Chapter 38

Richard and Michael stood outside Jason's hospital room. Richard knocked and went in first. "Jason, it's Richard and Michael."

His head snapped toward the door. "Have you seen Elisa?"

"No. Why?" Michael questioned. Jason sighed in frustration.

"She went somewhere. I'm worried now. She had this look in her eye that unnerved me. She said something about stripping them of everything. I'm worried about her. She didn't seem herself."

Richard just nodded in understanding. "I'm sure she's fine. Elisa is a smart girl."

"What are you doing here?" Jason questioned. "I wasn't expecting you."

"We came to check on your progress," Michael said. "Also to see what the other guardians are doing. This whole thing is coming to a close. I can feel it."

Their heads turned at the sound of Elisa coming in. "Hi," she said wondering why Richard and Michael were in the room.

"They're just checking on me," Jason replied.

She smiled. "Thank you," she said.

"What is the latest on our guardians?" Richard asked.

"Beth will tell you," she replied. "Right now I would like to spend time with Jason. Beth should still be in the war room."

They didn't try to argue. They left giving them privacy. Elisa sat on the edge of the bed. "How are you?"

"Better once you tell me where you went," he responded.

"To the ballroom where...she died. And Goliath was waiting for me."

"What?" he deadpanned. "Did he hurt you?"

"No. I'm fine. I can handle him. I just want you to recover from this. We're fighting in two days and I'll eventually join with them."

"Do they know that?" Jason asked.

"They will. I won't be able to give my all with my injury. I'm a liability right now. They can handle themselves," Elisa explained.

"What was with you before you left?" he asked. "It was as if you had a sudden epiphany."

"I did and I know what I need to do to get rid of my "siblings" once and for all. We are going to be fine. I'm going to make sure of it."

"Elisa-

"Shh. You need to rest. Your recovery is most important," she said. "The doctors will be back soon. I'll be here until you fall asleep."

She watched him as he fell asleep 20 minutes later. She slipped out of his room and walked into the terrace where she found Calvin. "Elisa?"

"Take me to the Council...the gargoyle council. I'm done with last minute rescue missions for us. You and other clans are fighting. They're going to fight now. Take me too them."

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes. Time is wasting away." She held out her hand for him to take. She opened a portal and went through.

They landed in the middle of what looked like a castle to her. "We're in another realm called

New Haven."

A boy approached and Calvin stated their business. The boy went forward and they followed. They were led to some double doors. They were asked to wait outside before they were allowed to go in.

"Protocol," Elisa said. "Go first." He did and she straightened her features. "Showtime." She walked in and stood next to Calvin. She gave a curtesy.

"Guardian, you have graced us with your presence. Allow me to welcome you. I'm Gregory, leader of this Council." He introduced the others.

"Good. We do need your military support. We need allies. More allies. Robert Maza has agreed to help. I know you're weary of fighting but your clans are fighting just as hard. You taught them well and each of you were friends with the original Core Eight. I'm asking for your support," she said politely.

"After all this time," one said.

"I'm here and we need the element of surprise. I do hope your answer will be a sure thing. All you have to do is look after them during the day. The morale will go up and make Eric furious. He also likes to play mind games. You know I have legitimacy of this team. I want the decision to be yours. You have 5 minutes." She walked out the room afterwards.
