"I want you to think about your daughter. Think about her growing up without you. She will spend her entire life wondering what happened to you. That is the last thought I want you to have, because I am going to bury your body so deep that no one will ever find it."

"Please don't do this," she begs.

He presses the gun to her head, and she closes her eyes. All she can see is the face of her newborn baby.

"You won't get away with this," she tells him.

"I never said I would get away with it. I just said that they would never find your body."

"What about your daughter. It's not too late..."

He places his hand over her mouth. "Shh!"

The sound of her heart pounds in her ears. She hears the revolver cock, and a shot rings out. She can't breathe. Suddenly her entire body feels heavy, and she can feel the blood on her face. She opens her eyes, and looks over. She finds the assailant's limp body against her. She exhales, and looks forward. She finds a familiar face staring back at her. He approaches her in silence. He moves the dead body off of her, and a team of paramedics enters the building. He removes her restraints.

"You okay?" He asks.

She swallows hard, "I just want to go home."

"I know."

"I just want to go home to my daughter."

"Olivia," he says softly, "You should have told me the truth, from the beginning."

"Captain, I am so sorry."

"Let's get you home."

"Okay," she agrees as the tears stream down her face.

On the way to the car a paramedic stops them. He hands her a handful of wipes. She continues to the car. She climbs inside, and flips down the visor. She carefully wipes the blood spatter from her face. Cragen hands her an empty paper bag to toss them into. The car ride home is silent. When they reach her building he doesn't offer to get out.

She reaches her floor, and stops in front of her door. She composes herself, and grips the doorknob. She twists the knob, and pushes the door open. She slips into the apartment, quietly, closing the door behind her. She follows the light down the hallway to her daughter's room. She stops in the doorway, and peeks inside. She watches as Nick sits in the glider, and rocks the newborn baby girl back, and fourth. She pushes the door open, and steps inside.

He looks up when he hears the door creak. He rises to his feet in an instant. He slips the little girl into Olivia's arms without a word. She inhales the baby's scent, and plants a kiss on her forehead. She steps past Nick, and moves towards the far wall. She places the newborn into her crib. She stares at the sleeping baby for several moments before turning around. When she turns around Nick is standing inches from her. He expects her to push him away. She steps forward, into his hug. He embraces her tightly, afraid to let go.

"You really scared me," he admits.

"I know," she replies, solemnly.

"Please don't leave her."

"Never," she promises.

"Don't leave me," he begs.

She presses her head against his shoulder. "I'm not going anywhere."

"You always try to run."

"Not this time," she argues.

"How can I know for certain?"

"I don't want to leave this apartment. I just want to stay here with her, and with you."

"You really mean that?"

She nods, "Yes. I want her to have the life that I never did."

"How are we going to make that work?"

"It's time for me to leave the department."

"What?! You love your job."

"Not more than I love her."

"I don't want you to resent her for..."

"I am not going to resent her for anything. I need to do this. All I have ever wanted is a family. I am not going to let this job take away my only chance at that. I wanted her more than I ever wanted anything. The job is not worth it anymore. Anything that is going to take me away from her isn't worth it."

"So what are you going to do?"

"I always wanted to teach, so maybe I'll do that. Right now, I just want to be right here."

"Right here?" He smiles.

"Yeah," she nods.

"Sounds pretty good to me."

"How long can we stand here, and watch her sleep without it being weird?" She questions.

"As long as we want."

"Will you stay?"

"Yeah," he nods.

They both turn towards the crib. They stare inside at the little girl. She looks like an angel wrapped in a pink blanket.

"She's perfect," Olivia admits.

"I think we might be biased."

"Maybe."

"We had a long day, are you ready for bed?"

"I have to take a shower first."

"Okay. I can stay in here with her."

"We can't leave her in here all alone."

"I just said I'll stay with her."

"I want her where I can see her."

"While you shower? You don't trust me to watch her sleep while you take a five minute shower?"

"I do. I just want her where I can see her when I go to bed."

"One day she's going to accuse you of hovering."

"And later she'll thank me for it."

He smirks as he lifts the baby from the crib. They leave the room. Olivia heads into the bathroom. Nick carries Lucy into Olivia's bedroom. He takes a seat on her bed. By the time she gets out of the bathroom they're both asleep. She tiptoes over the threshold into the bedroom. She finds Nick sound asleep on her bed with their daughter asleep on his chest. She's in mismatched pajamas, and her hair is still wet as she crawls into bed.

"Night," she whispers as she flips off the lamp.

"Love you."

"Love you too," she tells him as she settles underneath the covers.
