"I hope Kyoya kills Itsuki at Alouette's funeral, and then turns to Kyoko and says "Your life is mine now, herbivore"."-Prince (guest)
I got home just before the news was finally released to the normal public.
I am deeply sorry to inform you that Hibari Alouette has passed away after falling in the snow and hitting her head. She was rushed to hospital but there was nothing that could be done and died peacefully in her sleep.
My mum dropped the invitation to the funeral and burst into tears. She had been friends with Alouette for god knows how long and was the reason I had even met her in the first place. Their friendship had been one of the most important things in keeping me alive all these years as it meant Alouette had more of a reason to want me to live. I was her friend's daughter after all.
My dad held my mother as she wept until Kohiro got there with Ayano and my uncle took over for him. I found out that day that Kohiro had known Alouette fairly well too whilst Ayano and my dad did not, this however not meaning that they didn't feel any grief for the woman's death.
But what hit me hardest was that Ryohei cried too.
"T-there's something i-in my eye..." He lied as he sniffed loudly before lowering his voice to a whisper that I could barely catch. "I'm not s-sorry for that r-rude boy...I'm n-not..."
Ryohei was sensitive to other people's feelings, I realized because it wasn't our mum's or uncle's grief he was feeling but my own. After all, our mum and uncle were caught up in mourning just for Alouette. I had shifted from feeling mainly that to feeling predominantly utter despair for Hibari, which was what Ryohei was picking up on even though I wasn't crying or even showing huge signs of distress other than looking a little pale.
That was how Ryohei had changed from the canon. No longer was he mostly oblivious to a lot of things but instead finely attuned to them, picking up the merest hints of sadness and as a result feeling them too. He had always been like this even when I was born but with the other Kyoko she never really felt or hid the extreme emotions I had been feeling over these years. Ryohei would have lost the majority of his sensitivity with her whereas with me I would sometimes show my true feelings and then cover them up as best I could.
As a result, Ryohei had to get better at sensing what I was feeling. So now he was feeling the intense grief I had and was crying.
The next day was the funeral. Even at such short notice it seemed as if at least half of Namimori attended the service, all dressed in black kimonos. I stood next to Hibari, away from my family who, aside from Ryohei who gave me a knowing look through his tears, didn't notice how strange this was considering how we used to be very open with our hatred for each other, all of them too stricken by grief to properly think about it all.
For the first time in weeks I held his wrist, watching as Alouette's body was lowered down into the soil and not saying a word. He didn't cry, he never had done, but his whole body was tense and I could feel his scared heartbeat through my fingers.
Itsuki talked to him afterwards, the man not having cried either. I hadn't wanted to intrude on their private moment, one of their final moments together, but I couldn't leave Hibari alone with the yakuza boss either so I stood off to the side, trying not to listen. The only bit I heard clearly was when Itsuki told his son that he loved him.
Hibari said nothing back. He said nothing the whole time.
It was still morning by the time it was all over so I went with Hibari to the house I had just bought: a huge traditional Japanese home that I had gotten on a whim after remembering that on the wiki it had said Hibari lived in a house like this. I got given some servants by the Bovino too that were all ex-military or ex-assassins that knew about the mafia and were completely loyal to me. They were to protect Hibari as best they could whilst doing all of the chores round the house too.
"I have to visit at least twice a week so I can tell Itsuki that you are still alive," I told him after we has reached the house.
He gave it one look and scowled. "I do not want to be in your debt any further."
"I'm rich, this is nothing," I sighed. "You aren't in my debt anyway, this was all to repay my debt to Alouette after all."
He still scowled. "I don't need this."
"Tough, you are having it."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"For gods sake, take the house!" I blew out in frustration. "Fine, be in my debt if you really want to be and pay it back in favors or some shit. Just keep the house okay? Otherwise Itsuki will be pissed and you will definitely be in my debt!"
He gave me one final glare before turning his head away and walking inside, glaring at a maid who welcomed him (unfortunately for him she was not at all amused and grabbed him by the scruff if his neck, dragging him away). Giving one last exasperated sigh, I closed my eyes. "Schwarz, I know you are there."
