Dean looked out the carriage window and was shocked to see people lining the sides of the road leading to the castle. They waved and shouted greetings to the new king and queen. Castiel and Ion arranged for their official Coronation to be held after a month of mourning for Abbadon.
Out of respect for Sam's feelings they felt it was the proper thing to do. It would be cutting it very close as Sam would be eight months pregnant but Castiel was confident they would be able to proceed.
Ion had spread the word across the countryside; dignitaries from everywhere would be pouring to see the exciting young couple. With Sam and Dean's permission he even leaked out the story of the Winchesters and their incredible tale of loss, love, and family, everyone was captivated by them and somehow in the grandness of it all the fact they were half brothers was of little importance.
Ion told stories of their triumph over pure evil building Dean up to be one of the biggest heroes anyone had ever heard of. Ion was all dazzling smiles and hearty laughter winning everyone over to the side of the Winchesters. He cared deeply for Sam and Dean and hoped they would someday soon accept his offer to be one family unit taking the change offered them.
Castiel set up a network of support for Sam and Dean, worried they would become overwhelmed. With Dean being so new to their world and Sam so close to giving birth he and Ion wanted their potential pack members to be set up as well as possible.
There was a marriage to dissolve, a coronation to have, two weddings to plan then two births coming, it was a hectic time for everyone.
….
Castiel pointed to the blank line on both documents, "Sign here Sam." Sam signed his name as Sam Winchester for the first time in his life. He was referred to as a Winchester but his official name had been Ecanus.
"That's its darling; we are officially over as husband and wife. You and I are free to marry again." Sam didn't hug Dean first, he hugged Castiel the man that did so much for him, "Cas you were my lover and brother, protector and husband for so long it will feel strange now."
They kissed for a long time until Ion and Dean both became uncomfortable, Castiel broke the kiss. "That will be our last romantic kiss until you and Dean decide if you want to be part of a pack with Ion and I."
Dean slipped his arms around Sam's waist possessively, "Even if that day comes there will be no romantic kissing, these rosy lips belong to me now."
Sam gave him a little kiss on the cheek, "Everything belongs to you now, every inch of my body."
…..
After a month of mourning Sam was more than ready for the coronation, now so heavily pregnant he walked everywhere with his hands bracing his back. Stephan created new clothing for the four of them and then had to work on clothing for two weddings.
He was the official tailor of Ecanus but Castiel had given him an actual staff on the condition he worked on clothing for the Winchesters as well and the young man couldn't have been happier.
…
For the coronation Sam wore a gown the color of spun gold with an open neckline to emphasize his shoulders and expanse of smooth chest beneath his collarbone, Balthazar had made a gold choker set with blood rubies and seed pearls to match his crown.
Dean wore all black with a vest sewn from the material used for Sam's dress plus pearl buttons to match his brother.
Castiel and Ion were honored guests; in fact they were the most important guests there.
Castiel was wearing a new gown in tea rose pink this time, Ion picked out the material personally and asked his mate to grow out his hair a bit. He grudgingly did it for Ion but missed his dashing outfits. Ion wanted roses in his soft male's hair and that was where Castiel put his foot down.
Ion wore all black right down to his suede, knee high boots, his vest was also cut from the material used for Castiels gown. Tea rose pink against the black looked masculine on a man that had not one soft feature about him except for his big, soulful eyes and full lips.
…..
Castiel and Ion sat together holding hands, Ion was so proud of his king in the long pink gown, " Just think, if we are married before you give birth you will have to also wear a dress to our wedding."
Castiel folded his arms over his belly and rolled his eyes toward Ion, "Don't get used to this; as soon as I give birth I'm back in pants." Ion stared straight ahead but his hand creeped its way up Castiels thigh, the gown was so broad in the bottom that no one noticed. He pushed a finger in his mate's ass and left it there then whispered, "So wet today… I know what would fit nicely in there."
Jo sat behind them with Alfie on her arm like a prize. Jo wore a lavender dress and pearl earrings; her blonde hair was piled carefully on her head and woven with flowers.
Alfie was in black with a lavender vest, he felt uncomfortable in the clothing after several years in rags, the fussing seemed over the top to him but he was happy for a safe haven and anything else was inconsequential. The young man found he cared for Jo, she was generous in spirit and had a big heart with a kind word for him every day.
She doted on him like he was her mate, Jo took over his life but he didn't mind. Alfie never had much of one to begin with and if the rest of it was spent with a pretty girl that adored him there were worse things that could happen.
