Chapter 35: Missing

Corrine sat frozen as she watched her child run from the room, from her. She knew it was over. It was time for her to go. She wiped the remaining tears from her face, grabbed her purse and left the visiting room.

Gen sat huddled in the corner near her bed crying softly. She hadn't realized she would feel this way after all this time. Hadn't she gotten the closure she had been wanting? It was over. She just wanted to go home to her Moms and Haylee. A knock sounded on her door and she hurriedly tried to wipe the tears from her face.

"Come in." She said hoarsely.

"Hello Genesis, I heard your Mother came to visit you today," Dr. Kerns said closing the door behind her.

"Yeah..."

"Do you wanna talk about that?"

"Not really."

"I think it would help you."

"I told her I hated her and that I didn't need her. She was trying to remind me of good times and I couldn't remember any."

"Is that all?"

"Then I ran out of the room and came in here and started crying."

"Do you feel better?"

"No. I want my Moms and my girlfriend. I want to be with them. I can't wait to get out of here."

"It's your last week and today is Tuesday. You've made some progress Genesis."

"Melinda?...Calm down...What do you mean?...I told her she could see her...Gen was probably upset...That's uncalled for Melinda! Corrine should be in jail for what she did to her!...Fine!"

Olivia slammed down her end of the receiver and tried to catch her breathe. She ran her fingers through her brunette waves and sighed.

Alex came rushing into the family room, hearing everything from the office.

"Babe? Baby? What happened?" She asked concerned.

"That's what I'd like to know! Melinda called, jumping down my throat because Corrine didn't show up to the clinic and she's not answering her phone and the last time she heard from her she had just left from visiting our daughter." Olivia said, slightly agitated.

"She had the nerve to call Gen a 'disrespectful brat' and said we need to get her under control!"

Alex rolled her eyes. "Why is it Gen's fault that Melinda's sister ran off?"

"Whatever happened between them during their visit upset Corrine."

"How do we know she isn't the one who upset Gen?"

"Exactly! I have to know what happened."

Olivia snatched a coat off the coatrack and slipped on some shoes.

"I'll be back. Haylee should be home from school soon."

She pecked Alex on the mouth and rushed out the door.

Alex stood looking perplexed for a minute before shaking her head and heading back to the office.

...

"Dr. Kerns? Genesis Benson's mother is here to see you." The receptionist said over the phone.

"She looks very upset." She added, glancing up at Olivia.

"Alright, ill send her in." She hung up the phone and smiled at Olivia. "You can go in."

"Thank you." Olivia said, already heading into the Dr's office.

"Hello Miss Benson, is everything alright?" The Dr. asked setting her pen and notepad aside.

"No. I allowed Gen's birthmother to see her and all hell broke loose!"

"Genesis was very upset after the visit." The Dr. agreed.

"What happened? Is she alright?"

"I gave her a sedative so she could relax. I'm hoping to talk to her more later on."

"Ist turned into a catastrophic chain of events. Corrine is missing and unreachable." Olivia said with a sigh.

Dr. Kerns nodded. "All I can tell you is that the visit didn't go well for either of them. "

"This woman is a sobering drug addict. She didn't show up at the clinic for her treatment. I have to talk to my daughter. I need to know what happened so I can help find Corrine."

"I'm sure Genesis would be more than happy to see you when she wake up."

Olivia nodded and left the office. Once inside her daughter's room she released the breathe she had been holding. She watched her daughter sleep from a distance before taking the seat at her bedside. She would be there when her daughter woke up.

...

Gen's eyes fluttered open as she felt the drug induced sleep start to leave her body. She smiled when she saw her mom sitting in the chair at her bedside. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sat up.

"Hi mom." She said while stifling a yawn.

"Hi honey. How was your nap?"

"It was good."

"I need to talk to you."

Olivia got right to the point.

"Its about my visit isn't it?"

"Yes. Corrine is missing sweetheart."

Gen sat still with a blank look on her face and shrugged her shoulders indifferently.

"Oh..."

Olivia was taken aback by Gen's indifference, but she decided to drop it and focus on the task at hand.

"What happened?"

"She came in here trying to take a walk down memory lane and I got angry. I lost it. I told her that I hated her and that I didn't need her. Then I left."

"I see.."

"What?! It's not my fault she's gone again!"

"No one is blaming you baby girl but I have to help find her."

"Whatever." Gen snapped.

She didn't see why it was their concern if the woman was missing. Why should she care? Her thoughts were interrupted by the shrill ringing of her mother's phone.

"Hello?...hold her...thank you."

Olivia slipped her phone back into her pocket and stood to leave. She pressed a kiss to Gen's forehead and gave her a tight hug.

"I'll be back on Friday with Alex for your final family session and to bring you home."

"Can't wait!" Gen said with a wide grin.

'Finally!' She thought.

Gen couldn't wait to leave the treatment center. She knew she still had a lot of work ahead of her and that she could no longer depend on her ED. But she knew as long as she had Olivia that she could get through this and anything else that came her way.

So sorry that it took me so long to update. I also apologize for any/all grammar mistakes. I'm working on my fics from my tablet for the time being.
