Welcome to Chapter 38. One full chapter to go + the Epilogue.
Even though his efforts were admirable, Zachary's spell didn't seem to change a thing to Lucy's body. Loke looked over to the twin's bodies, Kiarely looked as though she was not breathing. Meanwhile Zacky's lungs were inflating and flaring rapidly.
The battle seemed to aimlessly continue other wise, the guards kept flooding in the room. They were easily being defeated by Erza's magic abilities. Loke spotted a little mage, using sound magic to defend an armless mage who was using fire abilities to wipe away the enemies. Loke took a moment to realise it was Elanie, she was alive, which made him smile. At least she is okay...
Gray managed to finally stand, his body weak. He clutched his chest, looking over his shoulder to Juvia who was tirelessly fending off any guard that so much as tried to attack her partner. Laxus seemed to blast away anyone who tried to attack Mirajane and Lisanna, who themselves had somehow found the strength to fight on. Elfman came crushing in, his beast soul trampling on the people below who were not friends or guild members. Loke tiredly tried to stand, his body could not take the strain. He couldn't move much more than he had done. Natsu tried to help him up, him too getting over the affects of Obadiah's powers.
"Leave me be, I have to go back eventually." Loke whispered, his vocal cords giving out.
Natsu glared down on him, "You think I am gonna' let you go back to the Spirit World without seeing Lucy come back? You're crazy." He seemed suddenly amused, he may be weakened, but Natsu showed no tiring of continuing to look on the bright side of things.
"Natsu..." Loke coughed, "I haven't any magic energy left to stay."
"Then that King of yours better lend you some strength, or he is no King at all!" Natsu flared, "You and Lucy are meant to be together, and if you can't even stay long enough to see her back in her own skin, then what kind of person are you?"
Loke winced, ask the Spirit King for energy? That's something I've never heard of, let alone tried.
Natsu grinned, "Okay, then I'll give it a try." Grabbing both sides of Loke's collar, he shook him back and forth yelling at him. "Hey Spirit King, can't ya' see that Loke here needs to stay in this world for a little longer? Be a true man and lend him some power will ya'?"
Loke rolled his eyes, "I don't think it works like that, Natsu..."
Old friend...what is the meaning of this?
"You gotta' be kidding me!" Loke widened his eyes, looking around for the King, but he was nowhere to be found. He blinked several times, dazed.
Something about giving you some...power? The King hinted for him to explain.
"Uh..." Loke bit his lip, "Well, I mean, if you wouldn't mind."
Why? He sounded annoyed.
"Lucy, my owner sir. She's been...possessed, as it were." He sighed, "I've run out of energy personally, but you could lend me some. Since I promised that I would save her and everything..."
Ah, I see. You would be breaking a major law if you were to come back here, am I correct?
"Sir." Loke mumbled, nodding to himself. Still confused with what was going on.
I can't allow that, now can I? He seemed to be rather amused by the situation. Loke could breathe knowing that he wasn't pissed off by waking him. Leo the Lion, for one time only, I will give you enough magic energy to continue your pledge to save your owner. Once matters have died down, please return as your time in the Human World is almost up.
Loke rolled his eyes, that stupid new law.
"Thanks... uh, your highness" Loke muttered softly.
He was gone, but something overcame Loke's body like a flash of lightning. His bones seemed to heal, sealing back together. The aches and pains in his muscles and joints seemed to ease and disappear completely. Scratches and bruises over his face and on other places of his torso vanished as well. The power of the Celestial Spirit King seemed to heal him as well as fuel him with magical power. Loke slowly stood up, still unsure how far the healing process would go. He seemed perfectly fine, though. Which both shocked and confused him and Natsu.
"Now that's a King right there." Natsu smirked.
Loke looked at his hand, the scratches and bruises on his knuckles and fingers vanished in front of him. Smirking to himself, he clenched his fist a flow of spinning golden particles swept through his fingers as Regulus immersed through his body. He looked past his tinted glasses that were cracked, taking them off and throwing them to the floor. "Let's do this, Natsu."