I turned and opened my eyes as he appeared in his usual outfit, an illusion pulled over him as per usual. "Don't bother with that, I know what you look like."
"We need to talk apprentice."
"No shit," I then glanced behind me, just about seeing Hibari in one of the windows, the boy giving Schwarz a wary glare. I turned back. "But away from here. Kyoya doesn't need to get involved in this."
He gave the barest of nods before walking away. For the last time I looked back again and saw Hibari's lips moving. I just about got the gist of what he was saying.
If you go with him you are stupid.
I began to follow Schwarz, lips pulled into a tiny smile. He knows me too well already.
We stopped walking in a park, I recognizing the scene around me and giving Schwarz a short glare. "You think this is funny?" I asked, just about keeping the anger out of my voice.
"I thought it fitting we come here considering this is where you first lost control of your power," he replied as I tried to forget what had happened here six years ago.
Stop it. God, please, stop it.
I pushed Hinto's scream out of my mind and intensified my glare. "So, are you going to explain who you are or what? And take off the illusion already, it's irritating my eyes."
It was. I was trying to dispel it again without even thinking about it and my eyes were straining from trying to pull it all away. He did as I said and once again I saw him as the kid he was, for a moment wondering again why I ever thought he was Fran. They were so different. His hair, his eyes, his body build, even the way he carried himself. "So you really are just a kid." I half spat, still disgusted with how he had treated me even though we could only be about three years apart in our ages.
"I am twelve, hardly still a small child." He spoke in that voice I still wasn't used to-monotone and yet the voice of a young boy when I only had ever known him as an adult.
"You were only six when I met you then and seven as the number one illusionist."
"No, I was number one at six. You only found out when I was seven."
"How?" I clenched my fists. "How can you be so strong?"
"How do you think I knew exactly how to train you? You are not the only person with natural illusion eyes." He replied as I desperately wanted to slam him into the floor for saying that.
"You didn't train me well! You made everything fucking worse! You made my powers be restricted and made me burn!"
"As I said, I knew exactly how to train you because I have natural illusion eyes as well."
"Didn't you just hear what I sai-" I cut off, eyes wide. Schwarz didn't like L'Ordre Dionysus, it was obvious with how he had lied to them about how he had needed to train me as soon as possible when we first met instead of telling those cloaked sons of bitches of my existence. And he had just said he had known how to train me because he had natural illusion eyes as well. So...oh.
Oh.
"They have restricted your power before." I said it more like a statement than anything else because it all clicked in my brain then that this was why Schwarz went against their regulations. This was why he didn't like them. Because he got burned too.
"People with natural illusion eyes are also more likely to have the ability to use their emotions to strengthen their illusions." He explained in that monotone voice. "You should have listened to me the first time I told you not to make illusions based off of your emotions."
"What...what did you do?" I asked, suddenly burning with questions. "How did you even get found by the L'Ordre Dionysus? Why did they restrict your power? Who the hell are you?!"
I expected no answers. I expected Schwarz to say that I didn't need to know. I expected to never know. After all, Schwarz doesn't just tell him life story. That's just not who he is.
But you are meant to expect the unexpected.
"I was born as the son of an illusionist which is why I have these markings here," he pointed to the triangles on his face that were larger than Fran's. "Natural illusion eyes can be inherited along with these markings as they aren't like simple tattoos. They are made with illusion energy. It is unusual that no one in your family seems to have had a history of being an illusionist as your illusion eyes were so developed."
I wanted to say something but I was dumbstruck. Schwarz was telling me everything. He didn't do that. Ever.
"I however was untrained by my father and left to my own devices. As a result, I became a self taught illusionist and used my emotions as power as I have warned you against, apprentice. So one day I ran an emotion high and ended up killing another illusionist. I was three." He added upon seeing my mouth open to ask him what age he had been.
A wave of anger washed over me. Three. He killed someone when he was three and I almost killed Hinto was I was the same age. He knows exactly what I have been through and yet has done all of those things that have ripped me apart.
How fucking dare he then call me his apprentice? How?!
