A/N: HIIIIIII! I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAACK! AND I'M HERE TO STAY UNTIL THIS FANFICTION IS COMPLETED! SO LET'S GET STARTED!
Chapter 36
Sesshomaru's POV
I had been enveloped in a bright light and began falling down into an endless void of swirling colors. Or was I going up? I was unable to tell the difference as scenes and visions flashed before my eyes and vanished as quickly as they appeared. I remembered back to when I had first had an experience like this though I did not know what it was at the time.
I must be traveling through time again. Am I returning to my Era? It was then that I realized that I had not yet been attacked by anything unlike the first time. I recalled Masaru once saying something about how the strain on one's body would be greatly reduced after the first time and they could survive without injury. It was then that everything shifted and I felt gravity pull me down as I fell onto the grassy earth beneath me.
I found myself lying beneath a tree that's leaves gently shifted in the slight breeze, making the thin rays of sun coming through the canopy move about. The wind also carried to me the sound of a familiar voice grumbling and whining.
"I suppose it's all over for me! I've searched and searched, but I haven't found the slightest idea of Milord's- huh?" Jaken finally looked up from his feet to see me staring at him. His jaw dropped for a moment then his voice came out in a high pitched shriek that grated on my ears. "L-L-L-L-LOOOORD SESHOOOMARUUUUUUUUUUU!" Jaken raced towards me, his enormous eyes filling with tears as he quickly bowed at my side. "MILORD! ITS YOU! I HAVE FINALLY FOUND YOU AFTER ALL THIS TIME!" His voice was quivering as he continued his obnoxious rambling. "AFTER YOU WERE SO CRUELLY REJECTED BY RIN THAT NIGHT I STARTED SEARCHING FOR YOU! I WAS STARTING TO THINK THAT YOU HAD ABANDONED ME! BUT I-"
"You know about what happened that night?" I asked, cutting him off.
"Wha-? Oh yes!" Jaken lifted his head up. "Everyone eventually found out after Rin left to marry that human nobleman!" I turned my head away as I stared off into the distance and began to process the information.
Rin has been married. The sentence echoed in my mind from a moment. She has been married to a nobleman while I was with Sakura…
"L-Lord Sesshomaru…?" Jaken called out to me, bringing my thoughts back to the present. I looked back to him and saw the confused expression written on his face. "Milord, forgive me, but what are you wearing? I have never seen such strange attire before." I looked down at the clothing Masaru had given to me.
"That's none of your concern." I replied as I rose to my feet and began walking away.
"M-MILORD!" Jaken scrambled to follow behind me, tripping a few times as he did so. "Milord, where are we going?"
"There are some things I need to do." I said. There are a few things I need to know before I begin my search…
Sakura's POV
I had finally stopped crying on the train ride back home. I simply hung my head, a blank stare on my face as I had tried to sleep. Sleep did not come. Ayame and Masaru had done their best, but couldn't find the words to console me. Ayame could only sit next to me on the train and try to comfort me if I needed to be.
Ayame walked me home and when we had finally arrived, my parents wanted to know how our camping trip was. I went straight to my room and Ayame quickly made up a story that after our trip was over, we had gone to town where Sesshomaru had broken up with me. I was in my room now, lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling as I thought of everything that had happened.
How could it have ended so suddenly? I wondered. There was a flash of light and he was gone… I stared at the large, panda bear sitting at the corner of my bed. It was one that Sesshomaru had helped me to win when we had gone to the carnival with Ayame and Masaru. I reached over to pick it up and gently squeezed it in my arms. It felt soft as I pressed my face up against it. Just like that fluffy thing Sesshomaru wears all the time… I rolled onto my side and curled up around the bear. He never did tell me what it was… I wished I could have known more about him… He had always been such a mystery to me. He was a puzzle that I couldn't seem to solve because all the pieces seemed to be buried deep where it was nearly impossible to find him. And yet… that same mystery is what drew me to him… I wanted to uncover those mysteries and… find a place where I could be beside him… Tears began spilling out of my eyes once again as my thoughts all circled back to him.
"Sakura?" My mother's voice could be heard through my closed door followed by the sound of it opening. "How are you feeling Sakura…?" My mother asked me. I rolled over and looked at her with watery eyes as she came over and sat beside me.
"Mom…" My voice cracked as I sat up and hugged her. She wrapped her loving arms around my and tenderly stroked my hair as I started sobbing on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry sweetie…" My mom said regretfully. "I know how hard it is when something like this happens. Especially when it's your first boyfriend…" My mother let me cry for a few minutes then spoke again. "I brought you something that might help a little bit." I sniffled as I tried to compose myself and looked up at her. She turned to her left and pulled out two tubs of chocolate ice cream with two spoons. She handed me one. "After something like this, it's best to start consoling yourself with a little bit of chocolate." I nodded, took off the lid, and began eating with my mom.
A/N: Well, that concludes this chapter. I actually found it kind of fun to write about Sakura's mom trying to help her begin her recovery process. What foods do you eat to console yourself with after a breakup? (or when you find out the guy you like has a girlfriend he really really likes JUST AS YOU'RE ABOUT TO ASK HIM OUT. *Cries*)
