"That's the hard part" Balinor said running a hand through his beard "You see we have a plan, or an idea but it's dangerous if it back fires"

"What is it" Morgana asked curiously

"We need you to acquire a weapon of the old religion" Balinor replied

"That doesn't sound too bad, what type of weapon?" Merlin said.

"A sword, because these certain swords mixed with yours and Morgana's magic should cut through Kilgharrah's chain, you see the sword would act as a conduit for your magic" Gaius said the old man sure his idea would work "you'll eventually get powerful enough that you wouldn't need the sword but this is the best I can think of in our current situation"

"Where is this sword?" Morgana asked "is that the hard part? You don't know where it is"

"It's not about where the sword is Morgana, that's not the problem" Balinor said cutting in "Its more who's sword it is, and what you would have to do to get it…..or who you would have to bring back to life to get it"

"Bring back to life?" Merlin questioned the warlock's eyes widening

"Well not bring back to life as such, because I'm not sure if their even alive anyway" Gaius said cryptically

"What?" Morgana replied in confusion, she couldn't deny she was nervous about their idea as well. They weren't exactly being forth coming. And what the hell did he mean he didn't know if they were alive anyway? And what did he mean their? Was their more than one?

Gaius let out a small breath before asking

"Has either of you two heard of the legend of Medhir? Or her seven knights?"

Seven knights are coming to dinner

Chapter 35

Arthur/Gwen's room…

Gwen watched from her bed as Arthur pulled his undershirt over his head, she let out a laugh as the prince of Camelot put his top on backwards and let out a huff of frustration. She couldn't believe a man of his age couldn't dress himself, but she knew usually his servant in Camelot would have dressed him. For a man who had been in battles, killed men, and made love to her passionately whenever he could, Gwen had to admit she found it strange he couldn't dress himself properly. Although he was trying and watching him try was something she found adorable.

When Arthur finally got his shirt on the right way, the prince turned back to his love that was still in their bed, with a triumphant smile plastered on his face.

"Well done Arthur" Gwen said the teasing obvious in her voice "I am very proud of you for winning the fight with your shirt, it looked touch and go there for a while"

"Oh ha ha Guinevere" Arthur said as he walked towards the bed, and sat down next to her now fully clothed "you're not funny you know" he continued as he leaned in towards her placing a kiss on her lips, while placing his hand on her stomach.

Both of them pulled away from the kiss and looked down to where Arthur had placed his hand and smiled.

"I can't wait to tell everyone I'm pregnant" Gwen said longing in her voice.

"I know me too" Arthur replied " But you and I know it's not the right time , not when Morgause has only just found out about her child , a child that was snatched away from her at birth and she had no idea until now"

Gwen nodded in agreement; while she wasn't massively close to Morgause she couldn't imagine someone taking her child away from her.

Apart from Gaius who had confirmed her pregnancy only her and Arthur knew, although Gwen was desperate to shout from the roof tops her happiness and tell everyone, especially her best friend Morgana she knew it wasn't the right time. It would seem too much like they were rubbing their happiness in Morgause's face.

"Please come back safe Arthur" Gwen said , her voice soft as she leaned her head on his shoulder "Are you not worried Uther would have told the other kingdoms of your disappearance , how do you know you won't be escorted back to Camelot or your father informed of your whereabouts ?" Gwen asked, the thought of him being taken away from her running through her mind.

Arthur looked at Gwen's worried face and gave her a comforting smile.

"Don't worry about my father Guinevere, even though he has the other kingdoms basically under his thumb he would never tell them of my disappearance, If a king's heir is killed, it's one thing but if he's disappeared and the king doesn't know where he is, its seen as a sign of weakness and could give someone the confidence to attack Camelot"

When he watched Gwen nod in understanding, he knew it was time for him to go meet the others before he left in search of his uncle. But he had something he needed to ask Gwen before he did.

"While I'm gone Guinevere I need you to do something for me" Arthur said placing his hand over hers.

"What's that Arthur?" Gwen asked curiously

"While I'm gone I need you to send a letter to your brother Elyan requesting his help"

"My brother? How do you know I even know how to contact" Gwen said only to be interrupted by a finger to her lips.

