Chapter 36 – Aid

Aid- Help, typically of a practical nature

Kagome's POV

Kagome glowered at everything and nothing as she stalked away from Sesshomaru. She would never have admitted it, but she had been pleased by his comment. Unfortunately, her pinkened face gave away her true feelings which caused a cocky smirk to bloom on the male's face. Not about to give him any more satisfaction, she turned away from him with an irritated growl.

Now she was gliding through the groups of people with such an expression that nobody dared approach her.

Sesshomaru's POV

Sesshomaru watched her back as she left, the smug look still planted firmly on his face. She enjoyed his praise. Perhaps more of her than just her beast wanted him.

That knowledge excited him more than he wished to admit, even to himself.

He would need to give the girl a courting gift soon, something Sesshomaru had pondered on for quite a while. He finally realized what he wanted to give her that morning. He only hoped that she would swallow her pride and accept it.

He also had to find time to retrieve the items needed for the object. He was unwilling to do it while she was around, as she already disappeared enough. He had no way of knowing where she'd be when he returned. He wasn't even sure if he should hope she would soon leave.

Sesshomaru was quickly frustrating himself to the point of anger. He retched himself from his mind to find a distraction. He didn't need to search, however, as one came to him.

A very old tortoise demon by the name of Hisashi approached him. Besides Bokuseno, Hisashi was the oldest being Sesshomaru knew. He was an ally of Inu no Taisho, one he fought beside and went to for advice. Sesshomaru would do the same.

Excellent timing.

"Ah! Lord Sesshomaru. It is very nice to see you again." The tortoise bowed as best he could with a hunch in his back and a shell there too.

"Greetings, Hisashi. This Sesshomaru expects you are doing well?"

"Quite! And you, my lord?"

"Sufficient enough. This Sesshomaru must request your aid, however."

The tortoise hummed and squinted through small glasses. "Yes?"

Ten minutes later found the pair watching Kagome from afar.

"Yes, I do believe you are making the correct gift choice for this one. But beware, my lord. Many will soon come to take her."

Sesshomaru was just about to question Hisashi when he began hobbling away.

Hisashi means "long lived".
