Aunt Molly's POV
"Now is your opportunity—go!" the voice in my head prodded. He had been talking to me throughout my change, instructing me on what I needed to do. "Go and find your sweet girl."
I silently darted through the castle in search of my sweet girl. I located a staircase at the back of what looked like a kitchen, and climbed the stairs. I could read the minds of her captors. They were both imagining the vile things they could do to Bella. Their lascivious thoughts were nauseating.
Then there were Renee's thoughts. She was the worst. She was fixated on some guy named Stefan. She couldn't understand why he wanted an unwilling Bella when he could have her willingly. To make matters worse, she was jealous of Bella's beauty, and she kept trying to come up with ways to hurt her—to permanently maim her face. Who the heck thought it would be a good idea to make her a mother?
Then again, without her, I wouldn't have had a daughter to dote upon. I loved Isabella with everything I had in me. She was a child to me as much as Quil was, and no one messes with my children.
Upon reaching the landing, I spotted another set of stairs and quickly rushed up them. I located the room where Bella was being held. I peeked inside the room. Bella was sitting on a large canopy bed and had cocooned herself in her shield. She appeared unharmed, but was glaring at her captors. On their knees, in front of the bed, were the pipsqueak Alice and the malicious Renee—both clad in skimpy lingerie—and an evil, dark haired vampire, whom I assumed was Stefan.
"I am tired of this, Isabella! I am ordering you to remove your clothes and submit to me," Stefan ordered. He tried to slap her across her face, but he couldn't get past her shield. "Ouch!" he cried.
Bella didn't react. She simply continued glaring at the three idiots who were clearly perplexed as to how to deal with her.
I could read in Stefan's mind that he was used to having his orders followed.
It was now or never.
"What are you doing here?" Alice asked as she spotted me. She leered at me with her evil eyes.
I didn't reply to her. I had no reason to. "Alis-Maria, who is this? Why didn't you see this intruder coming?"
"I…I don't know, master. I couldn't hear her coming. I swear!" She started shaking and shivering in fear. "She should have been changing still! I don't know why she is awake."
"I asked you who she is!"
"She's a distant aunt of my daughter's through my first marriage," Renee answered for Alice. "She's been a thorn in my side since Isabella was born." "She is the one who was changing in the cage earlier?" he asked.
"Yes, master," Alice squeaked.
He turned to address me. "You are a newborn then." His eyes traversed the length of my body and he lasciviously licked his lips. "You are beautiful. You will soon learn to submit. Remove your clothes."
"Excuse me! I am a married woman! I don't remove my clothes in front of strange men, particular in front of sexual predators!"
"You will learn to submit to me, newborn!" He reached out to slap me, but I didn't feel the sting. He didn't have the chance to make contact because Bella had climbed onto his back and decapitated him with her bare hands.
"No, Master!" Renee cried and grabbed Bella from her perch atop the headless body. She punched her daughter a few times across the face.
"Don't you hit her, Renee!" I yelled and flung her into a wall. The wall shattered and Renee ended up in another room, which looked like some sort of sexual torture chamber.
Meanwhile, I saw Bella going after Alice, who had jumped out of a window. I decided to concentrate on killing Renee. This woman had no business being on this earth—as a human or vampire. She needed to die.
Renee grabbed some sort of a whip and started flinging it around in an attempt to hit me. I dove like a wrestler and grabbed hold of her legs, behind her kneecaps, causing her to lose her balance. I punched her several times for good measure, and was about to decapitate her when I realized I had no idea how. Do I just twist her head off? What do I do?
Renee took my moment of inattention to get the upper hand. She kicked me off of her and yelled, "You need to die, bitch, for making my life miserable."
"Your life? Think of what you did to Isabella! She is the child you birthed." "She was a pain in the ass from the moment she was born—always crying, needing to be fed, to be changed. She should have been aborted, but nooo—the doctor told me it was too late to get rid of her and that I had to have her. The bitch ruined my life."
"How can you talk about your own daughter that way? How? She was a baby, Renee? Babies need to be cared for and nurtured." Renee flung a large padded bench at me. I was shocked when I deftly caught it. No more talking. She was a crazed, loon and she needed to die. Now, how do I decapitate her?
"If you didn't want Bella, why didn't you leave her with Charlie?" I asked in an attempt to stall her. "Are you kidding me? She was my meal ticket out of Forks."
