Finishing the Mission part 3

Back with Robin and Hal, the bird boy was just finishing up decrypting the software when a sound like a siean rang out from far away. "What is that?" Hal asked.

Rocket came flying in and she landed on the top of the panel. "Hey, man, can you hurry? Because this places is going to turn into a battlefield if we don't get our asses out."

"What is it?" Robin asked.

"A lot more of those guys then there were before are coming straight here." Rocket answered.

"Don't worry, I'm almost done decrypting- got it!"

"Finally!" Hal yelled.

"Don't blame me for being slow, you weren't the one translating, right?"

"Not my fault."

The sound of several war cries was heard from the line of trees far away. Robin began to yell out, "Ok, I need two on the perimeter to keep them-"

"Or!" Killowag yelled from his place by the portal next to Superboy and Zatanna. "I'll take 'em all, one on five thousand… or however many there are." Killowag made a giant machine gun with his ring and began to march to the line of trees. He stopped just at the edge and held up the aim of the machine to the shadows. "Come and get some."

From the platform where the panel was, Rocket and Robin stared at him a bit frightened. Their heads moved to Hal who was chuckling. The Green Lantern said, "Don't worry, he has it covered."

"Ok then. Superboy and Zatanna, keep guard of the portal."

"Still on it!" the kryptonian told him.

Miss Martain landed next to her boyfriend and joined in on guarding the boom tube. Killowag gave a war cry and ran into the tree with his machine gun. The sound of men shouting and Killowag laughing reassured everyone the big Green Lantern was all right. Meanwhile, Robin unplugged a USB drive he had plugged in earlier and slipped in a secure pocket of the utility built. He said to Hal and Rocket, "I got some files from their system I wanted to keep, but I managed to erase everything else. Now we blow it up."

"We can do that?" Hal asked.

Robin smirked, "It will destroy the machine and information in it."

"Why didn't we just do that before instead of going through all the translation hassle?"

"Because I need the information of transports they had."

"Why?"

"Just because." Robin snarked and continued to type on the panel. It was Hal's turn to bang his head on the machine.

Killowag came back into the clearing where the others were. He turned around to fire several more shots from his machine gun into the line of trees behind him. Everyone could now see shadows looming around from inside the forest, signs of back up for the guys who had been working here. Killowag yelled, "Bird Boy, I can't keep fighting like this. We need something big."

Hal got the idea instantly, lifting his head off the metal panel and yeling in excitement, "We blow them up!" Everyone gave him the odd eye. "Ok, not technically, but we can get Robin here to set off the machine to exploded the minute those guys run through those trees and get here."

Robin added in with more of his ideas, "I'll set it off with timer to implode with a detector to set off when a large amount of those guys get around this thing."

"What about the portal?" Rocket asked. "Any given amount of energy to a thing that strong could affect the durability of the boom tube." Everyone blinked. Rocket face palmed and then said slowly, "Explosion my affect how much longer the boom tube stays open."

"We shouldn't take any chances then." Robin explained. "Miss Martian, I'll tell you when to contact the others-"

All of sudden, thousounds of those horn headed man crashed the trees and shrubs, making their way to them. Hal grabbed Robin by the arm and said, "Ok, times up. Let's see if our plan works another way." Hal pulled Robin from behind and they grouped up with everyone next to the boom tube. Rocket yelled out, "We should combine or powers like we did in training. That should destroy the machine and stop them from getting here."

Without hesitation, everyone, but Superboy, combined their talents and aimed whatever they had to the machine. Rocket shot a pure amount of kinetic energy while Miss Martain focused her powers on the mechanism inside the machine to make it implode. Hal and Killowag summouned green balls of energy and threw them to the panel. Robin took out his explosive shurikans and let them fly as Zatanna recited an incantation. All the powers exploded together, destroying the machine and everything within a small radius. The Green Lantern's put a force shield around them while the army of horned man who had come into to attack where pushed away by the force of the explosion. When the dark cloud that came from the destruction settled, the Green Lantern dropped the shield and inspected the area. Lots of the men were unconscious and scattered around the grounds. The others who were not affected got scared and retreated back to where they came from.

"Yeah, that's right Poozers!" Killowag yelled, "No one messes with Green Lanterns…. And young super heroes."

Feeling like he should join on the cheering, Superboy raised up a hand and Killowag returned it with a high five. The sound of buzzing interrupted everyone's celebrating and they turned around to see the boom tube sparking and slowly shrinking centimeter by centimeter.

"Miss Martian." Robin said briskly, "Call the others, we got to get back now."