"I got your back," Natsu replied, his smile was hungry for something to sustain his excitement. He brought up his fist, grabbing a lit tree root. Sucking off the flames into his mouth and swallowing it, wincing. "Disgusting, but thanks for the meal."
Loke chuckled at the guards running towards them with vigor, "I'm all fired up." His voice carried throughout the hall, some of the guild mates smirking towards him, happy to see him up and fighting. Loke's hand glowed a bright light of gold, he brought his fist upwards behind his head, yelling as loud as he was able. "Regulus! BLAST!" He threw his arm forward just as Natsu roared flames that could possibly scorch the heavens.
The second round of the battle had begun.
Obadiah watched, astounded as Lucy's body stood from the blast. Her body still the same as before. Caine's powers were still within her glorious vessel. Obadiah was happy, seeing her succeeding in their plans. It seemed that whoever ran to the girl's body, they would be flown backwards with so much as a flick of her finger. Even when that red haired mage with immense strength attempted to take her down, all Caine had to do was flick her fingers and she was flown backwards by Dark Spirit Magic.
She was going to win, and the Fairies were going to lose. How gloriously delicious it tasted on his tongue to know that they were going to win. His views, his dreams, all of them would come true. Dark magic would conquer the world, he would be beside Lucy, an eternal mate. Together, they would rule.
Obadiah stood, walking to her. "My love, you have awakened."
Caine stared at him, "Obadiah." She said coldly, "I am surprised you are still awake." Her voice was nothing but ice.
Obadiah let out a nervous chuckle, "The power of our eternal love has given me the strength to carry on, my dear." He held her hand, it was cold like her soul now was.
"Love." Caine tasted the words, before she knew that the word would've tasted like apples on the tongue. But now, it tasted like a bitter piece of chocolate. It was reminiscent of purity, yet it was still displeasing to the taste buds. Her eyes drifted to the Lion Spirit, who was standing, shockingly. Throwing his powerful beam of Regulus to anyone who dared to attack him. He didn't look in Lucy's direction once. Maybe the Lion Spirit found it too disturbing to now look at the woman he once loved. Or still loves.
"Love is for fools, its why this one got caught so easily." Caine mumbled to herself, looking to Obadiah and smirked. "It is why you're so weak, Obie." She giggled, "Giving such a name to yourself, thinking it would strengthen your ego?" She laughed, "How disgraceful."
Obadiah seemed hurt by her words, it caused a few people to look their way. Uneasy by the feeling of growing magic energy that came from Lucy's form. She gave a smug smile to him, her eyes narrowed in an amused way. A very dark humorous way. "Lucy wanted you dead, I can't blame her. I've wanted nothing more for the past twenty years, Obie." She put a finger to her lip, "The idea of you squirming makes me tingle."
Obadiah fumed silently, he found his hand clench at his sides. "You can't do this." Everyone heard the slight childish tone to his voice, as if he was whining about not being able to eat the last cookie in the jar. Everyone seemed to be shocked to the point of standing still. Loke glared in Caine's direction. Knowing exactly what that Spirit was thinking.
"I can do what I please!" She laughed, her eyes wide, her mouth hung wide. She looked insane. She looked like she had never looked. Not Lucy. This was Caine, and she was insane. She held out her pinkie finger and index finger, her other fingers clenched away. She brutally swept her hand across her face. Obadiah flew to the wall on the other side of the wall. Natsu who was just beside him, looked from the new hole on the wall, to Lucy.
Caine walked across the room, giggling manically to herself. Her expression hadn't changed, once. "I am Caine, the goddess of strength and war! I make people quake when my name is even mentioned! I am powerful, and beyond all - I am unstoppable!" She held out her hand, palm upwards. "I have no use for you anymore!"
