Alright guys, as I promised, I did update this story every friday whether it's on morning or night. Anyway, I think that should remind you guys. Without further ado, here's chapter 38 of Sonic the Magister Hedgehog!

Audience arena
At the audience arena, we can see both Tails and Blaze been welcomed by the Negima group and Sonic as well as they just finished the fight in stalemate, though according to what Kazumi's declared before that it was the purple-cat advance to the semifinals and will be facing Albireo. Tails didn't mind about this defeat since he is light-hearted person and knows that he still needs to train more, the same goes towards Blaze and Sonic as well.
"Wow Blaze, that was awesome!" Negi said in excitement. "I cannot believe when I saw your transformation! You just like princess in wonderland!"
"Negi, you're saying too much," Blaze simply chuckled by Negi's reaction. She couldn't blame him since he was still kid after all. "Hello there girls. Did you enjoy our fight back then?"
"Yes, we are Blaze-chan," Konoka responded with her bright smile. "We were lucky to witness your awesome fight! I cannot put my words here. How about you Se-chan?"
"Blaze-sensei," Setsuna kneel towards the purple-cat, surprising everyone that was there. "I gained more respect towards you, and I'm very grateful that you are my tutor."
"Please Setsuna, there is no need for you to do that," Blaze said rather surprised by swordswoman action, reminds her about her life as a princess in her kingdom. Setsuna nodded and stand on her feet. "Well, I appreciate your thoughts about me, but never forget that you should more concern about yourself. Remember that advice Setsuna."
"Hai!" Setsuna responded with her smile. On the other hand, we can see Tails chat with the librarian girls about how cool the kitsune was back then, especially when he used his skill towards Blaze.
"Damn Tails-kun, you really awesome back then!" Haruna said in rather high voice. "I never know that you can transform like that! It was like a fantasy world for me!"
"Please Haruna-san, you're saying too much," Tails replied in modest. In reality, Haruna doesn't know about the animals' transformation until now, with an exception of some students including Nodoka and Yue. "Umm…so Yue-san, Nodoka-san, did you girls enjoy it?"
"Tails-kun, I think you were magnificent," Yue responded while sipping her orange box juice. "It's a shame that you didn't manage to get to the next round. You're just not lucky today."
"Hehe, I guess I am. Then again, I didn't mind about this loss since I'm enjoying fighting against Blaze. I mean, me and she were best friend," Tails stated as he didn't regret about this loss at all. In fact, it shows that both he and Blaze were in equal terms of their strength. The kitsune noticed that Nodoka had her face blushed before he decided to approached her and ask about something. "Nodoka-san, is something wrong?"
"N-no, there is nothing wrong, T-Tails-kun," Nodoka responded rather panic about Tails's sudden question. Unknown for her, Yue and Haruna watching her behavior and noticed that Nodoka is still had her love sight against the kitsune, though for Yue she already known about this.
Meanwhile, Sonic decided to approach his two friends. "Hey Blaze, Tails, I'm glad you guys are okay. It would be troublesome for me if one of you had serious injury."
"Oh please Sonic, your joke is not funny," Tails scolded the hedgehog, while Blaze simply glared at him.
"Sorry guys, I just want to lighten up a bit," Sonic replied casually. Yeah, sometimes his joke is not too funny. "So Blaze, I see that you're going to face Albireo. Do you think that you can win in the match?"
"I don't know if I don't try Sonic, although from what I've seen him beating Kotarou in total domination earlier on, I might say I have slim chance to win the match," Blaze replied while try to predict her outcome. "Still, who knows? I just have to give everything I got here."
Sonic stood there for a moment before he continued to speak, "I know you would say that. In any case, we will be rooting for you. And even if you didn't go to the final, we all proud of you – no, scratch that, ALL of us will proud of what we've done in this tournament."
"Wow Sonic, I never know you can say such wise word like that," Tails responded with a hint of sarcasm.