"My power was restricted for the good of L'Ordre Dionysus. I was then found by Itsuki the very same day and recruited as a Momokyokai member. At the age of six I had broken off the restriction and realized my power had grown exponentially. I was given the title of number one illusionist a few months before I met you."
I was angry and disbelieving now. At six years old Schwarz became number one illusionist in the whole world. I was nine and nowhere near becoming as powerful as him unless I used the hell ring. "That isn't even possible," I eventually managed to say, Schwarz looking at me with a blank expression.
"You inherit your power from your ancestors. I come from a family littered with illusionists. My position in the world was ensured with how numbers of illusionists from families of illusionists are decreasing."
I breathed deeply, trying to order my thoughts. "But you got rid of the restriction in three years!" I have had it for five years and there is no way I am getting rid of it any time soon. "You can't just do that! And why the hell are you telling me all of this?" I finally asked the question that had been burning in my mind the minute he had started telling me everything.
"As an exchange."
"As an exchange for what?!"
He stepped towards me and I saw that burning anger in his eyes that I had seen only when he had threatened to kill me before for saying a name. "You never say his name to anyone."
"You mean Fran?"
He flinched the tiniest amount when I said it before stepping closer to me again. "Who else would I be talking about?"
I wanted to shut up then and there but I was angry and when I was angry I did the stupidest things. "Who are you to Fran? His brother or what?" The moment I said the word 'brother' he flinched again. "Oh. So you are his brother." I sneered, fists clenching even tighter.
"Don't say another word." Schwarz, the emotionless bastard, hissed at me, grabbing my arm and tightening his grip so much on it I wanted to shout out in pain. "He is not involved nor is he relevant to anything. Repeat his name again in front of anybody and even if I am your master, I will kill you."
I still had things I wanted to say, things I wanted to scream and all in horrible anger but for once I did shut up because Schwarz really was going to kill me if I said anything else. So he let me go and stepped backwards before speaking again. "Your training will recommence tomorrow after you have finished at your school, understand?"
I didn't say anything so he pulled his usual illusion over himself and disappeared just like that.
After that had all happened I tried to get back into the routine I had had before Alouette had died. Going to school and getting all of the best grades, visiting Rika and Hinto on the weekends, doing some boxing with Kohiro, Ryohei and now at times Ayano, hanging out with Ryuga, Lu soon and Hana, training with Itsuki and Schwarz and doing all of the mafioso deals as Madam Glycerin. But it was all too different.
For starters now I had Lambo to talk to on weekends too, Hana sometimes joining in and at one point remarking how my godson was actually starting to get the sass I had (I punched her again for this). Then I had my visits to Hibari twice a week which usually ended with me being floored or him being floored or both of us being floored by the super strong servants who were pissed with how we were destroying the house. My training with Schwarz was never the same either. I hardly said anything ever to him, only the few bitchy remarks I always had said because I truly despised him now. He knew exactly what had happened to me after having experienced it himself and had been cruel to me even so.
I never said Fran's name again though and never said anything about his past either.
Then there were the missions that had gotten more brutal and I was killing people left and right and then vomiting up all of my food the next day, too weak to keep it all down. Hana came with me on as many missions as she could but it started being too much even for her. So on some missions I was alone because Hana just wasn't physically able to go on two jobs in a row whilst I had to because of my deal with Itsuki.
Itsuki changed too. Of course he would. You could tell he was this wounded man without Alouette, let alone without Hibari. My training with him became tougher and more dangerous as there was no Alouette to stop him either. Half the time I got the feeling he wanted to run his double bladed katana through me just so it would all end because he knew it was partly my fault his wife had died. But he never did.
I visited Lambo in Italy twice during the next year. His hair had grown out but not in an afro like it had in the canon, it instead growing out just wavy like his older versions had it. He didn't wear his cow print jumpsuit either, instead wearing a more normal looking white T-shirt, jeans and a hoodie. Also, he had much more of an attitude in person that I could remember him having before.
Sure, he was an adorable little fucker towards me but as soon as some person bumps into me he pulls out one of the bombs I gave him and gives the guy this fake smile of innocence.
"You have three seconds to run before I blow your head off you son of a bitch."