Obadiah was quick to react, he leaped upwards. Throwing his arm forward, he yelled "Dark Spirit Magic, Kufa Papo!"
Caine let the spell hit her, chuckling as it tried to find a way to enter her body. The death spell tingled, but did not kill her. Obadiah gulped, looking helpless. Loke watched, frozen, as he saw Lucy's body, arm still extended, clench her fist. Her eyes suddenly blood red, "Death Wave!"
Loke widened his eyes, darting over to Erza and Wendy. Pushing them out of the way and jumping away from the extended wave of the spell as well. Everyone seemed to follow the same idea, pushing everyone out of reach of the spell. The wave shot forward from Lucy's body, like a flood is rushed forward. Obadiah seemed to be completely frozen on the spot as the spell lapsed and crushed into him.
Caine's laugh was like a curse in itself. It echoed through the entire wolf shaped cave, soldiers who still lived whilst on the floor outside, could hear it. It was haunting, it was disheartening. "DEAD!" She cackled, "Oh my! I didn't think it would be that easy!" She laughed so hard she had to steady herself by putting her hands on her thighs. "Obadiah the great, finally dead!" Her head cocked backwards, her laughing continued.
Her laugh suddenly cut off. Her eyes widening even further than before, she started to choke. Her body shaking violently. Everyone was awestruck by what they were seeing. Zachary winced as she leant on his elbow in hopes he could see what was happening. Grinning weakly to himself as he saw that his spell had finally took affect. Lucy had found the Queen. Thank God Queen Luna accepted the task, other wise they would've been screwed.
Caine could feel sweat bead down the body of this human she had possessed. She was pressing within her soul, punching and kicking with all her might. She was trying to get out. She seemingly couldn't give up. No matter how strong Caine was, that didn't seem to down the attempts of the Celestial Mage. Her cunning spirit seemed to overthrow the damaged blackened one that Caine had made for herself for almost a thousand years. She wiped her face, sweat dripping from her temple.
"Damn it! You little bitch, what're you doing!" Caine's own voice was suddenly separated from Lucy's voice box. Swallowing hard, Caine realised that the mage must've gotten help to get this far. How... Where could she get such help from?
Lucy found herself screaming at the light Luna told her to find within herself, finding it was a struggle, but to keep the strength up to continue fighting against Caine was exhausting. Her voice was strained, but she managed to finally break through the barrier and speak. "I want to live! I need to live, because I have people who love me! That's the one big difference between us Caine! I have love, and you! ALL YOU HAVE IS HATE!"
Caine screamed loudly, clutching at the scorching feeling in her heart. Her throat ached as black smoke started to seep from it. Pressing herself further, Lucy tried again, trying to break through permanently.
"I won't allow hate to run this world! A world full of hate is a world not worth living!" She gripped the dirt under her fingers, thankful that she was able to control her arms and legs. "That's why I am allowed to finally use this last spell!" Her voice seemed to carry out further than Caine's laugh from before. Lucy managed to put two fingers to her chest, both in the Pixie Spirit World and in the Human World. "Light Spirit Summon!" Caine widened her eyes, trying to struggle against the spell. "The Queen of the Pixie's! Luna Adalberht!"
A white orb went around Lucy's body, it carried her upwards into midair. Everyone's gaze followed it. Loke felt his heart break and rebuild all at once. His eyes filling with tears as he could tell that his love had not given up one something had both cherished. I'm so proud...he found himself thinking, his heart squeezing making him cry heavier.
The orb sucked inwards, suddenly like an explosion it expelled back out. Causing dust to swirl around like a torpedo. Like a solar flare, the light carried outwards. Everyone covered their eyes, not being able to look in the direction of Lucy's body.
The light dimmed, people uncovered their eyes to look back in veneration at Lucy's levitating body. Her eyes were closed, her face relaxed for a moment. Her eyes flashed open in an instant, one last serge of pain rushed throughout her body before she opened her mouth to scream.