Ion glanced back at the couple and sighed, the boy wasn't who he would have picked for his sister feeling instead Jo needed someone strong like she was but he had to admit, Alfie was attractive and in different circumstance he would have taken him to bed and given the boy a nice mounting.
….
They took pledges, then knelt and were anointed by the Archbishop, Dean looked over at Sam who was staring straight ahead looked incredibly serious and that made Dean smile. The Archbishop droned on and on and soon Dean's mind drifted hoping it would be over soon and he could get on with things that were important.
Sam looked over at Dean and saw him looking bored; the twenty year old who was never properly groomed for ceremonies was trying to amuse himself. Sam reached over and pinched his arm.
"Ouch, damn it Sammy!"
Ions lip twitched and Castiel covered his face, the rest murmured over the outburst but then they continued with the ceremony.
When they were told to rise Dean had to help Sam up then went to get him a chair so he could sit down, not really caring what anyone thought.
They took their oaths of honor and loyalty, the Archbishop asked the court if they accepted them as their king and queen and they all pledged themselves to the Winchesters.
The crowning and the scepters were next and the pair was introduced to crowd. Dean nervously waved to everyone and Sam was radiant, not nervous at all. He gave everyone his beautiful smile then whispered to Dean, "Smile, it's over now and this is a happy occasion. Show them how handsome you look when you're joyous."
Dean plastered on a smile and then the pair went through the long process of greeting the people lined up to honor them. By sunset Sam was exhausted, his feet hurt and the baby was kicking him to death inside. Dean brought him to their lavish bedchamber they now occupied and had a bath drawn for him.
Dean gave him a kiss and squeezed his ass, "Don't worry Queen Sammy I'll take care of the rest, later on I have a scepter you can ride on if you feel up to it."
"Alright my king, if I'm sleeping just roll me on my side and have at it, I'm so slick and ready for you I might not even wake up."
Sam carefully stepped in and sat down in the warm water, a woman sat by to help him if he needed it and Dean left to finish off the evening.
…
Ion looked around and then pulled his mate into an empty room, lifted Castiels dress slipped himself inside holding the king under the arms, "You looked so beautiful today I could hardly stop myself from taking you during the ceremony."
The king held his belly as the knight worked furiously, balls slapping against the tight little bottom until the door opened and a surprised couple stood there, Ion whipped his head around and snapped, "Get out!"
Castiel took the opportunity to pull away and move to a chair, "I'm sorry Ion but I'm so tired."
The knight stood there hard, wild eyed and panting, he closed his eyes and willed himself to calm down then limped over and sat on the arm of the chair, "I'm the one that should be sorry, you rest and I'll work the crowd with Dean."
…
Ion and Dean sat together as people continued to file out and when the last of them were gone they both gave a sigh of relief. "Ion this was insane, so much talking, standing, kneeling and the clothes…I really could do without more of this."
"Get used to it, we have weddings to plan."
"I'm a king can't we just have other people do it?"
"Well of course others will do all the work but still there are some details you have to be involved in."
Ion heard a woman yelling his name; he bolted out the door and ran into a harried looking young lady, "Your king is in labor!"
…
Balthazar was already there just in case he was needed but with Castiel having the wolf inside of him he was able to give birth vaginally as the couple both preferred. Dean was right on Ions heels and when he rushed in after Ion the king was surprised to be faced with female parts.
Castiel was naked, knees up and Ion immediately stripped and sat behind him on the bed allowing his mate to rest against his chest as they held hands.
Castiel gripping so tightly that it was painful, he clenched his teeth and let out a long hiss trying to suppress a scream. The midwives on standby for Sam worked skillfully to make the birth go as smoothly as possible. They were used to working with women but didn't blink an eye at the unusual circumstances. One woman pulled back his male genitals while the other coached the king to breath and push, he was fully dilated and the head was crowning.
Dean pulled the wizard aside, "He's a month early, what will happen to the baby?"
The wizard dressed subdued for once in a long black robe and minimal jewelry. He patted Dean's shoulder reassuringly, "That is why I'm here, I might not even be needed."
Suddenly a piercing scream came as Castiel gave one last push and there he was, a tiny male already crying without any assistance. The woman worked quickly again, but before they could cut the cord Castiel bit it in half. They all stood there in shock but Ion was proud of his little wolf.
He looked at the women, the wizard and Dean, "You all might want to turn away while we do this…it's not pleasant to watch for humans but it's a rite of passage for us."
The all turned away, Dean clutched Balthazar's arm tightly as he heard what sounded like chewing and swallowing, "Oh god …are they eating the baby?"
"No the placenta."
Dean ran out of the room and vomited into a potted plant.