"Come on Tails, I already grown up here, you know?" Sonic replied back rather annoyed, which makes both Blaze and Tails chuckled by his response. Yeah, these animals were already known each other for a long time and that's what makes them stronger than before. While they are having nice conversation, Albireo suddenly appeared on their back. "Yo! How was the match? Did you enjoy watching it?"
"Why yes, I do. And I cannot wait to see fighting against Blaze-kun here," Albireo said while glances towards Blaze. "I must say, both you and Tails-kun were in similar term when you both fight like that, though I just wonder if any of you really mean serious back there."
"Al, to answer your question, is a 'yes' and 'no'," Blaze replied casually. "While many of the audience thinks that we both give it all we got during the fight there, but for us we still haven't use our full strength back there," Tails nodded by her statement. "Besides, we don't want to get too flashy so we don't attract unwanted person – in this case, that Chao girl –, though it may change if I fight against you Al."
"Fufu, I see, " Albireo chuckles when hearing Blaze's statement. Yup, he couldn't help himself but wondered about his next fight against the purple-cat. "In any case, are you guys going to watch Negi-kun's fight?"
"Nah, we don't have to because I know that he will win. There's no way he's going to lose because I want to fight against him!" Sonic replied in enthusiasm while Blaze and Tails nodded by his response. The hedgehog's statement makes Albireo chuckles.
"You sure have a lot confidence towards him then?" The animals smiled while decided to leave the arena for a moment alongside Al.
"Of course! Negi is our friend! And I know that he will surpass his father sometimes, or even us! Endless possibility does exist here," Sonic replied with his smirk, and in seconds he remembered something. "I just hope that…he didn't strip Takane-chan during the fight…again."
"Well it couldn't help Sonic," Tails responded. "It wasn't his intention from the beginning, though I wondered myself about sneezing in front of the girl in recent cases"
"Heh, yeah, I guess," Sonic sighed then he remembered that he has to fight Setsuna if he wants to progress towards Semifinal and facing Negi. The hedgehog feels guilty that he will up against one of his harem – the other is Konoka – and sometimes he wishes that he won't fight against the hanyou. Then again, he wants to know how much Setsuna progress so far while she has been training under Blaze's tutelage. His thought was interrupted by Blaze's voice that can be heard.
"Sonic, are you okay there?" Blaze asked in concern.
"Don't worry, I'm perfectly fine Blaze, aside that I will be fighting against Se-chan," Sonic replied with a small smile. The purple-cat understands about the hedgehog's condition now so she won't ask too much and instead giving him an encouragement.
"Sonic, it's okay. We will be rooting for you there and I know that you will fight serious against Setsuna," Blaze replied in kind tone, while Tails nodded at her response. "Besides, I know that you will hate yourself if you didn't fight seriously."
"Heh, thanks for the encouragement there Blaze," Sonic let out his smirk as his mood back to normal thanks to Blaze's word of encouragement. "I will make sure that you guys enjoy my show there against Se-chan!"
"Glad to hear it Sonic," Tails smiled at him, while Blaze followed the same as the animals decided to hang out around the academy for a while alongside Al who has watching their conversation with his smile put on his face.
Meanwhile
"Hmm..." Chao stated while watching a holographic screen. "Nice Takane-san. The fancier you get the easier it is for me." Behind her stood Takahata and C-Setsuna in electrical restraints. "And I should thank Blaze-chan and Tails-kun for giving me a much data for my plan."
"Chao-san! What exactly are you planning? You're supposed to be our classmate!" C-Setsuna demanded.
"Ah sorry, Baka setsuna-kun, I didn't plan to treat you two so harshly but there's simply no time. The tournament also opened in a hurry...originally this was supposed to take place next year..." Chao sighed.
"Is it because the world tree has an unexpected speed up in its glow due to the odd weather?" Takahata asked.
"Ah…as expected from Takahata-sensei!"
"Chao-kun what is your objective? Depending on your reply, I might not be able to let you get away with this, even if you were my student."
"What am I planning? Nothing big really. According to my research, the number of mages spread throughout the world is about twice the population of the area of Tokyo, which is more than all the Chinese immigrants in the world as well. That's quite a number ne? And even nowadays there is an 'underworld' that exists slightly out of our own world that has its own countries as well."