It was so high pitched, it wasn't Lucy's scream but Caine's. The Spirit was in pain as a hose like effect of black smoke sprayed out of Lucy's mouth in a pillar form. The smoke swerved around forming into the shape of a wolf in front of her. Everyone was alert, readying their swords and other weapons against the wolf that was Caine's true form. The wolf was lean, tall and threatening. Her eyes were the colour of fresh blood, her claws were large, even for a wolf. She growled, those large nails from her claws gripping into the dirt beneath her.
"Luna..." Her voice was gruff and annoyed.
Lucy's figure glowed a wonderful gold before a flare of light caused her body to amiss for a moment. When it dimmed again, her eyes were open and her clothes were changed. From the torn wedding dress that she was forced to wear, to the silver overalls that showed the sides of her legs, the fabric following the wind by going between her legs. From her back, wings like lace sprung from her back. Its width and span was incredible. The armor itself seemingly looked flimsy, but when Erza gasped, everyone realised that the armor must've been more than it looked.
"The Queen's Light armor..." Erza whispered, "How did I not realise? It belongs to the Queen of light... Pixies..." She looked to their questioning eyes, she smirked and said proudly. "The armor looks like it is made of silk, but in reality it is made of the strongest of the battling metals, and its sword is made of diamond. Nothing can destroy it."
Lucy's gaze meanwhile did not leave Caine's. Her voice though, showed to everyone else, that Lucy still wasn't herself. Her voice sounded like her, but the aura left everyone knowing that it was the Queen speaking.
"Caine, Goddess of Strength and War. It has been a millennium, if not more." Luna spoke, her voice full of authority. She did not need to put a threatening tone to her voice to sound as though she was threatening. Even Caine looked worried.
"Four thousand years..." Caine whispered, "It has been four thousand years, you flimsy Pixie."
Luna passed a tight smile, "Indeed." She continued to levitate, her body seemed to be like liquid under her armor. "I am angered, old enemy of mine, that you chose to cause more destruction than ever before. It makes me infuriated that you did not learn from my last encounter with you, that Light shall always destroy you."
"Much time has passed since then." Caine spat, "Watch your tone, Pixie, I am stronger than I ever was."
Luna narrowed her eyes, "And you should know, you foul creature, that I am stronger than I look!"
"Enlighten me!" Caine pressed, her smoke like body disappearing before appearing before Luna.
Luna was a step in front of the Wolf Spirit. Her shield was out and in front of her body before magic hit it like a crushing bomb. Behind the smoke, Loke saw Lucy's body disappear for a moment to another location of the room. Right above Caine is where the Queen of the Pixies swung her sword downwards in a stabbing motion towards Caine's neck.
Caine grabbed the blade in her mouth, throwing the Queen upwards. Loke felt sick, but there wasn't a need as Lucy's body for this time could fly. She steadied herself easily, smirking before she disappeared again. Like lightning, the Queen showed up at the feet of Caine, slicing off one of her feet before vanishing once again.
The foot of Caine seemed to become real before crumbling into dust. It was then that the guards that belonged to Obadiah realised that Caine was their true leader, snapping out of their day dream, they started to attack the Fairy Tail guild again.
Caine howled in pain as Luna cut off in a swift movement, her tail. Caine growled and lashed her teeth, seeing the semi-conscious body of Zachary Mandragora laying on his side. Chuckling to herself, she swiped him her mouth, clenching slightly on his fragile body.
Luna stopped mid-air, her eyes wide in shock. Lucy saw this as well, scared. Luna felt her fear. The Queen narrowed her eyes, "How dare you touch one of my decedents!"
"If you do not bow down, I will bite him into two!"
"NO" Lucy managed to scream out of her mouth, passing Luna's strength for a moment.
Luna winced, telling Lucy to pause for a moment and think. If they rushed into this, Zachary could easily be killed. Lucy hushed herself, shaking within her body that Luna tried to hide. "You're trying to hurt the woman inside of me, hmm?" She assumed. "I can tell you now, it will not work."