….
The next morning Sam and Dean were having breakfast on the balcony watching everyone below, "Sammy he bit the umbilical cord with his bare teeth and then they ate the placenta!" Dean felt a wave of nausea again but Sam seemed unruffled by it all, "Dean I think that is what wolves do. If I were a wolf wouldn't you share the placenta with me?"
Dean got up and vomited over the railing then yelled, "Sorry" to the unfortunate passerby.
"Well?"
Dean sat back down and pushed away his plate, "I think I'd puke Sam."
Ion walked out onto the balcony, he had never looked so happy. Every bit of starch was gone from his demeanor. "Our son is beautiful! Daniel…his name is Daniel and he's all ours."
He sat down staring out onto the forests of Winchester with a smile still on his face, "You know he is small, born a bit too early but he can cry so loudly. Daniel has blue eyes like Castiel and dark spikes of fluffy hair," he slapped both hands on the table and grinned again, "You both must see him he is perfect!"
…..
Castiel was sitting up in bed with fresh linens; Dean was relieved to see that after last night's horror. Sam sat next to him and took the tiny infant, "Oh Dean, look at him, he is precious."
Ion slapped Dean on the back, "Go on, hold him." Dean frowned down at the squirming bundle and held out his hands, Sam placed Daniel carefully in his hands and Dean held him up. "He's so wrinkled and his eyes are squinty."
Sam snapped, "Dean, rude!"
Dean winched, "Sam you sound like…never mind. Are they all like this?"
Castiel wasn't offended, "Yes, Daniel isn't even a day old Dean." He took him back and sniffed his son, "Ion I believe he's going to be soft like me."
A flicker of disappointment crossed the knight's face but left quickly, "Well those are the most attractive ones, still he can train when he's older. There is no reason a soft male can't learn skills to defend himself along with all of the finer things…Sam taught me that."
Ion took him from his mate, "At least you won't have to battle, go to war or see bloodshed." He kissed the baby's forehead, "I'm proud of him already just for being here."
…
Castiel and Ion traveled home with Daniel and wedding plans for both couples were underway. Dean wondered if Sam would give birth before the wedding could go on but Sam was already prepared. He had two dresses made to fit his body no matter what.
The invitations were sent and in a month a double wedding would take place. The couples decided it would show what a united front they had against the world, between the massive and rich kingdom of Ecanus and the smaller but powerful kingdom of Winchester anyone would be hard pressed to take them both on.
…..
Sam waddled in and sat down next to Dean, he was in their father's room again going through his things still trying to get a sense of the man. Sam sat down and looked around the room, "Dean I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"That you didn't get to know him."
Dean shrugged, "Doesn't matter, does it? He was a cheat, a bully and a drunk, he didn't think twice about abandoning me. I know I sound like a child going over and over this but …but Sam he never looked for me, not once. Your mother told me everything and honestly as bad as Abbadon was I believed her. She said the truth was more hurtful than a lie and it pleased her to tell me everything."
Sam wrapped himself in one of his father's cloaks and stroked the materiel, "When he was dying you know he didn't have to tell me about you. He could have taken it to his grave but father took the risk of my anger and told me everything. I feel that he was sorry…maybe in a way Dean he sensed you were his son."
"So what, he could have found out easily enough!"
Sam smoothed the material of his dress and folded his hands, "Did you ever think he was scared? Dean he was a very young man when his marriage was arranged to mother, think of yourself a bit younger and raised as he was. He had to go through with it no matter what. It sounds romantic to just leave everything and run away with the person you love but in reality it's not that easy."
Dean set the jewelry box on his lap and began trying on rings, "I would have for you Sam…I wanted to take you away but I couldn't get to you," Dean started to cry, "I tried so hard…I did I promise you, I'm not my father. I don't abandon people like he did."
"Dean, remember my birthday where you gave me that beautiful little box?"
"Yes."
"You were hiding and father called out to you, I think on a visceral level he knew who you were. I can say with certainty that he was sorry for what he did and if he would have really known you…Dean you would have been the son he was proud of, not me…not the way I am."
Dean closed the box and looked around the room, "I guess we both have our issues with him, I suppose if he was sorry I can be forgiving."
Sam slowly got up and held out his hand, "When you're ready, let's go through all of this and keep what means the most and donate the rest to the poor. I'm giving away most of mother's things except her jewelry and a small portrait of her. Let's turn their bedchambers into an art room and a place for the wizard to store all his supplies."
That made Dean smile, "You always are a positive person Sam, wise beyond your years. Well we have a wedding to work on so let's get to it."