"...and then?"
"You don't have to worry about anything Takahata-sensei, it won't bring trouble to the normal people. My objective is to declare the existence of mages to the entire world." The Chinese girl then smirked. "And about the animals as well."
Tournament Arena
When Sonic and his friends return back to the arena a few minutes ago, they have found out that Negi has won the match against Takane and going through to the Semifinal. The animals, especially Sonic couldn't help but let out their smile as they know that the mage teacher has made much progress into this. Now that Negi's turn was done, there is only one match remaining to be done in this quarter final, and that is Sonic against Setsuna, one of his harem which promises to be exciting one.
At the moment, you can see the blue hedgehog began his warm up by stretching his arms and legs as his usual routine. Sonic couldn't help but excited by his upcoming fight because he knows that if he win this one, he will face Negi in the Semifinal and that is something that he would love to make it happen, but first he has go up against Setsuna, the swordswoman who has been loyal servant – I mean friends in different point of view for Konoka, another one of Sonic's harem. The blue hedgehog still feels some guilty deep inside his heart though he knows that this little matter won't bother him too much. Now that his warm up finished, he will make sure that he enjoy this fight. "Alright, here I go! Blaze, Tails, I'm going now! I'll make sure that I'll enjoy this match!"
"Good luck Sonic, I wish you best of luck!" Tails give Sonic a support.
"Give it all you got Sonic, I know you can do it," Blaze said the same as Tails does. Sonic gives them a thumbs up as he jumped high and landed on the ring safely, while his opponent Setsuna already standing on it while wearing yet another cute costume the same when she fought against Asuna earlier on which makes Sonic couldn't help but let out his smirk.
"Wow Se-chan, I didn't know that you have been fanatic wearing this costume lately," Sonic said teasingly.
"P-please, Sonic-kun. Don't tease me so much with your words," Setsuna replied with a hint of blush, but later on she ignores the words and focused on her objective. "I hope you will be serious because even though I'm one of your harems, I won't make it easy for you."
"What do you know? I just want to say the same words for you as well," Sonic smirked as he prepared his fighting stance. "Fair enough. Don't say I didn't warn you Se-chan."
"Alright folks! The last match of the quarter final is about to begin!" Kazumi shouted on her mic. "We have the beautiful swordswoman Setsuna against the famous speedster Sonic here in this arena, and they already begin to prepare their stance," The crowd cheered when the paparazzi girl said the contestants. "Alright, are you guys ready to fight?" Both Sonic and Setsuna nodded. "BEGIN!"
As soon as the match started, Sonic wasted no time as he dashed himself and closed his distance towards Setsuna, which surprises her with his tremendous speed as always. Sonic launched his axe kick against her, but Setsuna anticipated his attack by blocking it using her broom since in this tournament sharp weapons are not allowed here. The swordswoman step back from her distance a few meters away because of the force she received from Sonic's kick.
"Never let your guard down, Se-chan," Sonic continued his attack towards his girlfriend as the match goes on. When Sonic used his homing attack against Setsuna, she managed to block it without too much effort, sending Sonic into mid-air. However, the hedgehog is not always using the same method as he did against Evangeline in his match back there as he rolled into a ball and use light speed spin attack, creating a wave of homing attack scattered around the arena. This makes Setsuna have to defend the hedgehog's attack as she can feel that Sonic can attack in many directions as he wants to. However, it is not simple as it said as the swordswoman having hard time to block his attack; even she got herself being attacked instead. When Sonic finishes his light speed attack towards her, you can see Setsuna in one-knee position try to take a breath after being attacked relentlessly by the hedgehog. "Come on, Se-chan! Is that the best you got? I thought you said that you won't make it easy on me even though I'm your boyfriend."
