CHAPTER 38: Possession

Rnama watched her friend hold her head; her blond hair fell over her face as she deeply sighed in frustration. Rnama felt bad for Antonietta , she was experiencing a serious pickle in her life. They had made Ernesta unconscious to get Antonietta out of her prison which was just Antonietta's room camouflaged into looking like a cell by The Oracle. In her place, Antonietta had left a new little friend that The Oracle had helped the Guardians create called an Astral Drop, The Astral Drop had the memories and stunning likeness of Antonietta; it was like looking at a walking, talking, alive mirror!

At the moment, Antonietta stood in the living room yet again with her friends, the oracle had retreated to his new headquarters with the rest of the council.

"Emilana and Ernesta are looking for the Heart of Candracar."Antonietta sighed as she looked up to her friends. She stretched her face with her hands as she ran them down her face.

"Why does that not surprise me." Rnama rolled her eyes and braided her black long hair.

"Why though?" Xichel asked.

"She doesn't know." Antonietta sighed a deep sigh. There was deep sadness in her eyes.

"I messed up my braid, well then this was a waste of time." Rnama mumbled as she undid her braid to start again from the beginning.

"Ok so we know what it wants then, and we know who it sent to get it." Xichel began to pace around the room.

"Oh, before I left the room and while Ernesta and I were talking I saw she was wearing some jewelry." Antonietta remembered as she dug into her boot and presented her friends with a necklace with a pendent that had a star with 5 points inside a circle made out of silver; In the middle of star there was a purple sphere and the pendant was on a silver chain.

"What is this?" Xichel said as she touched the pendant with her hand, she quickly retreated. The Pendant had caused her hand to burn as if she had just touched a bar of burning iron. She growled and cursed in her native language in pain and held her hand as it sizzled.

"Are you ok?" Kaira asked as she held her hand.

"Yeah it just burned me." Xichel answered in broken English as she held her hand.

"The pendent doesn't look hot, but here I think I can help you."Kaira said as she held her friend's palm open and gently placed her hand just a few centimeters away from the wound. Kaira took a deep breath and rose her hand and a red dim light emerged from Xichel's palm.

"Try and close your palm and see if it still burns." Kaira ordered her friend. Xichel blinked and did as she was told. The mark on her arm wasn't red anymore and her pain had decreased, it was as if Kaira had taken all the extra heat that was placed on her arm.

"Wow, it doesn't hurt as much anymore." Xichel told her friends.

"Afterwards, you need a healing session so that won't turn into a scar Xichel." Antonietta pointed at her friend with her free hand. She was holding the necklace from the end of the chain, which was the reason she had not experienced the pain that Xichel had.

"That necklace doesn't like you." Lin cocked her eyebrows as she got closer to it.

"Wanna touch it?" Antonietta sneered with a playful smirk on her face. Lin turned her cocked eyebrow to face her best friend and cocked both eyebrows.

"Not if you touch it first." She replied. Rnama rolled her eyes on the background as she stayed away from the amulet.

"Can you both stop dilly-dallying and concentrate on the evil necklace." Rnama scowled.

"Rnama is right. What if this is the source of Ernesta's powers like The Heart of Candracar is to us?" Xichel thought.

"I don't think so, Ernesta said The Enemy assigned demons to each." Antonietta's playful expression turned sad once more.

"You should have asked her about the necklace!" Lin groaned.

"Well excuse me, I was to fucken busy to realize she had the damn thing on with her face making all these strange and scary things!" Antonietta crossed her arms making sure that the pendant didn't touch her body. "did you know she could do that with her face?"

"Well-er-yeah." Kaira meekly answered.

"And no heads up about it, thanks ladies." Antonietta sarcastically replied.

"Well then returning to Ernesta, since we already have her why don't we kill her." Kaira asked. Rnama and Antonietta's bodies became stiff.

"That would be easiest since we did take away her pendent." Xichel tought.

"I can't do this to her." Antonietta blurted to her friends. Rnama looked at her with comprehension.

"Why not?" Lin responded as she crossed her arms. "We would have one down and then all we would have to take care of would be Emiliana."

"What do you mean why not? She's my sister and so is Emiliana! Ernesta decided to sell her soul to the Devil himself to save Emiliana from dying!" Antonietta shared.

"But she doesn't even like you, she tried to kill you." Lin said in a low voice without blinking. There was a hint of annoyance in her dark eyes. Rnama had never seen Lin and Antonietta argue this deeply before, they were so close that fighting was never expected of them.

