George And Emily's Misadventure
Starting out like any other day in the Great Big Harbour, the tugboats gathered around for their usual morning work meeting. "Now today," the Dispatcher began, "Theodore is coming back from Europe."
The tugboats were excited. "I can't wait to play with Theodore!" Hank said. "Of course you will," smiled Foduck, "But don't get too excited now." "Ok," Hank agreed.
"First," the Dispatcher began, "Foduck and Hank, today, you'll both be towing in an oil tanker." "You can count on us!" Hank said. The two left for work.
"George and Emily," the Dispatcher said to the remaining tugs, "You two will bring in container ships arriving for their visits." "Consider it done!" George said out loud. "Uh, not right away," murmured Emily.
The two left. All the tugs spent most of the day towing ships. "Look at them work," said Millie. "Yes," agreed Northumberland, "They are busy today." "But not me!" Carla chirped, "I got a day off." "Of course you do," sighed Northumberland.
After Emily and George finished docking Jennifer, a big container ship, the two tugs decided to take a break. "Now what?" asked Emily. "I'd say we go on an adventure during our break," declared George. "All right," agreed Emily. The two big tugboats set off to wherever they're going.
They've both gone past Celidith's Cove.
"Where are they going?" Dorothy asked Truro. "Who knows?" answered Truro. "Shipwreck rock?" Dorothy asked. The two tugboats did go past Shipwreck rock.
Beyond the jagged sea structure, something caught George's attention. "What's that?" he asked and approached it. "What?" Emily replied.
The two tugboats arrived at a flooded cave embedded in the rocky cliff. "Hmm," George though, "A cave." George looked at a sea cave. "Good enough for us," George said, looking down at the water that flooded the cave.
"George," Emily said, "Let's just take a look at this cave, then leave!" "Right, right, right," George replied.
A few seconds later, however, George blasted his whistle into the cave and the sound came right back to him in an echo.
"Interesting," George said, "An echo of my whistle." Then there was a rumbling sound. "Uh oh," Emily said, "That doesn't sound good." First, a little bit of gravel poured onto George. "Hey," he said, "Is it raining, rocks?" "No," replied Emily, looking up to see a horrible sight above George. "Rockslide!" Emily shouted.
She pushed George into the cave as rocks crashed behind the two tugboats. The two turned back to see that the entrance had been blocked by rocks. "Now look at what you've done!" Emily shouted.
"Oh," groaned George, "Well, strong tugboat away!" George charged at the blocked passage. He hit it with a thud, but nothing happened. "No, stop, George!" Emily shouted, but George didn't listen.
"Don't worry, Emily," George called back, "I'll have us out of here in no time at all." George continued to bash the rock pile.
Emily then pulled George away when there was another crash. "Don't do it anymore, George!" Emily shouted, "You're only making things worse!" "I am?" asked George.
Emily tried to call the Dispatcher on her radio, but failed. "These rocks," Emily explained, "Are blocking the signal." "Oh," groaned George, "Then come on, let's find another way out of here." George floated by Emily. "If you say so," Emily replied, following George to wherever they're going.
Back in the big harbour, work carried on as usual. Hank had finished moving Guysborough the garbage barge. "There you go," Hank said to the grumpy barge. "I would say 'you're welcome'," Guysborough said, "But what's the point?" Hank turned to Jasper the junk dock. "What do you think, Jasper?" Hank asked the junk dock.
"Nope," answered Jasper. "Ok," Hank said and left.
Then Hank met up with Foduck, docking Olympia. "There," he said. Then he noticed Hank. "Oh, Hank," Foduck said.
"Are you excited that Theodore will return soon?" "Yes," answered Foduck, "Yes, I am." "Great!" Hank shouted, "I'm excited that my friend is returning from Europe!" "That's there," Foduck said, "Now where are George and Emily?"
Back in the cave, George and Emily ran into a problem. "What's this?" asked George, "Low arches." "There's no way we'll fit through those tunnels," Emily explained, "We'll snap our mast on the rock arches."
"I know," replied George, "So what's your idea now?" "I don't know," Emily answered. "So what's going to happen to us now?"
Back in the Great Big Harbour, before sunset, the moment arrived. "Look!" Hank shouted, "Theodore the tugboat is back!" Every ship in the harbour looked and saw Theodore.
He was being led in by Constance, Nautilus, Pearl and Petra. "I'm back everyone!" Theodore shouted. "Theodore!" Hank raced to meet his friend, "You're back!"
"I am!" Theodore replied. The two friends cheered with their whistles. Foduck approached the little tug. "Have you had a wonderful trip?" he asked.