Setsuna gritted her teeth in annoyance after hearing Sonic's words. However, she admitted that Sonic was absolutely right about this. She wants to fight serious because deep inside her heart she wants to see if she could keep up with the hedgehog, but to no avail she couldn't make that happen so far. She thinks that if she let out her full strength she may have a chance to beat Sonic, but since Chao was watching this match in safe place, she decided not to do it although she will regret herself if she doesn't. Sonic saw her expression and noticed that she wants to use her full strength but she couldn't, and the hedgehog knows the reason behind all of this. 'Oh well, I guess I'll be using this. I don't want to fight Se-chan in this condition anyway,' within a second, Sonic used his speed to closed his distance against the hanyou once again, but this time he grabbed her neck so she couldn't move in her position. Setsuna didn't notice his sudden appearance as she was now being held by Sonic grabbing her neck. "Se-chan, I think I have another idea so that you can fight serious against me."
"W-what…is…it, Sonic-kun?" Setsuna said in struggle as her neck was being grabbed by the hedgehog. Suddenly, a blue aura coming out from his body as Sonic's eyes now changing from green one to blue ones.
"Oh, it looks like contestant Sonic is going to unleashed another one of his trademark skill," Kazumi shouted on her mic. "Could this be the end of the road for contestant Setsuna? She seems struggle to break free from Sonic's grip."
"CHAOS MIND!" Sonic shouted as Sonic's and Setsuna's eye met, leaving behind a trance look on both of their faces. The crowd was confused on what had just happened.
"Wh-What's this?" Kazumi asked. "Both Challengers have stopped moving and have their eyes locked. What's going on?" Kazumi sounded off with a hint of jealousy and worry in her tone. Negi, Konoka, and Asuna looked at the stage with worry on their faces, while Tails and Blaze seems not worry too much about Sonic's plan.
"Tails, what is going on between them?" Negi asked worried.
"Don't worry Negi, Sonic is just doing the right thing to do," Tails replied. "Although I think he shouldn't grab Setsuna's neck instead."
"What do you mean by that?" Asuna asked rather angried by Sonic's action.
"Trust me, we all know about this," Blaze simply replied. "If you guys want to know, we can help you with that."
Meanwhile
Setsuna opened one of her eyes slowly due to the brightness of the area. She lifted himself off the floor with a daze, staggering left to right as she tried to get his bearing on her center of balance. "Sonic-kun, what was just…happen?" She looks around her surround and notices that she was in a land full of grass! "What is going on? Last time I remembered, we were at the arena a few minutes ago!"
"Yup, I know about that Se-chan," Setsuna turned to the source of the sound to see Sonic stands behind her. "I made this place just for us. You can see this is one of my skills I just developed recently. I must say this skill is really useful."
"So are you saying that we are now in sort place of dream world?" Setsuna asked. Sonic nodded. "I see, but why did you use this skill?"
"So that you can fight serious against me. I know that you have been holding back because of that Chinese girl…umm, Chao, was it? Yeah, she has been watching this tournament for her reason, and I would say it will be a bad one," Sonic explained the situation. "Now that there is no one watching us except for both of us, I think it would be wise if come up against me with everything you got."
"I see. Thanks for your concern Sonic-kun," Setsuna responded with her smile as she let her wings came out from her back and began her fighting stance, but this time she wield her usual sword not a broom. Sonic smirked watching her determination as he prepared his fighting stance and he knows that this time it will be a different fight.
"LET'S GO!" Sonic and Setsuna shouted as both of them charged towards each other. Sonic used his trademark skill, while Setsuna used her swordsmanship. As both of them clashed to each other whether in the land or up into the sky, you can see many crates and pieces of rocks scattered around the surroundings, making their fight was more enjoyable than before.
Back into real world
Sonic and Setsuna continued to stare at each other in a trance look as the crowd grew a bit restless at the slow action they were witnessing. Negi and the group were getting a bit worried, but not for Blaze and Tails as they still feel relaxed as usual. "Blaze, Tails, could you guys explained to me what is going on between Sonic and Setsuna-san?" Negi asked rather concern.
"Sonic and Setsuna are having their fight in their mind, in case you want to know Negi," Blaze replied.
"A what?"
"Basically they fighting in dream world created by Chaos Emerald," Tails explained. "We both know about this and I think they have been fighting for at least…10 minutes if I was right."