"Contrary to popular belief I'm not as much of a clot pole as Merlin likes to state" Arthur said as he gazed softly at Gwen "I know your brother disgraced your family by choosing to be a weapon for hire, I also know that while you'll tell people you don't know how to get in touch with him I know you, you'll of made sure there was a way encase the worst happened to your father. Elyan is also another name that came up from Morgana's dream; well also need all the help we can get"

Gwen didn't say anything, only nodded in agreement once more. While she hated what her brother had become, she had not lost contact with him, had not lost her love for him. Maybe it was time to reach out?

Morgause/Leon's room…..

"We'll find him Morgause" Leon whispered in the blond sorceress's ear , it was the morning and they were due to leave for Mercia , and it was also the first time either of them had hope that they could find their son .

"I know we will" Morgause replied calmly

Leon was shocked by the confident reply, it seemed as though just a bit of hope had sparked a resurge of energy through the woman he loved. Even the way she had dressed this morning, before she had lain around in his cloths barely taking note of her appearance but this morning she looked back to her best, dressed in one of her form hugging red dresses she loved so much, her hair was perfect with no strand out-of-place. From when he first met her at the Druid camp she called home, she always stood out; never wearing Druid robes instead only ever a beautiful dress or armor from where she had practiced sword fighting against the Druid men. She always seemed beautiful yet dangerous, and if you hurt her that's what she could be but Leon knew first hand if you got to know the real person deep down you couldn't help but love her.

When they were both dressed and ready, they left their room and headed to meet the others with only one thought in mind, they would stop at nothing until they got their son back

Morgana/Merlin's room….

As the sun shone into their room, it's rays hitting the occupants who currently slept naked and wrapped in one another's arms. A small groan was heard as the warm rays slowly coaxed Morgana from her peaceful slumber. Said witch smiled a bright smile at the strong-arm currently snaked around her waist, remembering the memories of the night before her smile widened. After planning their next move with Gaius and Balinor, she and Merlin had gone back to their room, both eager to show their love for one another again... Although just the once didn't seem enough, and she hoped after their marathon of mattress acrobatics that they hadn't woken anyone through the night, it wasn't like they were quite after all. Morgana smiled at that maybe I'll see if I can find a spell to sound proof our room.

One thing she was grateful for, was that Aithusa had found a place to nest in the castle, apparently while her and Merlin were gone she had taken to sleeping in the wine cellar, she had apparently been dragging items "treasure" there and guarding it. According to Balinor it was something completely normal for a young dragon to do, it turns out Dragons where notorious hoarders.

Morgana, knowing that she and Merlin needed to get ready for their next journey, the goal of summoning the knights of Medhir and freeing Kilgharrah an important one. Decided it was best to awake her sleeping warlock and start to get up and get ready to leave. They were taking Lancelot and Percival with them, and she was sure they would already be up and ready to go, apparently the two didn't like sleeping.

Morgana turned herself around in bed but made sure she was still in Merlin's arms. She watched his peaceful face for a while before deciding to try to awaken him. He was a heavy sleeper though, as she poked and prodded all she received back where a few groans. An idea hit her though as she leant forward, her lips a few millimeters from his ears.

"I'm naked you know Merlin" Morgana said breathlessly, she let out a small giggle when his eyes opened instantly.

"Mmmm good morning" Merlin murmured a small grin gracing his lips.

"You know Lancelot and Percival are probably up and ready Merlin" Morgana said knowing they needed to get a move on; she let out a small chuckle when Merlin moaned into his pillow.

They eventually got out of bed and dressed, Merlin in his normal choice of clothing fitted with his trusty red tunic, Morgana was different though, gone was the fancy colorful dresses she wore in Camelot, her look now changing to mostly black dresses.

As they were about to leave their chambers and meet the others, Merlin noticed something out of the window in their room.

"Morgana look" Merlin said pointing out the window towards the scenery outside. The once dreary grounds of Amatas, which before had been nothing more than a muddy space with no life at all, had now grown other night and had turned into a beautiful green field.

"That can't be a coincidence Merlin, it has to be down to our magic" Morgana said looking out the window "This is the second time this has happened after we've made love ...I mean remember our first time, the forest it happened in grew over night".

