. Hint: it's a surprise ending.
Connor was led up to the control room, before being handcuffed to the wall and forced to watch as the operation to kill over a million people was about to be started. She flinched as everyone's headsets made high-pitched noises.
"I'll go check it out." One of the men said, before getting up and opening the door. Connor laughed as Sam, Steve and Maria stood there with their guns raised. Steve walked in and spotted her, relief spreading across his face and he snapped the handcuffs off her and helping her up.
Steve moved over to the intercom and Connor stretched while Sam passed her a gun. She raised an eyebrow but took it anyway.
"Attention all S.H.I.E.L.D agents. This is Steve Rogers. You've heard a lot about me over the past few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt me down. But I think it's time you know the truth." Connor decided she would head down to the other control room, to make sure nothing too bad was happening down there.
"S.H.I.E.L.D is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader. The Strike and Insight Crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more. But I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you. They almost have what they want: absolute control. They shot Nick Fury and it won't end there. Connor Whitmore has been shot twice." Connor rolled her eyes as she walked down the corridors with her gun held up.
"If you launch those Helicarriers today, HYDRA will be able to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them. I know I'm asking much, but the price of freedom is high. It always has been, but it's a price I'm willing to pay." Connor had almost reached the control room.
"If I'm the only one then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not."
Connor walked slowly into the room, seeing the man who had shot her twice and tasered her standing with yelling at a man.
"I'm not going to launch those ships." The man stated and Connor smirked. "Captain's orders."
The armed man pulled out a gun and held it to the man's head. Connor narrowed her eyes.
"Move away from your station."
A female agent that Connor faintly recognised (but from where she was unsure) stood up and held her gun to his head.
"Like he said: Captain's orders." Everyone pulled out their guns and aimed them at various people yet Connor noticed no one saw her yet. She walked in with her gun at her side.
"You picked the wrong side Agent." The man snarled. Connor spoke up.
"No sir, you did." Everyone turned to look at her in surprise and she growled, flicking out her claws and her eyes turning bright blue.
The man dropped his gun. Connor snarled, not sure that he was done. He grabbed a knife and slashed the woman's leg, causing her to drop and fall. He turned around and shot some more agents.
He started typing and Connor lunged forward, slamming her body into his and causing them to go flying across the room. He pulled out his knife as they wrestled and managed to stab her in the back, right between her shoulder blades. She hit the ground and he took off running.
The woman agent rushed to her side, wincing at the pain from her slashed leg and pulled the knife out of Connor's back. Connor clenched her teeth and groaned but she could already feel the tissue healing back up together.
"Are you okay?" She asked urgently and Connor nodded, feeling her back almost completely healed. She pulled off her jacket and stood up in her black t-shirt and tight combat trousers, wincing slightly. She looked around the room, making eye contact with almost everyone and making sure they were all paying attention to her.
"Do whatever you can to stop those Helicarriers, I have someone to take down."
She shifted and ruffled her fur, while everyone took a step back and watching amazed at her before Connor took off down the corridors and headed for Alexander Pierce's office.
She prowled in, her teeth bared and a low growl slipping from her mouth. Alexander was holding a gun up to one of the members of the council, his finger about to pull down on the trigger. Some of the men turned to face her, their guns poised but there was an unexpected distraction.
The only female member of the council suddenly lashed out, knocking the man to safety before punching one of the guards and throwing a taser at another. Connor paused, not sure what was happening, the council have never had field experience.
Within ten seconds, all the men were either unconscious or too injured to get back up. She held the acquired gun facing Alexander Pierce and he raised his hands slowly, looking completely shocked. Connor moved forward slightly, still crouched offensively and her senses were on edge.
The woman reached up and tapped the side of her head while speaking. "I'm sorry," she started before pulling off the virtual face mask and wig to reveal Natasha. "Did I step on your moment?"
Connor barked, with Alexander quickly casting a freaked out look to Connor before looking back at Natasha. She passed one of the spare guns to one of the other council members and he held it towards Alexander while Natasha started her work on the computer.
Connor walked in a tight circle around Natasha's leg, her tail swishing angrily and snarling at Alexander occasionally. Natasha had patted her head once or twice to sooth the wolf but it wasn't affecting Connor's behaviour.
"What are you doing?" One of the men asked, his face full of worry. Alexander moved slightly and Connor growled heavily.
"She's disabling security protocols and putting all our secrets onto the internet." Connor paused for a moment realising her file would probably now be accessible to everyone.
"Including all of HYDRA's."
"And S.H.I.E.L.D's." Alexander countered. "If you do this, none of your past is going to remain hidden." Natasha stopped typing and looked up, while Connor could see the uncertainty of what she was doing in her eyes. Connor nudged her leg but Natasha ignored her.
"By doing this, you're putting not only everyone else in danger, but mainly Whittmore. Everyone knows a lot about the Avengers – minus Whittmore. We have her weaknesses on file too." Natasha cast a glance down at Connor who just motioned to the laptop with her head which was enough of a go-ahead for Natasha.
"Are you sure you're ready for the world to see you as you really are?" He finished and Natasha raised an eyebrow.
"Are you?" She countered and Connor felt a sense of pride, knowing Natasha was giving up almost everything to save millions of lives. Connor moved away from Natasha and closer to Alexander.
She found a gun barrel facing her by one of the councilmen. She moved her lip to show her sharp teeth and he turned the gun back to facing Alexander. Connor rolled her eyes, forgetting these people knew little on how to even shoot a gun.