I was torn between staring at him in disbelief or applauding him for having learned so well from me.
I applauded him in the end as the other man ran for his life, Hana, who had come with me, face palming and groaning about how I had created a mini version of myself.
Everything ended up so different after all that I eventually gave up trying to go back to that routine of normality for me. Alouette's death had changed everything. There was no way of returning now.
And, although some things turned out seemingly better for me after that, this fact hurt more than it should have.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYUGA-KUN~!"
I resisted the urge to kill myself as the high pitched squeals that emitted from the group of girls in front of me sounded, watching as my blonde friend laughed and threw some pick up lines about to a few of these annoying skirt clad people. A group of boys then turned up, whining something along the lines of 'stop hogging all of the girls' and making Lu soon beside me snort.
"They should be grateful. All the stupid girls go to him whilst the others have enough sense to stay away."
Hana raised an eyebrow. "Is that you or the jealously speaking?"
"In a minute it is going to be my fist speaking so kindly shut up Hana."
I snorted before stuffing my face with more cake as Ryuga smoothly disengaged from the conversation he was involved in without anybody really noticing, the boy then twirling up to us before striking a pose. "Well? What do you think of that?" He asked, puffing his chest out proudly."
"If it's the twirling you are talking about then I believe you when you say you are in touch with your feminine side," Hana drawled making him pout.
"You are such a meanie Hana! I was talking about the girls all wanting a piece of me!"
I raised my hand. "But I don't."
"Oh Kyo, even if you were voted sexiest girl in our year ("Wait, since when was I?" "Kyoko, you were confessed to fifty times. In the last month." "And turned them all down through either violence or harsh words. You'd think they would have learnt by now...") you will forever be a boy in my eyes and therefore do not count!"
"I don't know whether to feel offended by that or not."
Lu soon rolled his eyes. "Oh whatever. Anyway, I thought you said this year it was just going to be us lot as usual for your party."
"Pfft, no! I'm eleven now! I deserve the grand parties that super stars have now!" He struck another pose, the effect ruined by how his glasses almost fell off.
"Lame." Hana remarked.
"Agreed." Lu soon and I said in unison.
"Hmph! I feel so unloved!" He turned his head away dramatically before grinning at us. "Let's just load our plates up and retreat to my bedroom for a super secret Vindice birthday party!"
I almost choked on my food. Our name gets me every time...every god damn time.
After a few moments we had all grabbed about half of the food available and were starting to head upstairs when my phone suddenly vibrated in my pocket. Flicking it out to see who it was, my whole expression must have darkened because Hana knew exactly who it was who was calling.
"You guys take our food and go in ahead. We just need to sort out something," Hana told them as we shoved our plates of food into their hands, Lu soon yelling something about my plate being so heavy because I was some fat bitch making me show him the finger before making my way into the empty kitchen and answering the phone, casting an illusion to make us silent as I turned it on loudspeaker.
"What is happening Itsuki?"
"Some fuckers came in here saying that they were just here for the Tomaso guys but we did a background check and figured out they were actually killers for hire. We got some guys after them but you and Hana, if she's around, would be quicker. Where are you?"
"South Namimori."
"They are in that area."
"You want them dead or what?"
"Don't care. Just get them."
"Right," I hung up only to feel a familiar sensation jolt through my head.
Illusions.
Nearby.
No, not just nearby, they are...
"Shit!" I swore and ran out of the room, Hana following as I thundered upstairs, my mind racing. Throwing open Ryuga's bedroom door I then froze upon seeing two unfamiliar men dragging the blonde out of the window, Lu soon currently trying to fight another one with at least three more outside and perched on the roof of the house opposite.
"Kyoko! Hana!" I heard Lu soon shout after destroying the illusion of silence around them all just before both the Korean and Ryuga were finally pulled out of the window.
Without a second thought I gave chase, jumping out after them and onto the roof of the house opposite. Hana was hot on my heels and getting one of the disassembled pistols she had taken recently to keeping on her at all times out from her pocket and putting it all together quickly as I in turn drew out the Bovino knife.
Before now I would have had to tell her what the plan was. Now we both already knew what was going to be done.
