Cavin turned the speaker system off. She was still screaming. Hadn't stopped and it was starting to get on his nerves. He checked the readings. She was more powerful than he thought. Brilliant! That made her even more valuable. He smiled.
He knew exactly who would want her. He picked up the com device attached to the console and dialed in the number.
"Colonial Zander," he greeted when the other man picked up. "Are you still searching for a power sourced for your military base?"
The Colonial had been amassing an army, training them for war, but not just war against one planet, one president, a war against all the colonies. A play for power. None of that mattered to Cavin. What mattered to him was who could pay the most and he knew with Zander's backers he could pay the high price Cavin wanted. And for something as powerful as that girl Zander would be more than happy to fork over the money, least one of his enemies got their hands on her.

The console dinged. The Doctor looked at the scan. What? There was power spike on the other side of town. He hadn't been looking for power fluctuations. He was trying to find Rose.
"What is it?" the Master demanded.
"Just a power spike. A very high spike, but-" the Doctor began.
The other Time Lord struggled in his handcuffs as if he might somehow reach the console.
"That's her," the Master exclaimed.
"Sorry?" he asked, eyeing the other Time Lord.
"That power spike. That's her."
"What do you mean, that's her?"
It was a power spike, albeit a very high power spike, but not Rose. That couldn't be her. He glanced at the reading. No, definitely not.
"The guy who took her. He was searching for a power source. That's why he took her. He must be testing her."
"Power source? Why would he…" and then he knew. The Time Energy. What she became. She could be used as a power source and to a trader…Oh. This was extremely not good. He started flipping levers and turning dials. If he could get a location he could pilot the TARDIS to her. Find her.
"Doc, what're you doing?" Jack asked.
"Trying to get a fix on the location of that power spike. If I can, I can take us to her."
If that really was her and the trader found out…fear coursed through him. No, he couldn't let that happen. Couldn't let that trader leave with her.

Cavin hung up. Zander was more than interested. Now all he had to do was…the console sparked. What? He spun around. It sparked again. The lights on the console went out. Then the overhead lights flickered and they went out too. What the hell? He looked through the window.
The girl was slumped over. No. No, she couldn't be dead. He raced through the door and into the room. He was too close to getting everything. More money than he ever dreamed possible. He raced over to her, taking the metal band off her head. Her eyes were closed. He felt for a pulse. It was steady, but something happened.
He unstrapped her legs and then her arms. He had to get her to sick bay. Find out if there was something wrong with her. Zander wouldn't pay for her in this condition. Her eyes snapped open and suddenly his mind felt like it was burning. He screamed, doubling over, grabbing at the sides of his head.

"Found her," the Doctor exclaimed, locking onto the location.
He flipped the lever for the Time Rotor and it began to move. He had no idea what waited aboard that ship, but it didn't matter. He had save her no matter what it cost.
"Un-cuff me so I can help," the Master demanded.
Jack laughed.
"Yeah, because that's going to happen," the man scoffed.
"I want to help."
The Doctor eyed the other Time Lord.
"I don't need your help," the Doctor said.
"You can't do this. She's mine."
His? He was mad.
"Sorry?" he asked, almost smiling at the absurdity of the Master's claim. Almost because most of him wanted to throttle the other Time Lord or drop him into the Void. Now, that was an idea.
"You left her. You abandoned her. I found her. I took care of her."
Anger coursed through the Doctor. He hadn't abandoned her. He wanted her to have a life, a human life with a man who would age with her. He didn't know she wasn't human anymore. If he had he wouldn't have left her. If he'd known about her child, their child…He ran his hand over his forehead.
"Took care of her?" Jack snapped. "I saw where you were keeping her."
"I had to protect her. That woman would've sold her. I was there. You weren't," the Master snapped, eyeing the Doctor.
He didn't care what the Master thought he did. The other Time Lord hadn't been trying to protect her. He wanted to use her. To use her against the Doctor or for his own gain. The Time Lord wasn't sure which, didn't really care.
"I told you," the Doctor growled, eyeing the Master. "You aren't going anywhere near her ever again. She's not yours. She never was."
"What are you going to do? Kill me?"
He crossed the room and leaned toward the other man.
"If I have to," he replied in an even voice.
"You never would."
The Doctor bent down and gazed into the Master's eyes.
"So, sure about that, are you?" he asked.
The other Time Lord caught his gaze. His eyes widened in surprise with a hint of fear. The man who never would died a long time ago.
"You…you've changed," the Master whispered.
"Yes. I have," he replied, standing up and walking back to the console.
The Master laughed, drawing the Doctor's attention. He gave the other Time Lord a sideways glance.
"Does she know?" the other Time Lord asked. "No, of course she doesn't because she hasn't seen you since you left her standing on that beach with a copy of yourself."
The Doctor shook his head.
"It doesn't matter," he dismissed
He flipped a lever. No, she didn't know who he was, everything he'd been through, but that could be sorted out later. He had a family now. Something to live for and he could change, with her help he could be better. Because that's what she did, what she'd always done. Made him want to be a better man and he could do that again.
"Which part? Leaving her behind or her not knowing that you've changed?" the Master sneered.
"Both," he replied.
"So sure about that, are you?"
He glanced at the Master, doubt creeping through his mind for the first time since he found out about Violet. Would she be able to love him after everything he'd done? He sighed and rubbed his forehead. It didn't matter. He'd save her and then go from there. He wouldn't force her to stay, like the Master had. If she chose to leave he'd let her, but he wasn't sure if he could survive that. He flipped another lever and the TARDIS began to materialize aboard a ship.