"I can almost taste her fear, it is working. She is close to breaking."
Luna gave an expression of disgust, "I will kill you today, even if that means losing something in the process!"
Loke managed to throw down an enemy in one sweep of Regulus. The power caused the guards neck to snap to its side. Loke made a disgusted sound before looking up at the scene with Caine and Luna. He was shocked to find that Zachary was within the mouth of Caine. Loke knew that Lucy would hate herself if he died. He could imagine how she would break down due to it.
Damn it you purple haired asshole! You owe me one!
Loke jumped from a large rock to the side of the cave's wall. Kicking himself off it, straight towards Caine's mouth. "Regulus! Gatling Impact!" The air pushed from his light of brilliance. The light blinded Caine for a moment, Loke grabbed onto Zachary's limp body before they both landed on the floor. Rolling on both of their sides. Panting, Loke looked to the purple haired mage.
He shook him, but he wasn't breathing regularly. Loke looked up to Lucy, who looked back, worried. Luna within her caused her to look back to Caine, smirking. "I must end this now, I know the love this soul has for that man and my descendent. And that is all the power I need to destroy you!" As she shouted those final words, she glowed a brilliant white. Caine started to gallop towards her, blood covered teeth baring at her, snapping on occasion.
"Armor change! The Heart of the Lion Armor!" Her armor glowed a brilliant gold before dimming to show a new armor. It was a similar shape of Erza's purgatory armor, though a brilliant golden colour. It shone and sparkled in the light, as if a rainbow was trapped within it. The headdress was of a lion, golden and sculptured perfectly. She unsheathed her sword, which was easily three meters long in size.
"I summon thee to the pits of hell!" Her sword glowed a royal blue colour before Luna cut sideways. The blade cut into the neck of Caine, as if in slow motion, the beasts head was cut off. It flew in the air for a few moments, turning to dust before it even managed to hit the floor. Luna landed on the floor, glaring at the rest of Caine. It was taunting to see how slow the body turned into its realistic state, before slowly crumbling into a black dust, blowing in the wind to never be seen again. Tension seemingly breaking apart with it in the room.
Luna turned back into her previous armor, smiling to the guild who stopped fighting the guards on time. Luna seemed to know that her job was finally done, her head leaning backwards, eyes closing as she relaxed her body. Slowly, particles started to fall off her, the colour of bronze and gold, floating in the air, leaving Lucy naked behind all the clothes when all of the particles finishing disintegrating.
Loke ran over to her, holding her in his arms nuzzling her soft hair. Whilst he stroked those blonde stands, he watched her stay asleep. She seemed to be unconscious for that moment, possibly a side affect of summoning such a strong Pixie spirit.
But he worried, because she had used so much magic energy. Maybe it was too much.
"Lucy! Lucy wake up goddamn it!" Loke's eyes filled with tears, mixed between happiness and utter fear. "Caine's dead! Obadiah is dead! We did it my love, we did it!" Tears slipped down his cheeks, dripping onto hers. "You did it."
Lucy's eyes shifted beneath her lids, a small moan of consciousness came from her mouth before she slowly fluttered her eyes open. Looking at the friends that had helped her become a free person, helped her gain her dream of having a family with the person she loved. She was free. No more worrying. No more taunting messages, no more guilds wanting her dead. She was completely free. Her body, mind, soul, was free. She had to repeat it to herself a few times before she allowed herself to sob happily into Loke's lap.
The Lion Spirit held her close, pulling her to his chest and keeping her there for a while. The guild slowly started doing the same. Lisanna and Natsu hugged each other tightly, muttering something to each other that they could only hear. A private love share.
Gajeel meanwhile wasted no time in picking Levy up in his arms, their lips collided and they did not part for a while. His fingers stroking her hair, whilst she grabbed his.