Be at a distance and pick them off. I'm going in to get the other two. Stay back unless I am in deep shit. Do not miss or I will kill you, okay?
Running forwards faster, Hana slowed in order to fire the first shot, a warning one that whisked past the face of the man who had grabbed Lu soon. He hadn't stopped so I didn't stop either.
In one movement I had thrown the knife, watching as it sank into his arm with a calculating gaze. Usually when attacking intruders like this I would be more lenient on them and give two warning shots. But these guys had just taken Lu soon and Ryuga.
I am going to kill them for this.
Lu soon thought that when those men had grabbed Ryuga and then himself that he had never been more terrified in his life. He soon got another number one scary moment when Hana pulled out a gun and Kyoko pulled out a knife, both of them with the scariest looks in their eyes he had ever seen.
That was when Lu soon realized that the men who had grabbed him and Ryuga were going to die.
Kyoko had thrown the knife only a second or so after Hana had fired her gun, it plunging into his kidnapper's arm and going in deep, blood gushing from the wound as the man turned, tearing his gun from his belt. He never got the chance to even fire it because by then Hana had shot three times, all hitting and making the man drop.
It took a moment for it all to sink in. That Hana and Kyoko had purposefully attacked and killed that man. That Hana and Kyoko were trained in this. That Hana and Kyoko were killers.
The redhead reached him just before the panic began to set in place, wrenching the knife from the now dead man's arm and spinning to deflect an attack. Her leg then slammed upwards into her attacker's stomach making him gag before she had to turn again to slash at another man who had tried to grab and run off with him.
A cut all the way down his chest appeared making his whole face twist up in pain but Kyoko was already turning again, standing over Lu soon and stabbing downwards into the first man's back in the spot right at the start of where the neck started and the back finished. As that man died almost instantaneously, another two shots were fired into the other one's chest, Lu soon not having long to gape in horror at the spectacle with how Kyoko was pulling him to his feet.
"Stay right here and, for fucks sake, don't look at them for too long." She ordered in this authoritative voice he had never heard her use until that moment before suddenly purple flames flew out of nowhere and surrounded him in this sort of barrier.
He opened his mouth, not sure what he was going to say or if he was going to scream, but Kyoko was already moving now after the other men, Hana before long jogging towards him and pausing for a moment. "I know this is crazy but you have to trust us, Lu soon. I know exactly what you are feeling but please, trust us or, at the very least, trust Kyoko."
Then she ran off after Kyoko, firing bullets as she went as Lu soon then looked down at the bodied littered around him, eyes wide with horror. He then remembered what the other girl had said and closed his eyes, his body shaking.
Trusting you two is the scariest fucking thing right now.
He had watched it all go down in front of Lu soon and so, as soon as Kyoko had reached him and his kidnappers, Ryuga decided to close his eyes, not wanting to witness what the Korean had.
It ended quicker than he had expected even though he had seen how fast the fight had lasted over by Lu soon. There were sounds of the dull thuds of kicks contacting with flesh, then slicing that made him want to put his hands over his ears and finally something sprayed over him making his eyes open to see a man fall down dead right in front of him.
His mouth opened in a silent scream before seeing Kyoko standing opposite the last man left alive, his friend's lips curled into a snarl. "Why the hell did you try to kidnap them?" She growled out, the man clenching his fist around his gun.
"A mistake more like. I could sense the illusion energy around here and thought it was coming from them." He was trying to sound confident but, with how Kyoko was glaring at him, Ryuga could understand why he was failing.
"So you came all the way here past the Namimori defense line with that terrible bullshit of yours because you thought an illusionist was here?"
The Namimori defense line? What?
"We knew the Momokyokai has at least two powerful illusionists here and to get at least one of them would decrease their strength, like our employer wanted. Although, I can see the job is meaningless now so..." His lips quirked into a nervous smile. "I will tell you who our employer was if you let me go now."
Kyoko stared at him for a few moments. "...Are you an idiot?"
"Eh?"