"So can you guys do anything for us to see if both of them are okay?" Asuna asked.
"Heh, I know you want to ask that," Blaze smirked. "Yes, we can. We can go to their mind and see the battle, but remember that we cannot join them as it will hurt both Sonic and Setsuna's pride."
Negi and Asuna stood for a moment before nodding their heads as they can understand the situation. "Very well. In that case, hold up to me and Tails," Negi and Asuna quickly grab hold of Blaze and Tails respectively. Blaze then begin to chant the spell as she raised her hand, "CHAOS MIND!"
In the dream world
Negi, Asuna, Blaze, and Tails all floated inside the mind space, enveloped in a bright aura. "Wow!" awed Negi.
"Wow, I didn't know that idiot can create this beautiful space," Asuna said in sarcasm, referring to Sonic.
"That's Sonic for you, he always amazes us," Tails responded. "Anyway, I think we should look around and find Sonic and Setsuna."
"I agree with you Tails, we should –" Blaze's words was interrupted when a loud sonic explosion occurred, causing everyone to cover up their eyes quickly as well as not being blown away by the blast. "I think we already found our friends," Blaze said, gesturing towards where several sonic explosions were occurring, alongside big explosions occurring to the land that all of them were staying at earlier. "Let's hurry!" Everyone nodded in agreement as they all flew as close as possible to the battle site.
When they arrived at the battle site, they saw Setsuna and Sonic staring at each other, with their condition already messed up. Setsuna still used her wings on her backs, while Sonic already transformed into his super form, but this time his body were covered in purple instead of golden, and has a strip on his forehead with glowing bracelet on his wrist. Yes, Sonic just transformed into Darkspine Sonic!
"Well, Se-chan, I was impress as you can keep up with me in this form," Sonic said in deeper tone as the effect of his transformation. "I think Blaze's training was worked out this time, don't you think so?"
"You right Sonic-kun, I do feel my training paid at last," Setsuna replied while taking her breath. Even though she can keep up with Darkspine Sonic, she can feel that the hedgehog still got some trick on his sleeves, and with her condition already in low state, she wondered if she could keep up with him.
"Setsuna-san!" screamed a voice, causing the hedgehog and the hanyou to turn their heads to see Negi, Asuna, Blaze, and Tails floating before them.
"Negi-sensei? Asuna-san? Blaze-sensei? Tails-kun? What are you guys doing here?" Setsuna asked in surprise.
"Wow guys, you just missed the show here. You should come earlier after I use the skill before," Sonic followed as he recognized the presences.
"Fufu, sorry Sonic, we don't want to interrupt your battle," Blaze chuckled. "But since Negi and Asuna were very curious, we decided to see inside this world of yours."
"Hehe, glad you guys come here," Sonic then turned his attention towards Setsuna. "I hope you didn't mind not to interrupt our battle here, because I have one last thing to do!"
"Don't worry Sonic; we won't interrupt you and Setsuna-san, right guys?" Negi replied, while the others nodded at his response.
"Thank you Negi," Sonic let out his smile and so does Setsuna as both of hedgehog and hanyou faced towards each other. "Se-chan, as your reward for making to this far, I will show you my usual transformation. Better prepare yourself!" Sonic clenched his fists as he prepared his horse stance. As he did so, the ground began to shake, debris lifted up and floating, and strong wind surround his surrounding as you can see his golden aura emerged from his body. "HYAAAAH!" Sonic let out his war cry as a bright light came out from his body, causing the other to close their eyes. When the light was over, it reveals Sonic with his golden form. Yes, he transformed into Super Sonic!
"Sonic-kun…" Setsuna muttered as she witness Sonic's transformation. Even though she already witnesses it during the Kyoto arc, she still couldn't forget this sensation as her wings and her entire body could feel it. "You are something Sonic-kun…" She then began her fighting stance once again, but you can see her body began to tremble by Sonic's super form. She didn't know if this was her fear towards Sonic or not, but one thing for sure that she won't run away from this.