"She is still my sister." Antonietta stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

"When she finds out that you are a Guardian of the Vail, she is going to kill you without hesitation." Lin growled. She looks frustrated, thought Rnama, is that how I always look when Antonietta says something ridiculous?

"But if we help her and Emiliana maybe they can help us defeat the dark one." Antonietta smiled at her friends, Xichel tried not to make any eye contact with her as she leaned on the wall of their living room.

"Don't be stupid Antonietta, can't you see that she has a fucken demon in her." Lin rolled her eyes.

"We can help them." Antonietta shouted back.

"No we can't, remember we are Guardians we have to kill them, don't get away from the mission Antonietta." Lin yelled and tried to restrain herself from slapping her.

"Well I don't want to kill my sisters." Antonietta announced to her friends.

"Enough of this, I'm sorry to say Antonietta but we have to do what we were called to do and if killing them is the answer then we must do it." Xichel told her friends.

"Xichel no, I don't want to kill her." Antonietta turned to her friend in agony.

"It's part of the mission water Guardian, if it calls for the killing of your sisters then we must." Lin ordered her friend.

" You're not the leader to give me any orders Lin, you may be the most experience in the art of fight but you have no right to bark out any orders!" Antonietta growled again as she pushed her friend. Lin reacted and punched her friend in the face. Rnama, Xichel, and Kaira stared in aw at what just had happened.

Oh no things are about to get heavy Rnama thought.

Antonietta toppled over and headed for the floor, but she bended the water from her body and managed to squirt out a fountain of water to her friend, which knocked her over and out of the house creating a small hole. Antonietta managed to get herself up after attacking her friend. Meanwhile, Lin lay on the puddle of water; she held her chest as she realized the pressure of the water was so strong it actually cut her clothes and her chest.

"Stop, stop fighting!" Xichel shouted as she ran to Lin in her aid.

Lin didn't want any compassion or any help, she got up pretending not to care that her clothes were bloody and with her arms she blasted an air cannon towards Antonietta. Antonietta gasped as the cannon hit her hard and rolled her to the other side of the house, she looked like a mannequin as she hit the floor.

"Stop fighting Stop it!" The rest of the Guardians yelled in agony as they witnessed a fight that shook their home and caused several holes in it.

Antonietta and Lin threw all their abilities they could as their hatred grew and grew. At a point, Lin managed to pin down Antonietta to the ground and Antonietta kicked her, dropping her, and getting on top of her while holding on to her neck.

"Enough!" Xichel roared in anger as she stole energy from the bodies of both Antonietta and Lin. Antonietta toppled over her friend as she lost her vision, she couldn't see!

"What did you do? I can't see!" Lin shouted as she touched her eyes. Antonietta felt the ground before her as she crawled around.

"Xichel return their eyesight." The Oracle appeared and ordered their leader. Xichel nodded and produced an electrical move which hovered over both Guardians and into their eyes. Their eyes turned from grey to their original brown and sea blue.

"How did you do that?" Rnama whispered to her leader. Xichel looked back at their horrified faces and mouthed the word: Oracle.

"This is ridiculous! " The Oracle began as his face turned bright red from anger "get up."

Both Guardians listened from the order of the highest being in the room but kept their sights away from his gaze.

"I cannot believe what I just witnessed; if Xichel would not have stopped you I know you would have killed each other." The Oracle barked. It was the first time any of the Guardians had witnessed him so angry. He ran his hand over his brown hair and then walked toward them; Cero was not with him.

"Oracle Lin started it." Antonietta stuttered as she pointed at her friend. Lin furrowed her eyebrows and glared at her friend but said nothing; instead she let her hair completely loose since during their small battle her bun had become undone.

"It does not matter who started it, between the Guardians there should be peace and unity." The Oracle stated as his face began to return to his normal color.

"Oracle they are asking me to kill my sisters! I cannot do that!" Antonietta yelled as tears formed in her eyes. "How can I be peaceful if I am being asked to kill someone."

"Antonietta there is no other way, we cannot help your sisters, they have a deal with someone we cannot break their deal, you girls have to stop them at any means necessary before they kill you." The Oracle explained in a peaceful tone.

"But they are my sisters, I guess none of you understand because this is not happening you all of you." Antonietta hissed at her friends.

"I understand." Rnama whispered from the background as she looked down at the floor. "if that was my sister Mumtaz I don't know what I would do."