Anger and rage overcame me. I tackled Renee. We both hit, scratched, kicked, and punched each other. Suddenly, she got the upper hand and was behind me, one hand positioned under my chin and the other on top of my head. Clearly, someone had taught her how to decapitate vampires.
I closed my eyes and readied myself to die when I heard a cheery voice state, "Oh, no, honey. That's not how you do it. Let me show you. Come over here. Come here," she encouraged.
Renee dropped me instantly and walked towards Heidi. She seemed unable to resist her commands. "Down on your knees in front of me, sweetie. Keep looking into my eyes so you'll know what to do."
Heidi, with one finger, motioned for me to come to her. As soon as I got to her side, she said, "I'm giving Renee a lesson in proper head decapitation. Will you assist me?"
"Of course," I told her, still unsure of what was going on. This was almost like a classroom with Heidi as the schoolteacher.
"Now, the most important thing is to take the opportunity to rough her up a bit." Heidi slapped Renee then punched her nose. "Would you like to try, Molly?"
"Yes," I replied happily.
"No, stay where you are, Renee," Heidi instructed, while I slapped and punched her twice. "That's enough, Molly. Now, there are several ways to decapitate a vampire. I'm going to teach you all of them. First, I would like for you to stand behind the decapitée."
"Sure."
"Don't worry, Renee, be patient. I promise you'll get your chance." She smiled kindly at her, staring straight into her eyes.
Renee nodded obediently at Heidi.
"Now, Molly, place the crook of your right elbow under Renee's chin and cup her left ear with your right hand." Heidi paused to check my positioning and nodded encouragingly. "Now, take your left palm and place it on her forehead as if you're checking for a baby's temperature."
"Like this?" I asked.
"Perfect, just make sure you have a secure hold." I tightened my grip. "Okay, now this is the most important part of the lesson. Renee, honey, you need to stay on your knees and keep looking into my eyes." To me, she said, "Now, Molly, give her head a little twist, then pull back and up." I did as she asked and Bella's birth mother's head swiftly snapped off. "Excellent, you've just separated Renee's brain stem from her spinal cord." Heidi stopped and gasped. "Oh, dear, I don't have a lighter, do you?" She held her arms open for me. I dropped the head and body and stepped into her arms. "Don't ever run away from me like that again! Do you understand me?"
"Thanks for the decapitation lesson."
"Anytime. Now, where's Bella?"
"She went after Alice."
"Crap. Alright, we need to torch Renee's body."
"Stefan is next door. Bella decapitated him."
She looked through the massive hole in the wall. "I can see that." She sighed. "First rule of vampirism, torch the bodies of the bad guys after you decapitate them."
"Got it."
She took Renee's body and head and flung them together with Stefan's. She rolled all the body parts into the large velour blanket covering the king sized bed and dragged the bundle behind her.
In the hallway, we ran into Garrett. "Honey, we need a lighter for these parts."
"The incinerator is in the basement. Sorin and his werewolves are manning it. The castle is completely secure.
"It is? How did that happen?"
"Maria had the succubi and the sirens lure everyone out into the woods where everyone has been waiting to take action."
"So, what's going on outside then?" I asked.
"A battle. We're winning. We have the advantage of the element of surprise."
"But Bella jumped out the window to chase after Alice," I told them. "We have to help her."
"Well, then, Alice is in for a surprise because she is going to die."
Bella's POV
"Get over here, you little runt!" I yelled as I chased her into the forest. I had shed the ridiculous robe I had been wearing and was back in my regular street clothes. Alice jumped into a tree, but I was able to grab one of her legs and pull her down. I immediately put her into a chokehold and slammed her head up against the tree several times.
"How dare you? How dare you mess with people's lives just to further your fucked up agenda? Who the hell made you judge and jury over everyone?" I asked.
"Go ahead, Bella! Kill me! Kill me now! I have nothing to live for! My mate is dead. Your wolves killed my mate!"
"The wolves did not kill Charlotte. No, no, it was a vampire who dealt the final blow."
"Impossible, I would have seen it. Is there another shield? Which vampire killed my Charlotte?"
"As if I'd tell you. Charlotte needed to die. She had committed too many sins against humanity, but not as many as you have."