"We'll what we were doing was life affirming you know" Merlin replied before giving Morgana a look that made her blush.

"Stop looking at me like that or well never leave this room" Morgana said before pulling Merlin by the hand toward the room door.

Outside Amatas…..

A slight drizzle started to rain down upon the lands as Merlin and Morgana, alongside Lancelot and Percival started their journey to the castle of Idirsholas. The journey itself would take up to two days if they only stopped when needed; the castle located ten miles west of the walls of Camelot. The group where slightly apprehensive due to the nature of their quest, raising the knights of Medhir , a near immortal group of knights who massacred hundreds wasn't something a normal person would do , but if it would get them a weapon of the old religion that could help break Kilgharrah free then it would be a risk worth taking .

As they started their hike up an incredibly steep hill, Merlin remembered the legend that Gaius had recited to them about the knights, quite vividly in fact.

"Has either of you two heard of the legend of Medhir? Or her seven knights?" Gaius asked the people in the room, or Merlin and Morgana at least he knew Balinor knew about the knights of Medhir. When both replied no, he went on to tell them.

"Over three hundred years ago, a sorceress by the name of Medhir seduced a group of knights. Seven knights to be exact"

Gaius looked up to Merlin and Morgana to make sure they were paying attention, when he saw that they where he continued.

"One by one the succumbed to her power, becoming bound to her alone. They became a frightening and brutal force; they left death and destruction in their wake. Massacred hundreds all in the name of Medhir"

"How where they stopped?" Morgana asked curiously

"They were stopped only when Medhir herself was killed, her power being the source that kept them alive. It is believed many have tried to summon the knights once more, but failed as they were not powerful enough"

It was what came next in the conversation that had worried Merlin and Morgana the most.

"If where successful in summoning the knights then what?" Merlin questioned "what do we do about the seven un-killable knights we just summoned?"

Balinor started talking next, his words not the most reassuring to the warlock and witch.

"Very little is known about the Knights of Medhir apart from their path of destruction, we know the summoning spell , we know the knights of Medhir will be bound to the person or people who summon them so no harm will come to the two of you if your successful"

"So you're saying you don't know any more apart from that, me and Morgana will be safe from harm?" Merlin said in disbelief "but what happens if the knights start killing innocents? While they may not harm us, they may not listen to us, where not this Medhir after all"

Gaius sighed, he knew the boy was right but they needed one of the knight's swords, he had searched for other alternatives but after the purge, weapons of the old religion where incredibly hard to come by. And while the bodies of the knights stood idle in the castle of Idirsholas, their swords drawn, they were immovable and the swords the knights carried could only be removed from their animated bodies. So without the knights being alive, there was no other way for the swords to be removed from their hands.

"Merlin my boy, I understand yours and Morganas worries I do. But we need Kilgharrah, and to do that we need a weapon of the old religion. Uther had destroyed so many things associated with the old religion, this is the only idea I can think of. "

"Gaius is right my son" Balinor said getting his boys and Morgana's attention "We told you this idea we had was risky and that it could back fire on us, But with only the collection of books found in the Sarrums vaults , this is the best idea Gaius could find . With us not knowing what this Sir Edward has planned, we need to act; we need to release one of our kin from his prison"

Merlin remembered it had taken a while for Gaius and Balinor to persuade himself, and Morgana that summoning these knights where the best idea. It was probably Gaius's eyebrow of doom that persuaded him how serious they were Merlin summarised.

One day later ….

As the journey kept on, every step the group made brought them closer to the Castle of Idirsholas.

Morgana watched out of the corner of her eye Lancelot and Percival's behaviour, they seemed so alert and serious. It was obvious that they were over protective of her and Merlin, she wasn't sure why especially as they could quite easily throw the two around like rag dolls. The only thoughts that come to mind was her and Merlin's age , at seventeen they were considered the babies of the group , bar the new additions of Anna and Ella they were technically the youngest and it seemed everyone else tried to cotton wall them . While it irked her a little, as she and Merlin held so much power that they didn't need all this protection, she couldn't be mad at them, all her life she had wanted family and friends , and it seemed she gained more everyday .

