"You're very quiet this afternoon," commented Scorpius uncrossing and recrossing his feet which were resting up on the end of Lily's bed while he slouched in the chair beside it.

It was the evening of first full day since the majority of her relatives had left to return to England; only Ginny and Harry had remained.

"I guess I'm just feeling a bit down," replied Lily.

"I thought you wanted your parents to go home for a while," said Scorpius.

"I did, I do," replied Lily who had sent her mother and father back to the inn they were staying at to get a proper rest. "I just can't stop thinking about Draco. He should've woken up by now..."

A troubled frown came to rest on Scorpius' brow, he felt the same.

"He'll wake up," he said without much belief in his own words. "I know he will."

Lily smiled slightly at his trying to comfort her but knew that neither of them could predict what was going to happen or change it.

"I wish I could see him," she muttered gloomily.

Suddenly Scorpius sprang up out of his chair.

"I'll be back in a minute," he said heading for the door.

"Where are you going?!" Lily called after him.

"You'll see," was all the reply she got.

Literally a minute later Scorpius was back, pushing something along in front of him; it was a wheelchair.

"What are you doing with that?" asked Lily.

"What do you think?" asked Scorpius. "I'm taking you to see father."

It was well known that Love was one of the most mysterious and powerful forms of magic. If anything was going to wake Draco up it was Lily.

"Really?" she couldn't help grinning excitedly.

Scorpius steered the wheelchair over and parked it by the side of the bed.

"Come here," he said holding his arms out.

Lily threw the covers off her and sat up, she already felt weak but was determined to get into the chair and see Draco. She took a breath and was about to try to get out of the bed when Scorpius scooped her up off the bed in his arms and sat her in the chair.

"Ouch," she winced before she could stop herself.

"Sorry," said Scorpius although he was supressing a laugh.

"It's not funny," said Lily noticing.

"I found it quite amusing," returned Scorpius as he grabbed the handles of the chair and started pushing.

Lily ignored him, she was now focused entirely on Draco. She was admittedly quite nervous, no one had wanted to take her to see him before. How bad was it?

They'd reached the door of her room and Scorpius peered out.

"I'm breaking all the rules for you Potter," he said as he established that no one was watching and continued on.

"I don't think the rules have ever been high on your priority list," returned Lily.

"You might be right about that," he replied with a smirk which quickly disappeared. "I should warn you, what you're about to see might be a bit...confronting."

"I can handle it," replied Lily although she wasn't entirely sure if she could or not.

They rounded the corner and entered Draco's room. Lily took a deep breath (which hurt) and braced herself. She could see the bed but being in the chair she didn't glimpse Draco until Scorpius parked her right next to his unconscious father.

Immediately, she gasped and put her hand to her mouth. His injuries were horrific to say the least. Nothing could have prepared Lily for the sight before her. The burns that covered Draco's face, neck and arm on his left side were worse than the ones Lily had sustained. He was almost unrecognisable. Without knowing it, Lily started to weep.

Scorpius was suddenly hit by the realisation of what he had done.

"I shouldn't have brought you here," he said.

"No!" Lily countered immediately. "I had to see him, I wanted to see him..."

"Lily, you don't have to put yourself through this," replied Scorpius gently.

"Yes I do!" she said angrily and then after a pause; "Draco please wake up and be okay..."

She was now clutching the sheets near his burnt arm with desperate sorrow. She'd done this to him. How could she ever forgive herself?