"I did what I did for the sake of my masters! Can't you see? They were trying to create a paradise for vampires—one in which we would all live in without the nuisance of humans or other supernatural creatures." "I happened to enjoy being human, you bitch!"
"You can blame Peter then since he's the vampire who changed you."
"No, I blame you for interfering in my life since I was a baby!" I lost control and punched her several times on her face, body, everywhere. "I had a wretched childhood because of you! You made it your mission to inflict misery upon me! Why? Answer me? Why?" She was flailing wildly beneath me while I continued hitting her.
"B…B…Be…Because," she rasped, "because I saw that you would eventually bring peace to our world. You're the answer, you always have been, but that's never going to happen because you and your coven killed Charlotte. I don't give a damn anymore because my mate is dead. I really couldn't care less about any sort of peace because I no longer have anyone to love."
"You would have been able to keep your love had you not been so atrocious to everyone else. You and your so-called love were never able to love each other fully because you destroyed so many other lives. We all have a price to pay, Alice. What I don't understand is why you felt it was within your rights to rake so many people over the coals. Why, Alice? Why was it okay to destroy so many Quileute families by stealing their loved ones? Why did you feel that it was okay to allow Stefan and Vladimir to rape and use women for their own twisted self-gratification?"
"You're concerned about women? All women are worthless! Don't you understand? We were born to serve men and bear their children. The most worthless women are female vampires because they cannot have children."
"I don't agree with you, Alice. I don't know how you came to that twisted way of thinking, but women are not worthless. Everything living has value. Even you, Alice."
"I do not have value. Look at me? Look at me closely, Bella! I am small, pathetic, and ugly! I have no assets to attract men like you or Rosalie! I used to have a gift, but that doesn't even work anymore, and I was assigned a female for a mate so I was not free to love her! My masters forbade it!"
"I'm sorry that you were not given the freedom to love how you pleased, I truly am. You know, the fact that you were able to love someone made you special. There are some people in the world who die never knowing how to love. And Alice, I don't mean physical love. I mean love—pure and simple. I mean the type of love in which you only want the best for someone and you're willing to sacrifice your life for them. You were able to love Charlotte—that gives you value.
I heard applause coming from behind me. I looked down at Alice and saw her eyes widen in fear. I stood up to find Vladimir leering at me with his evil eyes.
"That was truly a beautiful speech, Isabella," he sniggered. "Unfortunately, you're feeding Alis-Maria false information. And now that I know that Alis-Maria and Charlotte were mates, she must die."
"You have to get through me first."
"No." He laughed. "No, no, no…I have plans for you, my dear goddess. You will do your job and help to create a single race, after all, you were put on this earth for that sole reason! Vampires are at the top of the food chain for a reason: we are the best because we have the best in human and animal qualities—intelligence, quick reflexes, enhanced hearing and vision—this is why God put us at the top."
"Oh, yeah? If we're at the top, how come we need blood to survive? The fact that we have to take lives in order to keep ours puts us towards the bottom. We're predators—plain and simple. Why vampires exist, I have no idea."
"Vampires exist because I, Vlad Dracul, put us here! It has always been my dream to create a world in which we rule—one race, one world of vampires and our beautiful offspring. A world filled with women to serve us and bring us pleasure. A world in which all the wealth of the world was in our control." "Well, there was one thing wrong with your plan. In order for women to bring you pleasure, you need them to come willingly to you. If you have to scare them into submission, frighten them into giving their bodies to you, then it's called rape—not pleasure. As for the wealth of the world—you can't have that which you did not earn, bucko!"
Vlad's face contorted into one of anger. He let out a furious roar and then flung me violently into a tree. I heard a crack where my head hit and was overcome with severe pain. I heard Alice crying, "Nooooo!" and then diving onto Vlad's back in order to decapitate him, but he easily shoved her off of him.
And then I saw him. Peter—my knight in shining armor. He took Vlad Dracul by surprise, and with his incredible strength and power, he easily ripped him apart. I saw Alice start a pyre using Vlad Dracul's parts. She turned to me and whispered, "Thank you, Bella. You really are a beautiful creature. I'm going to my Charlotte now," before diving into the pyre. Then things started becoming fuzzy. The pain from where I bumped my head increased tenfold. I blinked furiously to try to regain focus, but some sort of white light blinded me.
The last thing I remember was hearing Peter desperately call my name over and over again.