For the first time in her life, Antonietta felt confused that Rnama was not the one attacking her, she was actually on her side.

"I am deeply sorry Antonietta you are dealing with this right now, I wish things would be different." Rnama continued as she walked up to her fellow Guardian and placed her hand on her shoulder.

"Its ok, I guess you are right. There is only one way to end this-" Antonietta sighed.

"Well, well, well, I was right there was something strange going on." A voice hissed from behind them. Everyone gasped to see Cero was standing before them, but there was something strange about how he looked. On bald head, there looked as if there was an animal crawling deep inside his skin which moved from his frontal lobe to the back of his head. He still wore his usual white Candracardian robe but even so, he did not look so peaceful as he used to.

"Cero." The Oracle gasped. He then held his head on his arm as an ominous feeling coming from him. The Guardians remained in their place until Xichel dared to take two steps forward in a cautious manner, she then put her hand in front of her to feel the energy around him. His energy was demonic.

"He's been possessed." Xichel trembled as she backed away. In the split of a second that Xichel had spoken Cero's eyes turned black and he grabbed Xichel with an invisible force to only throw her out of the whole that Antonietta had created.

"Air!" Lin shouted as she quickly jumped and blew a large gust of wind at the possessed Cero. Cero flew onto the dark hallway.

Rnama and Kaira ran to Xichel's aid while The Oracle, Lin, and Antonietta stood in battle position waiting for Cero to appear. Suddenly, Cero flew out of the dark like a puppet and crashed onto the floor with his eyes closed.

"Cero!" Antonietta ran to him but as she ran, she felt the dark force try and enter her body. She screamed in horror as the dark force took over her body and move her hands. She had lost all control over her body and all she could do was watch as the demon used her.

"Antonietta." Rnama cried, tears fell out of her eyes as she saw her fellow Guardian act like animal. Her blond hair hid her face except for her right eye which turned pitch black.

"Release the Water Guardian and you will be spared." The Oracle threatened.

Antonietta laughed in an ominous way and started speaking a language which no one could understand. She stood up right like a human only to walk in a crooked manner up to the Oracle's face.

"Make. Me." The Demon cackled in front of The Oracle's face and then walked away to its original spot."I knew there was something strange about this-this- Antonietta girl. When I realized she was in the corner, I knew she was a dirty Guardian. Oh and by the way, that Astral Drop might have tricked Ernesta, but not me."

"Let Antonietta go!" Xichel yelled as she revealed the shining Heat of Candracar.

"Hm, there's the jewel The Master was looking for, I'll make you a deal Quintessence Guardian." The Demon said as he sat on the floor.

"What would that be?" Xichel replied.

"Let my puppet go and I'll let your friend go." The Demon said plain and simple.

"Puppet?" Rnama wondered.

"Puppet, human, they are both the same to me." The Demon shrugged.

"Ernesta." Lin assured as she kept her guard up.

"Yes, her." The Demon said again. "Well, do we have a deal?"

The Guardians looked at each other in puzzled and grim faces; they then turned their attention to The Oracle who turned to Xichel. The Oracle gave Xichel a small nod and then closed his eyes. Xichel walked forward and signaled Lin and Kaira to follow her crossing The Demon as it still inhabited their friend's body. When they crossed it, they felt a disturbing chill fill their bodies and their souls. Xichel guided her friends to Antonietta's room where Ernesta was being kept.

Xichel opened the room to find Ernesta staring at them with a smirk on her face, she knew what was going on.

"Come for a visit?" Ernesta sneered.

Xichel and the rest remained quiet as they grabbed their enemy by her clothes and dragged her to the living room. Ernesta sustained her smirked face even as she was being dragged across the floor. It was getting later at night as the fog had begun to roll in to their home through the two gaping holes. Rnama held a rock on her hand as she saw Ernesta being pulled in and thrown in front of Antonietta.

"There is your puppet, let Antonietta go." Xichel told the Demon. The Demon did not look pleased.

"Not quite, she's still under the Oracle's spell. Release her from it." The Demon said as he looked at Ernesta.

The Oracle stepped forward and swiped his hand over the white energy which held down the Dark Guardian, it then disappeared letting her free.

Ernesta picked herself up and looked at Antonietta, Antonietta looked at her sister and then fell to the floor, immobile.

"Emiliana will look forward to this little family reunion." Ernesta sighed as she jumped a little, the demon had returned to her body. "Until next time and by the way I know you're in London."

Ernesta then disappeared into the night.