"Yes," Theodore answered, "I've been to many great places in Europe! I can't wait to tell George and Emily." "Well," Hank said, but didn't finish his sentence. "So, where are George and Emily?" Theodore asked. He was puzzled.
They were nowhere in sight. "They haven't returned?" the Dispatcher asked. "No," answered Foduck, "They haven't." "This is weird," the Dispatcher thought. The tugboats thought about it for a moment.
"Foduck," the Dispatcher said at last, "You'll have to go with Constance to find George and Emily." "Right away, sir," Foduck responded, getting ready to turn on his radar, and his sonar. "We'll have to hurry," Foduck said. "It'll get dark soon," Constance explained, "Get our searchlights ready." Foduck agreed.
"Theodore, I know that you are tired from your long trip across the ocean," the Dispatcher told Theodore. "Yes, sir," Theodore replied. "So what's your choice?" the Dispatcher asked, "Do you want to find George and Emily?"
"Yes, sir!" Theodore answered. "Then proceed immediately," the Dispatacher ordered.
With that, Theodore left with Foduck and Constance to find George and Emily.
Back in the cave, George and Emily were still thinking of what to do. "Maybe I could charge at the wall," suggested George. Emily wouldn't hear of it. "No!" she answered.
Meanwhile, Constance and Foduck were still searching, followed by Theodore. "Hey, it's Millie!" Theodore said.
"Hello, Theodore," Millie said, racing towards Theodore, "You're back!" "I know," smiled Theodore, "I had a great time. By the way, have you seen two tugboats float by here?"
"No," answered Millie, "But I did hear a rockslide." "Where?" asked Foduck. "Past Shipwreck rock," Millie pointed out, "But be careful there. It's getting dark." "We will," Foduck said, and the three boats floated forwards to Shipwreck rock. Eventually, they went by shipwreck rock.
"Let's search here," Theodore said. Foduck and Constance started searching the area while Theodore floated forwards. Then he noticed something.
"Hmm," he thought, "What is this?" He found a big pile of rocks. "This must be the rockslide that Millie mentioned," Theodore thought.
He was about to turn to go when he heard a "Now what?" voice. "What's that?" Theodore thought, "Emily, George?" Inside the cave, George and Emily were still thinking about how to get out of the cave.
"Any more ideas, George?" asked Emily. "No, Emily," replied George. The two sighed as they heard a familiar voice. "Hey, George, Emily!" a voice called from the other side of the rock barrier. "Huh?" thought George. "Could it be?" Emily said. "Theodore?" George said, "Is that you?"
"Yes!" Theodore said. "You're back from Europe?" Emily said. "Yes!" Theodore replied, "But how did you two get trapped in there?" "Long story," George said. "Never mind," Theodore said, "Let's get you two out of there!" Then Foduck and Constance floated up to Theodore. "You found them?" Constance asked.
"Yes," Theodore replied, "Emily and George are trapped behind this rock pile, and we have to get them out!" Foduck looked at the mess. "It's too late to get a barge now," he said. "I'll try to pull the rocks apart with my anchor," Theodore suggested. "Then go ahead," Constance said.
"Everyone! Stand back!" Theodore shouted. George and Emily backed away from the rock pile. So did Constance and Foduck. Theodore swung his anchor around and threw it at one of the rocks. "I'll pull!" Theodore shouted, and he yanked off a large boulder. More boulders came crashing down.
"The rocks are falling!" Emily said. "A few more!" Theodore said, swinging his anchor around. He threw it at a rock and broke it in two. Theodore kept using his anchor until the rock pile is reduced to gravel and the waterway is deep enough for George and Emily to get out of the cave safely.
"We're free!" George said out loud when he exited the cave. "You got it!" said Emily as she left the cave. "And Theodore, welcome back!" George said to Theodore. "Thanks, Theodore," Emily said. Theodore just smiled.
"Now let's go home," said Constance, "It's getting late." "Agreed," replied George, Emily and Theodore together." The five friends set off for the big harbour.
"I think I'm going to be careful next time," George said, "The accident wouldn't have happened if I've done so." "We know," said Emily, "So, Theodore, did you enjoy your big job across the ocean?"
"Yes," answered Theodore, "I did. But now, I'm glad to be back." "That's great," Foduck said. "Can you tell us what you did in Europe?" asked George. "Sure," answered Theodore.
But the very first thing Theodore did when he got back to the great ocean dock, he fell asleep. "I needed my rest!" he groaned. Everyone laughed. "I think he earned it," said Emily, "Don't you think so, Donald Dock?" "Uh huh," Donald Dock replied. "Oh well," sighed George.