When Morgana looked down at her and Merlin's linked hands, she remembered what the two of them had to do. What they were about to attempt at the castle of Idirsholas. She remembered Gaius's instructions word for word.

"When you get to the castle of Idirsholas, you must find the room where seven knights stand like statues surrounding a cauldron." Gaius said before he stood from his chair and walked towards a small satchel that sat on one of his chairs, grabbing the bag he passed it to Morgana "When you find this Cauldron and the seven knights, place the ingredients from this bag into the cauldron" The old man then grabbed a small piece of rolled up parchment of his table and passed it to Merlin. "Then both of you repeat the spell that's written on the scroll I just gave you. If you're successful the cauldron will set alight and fire will burst forth"

"Why does it matter if the cauldron sets alight?" Morgana asked as she took in Gaius's instructions.

"Because my dear girl, it is said when the fires of Idirsholas burn, the knights of Medhir will ride again"

After they had spoken and the task was set, it was Merlin who had asked next if they should ride straight for Camelot, straight for Kilgharrah.

"Every moment our kin sits in that prison, is a moment to many Merlin" Balinor said, it was obvious his connection to the great dragon was strong "Do not enter Camelot through the front, only take the secret entrance to Kilgharrah's prison"

Morgana hated the fact the great dragon sat prisoner under the tyrant Uther Pendragon, and she would do anything to set him free, to reunite him with the only other one of his kind.

One day later outside the castle of Idirsholas...

They were all tired, wet and worn out as they finally came over a hill that revealed the first glimpse of the castle of Idirsholas. It had rained non- stop the whole way there ,and even though what they were here to do was dangerous, they were all looking forward to getting out of the rain and into the castles shelter.

At first look, there wasn't a lot of difference between the castle of Amatas and the castle of Idirsholas, both looked old, rundown and looked like they had suffered damage from many battles.

"On my travels I heard stories about the legend of Medhir" Lancelot said to Percival as they walked across the field that stood in front of the castle.

Percival nodded, he had heard many different legends himself.

"I as well" the large man said as he continued to stride across the field "the Druids seemed to have a different story every night, the knights of Medhir being one of them".

Lancelot smiled remembering the times he would stay a night in a Druid camp that he and Leon had helped on their travels around the kingdoms. He looked over at Merlin and Morgana, who at the moment where deep in discussion a few feet away from himself and Percival.

"The Druids said terrible things about Medhir and her knights, so well have to watch out for those two".

Percival nodded in agreement, even though the warlock and witch where powerful, he and everyone else had grown attached to them, not to mention protective.

"It's strange to think those two have such big destinies".

Lancelot couldn't help but agree with Percival as they continued on to the castle of Idirsholas.

Inside the castle of Idirsholas…..

Walking through the castle Merlin couldn't believe how dusty it was, not to mention the cobwebs that seemed to adorn every corner of every room. It was obvious this place had been abandoned for many years , not even people with no shelter or even people looking for things to steal seemed to have been here . He could tell that just by the fact there was a lot of items scattered about the rooms that where of worth , expensive goblets made of gold , in some rooms, dresses hanged that had real ruby's stitched on to them. Where people so scared of the knights of Medhir story, that they never ventured up to this place? It was the only reason Merlin could think of.

It seemed like they searched every room in the castle trying to find the room Gaius had described, Merlin thought maybe the old man was losing it a little, until they walked into the room on the furthest side of the castle.

It was large in side, maybe not as big as their throne room at Amatas but not far off. The windows on the side were barred, the poles rusted obviously from water damage. Spread across the walls where vines, that had grown in through the cracks. But it wasn't what really caught everyone's eye because stood in the middle of the room where seven men in dark cloaks. Chain-mail adorned their chest, each of them holding a sword that was pointed to the floor, the very swords that would break Kilgharrah free, their faces were covered by steel black masks and the hoods of their cloaks. They were standing eerily still positioned in a circle, and inside that circle was the rusted black cauldron that Morgana and Merlin needed to do the spell in.

"My word" Lancelot uttered not sure what else to say, he walked slowly around a few of the knights followed closely by Percival.