Kid Flash and Artemis, still hanging over the edge, looked at the new comer in shock. The humanoid alien man stood tall over the dent in the ground that was embedded by the force he used on the now unconscious horned man. The alien had a greyish blue tint for skin and dark blue eyes. He had black line marks from the eye liner of his eyes down to his cheek, both sides, as well as his chin. What stood out the most was his black clothing with red shoulder plates, breast plate, gloves and boots. He also had on a red helmet with devil like horns, the helmet covering his whole head.

The red armored man stepped away from the knocked out horn man on the ground and walked up to Kid Flash. Thinking he was going to attack, the speedster warned him, "Stay back."

The red armored man halted, and then held up his hands up in defense and said, "I will not harm you."

"So why are you here?"

"Um, apparently saving your life." The armored man said, "Then again I came here just to look for someone else." The person kneeled down next to KF and helped him with pulling Artemis up and back on the stable ground, away from the edge.

She dusted herself and said to the armored man, "Thanks, don't know what could have happened to Kid here if you hadn't showed up."

"Me?" The red head whined, "What about you?"

"Oh I was fine, you know how I worry for you though." Artemis said more lovingly.

Kid Flash returned it with, "Babe, I feel."

The red armored man's eyes went back and forth between the two talking, and he had a pretty good feeling they were more than friends. The weird thing about all this to him, though, was what they were wearing. He had never seen such costumes and he didn't even think to find people like them in this sector. It was too remote to be industrialized in such ways as this. The man felt like they weren't from here. "Why are you two here? I don't think people of your kind are from these parts."

Kid Flash got snarky and leaned over to the guy, saying, "And what about you? Stranger?" The red armored man grunted and crossed his arms, eyeing Kid Flash with a fierce glare.

Artemis ignored Kid's comment and explained, "We're actually on a mission to return a creature from this area back home. He was found back on our planet, lost, having accidently jumped through a boom tube smugglers were using."

"Not only to return him home," Kid added, "But just to get rid of him because he is so annoying."

The way Kid said it brought a familiarity to the red armored man. The yellow cladded boy reminded him of someone he couldn't put his finger to. In fact, their species reminded him of some old friends, but it couldn't be the same, could it? "Are you humans?" he asked.

Artemis and Kid Flash stiffened. They knew aliens knew more about humans then humans did about them, but just the weird feeling they were getting like he just knew who they were screamed danger with a hint of wonder. Artemis answered reluctantly, "Um yes…."

Kid Flash was a little more reluctant so he tried to find something more about this red armored man that could help determine if he was friend or foe. The teen's eyes landed on the chest plate where there was a black circle and in the middle a white symbol. "What does that mean?"

Kid was about to poke the breast plate but the red armored man waved his hand off. The boy returned it with a sheepish smile. The stranger said, "It's a symbol of the Red Lanterns, but don't worry, I'm not one of them anymore…"

The couple looked at each other surprised. Did he just say Red Lantern, as in Mary's stories?

Kid Flash hesitantly walked up to the armored man and put a hand on his chin. They were face to face, no one saying anything, until Kid said, "Do we know you? I feel like we should."

Before they could ask who he was, an explosion from far away made them all look to the sky line of the trees. Rising over the forest was a dark cloud that looked like a blue electrical storm was going through it. "Hey isn't that where the others are?" Kid asked.

"I think they destroyed the machine." Artemis concluded. "Let's head back and check, maybe Aqualad and Mary had found Joey's family already."

"Good plan, and maybe this guy can- wait-" In talking to each other and getting distracted with the cloud, their savior had slipped away without a them noticing. "Where did he go?"

Artemis looked at the sky and around the area, "He's gone."

A piercing mind link scream came through the couple's head. It was Miss Martian yelling, "Team, get back to the boom tube immediately, it's about to disappear."

Kid got a bit nervous realizing they were still by the ridge, a long way off, and said to Artemis, "Let's get out of here and go back. We can report this to the others later."

"Ok, but we better- Woah!" She yelled a bit when Kid Flash picked her up bridal style.

He said slyly, "We better move fast?"

Artemis stoked a hand across his chest and gave him a smirk. "You always seem to know what I'm going to say."

"It's a perk of mine."

The Stranger watched from the trees as the couple sped away, and by sped away, the girl jumping in the boy's arms and then the boy running back into the forest at what the Stranger thought was an impossible speed. But then again, he told himself he had seen crazier things. And he has, and he had three Green Lantern friends to prove it. "They shouldn't see me, yet." He said to himself. "Maybe next time."

A.N: And if you haven't guess who the Stranger was, it's Razer. I just thought it would be funny of Jason Spisak met Jason Spisak, lol! So everyone know Killowag is not afraid of a fight, he has done this before, and then they all used the used their training to desrtroy the machine. Booyah! Now what are Mary and Kaldur up to?