"Finding out your employer is the easiest thing imaginable. I wouldn't be surprised if the Momokyokai didn't know who they were already and assassins were already being sent in. And anyway," she lowered her eyelids menacingly. "Don't think you are getting away for trying to fucking kidnap them."
At this point all of the man's attempts to seem nonchalant flew put of the window and he began to back away. "I'm a fellow illusionist! There is no need for you to kill me! I'm part of L'Ordre Dionysus! I'm on your side!"
"I hate L'Ordre Dionysus illusionists," Kyoko hissed out as she stepped towards him slowly, knife firmly in hand. "Looking at you just makes me want you dead even more you bastar-"
BANG.
The man fell backwards, blood flowing from a wound in his chest. Kyoko looked at him for a few moments and sighed before slipping the knife back into its holster that was strapped to her back. "Hana, there was no need for that."
"There was," the girl answered quietly. "In case you have forgotten already, Ryuga and Lu soon here don't want to be even more freaked out by how murderous you can be whenever L'Ordre Dionysus is involved considering they have just found out we are killers."
Kyoko blinked and turned to look at Ryuga, lips slightly parted in shock as if she had just remembered he was there. "...Shit. That was not good."
"Y-yeah," Ryuga took a shaky breath, a bitter smile making its way onto his lips. "Worst birthday ever I think."
And then he fainted clean away.
To be honest, they took the whole thing fairly well considering how Hana and I had pretty much screamed at them how we were mafioso, yakuza and in my case someone with mafia super powers.
Taking it well meaning that Lu soon outright called us heartless murderers with wide scared eyes and Ryuga fainting god knows how many times before finally listening to what we had to say with extremely pale faces in Ryuga's room, the sound of the party from downstairs just audible.
"So..." Lu soon eventually began with a hoarse voice. "You are both members of the Bovino family who are in the Italian mafia that are allied with the Momokyokai family who are a yakuza group that you are also a part of because Kyoko is a mafioso dealer by the name of 'Madam Glycerin' and has mafia super powers?"
"...Yeah," I nodded before covering my eyes with my hands. "Look, I know this is hard to take in and I'm sorry you had to learn about this in such a way but I couldn't tell you when it all started."
"I told you that you should have," Hana piped up making me lower my hands to glare at her.
"This is not the fucking time to be joking around."
"I'm serious, you should have told them back then."
"No, I shouldn't hav-"
"You should have," Lu soon interrupted me with a glare that would have been fierce if he didn't look so scared right now. "All this time you've been killing people and not once you thought that maybe we should know?"
"I didn't even want Hana to know! This stuff is too fucking dangerous!" I argued.
"I think that is pretty clear from how you just killed those guys," Ryuga said quietly making me groan and cover my eyes again.
"Don't you dare."
"Dare do what?" Lu soon and Ryuga asked in unison.
"You guys are going to get involved in all of this shit now because you don't want Hana and I to go it alone, am I right?"
"Of course you are fucking right!" Lu soon snatched my hands away from my face and looked me in the eyes. "I might be scared silly right now after seeing you do all of that but there is no way we can let you continue like this with just Hana!"
"Exactly!" Ryuga agreed, crossing his arms. "I'm terrified of you and Hana right now but not as terrified as I am thinking about how you guys have to do that by yourselves all of the time!"
Hana then sighed. "I'm sorry but I actually agree with Kyoko right now. You guys shouldn't get involved really. It was a different matter when we were younger but now Kyoko and I are skilled in fighting whilst you guys are not."
"We can learn!" Ryuga protested loudly, Hana shaking her head again.
"We have both had seven years to become as strong as we are and even then it's usually Kyoko that pulls us both through because she can use illusions. But she can't always look after me and with you guys there too it would become a hell of a lot more difficult."
"In any case, we can't tell Itsuki about you guys." I bit my lip. "I know you need protection now and god knows whether your faces have been leaked already by those guys but getting it from the Momokyokai would be a bad decision."
"Just look where it got me," Hana muttered under her breath but I could tell she wasn't being serious about her words, also deep in thought. "What about the Bovino?"
I frowned, thinking. "That depends. It'll be easy enough to make the illusions of these guys to leave here and the Bovino might agree to giving protection but it would be difficult to persuade them. Remember how Kyoya only got offered sanctuary once because of who I am?"