Morgana looked to Merlin and nodded her head in the direction of Lancelot and Percival. Realising what she was indicating Merlin walked towards them.

"We need you two to wait outside while we do this" Merlin said to his two friends.

"Absolutely not Merlin" Lancelot said shaking his head in disagreement "these knights are dangerous"

"That's why we need you two to wait outside" Morgana said calmly as she walked towards Merlin and the others, she stopped by her warlock's side. "What I and Merlin are about to try do, is classed as dark magic, bringing people back from the dead, especially ones as brutal as these is something that can have many complications if done incorrectly"

"That's why you need us" Percival stated his muscles tensed "We can defend you"

"We are not the ones who will need protecting" Merlin said a little annoyed they still thought of them as helpless "what we are doing is a form of necromancy, while these knights won't harm the people who brought them back, if we don't do the spell right, if we don't do it to perfection, they may not be under our control"

It took a lot of back and forth but eventually Lancelot agreed along with Percival to wait outside of the room, both making a point to draw their swords stating if there was no word from them after a while they would be coming back in. Both Merlin and Morgana agreed to this, hoping it wouldn't come down to that.

When they had left the room, Merlin started pulling the ingredients for the spell out of the satchel Gaius had given them.

"You ready for this Morgana?" Merlin said with a comforting smile when she nodded, they both followed Gaius's instructions, first filling the cauldron with water, then each ingredients ranging from different herbs to animal parts, they eventually got to the last part required before they did the spell, the blood of the people performing it.

Pulling out a small dagger that also sat in Gaius's satchel, Merlin stood in front of the cauldron and held his hand out. Slowly he cut into the inside of his hand, grimacing from the pain as his blood dripped into the metal tub, when enough blood had made its way into the cauldron he passed the dagger to Morgana who proceeded to do the same . Until finally it was time to do the spell.

In unison they both held their hand out for one another to take, when their fingers interlaced with one another's, they both gave each other a small smile. And together they started to chant.

"Cnihtas Medhires, eower sawlas sind min sawlas. Onwac and cum her eft. Rid eft"

They kept on repeating the spell, chanting it over and over, until finally their eyes flashed pure gold and their magic shot from them. But nothing happened, nothing changed and the knights still stood perfectly still.

Merlin and Morgana looked towards one another confused, after chanting the spell they had been given, after feeling their magic respond nothing had happened.

Both Merlin and Morgana walked out of the circle of knights to wear they had left the scroll the spell was on, along with Gaius's satchel.

"What did we do wrong?" Merlin questioned

Morgana grabbed the scroll and read through the spell, shaking her head at the fact they had said it perfectly and yet it hadn't worked.

"Maybe Gaius was wrong?" Morgana asked having no idea what to do now. Just as she was about to speak again, the ground started to shake.

As both of them turned around, they were nearly knocked of their feet as fire shot from the cauldron. Before it calmed down and turned into a small blazing flame.

"When the fires of Idirsholas burn, the knights of Medhir will ride again" Morgana whispered repeating the words Gaius had said.

No words had ever been truer as one by one each of the seven knights started to come alive, and then one by one each of them drew their swords and turned towards Merlin and Morgana.

They both swallowed nervously as the now alive knights of Medhir started to walk towards them swords drawn.

"Gaius said they wouldn't hurt us Merlin, but it doesn't look like their going listen to us" Morgana said but just as they were about to get ready to attack the knights, the now alive knights kneeled in front of them like a knight to a king.

Merlin and Morgana looked at one another shocked as the knights of Medhir awaited their instructions.

"We did it" Merlin muttered in disbelief, a speechless Morgana could only nod in agreement. It was all short-lived though as Lancelot and Percival came into the room swords drawn, the noises from the cauldron exploding obviously alerting them.

"Merlin….Morgana are you alright" Lancelot shouted as they stormed into the room.

Hearing the entrance of the two men and thinking of them as threats to their two new masters, the knights of Medhir got to their feet drawing their swords as they stood. And with an intimidating roar, the seven knights started striding towards Lancelot and Percival.

Not knowing how to control them, both Merlin and Morgana could only shout one thing.

"RUN!"

A/N so what do you think? I would love to no so why not leave a review?