"Okay then Se-chan," Sonic spoke after his transformation was done. "Give it everything you got! And I will do the same to make sure this will be an enjoyable one!"

"Here I go, Sonic-kun!" Setsuna launched herself toward Sonic with everything she got. She pulled out her sword and began to slash the golden hedgehog, but to no avail Sonic blocked her attack with just his hands. When the sword pulled back deflected because of the force, Sonic begin his counterattack as he teleported behind Setsuna, surprising her within the process and launches a barrage of attack towards the hanyou. Setsuna already dealt with this before, but this time it was different as the speed of his attack was increased ten times fold, making her having hard time to block it. When she suddenly felt her grip on her sword loosen up a bit, Sonic smirked as he took his chance to punch Setsuna's gut, sending her towards the mountain of rock, causing an explosion coming out from it.
When the explosion was over, Setsuna flied back using her wings as she launches another attack towards the golden hedgehog. Sonic raised his arm and concentrated his energy within a second. "CHAOS SPEAR!" He throws the spear towards the hanyou with such a speed. Setsuna noticed his attack as she move to the other side to dodge the spear. The spear contacted to the land, and a large explosion can be heard as result of it. The hanyou stunned by this scene and she was glad that it didn't landed on her. However, the next thing might be her regret for letting her guard down for a second.
"Se-chan, what are you looking for?" Setsuna suddenly realized that Sonic isn't the usual spot anymore and try to find his whereabouts. She turned around and saw Sonic standing behind her, with his knees bent and his cupped hands to the side with a golden orb glowing within. Setsuna aware of this as she fly towards the hedgehog's back so she could land one of her slash towards the golden hedgehog. Sonic smirked knowing her attack and within a second he teleported himself, making Setsuna missed her attack once again. "DAI-CHAOS BUSTER!" Sonic shouted behind her back as he thrust his hands forward with everything he got, causing the hanyou have no choice but to receive this powerful attack by the hedgehog. As a result, a loud explosion occurred, covering and effectively destroying the land completely. As a result, a bright light engulfed the area and everyone was forced out.

Back in the real world
An explosion occurred in the middle of the stage, surprising everyone! "A-An explosion?" shouted Kazumi in the microphone. "Wh-What just happened?" Negi and the others came back to the real world as they just witness the explosion in the middle of the tournament arena. The smoke disappeared rather quickly as Sonic suddenly came out of a cloud of smoke and attacked the standing Setsuna head on.
Then the battle was over as Setsuna fell to the ground and Sonic in a finishing stance. Everyone stood in awe at the quickness of Sonic's attack. They even didn't see how the hedgehog was able to execute such a devastating move that put the hanyou on the ground. "Ah!" sounded off Kazumi in the mic. "Reversal? I-Is it over?"
"Yes, it is. I admit my defeat," Setsuna raised her hands as she cannot continue this match as she wants to. With that the crowd roar in cheer as the match had ended with Sonic as the victor.
"Challenger Setsuna has given up!" Kazumi shouted "That means contestant Sonic is going through to the Semifinal!"
Setsuna cannot stand any longer as she was about to collapsed, not before Sonic going to rescue her as he managed to grab her before it happens. Sonic smiled when he saw her peaceful sleep and didn't regret about the fight they had. "Well done, Se-chan. It looks like you've grown strong as before, and we will make sure that you will grow even stronger than before so that you can protect your friends and Konoka-chan especially." With that, Sonic carried the hanyou in bridal style, causing some of the audiences feel jealous by his action.

Anyway, as you can see, I make Sonic and Setsuna fight in the dream world like the manga does if you guys notice about this because Sonic has strong sense of something fishy, like when he does feel about Chao's plan. In addition, it looks like Chao wants to reveal the animals existence around the world! Would be that good or bad for our beloved heroes here? You just have to wait and see as the story goes on.

Fun Fact: Kobayashi Yuu, Setsuna's seiyuu has some major roles in anime industry during her career so far, including Kimura Kaere (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei), Kaga Shizuko (Maid-sama!), and Sarutobi Ayame (Gintama)