Gray and Juvia shared a soft and sweet kiss, Gray holding her close as they touched their foreheads together with their eyes calmly closed.
Mirajane looked up at Laxus, the Lightning Dragon Slayer looking confused. The Demon mage smirked and rolled her eyes, "Men. Always have to be told exactly what is happening." She grabbed his hair, pulling him down to her level. Their lips locked for a few seconds before Mira pulled away, her eyes closed in her classic sweet smile. Laxus blushed a wonderful shade of crimson, which made Mira burst into an applause of laughter.
Meanwhile, Elfman begrudgingly paid Erza the betting money he owed him. She winning because she bet that Mira and Laxus would confess their love in some way by the end of the fight. Erza knew when her bets were worth the try.
Lucy looked up at Loke, the lion spirit slowly setting his gaze back to hers. Her smile was weak, but the intent was there. The love was prominent behind the warm laziness within chocolate pools that glittered on her face with tears. She sniffed, tears leaking from the corners of her tired eyes. Finding the strength, she touched her Lion's cheeks. He nuzzled his head into them, kissing the palms sweetly. Closing his eyes, he finally felt content for the first time in what seemed like years, but in reality was only two days.
"Guys!" Wendy's voice broke the easing warmth in the room with a panicked tone. "K-Kiarely...She's not waking up or breathing!"
Everyone's faces sunk, their eyes clouding over with worry. Lucy struggled in Loke's arms, the lion spirit unsure on what to do. Biting his lip firmly, he held Lucy tight looking at her strongly. "Here, wear this." He took off his black jacket, dressing her in it. It covered to just under her buttocks, enough for Loke's opinion.
Loke helped her towards the twins who were both resting, Wendy using her Sky Magic to slowly heal them. Carla warning her softly that using her magic in the state she was in was dangerous. The Sky Dragon Slayer ignored her swiftly, upping the power on both twin's bodies. Lucy kneeled beside Zachary, placing his head softly in her lap. Stroking his hair, feeling a pulse under her fingers as she stroked his neck.
"Zacky..." She whispered, her voice cracking as tears seemed to endlessly slide down her red and blue cheeks. Tears stung the cuts and bruises that laid there, her body was tired, but her mind was determined. One always won with the Celestial Mage, and it wasn't the first.
Zacky took a while to find the strength to open his eyes, blood seemed to pulse out of the large bite marks in his stomach and sides. Wendy seemed worried, unable to treat both twins at once anymore. Her breath becoming laboured. The male twin smirked a little, his face becoming pale and gray. He tried to chuckle, but winced. His face filling with sweat and pain. "We-Wendy?" He said the mage's name softly, even if it was full of pain. "Focus...On Kiarely, please."
"B-But!" Lucy and Wendy said at once, Loke watched from behind the blonde mage, feeling a dark feeling about what was about to happen. Lucy bit her lip, hard, "You'll die!" Her voice was tired, but her the worry was still burning.
Zachary smirked, that same tired smirk from before. "Death doesn't scare me." He managed to mutter.
"It should. You can't die." Lucy mumbled.
Zachary looked to his sister, then back to Lucy. "We both know what if Wendy doesn't fully focus on Kia, she'll die." He chuckled and coughed, "And let's be honest here, Flower Girl, if she dies, a lot more people will be devastated than if its me." He rolled his eyes, "I'm ready to go, Lucy." He looked back up at her, his blue eyes full of tears. "I saved you, and that was what I needed to finish. There's nothing else to work on. Nothing else for me to achieve." He sniffed and winced, "Kiarely has two children, she's a mother. She has more to protect than me." Tears went down his cheeks, mixing with the blood that was there. "So come on, let me die and go to my ancestors in peace." He joked lightly, his voice faint.
"No!" Lucy cried, "I can't let you do that, Zacky!"
