Chapter 17: A Common Burden.
Melissa and Ludmila's car has died directly under an aerial battle near Acmeston. The car's engine has managed to get them this far, but it's been destroyed by machine-gun fire. Ludmila is performing CPR on a pilot from her homeland. While performing, she asks the crashed pilot about a name, asking if he has any information, but the pilot takes a turn for the worse. Just before all this, he seemed to be mumbling a name.
" 'Garuda', Loonatics' leader. He's the one that shot me down." the pilot mumbled.
"If only he was here! If he were here, this never would've happened!" Ludmila cried in Russian, Estovakia's official language.
Melissa know exactly what Ludmila's going through-why she's overcome with such emotion. Her husband could have very well ended up like this. And now she know, the one Ludmila loves is a pilot as well. As the two female rabbits save a man's life on the wide open plain, they both begin to realize what they share, how much they have in common. They eventually save the pilot's life and get out alive.
