Chapter 38 - Stories

Derek and Penelope looked at each other when they heard a third cry. A few seconds later the doctor came back with the baby and placed the baby in his arms.

Derek stared at the beautiful baby boy in his arms. Derek smiled brightly and looked at Penelope; he leaned down to show her their baby boy without saying a word.

'We have a baby boy' Penelope said in awe, with tears in her eyes, she looked at her little girls and said 'you, beautiful girls have a baby brother' both girls opened their eyes at the same time and looked at their mummy.

She smiled and kissed them both on the head and they closed their eyes to sleep.

Derek kissed his little boys head and whispered 'hey pretty boy, this is your daddy and I love you so much'. The little boy moved slightly in his arms and he looked up at his dad with big, dark brown eyes. He smiled slightly and then closed his eyes.

They gave Penelope some anaesthetics to fall asleep; she got moved to the recovery room for a few hours so they could keep an eye on her.

Derek sat holding his daughter whilst Penelope was asleep. He took her hand and she wrapped her tiny hand around his finger and he smiled. He kissed her hand and she held on tighter, he moved the little girl in his arms a bit so she could see her mum when she opened her eyes.

He spoke to her softly and decided to tell her about their family. 'Your mummy and I work together, you have amazing uncles called Hotch and Reid and your granddad Rossi. You have amazing aunties too Emily and JJ. Reid, well there's a lot to say about him, he is a genius and he can tell you many facts and statistics, when he does that he rambles sometimes too much. Hotch, yea he is our boss and our friend he does smile but not that often, he keeps his emotions hidden but when his guard is down he smiles, laughs sometimes makes jokes but he is a lot more fun. He's with Auntie Emily. The women on our team are beautiful; shhh don't tell mummy I said that though, I think though that your mummy is most beautiful though. You, your sister, your brother and your mummy are so beautiful and there is no one I love more in the world'. Derek told her with a smile on his face. Penelope had started waking up a bit and was listening to what Derek was saying, 'It took me and your mum a very long time to get together though, we love each other and that's important but most of all we love you. We will do whatever and anything to protect all three of you, even if you don't want to but we are very protective of each other. When you're older though, I can tell you are going to be like us, very… stubborn. Your mother is very cute but stubborn, take after your mum's style, she has a very unique but incredible and amazing style, the clothes, the glasses, everything but I guess that's just what makes me love your mother more'.

Derek hadn't noticed Penelope wake up because he was so busy, in his own world talking to his little girl. She had opened her beautiful eyes and stared at him, listening to what he was saying. Once he had stopped talking to her she started crying a bit. Derek got a little worried and said 'hey, hey, hey, what's wrong baby? Don't cry, daddy doesn't like it when you cry' he shifted her again and she stopped crying. 'Daddy used to play soccer when he was younger, I wanted to be a professional but then I hurt my leg so I couldn't play anymore, I started working with the team and then your mummy joined and they say you only fall in love once, but that's not true I fall in love with your mummy everyday all over again, more and more. When me and your mummy first met I didn't know her name, I asked uncle Reid what her name was and he told me Gomez, I shouted Gomez to her and she didn't answer so I said "baby girl" and she turned around' Derek smiled as he remembered how they first met and kissed his daughters head. 'We started talking and flirting, she calls me hot stuff, chocolate thunder and all these other crazy names, the rest of the team just roll their eyes and think we are crazy but that's just us. Now I have 3 baby girls and a baby boy and your mummy has 2 baby boys. I finally have the family I have always wished for and the only person wanted a baby with, was your mum and I got 3 babies, now I have more love to give'.

As Penelope lay there listening to Derek she got tears in her eyes. She loved listening to him telling stories about how they met; she smiled as he saw the love in his eyes as he looked at their daughter. She found it cute that when Derek stopped talking their baby cried but when he starts talking again she stops. She's now staring at him, listening to the stories he was telling her, holding his finger with her tiny hand. 'He is such a great dad already, I knew he would be but this is just amazing to watch' Penelope thought as she watched Derek with their girl.

Derek looked up, to check Penelope but saw that she was awake. He grinned at her and then looked back down to his daughter and then moved her so she could see her mum. 'Look baby, mummy's awake now' Derek told his daughter happily. He looked back at Penelope 'hey baby girl, how are you feeling?' he asked, whilst standing up and walking over to her. He kissed her on the head and smiled at her.

She smiled tiredly and said 'I feel tired but otherwise OK, a bit of pain but I guess that's normal. I listened to the stories you were telling her, you're amazing with her'.

He smiled back and leaned down to kiss her quickly, careful not to squish the baby. 'Thank you baby girl, you're amazing with all 3 of our babies too you know' he winked and then said 'and I love you' he looked at his daughter when she sighed and saw that she had fallen asleep again.

She smiled even more and said 'I love you too'. He looked at her and handed her the baby carefully and put her in Penelope's arms.