"I'm their cloud guardian too. If we both ask for this then they will have to agree."
"It might be allowed," I agreed with her, mind racing. "You guys aren't involved in the mafia and crap after all so Itsuki wouldn't be too desperate to get you guys because the only influence you have is that you are friends with us two. But owing Settimo too many favours is not a good idea."
Hana looked me in the eyes. "So, we are going with the Bovino then?"
"Itsuki's going to be fucking pissed when he finds out," I groaned again. "We have to get you guys pretty high up in the Bovino so he doesn't kill you outright."
Ryuga took a nervous gulp of air. "He really would kill us?"
"He's threatened to kill me and I work for him," Hana pointed out before looking at them both seriously. "Look, I'm sorry you guys had to find out about all of this and believe me when I say nothing is going to be the same again. You've already seen part of what this whole world is earlier and it doesn't ever get better. It only ever gets worse."
There was a moment of silence before Lu soon cracked his lips into a terrified smile. "I kinda realized that the minute you guys ran out after us."
"And there is no way you are getting rid of us now." Ryuga added, his lips trying to form a smile but not being able to in the end.
"It isn't a choice of whether you are with us or not," I told them quietly, standing up. "I am so fucking sorry because you just don't know how bad it really gets."
This made Lu soon and Ryuga both shut up and look at the ground, their hands clearly shaking. To my surprise though, it wasn't Lu soon who stopped his shaking first despite having always been mentally stronger in my eyes but Ryuga who stilled his hands, looking back up at me again with clear eyes. "Then we are just going to have to find out aren't we?"
"...There is no light at the end of the tunnel Ryuga." I said quietly, half in disbelief at how strong and determined he was being. I remembered crying like hell after seeing people die but the boy who cried dramatically after killing one ant was sitting there silently, accepting the truth and moving on.
"Then I will build us a light." He stood up suddenly and grabbed my hands. "I'm not letting you do this alone with Hana anymore! We both aren't! Even if we had a choice we would still come with you both! So stop trying to say that it will be hell and that you are sorry this has happened because no place where you two are headed is going to be hell as you don't deserve that! You two never have deserved that and never will!"
I stared at him. "I...I..." I couldn't form words properly. Because the weakest and most idiotic boy I had ever met was standing in front of me and choosing to be strong for mine and Hana's sake. And, although Hana had always deserved that, I hadn't.
"And if Ryuga can't build that damn light then I will break apart the tunnel until the light can come in," Lu soon said quietly as he stood up and placed his hands on both mine and Hana's shoulders. His shaking had stopped. "It's time for you guys to let me and the idiot take over."
At this Hana burst into tears so suddenly that we were all crowding her in panic, Ryuga going back to his idiot self and shrieking like an idiot, Lu soon practically running around in circles without knowing what he should be doing and me trying to find something Twilight-ish to cheer her up. But then I realized that she was smiling and stopped what I was doing. "Y-you think I'm such a-an idiot to let you morons t-take over?" She managed to choke out through her tears, Ryuga and Lu soon both stopping their panicking, the first then putting on a fake pout.
"Honestly Hana, we are trying to be heartwarming and you take it aaaaalll the wrong way!" His lips then stretched into a grin and he mussed up her hair with his hand. "Falling for me yet?" He winked, Lu soon sighing and hitting him lightly over the head.
"Who in their right mind would fall for you?"
"Ooh, calling yourself crazy are you?"
"As soon as I get a gun you are the first person I am shooting."
"No Lulu, I've been itching to do it for years,"I informed him, ignoring the tightness in my throat and the burning in my eyes.
Damn it. I thought I had gotten past all of the waterworks crap already.

Due to budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
I don't like this chapter.
Just putting it out there. I don't like it. Aside from the light at the end of the tunnel thingy. I don't know why, I just don't like it. But the canon plot actually might get here before chapter 45. No, seriously, I thought this would take a hell of a lot longer but apparently not.
I'm gonna have to start thinking about stuff for the canon plot now. More outlining and timelines are needed...