He frowned, "Lucy. It is what I want." He said, his voice suddenly strong. "Come on, don't be selfish. Let me die when I want to die, not when someone else wants me too." He smiled softly, "You'll always be someone I'll think about, you're my number one girl. My love. Even if I can't have you, I will always watch over your life as you stay happy." He coughed violently and gasped for breath, "Just make sure I'm buried the way my ancestors were, and make sure to do another thing for me?"
Lucy's eyes were fogged over, her tears covering her sight. "W-what?"
"...Smile, and be happy..." He whispered, his voice fading. His eyes looking up, Wendy slowly stopped treating him, her tears also causing her not to be able to see. Zachary gave a noise that resembled a chuckle, "Why...look-a...heart-f...filia flower..." He coughed again, blood pouring over Lucy's hands as she tried to stop the bleeding aimlessly. Lucy looked upwards, sure enough, after narrowing her eyes to look harder. Heartfilia flowers grew on the ceiling of what would've been the old ball room. Pink, bright, and beautiful.
Lucy sobbed, her tears hot and flowing. "Zacky, you gotta give me one, remember? You can't die..." She was cut off when she looked down, her eyes widened, "Zacky?" He was lifting his hand, which was glowing with sky coloured magic energy. She frowned heavily, "W-What is that?"
"My...stored...m-...magic." He whispered, "A little something..." He grinned, "For...K...Kia." He let his hand fall on Kiarely's hand. The magic spreading throughout her body, slowly, as if healing her. "La-Last...resort." He explained shortly.
His eyes closed, his breath becoming short and ragged. Lucy shook him, telling him not to die, or she'll bring him back and kill him. Her voice becoming short and desperate. "You're my best friend, don't die..."
He didn't answer for a moment, he took one last breath smiling. "Lo-ve...y-..." He didn't finish, his breath stopped midway. His lungs slowly letting out the remaining hair. Lucy searched for a pulse, her hands manic as they slipped on his blood. Slowly it dried on her hands, on his stomach, on his clothes. On Loke's jacket. She spent a long time trying to find that pulse.
Loke watched, hands shaking. He slowly kneeled beside her, touching her back with his hand. He watched as she whipped her head around, looking at him with a desperate expression. "I can't find the pulse...Why can't I find the pulse, Loke?"
Loke closed his eyes, opening them as he brought her into his arms. The smell of iron filled his nostrils, he bit his lip, feeling mournful himself. Everyone looked just like that. Mournful. Sad. Expressional of the current scene. Loke sighed deeply, trying to find words other than the obvious ones. Trying to find a way.
"Loke..." she whispered, "Why did he die?" Her tears started to stain and soak his shirt.
He didn't know how to answer than either, he thought about Zachary's Pixie ancestry. Finding an answer easily there, "Because," he started. "He's needed somewhere else other than here, to protect someone else. To be with his people, finally."
Her sobs progressed for a long time, loud and broken. Breaking all hearts in the room. Loke didn't know what to say, but he knew no matter what, he needed to be there for the person who needed him the most. He wouldn't break that promise for the world.
It wasn't long until Wendy decided that Kiarely was well enough to be moved to the ship. Elfman carried Zachary's body, whilst Laxus carried Kiarely's.
Lucy soaked in the tub of that was on the boat, cradling herself as Loke washed her hair and body for her. She looked up to him and smiled softly, "He wants me to be happy, right?"
"Yes, I believe he does." Loke replied softly, with a lopsided smile.
She sniffed, trying to hide the fresh tears in her eyes. "Then, let's honour that from this point on... Okay?"
Loke smiled wider, feeling enlightened of her words. Holding her close to him, stroking her wet hair as she looked into his eyes. "Okay." He replied, his voice soft, his singular word was all she needed to hear to cry the first set of happy tears for a long time.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I cried a little writing this. I hate killing someone. Oh dear, I am not gonna be a George R.R Martin, let's be honest xD Lucy did it! She defeated Caine, and Obadiah is dead. Happy days. Stay tuned for the last full chapter and the Epilogue. :) Review, tell me what you think!
